========== / Main Science Lab \ ==========
Entering a spatious place, Terek yelled: "We're due to depart in less
than hour, where are those last long range scans I've requested!?" He
was furious. He wanted to confirm the preliminary results he discussed
with Shane. It was Jesica's shift in the main lab quite a large two
story room with controls to everything a science department might need.
All data streams were focused right here and inthe middle of the room
was large 'bowl' that served both as holographic projection area and
central information pit. Terek descended those few stairs that separated
him from the lower level of the pit and approached one of the consoles
on the rim of the bowl where Jesica was standing.
"Sorry sir, but we've had a little trouble with long range sensor array.
The resolution upgrades we've made backfired on us a little."
"What? How?"
"Actually not a whole long range arrya, but just gravimetric sensors,
look." She tapped a fet commands on the console and the pit changed into
the 3D map of the third asteroid belt at the far side of the Aearan
system. Countless of spatial objects appeared. Jessica tapped a few more
commands and the view zoomed on the left center side of the belt where
there appeared to be a cluster of larger asteroids.
"See these? 259 rocks with cores composed of solid gamma zirkonium
trioxide an allotrop of zirkonium that exhibits anomalous gravity
readings. Not actual graviton radiation but enough to confuse our sensor
grid."
"Imposible, gamma zirkonium is in our database, sensors would have
filtered it out."
"Normaly yes, but our resolution enhancements affected recognition
algorythms of gravimetric sensor grids and diagnostics we've made didn't
show it so we've spent last five ours recalibrating whole grid and
inputing a new algorythms ergo the scnas you've requested were
inaccurate and you'll have to make a few course corrections to Qashqai's
route."
"Great and how much time will this detour cost us?"
"Actually it'll buy you about three hours of flight time as you won't
have to go around those gravity fluctuations as there are in fact none
present."
Ready to hear the bad news bajoran CSciO started in ironic voice: "Oh
that's just great..." but then it finally got to him and his expression
changed to surprised one instead "I mean, it's really great! We will
have more time on the Aearan II for negotiating."
"Aye, but if you want to leave in that hour or so as yo uwanted, please
let me finnish those course updates. I'll send them to your helm officer
as soon as I'm finnished." She replied in tone that suggested that she
will say no more and she turned back to the console. The 3D image
disappeared and Terek left the pit as well as the main lab.
