[USS Chimera] 240904.07, [SHIPYARD] Duty Log, Cdr Rick Rodgers

=Tarangor/Aeran Shipyard=
=Aeran System=

From a small, newly completed office, Rick looked over the
progress reports concerning the completion of the shipyard.
There was still considerable work to be done to the facility,
but enough had been accomplished to begin construction
of the first ship on the list he had been given.

The shipyard would officially begin it's new life by building
three dozen Lancers over the course of the next month.
Rick felt that the request was reasonable. In time, they
might even be able to double their production.

But Lancers was not the only ships that the shipyard would
be able to produce. Shuttles and runabouts would be other
primary vessels to be constructed at the second planned
attaching facility. In addition, the shipyard would be able
to build vessels as large as Defiants and even Sabres.

Rick had even more lofty plans for the facility. With more
work and time, they would be able to build even bigger
ships. In time, Katana-B's and other ships of her like were a
possibility. But that was at least three months from now. For
the time being, they would be happy with fighters and lots
of them.

"Commander?"

Rick looked up and saw Lieutenant Karn staring at him from
the entrance to the office.

"Yes, Lieutenant?"

"Sir, I just want to thank you for recommending me as the
Detector's new chief engineer."

"You deserve it. Work you and your team did on Detector,
getting done ahead of schedule was exceptional. Just do
me favor."

"What's that, sir?"

"Keep her in one piece," Rick said.

"I'll do my best," Karn said, then handed Rick a PADD.
"They're ready to begin production of the first Lancer
whenever you are."

"Very well. We begin in hour or so. There couple things I
need to go over first. Just to check things out."

"Aye, sir," Karn said. "Well, I need to report to the Detector.
Lieutenant Proietti will be taking my place."

Rick stood and shook Karn's hand.

"Good luck, Lieutenant," Rick said.

"Thank you, sir," Karn replied before turning and walking out
of the office.

Rick returned to his seat and sighed.

About 20 minutes later ...

"Computer, send message to Commander Ohmsford that we
ready to begin Lancer production."
