Athena stood in the middle of the room looking out the small holographic view port window.  She sensed more than heard when company joined her.  "You look tired," She said without turning to even see who it was.

"I feel it too.  To be honest I'm not even sure if its just the hours I'm putting in, this place it seems to weigh heavily upon us all.  Too much blood shed here, too many good people lost.  You look good if a little stressed."  Viktor replied

She turned and took the couple steps that would bring them toe-to-toe.  "I've had a few things on my mind," she said as she ran her fingers through the lightly graying hair at his temples.  "When did this start to happen?"

"Hard to tell really, the only time I look in the mirror these days is to shave and at those times I'm generally too tired to notice.  It's hard to say whether it's a part of my human genetics or if it's the hybrid aging process.  Enough about me though, what's been on your mind?"  He asked as he circled his arms around her placing one in the small of her back and the other on her shoulder blade.

Athena brushed a soft kiss across his lips as she enjoyed the warmth of having his arms around her and replied.  "My recent trip, the time I spent with Susan, a couple of dreams and a wedding date," she snuck the part about the dreams in making them sound innocent when they had been disturbing.

"Susan's been in contact with me since then.  She said someone was sending you a telepathic signal and that it disturbed you.  She managed to trace it back to a remote location but by the time the assault team arrived the target was gone.  What did the signal show you ?" Viktor asked.

"Things about you .. and me... do you think its important?"

"It may be dangerous.  From the intelligence that we have on the group that tried to contact you we know they aren't friendly.  They are definitely involved with people who aren't fond of the Alliance or the Hybrids.  What in particular did they show you?"  He pressed.

"That they would go to extremes to keep you and I from marrying which brings up something that I'd like to discuss.... a date ...instead of an unknown time in the future that others seem to want not to happen so sooner would surely be better than later."  Athena kept her gaze steady and left no doubt that she was totally serious.  She noticed the slight tic in his cheek as he flexed the muscle there.  {Wonder when he'll get over the shock and tell me exactly what he thinks... other that I'm being totally ridiculous.}

"I know I've told you a little about my past and you have access to classified SSF information.  What I'm going to ask you is deadly serious...How much do you actually know about the Ganymede Genetics Corporation?"  Viktor said in a serious tone.

"I know that their work was outlawed and you and the second fleet went into save the hybrids and were successful and the you personally destroyed those associated with Ganymede Genetics."  She reached out and laid her hand on his chest over his heart, "Vik, what do you want me to know?"

"What I'm about to tell you is Highly Classified.  Yes I finished off the remnants of the Ganymede Genetics Corporation but they were only the servants. The Ganymede Genetics Corporation had masters in an organization called The Legion.  Up until now we have thought that The Legion only operated actively through undercover and sleeper agents.  One of the sleeper agents you've met Ensign Mary Lomax, her last words before she blew her brains out was 'For The Legion'.  Recent intelligence gathering has indicated that The Legion may be operating its own unit of Hybrids although we cant estimate numbers as yet.  Both Susan and I think that your dream signal you received was from one of these Hybrids."  Viktor paused to see her reaction.

"So...maybe the hybrids don't want to be doing what they're being forced to do?"  She posed the question calmly and stepped away from him a step or two as she thought deeply.

"Or maybe this is a provocation to lure us into a trap or acting rashly.  I can't tell for certain until we receive further information from the tracker team.  I sure as hell hope this isn't a prelude to The Legion making their play...we aren't ready for them yet."  Viktor said absently.

"Are you ready to get married yet," Athena asked and turned to watch Viktor as his thoughts seemed to race far, far away from her.  "Or would actually having the ceremony be considered acting rashly?"

Viktor turned to look at her.  "Of course I'm ready to get married and no having the ceremony isn't acting rashly but having the ceremony according to the enemy's timetable is.  Besides I won't likely get any time off until we retake the Rios System or the Second Fleet is assigned elsewhere."

"So... I should wait until the wars over... and then what should I wait for?  Or will there be anything to wait for by then..... "  Athena turned so that her back was to Viktor and crossed her arms in front of her.  "...Maybe I won't be the one waiting..."

"I'm not saying we wait till there's no more enemies to fight because no matter how many we beat there's always going to be another one crawling out the woodwork.  This enemy in particular is dangerous though, they're unpredictable, stealthy, ruthless and very dangerous."  He said firmly.

{I understand the dangers he's talking about;  alluding to .... I just wish he'd realize that ....}  Athena closed her eyes and let her own thoughts drift away.

"I've already lost one wife to their predations, I don't want to lose another.  I hope you can understand why I'm being cautious on this."  Viktor said.

{You're not the only one who's lost a love.}  "Understand caution...unfortunately...."  She stood still {watch history repeat itself again ... damn that dream... we'll both be dead if my dream is anything to go by.}  As she continued to remember Susan's warning Athena shivered.  "Vik.. is it better to have one day of happiness or possible years of regret?"

"Possible years of regret could also be possible years of happiness.  Life is a gamble and you have to play for the big prize.  Why settle for less than what you truly desire ?" Viktor said.

With tears in her eyes causing them to look like twin pools of light blue, Athena turned to face him asking, "And what exactly are you planning for?"

"I plan for us to be happy together without the worry of assassins hanging over us.  Now I can't guarantee decades, I can't even guarantee years of happiness, not in these circumstances but I swear I will do everything in my power and beyond to make that happiness a reality."  He said grasping her shoulders.

"I'd take a single day, but you know I'd want more..."

"Then help me fight them then.  You're an intelligent and talented woman.  Your help would be much appreciated."  Viktor replied.

"You didn't find me helpful in the meeting..... " she gave a small smile.  "Send me a date that's sooner versus later .... after all I already have the dress,"  she said hopefully and planted a kiss on him that he deepened.

Viktor sighed "If my schedule was up to me you'd have a date already."  He then smiled broadly "You have the dress?  Whats it like?"

"Whitish and you'll have to wait to the wedding day."  She gave a wink and smirked.  "Oh yeah,  its long too.  curiosity can be incentive... can't it?"
