[USS Chimera] SD 240907.09 || JL || SB 234: UNITY || Capt. Rojac, MCap Davis & Lt. Mumacik ||

[Brig and Armory - Fleet Level - SB 234: UNITY]

"This way, Captain." The Security Officer at the reception desk said as he stood and motioned toward the door.

Rojac followed the Second Lieutenant down the corridor toward the holding cells. He thought about the scare Kroitzer's technician gave UNITY and the ship, and about leaving Ryana in his room as such short notice. And now he was finding his new Security Chief locked up in a holding cell on UNITY. This R&R was turning sour quickly.

"In through this door, sir." The Ensign said, disengaging the force field.

Rojac nodded and said, "Thank you." Before passing the marine officer and the enlisted guards at the door. He continued down the hallway until he arrived at the cell. Inside he saw a human standing quite erect with his shoulders back. His hands were held behind his back as he turned with an eyebrow raised toward the Captain. He carried himself like a Vulcan. Mumacik, Rojac thought, remebering the Lieutenant's file. Sitting on the bunk was a rather disheveled looking Marine Captain, presumably Channer Davis. Rojac stood there for a moment, until the Fleet Security Chief acknowledged him.

Mumacik turned around as someone entered the area. He saw a tall human male, sharp eyed with a funny beard… wearing the rank of (naval) Captain. The chances were quite high him being Captain Cropa Rojac, CO of USS Chimera. Nodding towards the officer, he said: "Captain Rojac, I am Lieutenant Mumacik, Chief of Fleet level security… what can I do for you, sir?"

"What are his charges, Lieutenant?" Rojac asked, cutting to the chase.

The force field of the cell was not lowered yet and Rojac was outside the cell … with Davis and Mumacik inside. Since there was no valid reason to drop the force field, Mumacik did not gave such an order. Matters of courtesy were FAR behind him.

"There are no official charges yet, sir" Mumacik replied. "Mr. Davis is about to be questioned in cases of unauthorized entering of a VIP quarters in a secure zone and resistance while arrested"

"Anything to add, Mr. Davis?" the Captain asked.

Davis looked at his new commanding officer, and smiled. "Nothing, sir."

Cropa struggled hard to supress a smirk, and instead turned abruptly toward Lieutenant Mumacik. "Very well then. You may release him, Lieutenant."

Mumacik's face remained motionless and nothing showed that he was surprised about the sudden order. Some would call it suicidal, but it was just logical for him … Mumacik shook his head and said in a matter-of-fact tone: "I have to decline your request, Captain Cropa Rojac. This man is under arrest and will stay so until UNITY's JAG department decides to charge Mr. Davis or release him free"

"As Captain of the Starship Chimera and Commanding Officer of Mr. Davis, I am taking him into my custody. This is a right granted to me under SSF Wartime regulations." Rojac
said, ignoring the raised eyebrow of the Security Chief. He looked down at Davis. "On your feet, Mr. Davis."

With the smirk still on his face, the Marine Captain stood.

Mumacik considered Cropa's statement. He was not considering Cropa's rank and position, since he knew Captain Rojac was not in his chain of command. Connections and behind-the-scene powers meaned little to him (what was one of the reasons he was still a Lieutenant). He would decline again with no hesitation, wouldn't he knew that Rojac was right. It was indeed a CO's right to ask his crew to be transferred into his custody if the crew was charged with no capital crime. If Davis would kill someone on UNITY, not even Admiral Janeway would force Mumacik to
release him free.

Nonetheless… Mumacik nodded and motioned one of his security guards to lower the force field. Looking straight at Rojac, Mumacik said: "Captain Cropa Rojac, Commanding officer of USS Chimera. I hereby transferring Marine Captain Davis into your custody. I will pass all available documents about this accident to UNITY's JAG department and expect you to inform the JAG department about your legal decision in this case."

"Thank you for your cooperation, Lieutenant." Rojac replied, keeping eye contact with UNITY's Security Chief. Then he looked toward Davis and turned to walk out. "Mr. Davis, if you will follow me."

"Yes sir." The Marine nodded. On the way out he grinned to Mumacik saying, "Have a good day, Lieutenant." Then he turned and followed the Captain down the hall.
