[Captain's Quarters - Deck Two - USS Chimera NCC96899-C]
Rojac had cloistered himself in his quarters amidst mounds of paperwork, padds, and reports awaiting his purview and authorization. Officially, he was on rest and relaxation. Unofficially, he was "working from home". Rojac was never keen on vacations, especially during war time. It felt almost... morally wrong for him to be taking a break when thousands of his comrades were risking their lives on the front lines.
There was a half-eaten meal on the coffee table. Stacks of padds on his desk and the wall mounted display had a gigantic diagram of the fleet movements along the First Taskforce war theatre. With Chisulo's absence, Rojac had been offering what assistance he could to help plan the war effort while he was docked at UNITY. LtCol Pont Brillant and his team appeared to have the situation under control and as such, Rojac only served as an advisory role.
Rojac was tracing his fingers along a patrol path taken by a flotilla of LeGrand's fleet along the alpha zone when the chime to his quarters sounded.
Rojac's brow took on a puzzled expression. Who could be summoning him? Was Natalia back from her stay on Aeran III? Had Jardan made progress in his investigation aboard UNITY? Was the Cadet recently assigned to Medical that eager to see him? He took up the plate off the coffee table recycled it in the replicator as he made his way to the door.
Once opened, the lithe form of the young Lieutenant Rayna Dior stood before him. "Hello, Captain." She peered over his shoulder by standing up on her tip-toes. "Aren't you supposed to be resting and relaxing?"
Rojac stepped sideways to break her line of sight. "Maybe, Lieutenant. But why do you mind what I do on my spare time?"
She smiled a mischievous grin. "Because thirty minutes ago you were scheduled to meet me aboard UNITY for the drink you owe me."
Cropa slapped his forehead. "Good lord. I'm sorry Lieutenant. I forgot. Forgive me."
Rayna laughed. "I know you forgot."
"Come in." Rojac said, stepping aside as he waved the helm officer in. "Can I get you a drink here, Lieutenant?"
"I told you to call me Rayna off duty, sir." She replied. "And yes, please. Apple juice for now, but something stiffer once we get aboard the station."
"Fine, Rayna." Rojac said as he made he way across the messy room toward the replicator.
Rayna Dior looked around at all the scattered padds and the bare walls. "Lively decor you have here."
"Yeah." Rojac responded as he stepped away from the replicator with her juice. "Well, most of my personal possessions disappeared with the rest of the Chimera-B. And I haven't had much time for shopping since."
"Hmmm." She rubbed at her chin before taking the glass from her superior officer. "I guess that would do it." Her deep black eyes twinkled as Rojac glanced into them. "Though you could be doing some shopping now, if you really were taking a break."
"Bah!" Rojac replied. "Stay here, make yourself comfortable. I'm going to go get ready." He said as he walked off int eh direction of his bedroom.
Rayna Dior sat backward into the soft cushions of Rojac's couch and picked up a picture on the bedside table. It held the image of a young dark haired woman embracing a tall klingon figure in front of a red martian landscape. She wondered at who these individuals could be and spent a few minutes compiling elaborate tales to explain their background until Cropa returned.
"What do you have there?" Rojac asked.
"I don't know, you tell me. This is your room." She smiled back.
Rojac walked up beside her and picked up the frame. "Oh. That's my sister and her husband. They live on Mars."
"That's cute." She said, standing up beside him. "Are you close?"
"No." Rojac put the picture back down and turned to face Rayna fully. "We haven't talked since I joined the academy. I really haven't talked to any of my family since then."
"Well that's a shame." Rayna replied. "I'm sure they'd be proud."
Rojac only smirked, and Rayna got the feeling he wasn't too keen on discussing the matter further. She shrugged her shoulders. "Hmph! Well, I know a good place to go. It's called the Bluenote, and they have great music to go with the drinks." She said as she starting walking to the doors.
Rojac followed close behind her. "Lead the way."
