[Cafe Carmon - Main Promenade - SB 234: UNITY]
Athena needed to report in, and this would be the first time she would see Cropa since before she left on vacation. She tried not to jump ahead, but knew he'd be surprised to find her here already. She hated not being able to wear a uniform when she reported in but she had little with her when she left for vacation and well the rest of her clothes had been on the Chimera.
Cropa sat at a cafe table on the front patio of Cafe Carmon. He was compiling his latest reports from the Battle of SB 234 for Commodore Guzman, who expected it by the next morning. After that he had the list of next of kin to whom he had to write. After the battle, there was little work space aboard SB 234, but Rojac found solace and a flat surface in Cafe Carmon. Their coffee was a little bland, but their freshly baked bagels were delicious.
Rojac looked up from his readings and saw a familiar face approaching. Somewhat flabbergasted, he rose to his feet. "Athena?" He asked. "How did you get here so quickly?"
"Sir, I've been around sort of," she hedged. "Is there anything I can do to help," she asked hoping that her question would take precedence over her answer.
"Please." He gestured to one of the three empty chair at his table and put a few padds into his satchel to make room on the table's surface. "Have a seat."
Athena sat down across form her CO, adding, "I did say I would try to meet you all but I'm afraid I couldn't understand your reply." She hadn't known about the communication lock out; she hoped her added explanation would ease the tension she sensed from Rojac.
Cropa sighed and reclined against the hard metal wire of the cafe chair. "Yes. The signal did get fuzzy at the end there. I'm afraid General Kira put us under an order of communications blackout once we were underway, which would explain the absence of our reply." As Rojac's eyes were wandering the surface of the table, they climbed up Athena's long fingers and found the glimmer of the blue gem there.
"I'm glad to find you well and can only imagine that you have several thing that need accomplished. Is there anything I can assist you with?" She wondered how much longer he would let her go without fully answering his original question, but waited for his reply. Following his line of sight she placed her right hand over her left and continued to wait.
Cropa snapped to at the break of his line-of-sight and looked back up to Athena. "Well, I'm sure the counseling department here is flooded with appointments after the battle. And I believe the Chief Counselor here was killed." He adopted a somber look and gazed across the promenade at the rebuilding efforts taking place throughout the station. "I will double check with Ops, but go and see how your expertise can be of assistance here. They could probably use the help."
"Excuse me, Sir, but did you at anytime speak with General Ivanov?" Athena couldn't help asking she understood why Viktor wouldn't tell Shane she had been aboard the Hermes, after all there was no love lost between the two. {But if...}
Rojac was rather taken aback. "Why yes I have." He replied, "But how would you know? Have you been practicing your telepathic abilities, Commander?" He leaned forward in his chair.
"Sort of, but not here," she said absently. {Why?} She looked down at her hands and moved her fingers around so that she could see her ring twinkle and wink at her with the light of the SB.
"Ah." Rojac smiled as comprehension dawned on his face. "So that's who it's from. Should I congratulate you, Counselor? Or would you rather I keep the information close to the chest?"
She looked up saying, "Yes, its from Viktor and yes, you can congratulate me." She took a moment longer before answering, "I'm not sure how others will perceive me ... us ..." She sighed commenting, "on one hand we've managed to do what others have deemed impossible and on the other i suppose I would be considered a traitor."
"Like Antony and Cleopatra." Rojac grinned. "It will probably anger some people, true." Rojac admitted. "But you don't get into relationships to make other people happy, Athena. The important thing is that you and Viktor are happy."
"I am," was the simple return.
"Well, congratulations." Rojac nodded in her direction. "I hope you two will be very happy. Though I wonder, Counselor," he began, " does this mean that you will be leaving us sometime soon?"
"No, I don't believe so," she didn't elaborate any further on her vague answer.

Rojac nodded after a beat of silence. "Very well. Report to Starbase counselling and see if you can be of assistance. I will contact you later when I recive further orders myself. It was good to see you, Commander."
