Chimerans!
Well, regretfully we must accept the resignation of Pont Brillant
this week. We wish the French Canadian well, and hope to see him soon.
Pont was to be a big part of the Chiemra's next plot, so please sit
tight while we scramble up plan B. Things have been pretty much
figured out, we'll have the plot in full swing by the end of the week.
Thanks for hanging in here guys.
NOTE! I have a LOT of unexcused absences this week. Remember, all it
takes to get an "E" is a message saying you won't be able to log this
week. We just want to make sure you're still interested in the sim.
2 new applicants this week! We'll be sure to let you guys know when
they're official. Also, Gorno goes on report this week for two weeks
straight of unexcused absences. GORNO! COME BACK! :)
Get logging!

- XO's Address
----------------------
Greetings Chimerans!
Unfortunately this week we have to say goodbye to PontBrillant who has
had to resign. We wish him all the best and he is welcome to return
anytime soon. The new mission for the Chimera looms closer and there
are some interesting developments for Unity in store as well. We have
a lot of new recruits, so please make them feel welcome and hit them
up for JL's to help them into the fold.
On another note, for those of you who are interested, the Academy is
looking for instructors (see OOC mail), so if you think you'd make a
good instructor and would like to help, please drop them a line.
Have a great week!

Second thoughts........
"Good morning, Cadet Brock," he said as he stood up and
extended his hand in greeting. "At ease. It doesn't matter
that you're late, at least you arrived..." but then stopped
his train of thought, thinking it probably wasn't a good
idea to go into the high mortality rates of new recruits
during war time.

<< Difficult to pick the best parts of this log as it was
all brilliant..>>
[USS Chimera] 240903.31, [SHIPYARD] Duty Log, Cdr Rick
Rodgers
But particularly....
On board the Detector, a small, thrown together bridge crew
was also waiting to move the ship out of dry dock following
the bottle hitting the ship.
Then, the big moment came as the bottle slammed against the
hull... and bounced off.
"That not good," Rick muttered. "Not good at all."
"Oh," Jo responded.
"It is said to be bad luck if the bottle doesn't break,"
Karn added.
"Yeah, good job Jo," Rick said sarcastically. "Now Detector
jinxed."
========================================================
..and the troubles continued.....
Rick beamed aboard the Detector to be greeted by Lieutenant
Gor Deverux, who had the captain's chair for the ships
departure from the shipyard.
"Sir, we beamed this on board just before you arrived,"
Deverux said, handing Rick the wine bottle that wouldn't
break during the Detector's christening.
Rick lifted the bottle up to the light and studied to for a
fee minutes.
"Not even a scratch," Rick said in somewhat awe. "We sure
this real bottle."
"Aye, sir. We even performed a scan on it."
"That so."
"What do you want us to do with it?" Deverux asked.
"I not know. Wine should be consumed, but not now. We have
tests to perform."
Commander Rick Rodgers Assistant Engineering Officer

=========================================================
Red Tape continues into 25th century......
Again, one could say that important things have to be cared
for … but the pain here is the word "important". Some
clerk in Federation bureau of medicine, department human
nutrition, sub department of experimental food control finds
out that the usage of Vulcan weed racio musli bars can
affect one's dexterity in cumulative effect of adrenaline
… and the Federation Bureau of Medicine immediately issues
a directive limited the usage of those Vulcan weed musli
bars for Special Forces branch.
Since the Bureau can't issue orders for military units …
the direction hit's the desk of a branch's Commander who
has to sign it and send to all units in his chain of
command. Trouble was that 80% of all PADDs on Shane's desk
were of a similar nature.
Commodore Shane Guzman CO, 1st Task Force, SSF Command CO,
SB 234: UNITY

An alternative to a quiet night in......................
"My pilots have have staked a claim on a place down a couple
of decks called The Riot Bar. Loud rock music, dark and
dingy plus the booze ain't watered down. Just the place for
a quiet uneventful drink."
**
Insane versus unhinged?................
For the most part its just requisition orders although the
regular psych reports usually make for disturbing reading.
Whilst we may not be the biggest department on the ship
we're definitely one of the more insane...it helps as often
as not when taking a fighter up against a Warbird."
Jade allowed herself a giggle, "well I have my own bunch of
unhinged people mainly the ones that enjoy doing routine
adjustments to the ship systems." Jade said following Anya,

Marine Captain Jade Reese Chief of Operations USS Chimera -

* SUBJECT LINES/LOGGING GUIDELINES/WEBSITE NEWS/IRC INFO *
==============================================
-------------------------
- Subject Lines
-------------------------
Please remember to use the following format for your subject lines:
SD 24YYMM.DD, Duty/Personal Log, Rank Name
e.g., SD 240502.01, CO's Log, Capt Rojac
e.g., SD 240502.01, Personal Log, Cropa Rojac
The [USS Chimera] part of the subject is placed automatically by the
listserv, so you don't need to include it.
Also remember to include your details at the end of your log
e.g.,
Captain Cropa Rojac
Commanding Officer
USS Chimera NX 96899-B
-------------------------
- Logging Guidelines
-------------------------
Logging:
The weekly logging deadline is at Midnight (12:00AM/00:00) GMT/UTC
(19:00 EST); all logs received after the deadline will be counted for
the following week. If you are pressed for time and would like a log
to count for the previous week, but it is sent after the deadline,
please send an email to the command team when you send the log so that
we can make the corrections.
Please remember that all MAJOR plot changes need to be cleared with
the command staff before a log goes through! You can do this by
sending the command staff (chimera-command@ucip.org ) a log labeled
with "Draft" tagged to the subject line. We'll typically let you know
if it's approved within 24 to 48 hours, or tell you what might need to
be modified before it's sent to the listserv.
When using other characters in your logs, please keep in mind that
person's characteristics. Character information can be found on the
UCIP website or the USS Chimera website (under CREW - just click on
the Star Trek symbol next to the character's name). If you're still
unsure how to interact with a character, then privately mail the
person
involved, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help.
Conversely, if you feel that your character is being portrayed
incorrectly by someone please contact them to try to work out an
agreeable solution. Just keep in mind when logging to treat other
characters the way you'd like them to treat you - with the respect due
to any member of Starfleet who is a specialist in their field.
If you think your log may be going out of bounds, then please ask! If
you are having problems finding things to write about or would just
like some help with your log, please contact your department head or
the command team. Remember, you don't always have to log about things
relating to the main plot - logs that develop your character's
personality are encouraged! We're eager to help if you're having
trouble; just email the command team (chimera-command@ucip.org).

-------------------------
Any officer who is Absent Without Leave (0) for two or more consecutive
weeks is considered "On Report." Crewmen on report should email the
command staff immediately to explain their absence (too much to do in
RL is a fine excuse) and say when they anticipate being able to log
again in the future.
The following crewmen are on report:

- Removals/Resignations
-------------------------
The following crew have either resigned or have been dropped due to
lack of activity. If they would like a position on the USS Chimera,
they will need to reapply.
