<<OOC … just a short log covering my RL absence.>>

===== Sickbay, USS Qashqai ======

Shane opened his eyes and looked at the ceiling. He felt
well … very well to be honest. All seemed to be fine and
there were no worries on his mind. The ceiling looked a bit
unfamiliar, but why bother?

"Commodore, can you hear me?" sounded a voice near by.

{Sure thing} Shane said to himself, but found it rather
difficult to open his mouth and actually say it.

"Commodore Guzman, its Lieutenant Lendra, can you hear
me?" said the same voice again.

With some effort, Shane managed to say: "Yes, sure I can
hear you, why?" His voice sounded somewhat croaky, like an
old thirsty frog.

"Do you know what happened?" Lendra asked.

Shane looked sideways at the person next to him. Lendra was
a middle aged woman, clad in teal collared uniform, not very
familiar to him. Shane remembered that he chose her for the
Qashqai crew cause her xeno-biology background … as
addition to her 10 years of medical experience in SSF. With
this thought, Shane suddenly remembered where he was …
this was Qashqai's sickbay … and his was on a mission to
save Rangi, Martin and Varis.

"What the hell!?" Shane cursed and sat up on the biobed.
There were two more persons present, both clad in marine
green, wearing medical badges. Shane's guess was that both
belonged to the two ODA units on board. The door to the
small sickbay was guarded by two tall security man, both
armed with rifles.

"What happened?" he asked – replying the previous
answer as well.

"You were poisoned, sir" Lendra answered. "24 hours
ago you just dropped unconscious on the bridge. Since that
you are in the sickbay and only four hours ago we were able
to find out what kind of poison you were exposed to. It's
a three reagent polymorphic poison, each reagent is harmless
alone, but once all three are present, they morph into a
highly toxic agent, deadly in most cases. You were lucky to
be here … a fast treatment was essential. Would this
happen somewhere else … where you would not receive
medical attention immediately … you would be dead now"

Shane sighed and closed his eyes. "Thank you" he said
finally, "I feel lucky today. Were you able to determine
the origin of the poison?" he asked. Lendra nodded:
"Yes, it's romulan."

"Damn" Shane muttered. It looked like that Tal'shiar
had the situation firm in hand that he was a fool believing
he could escape their wrath. Thinking about his family,
Shane asked again: "Did we receive any messages when I was
… sick?"

Lendra shrugged: "I do not know, sir. All I know is that
there is a priority message from UNITY waiting for you.
Commander Darel, who took command on the ship since you were
here inquired about your status several hours back. He
mentioned the message"

Nodding, Shane asked: "Lieutenant, is there any medical
reason I should not assume command?"

Lendra shook her head slowly: "Hmm … no, Sir. I
recommend at least 12 hours of rest for you …"

He sentence stayed unfinished as Shane already left the room
