[USS Chimera] SD 240901.26 || JL || Capt Rojac (CO) & LtJG Howard (Tac) ||

[Ready Room - Deck 1 - USS Chimera-C]

Rojac looked up from Captain Xerxes report she had ferried to his desktop. The chime had sounded, disturbing his progress.

"Come." He shouted, putting his attention back to the section detailing the Flight Operations CO's suspicions of an ambush.

Michael walked in and stood at attention, "Lieutenant Junior Grade Michael Howard reporting for duty, Sir."

"Ah, Lieutenant." Rojac said, returning the salute. "I was wondering when you were going to report in. I was hoping it would have been sooner. Quickly, take a seat."

Michael sat down and faced his new CO. The man had piercing eyes and a strange manner that didn't sit well with Michael. Perhaps it was just the little that Michael knew about Rojac's past that colored Michael's perception.

"Lieutenant, given the current mission parameters and your position as a tactical officer, what would your recommendation be when entering a potential ambush situation while enroute to our destination?"

Michael blinked and set his thoughts back on the business at hand. He unconciously ran a hand through his hair as he thought, "There are several options. If there are specific areas of concern we can send out our stealth fighters to act as a scout force and make sure that there are no enemies in the vicinity. As far as dealing with an ambush should it happen obviously it would depend on the situation, but they would likely come at us with more than one ship, and get on either side to divide our fire. In that instance I would recommend throwing our entire fighter complement at one ship while we focus on another."

Michael paused and then continued, "By concentrating our fire and using our fighters as a distraction we could hopefully keep from being overwhelmed until we were in a position to either escape or to force them to retreat."

Rojac rubbed at his beard as the Tactical Officer spoke. He ahd good responses solid responses, but they were too direct and didn't adress the main objective of their operation. "That would be the best option if the main objective were to protect this ship, Lieutenant. But that is not the main objective at this point in time. Deploying the fighter wing at that close of a range would blow our cover, and make it much harder for Engineering and Operations to get our security teams aboard the outpost."

Michael nodded, "Be that as it may, if this is an ambush then our cover is blown anyway. But it is true that we should exercise caution in sending out our fighters."

"But it was a sounds analysis, Lieutenant. I believe elements of your plan may still be applicable. We will make two sweeps. The first in order to safely beam our security teams aboard Outpost 0071. The second to distract our Romulan guests so that Security may get to work securing the station. With our primary objective already completed at that point, I think our fighters may be deployed with better discretion. Do you agree, Lieutenant?"

"Yes Sir, that seems like a sound plan."

Roajc grinned and interlaced his fingers atop his desk. "Very well. I will run the plan by Captain Xerxes for her input. I believe she has some fighters on stand-by already. I want you Lieutenant to go to work on the bridge to workout the strategic scenarios. I want a full list of options: attack plan alpha, beta, and charlie, along with three exit strategies in case things get hairy. Understood Lieutenant?"

"Yes Sir, I'll get to work on them right away," Michael said and stood up.

"Very well. Dismissed. I'll see you on the bridge."
