Terek walked alongside of Shane. He didn't see him after the
meeting until now. Understandably he was probably really
busy: "I've done a perliminary system scans and the two
dilithium deposits doesn't look so small as they did. The
long range sensors tracked them to the third asteroid belt
on the far side of the system. Although it won't be easy to
get to them. The asteroid belt has been formed in the
earlier stages of the system and is composed not only by ore
rocks, but also a frozen methane, hydrogen and even small
portion of water. And the size of those things is really
amazing. I reallly hope that Qashqai has a good pilot." he
looked at Shane "I'm not sitting behind the conn console
again any time soon."

Shane had to laugh: "Don't look at me Weranis. I am not
going anywhere any time soon and surely not piloting ... not
even my own ship. But if you're looking for a good pilot,
hunt down Marine Captain Xerxes and ask her to pilot the
Qashqai. She's a little bit weird, but knows her trade. By
the way ... please don't forget the mining colony on Aeran
III, we need as much of their resources as possible."

"Aye, we'll stop there on our way back and will try to
negotiate some sort of deal for us. We can also send
salvage teams to the chimera's place of demise."

Shane nodded: "Good idea. The battle field is still full
of debris both from Romulan as well as Erassian and
Federation ships. Most of the debris is of little value, but
you might encounter some nice pieces there. Just be carefull
not to run into any forgotten mine or something ... "

Thinking so hard that his forehead wrinkled and sort of
melted with his naturally wrinkled nose, which gave him a
bit gloomy expression, Terek said: "Well, we could probably
launch a few probes on our way to the asteroid belts and
pick up the results later for risk assessment and possible
benefits. If the probes will pick up anything usefull, we
can drop by on our way back to Unity." At first exploring
the debris field of Chimera seemed like a good idea, but now
Terek realized that it would probably be a bigger deal for
the crew of the Qashqai then he originally thought. He
himself won't feel good being there. Still this had to be
done because if they won't take the advantage of the
resources then someone else may and if there are supposed to
be scavengers, it'd better be them.

Scratching his chin, Shane said: "Back to your request
about personnel. To be honest, SSF Command has little
personnel to dispatch here and both Bretam and Kira are
quite reluctant to sign transfers here. But ..." Shane
smiled, "we have still a lot of Starfleet personnel here
from all the destroyed ships and most of them wait for their
next assignment. If you can find suitable guys for your
department among them, get them to me and I sign their new
assignment immediately. Just remember that you can have only
SSF personnel .. not regular Starfleet ones."

"Yeah, that might be a little problem. The computer can of
course sort out the 'undesirable' ones, but I'm afraid that
will leave us with very few people. What would you say about
for example civilians with proper clearance?" Shane gave him
a suspicious look, but Terek didn't let him start the
sentence he was surely about to say. "I know what you want
to say. That this is SSF and not regular Starfleet or even
civilian installation, but well there are civilian and
Starfleet facilities and areas here aren't there? And I know
for sure that USS Calacirya had on board couple of brilliant
scientific minds. Experts in astrogeology and spatial
topography and even one xenoanthropologist."

Shrugging his shoulders Shane replied: "I am not against
this idea, but please remember that we are Special Forces
and in war. The last thing we need are a couple of civilian
whinnies or Romulan agents. I say it directly, I'll ask
Joeleco to clear all SB 234 personell, so be careful whom to
ask. To be honest, I would prefer SSF personnel, but when
needed ask your civilians, but be carefull what you say and
to whom please …"

Frowning, he replied: "Yes, I'll talk to them first and see
if they would be interested. And yes, I would be careful not
to mention anything clasified..."

Nodding, Shane said: "OK then. Now please excuse me, I
have some other things to attend. I hope that you will like
the UNITY as much as Chimera."
