[Bridge - Deck One - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C]

"Lay in a course for the gate, best speed.  Any and all power we have
from  non-essential systems including the SRA reroute to weapons and
shields." Walters ordered.

"Aye aye!" Dior complied. The half-betazoid helm officer ran her
slender fingers across the pitch controls and took the ship hard to
port on an exit course from the small asteroid field. She felt the
engines shudder slightly as she increased the throttle and fired the
port RCS thrusters to keep the vessel from drifting due to the
inactivity of the port impulse drive. "Best speed, point-seven-one c."
She reported, and then held her breath. The asteroid field was their
only protection from the thalaron weapons, but it seemed the XO was
willing to take fate head-on.

"Yes sir." Ian said the first thing he did was starter rerouting all
power that was going to the SRA and moving it to the shields. He then
sent a message down to the ODCC to start shutting down non-essential
systems and transferring the power to the weapons. While he did the
same from the bridge and transferring the power to the shields and
then giving some to helm so it would be easier to maneuver the ship.

Mike spared a quick, grateful nod in the Operations Officer's
direction before he started tapping his own commands into the main
tactical console. What little he had left in the way of weapons, he
quickly locked onto as many targets as he could, focusing on their
weapons systems to try and guarantee the chance of a second shot. All
he could think of at that moment was Tennyson's 'Charge of the Light
Brigade,' and was hoping that the Chimera would not have the same fate
as those brave six-hundred. "Targets acquired, Major. Ready for your
order and weapons range."

Walters opened the channel to the fighter wing "Major Xerxes I need
your Lancers to race ahead dump every bit of heavy ordinance they have
onto the remaining Thelaron Cruiser before their reinforcements
arrive.  Use your Anti-Ship Missiles to take out the engines first
then start dropping the full size torps.  Have Windhover Squadron
provide medium range intercept support for Chimera as we only have the
primary phaser arrays online.  Keep them busy till we can get in
weapons range."  Walters turned to the Science console "Leftenant
Carpenter whats the gate disgorging this time?  I need numbers and
details yesterday."

Lieutenant Carpenter called "One unknown ship, whatever it is its big."

The captain of the Gien'rva gave a satisfied chuckle and grinned.  His
more ambitious fellow Sub-Commanders had paid the price for their
arrogance with their lives and now he was about to finish the match.
There hadn't been a scheduled duty relief planned so it was likely one
of the evacuation convoys and those were usually escorted by one or
two of the big War Cruisers which he could pull rank on as site
commander.  The grin faded as the viewscreen changed to show the tip
of the ship emerging through the gate "Evasive..."

On the expansive bridge of the EAS Samson, Nikolai gave the order
"Forward Batteries, Fire" and at once the forward Heavy Fixed Arclight
Batteries opened up on the Romulan Thelaron Cruiser.  Had the Romulan
Ship been facing an comparable Erassian ship like a 6th Generation
Destroyer it would have had time to put up at least some sort of fight
but the Samson was Tyrant Class.  The biggest, meanest, deadliest and
most advanced ship the Erassian Alliance had ever (and now would ever)
produced.  The Arclight beams burned through the Romulan Shields and
then through the ship itself.  After the beams cut off only a few
small lifeless fragments of the Thelaron Cruiser remained to float
through space.

From her forward vantage point Anya watched as the massive ship that
had destroyed the Thelaron Cruiser with so little effort exited the
gate.  Sensors were giving next to no information about the ship, all
it could do was make estimated guesses at the size and shape of the
ship.  The ship was jet black and when Anya looked closely it looked
almost as if the the darker areas within the black moved...organic
hull tech?  The shape of the ship though was familiar, it looked a
little like the 5th Generation Cruiser EAS Oceanus that had taken up
control of the Canna System after the capture of the Breen base on
Chimera's last mission, but it was a lot bigger.  Sensors estimated
about four miles long.  Anya brought up the first contact scripting
used by the Federation.  'On behalf of the United Federations of
Planets I welcome you'...scrapped.  "Unknown vessel, this is Major
Xerxes of the USS Chimera-C.  Identify yourself immediately."

Anya had heard nearly every response to that demand imaginable but she
wasn't prepared for the one she recieved.  There was an audio reply
over a comm line filled with static "Aunty Anya?"

Anya looked to her immediate right where her wingmate Cerwynn was flying.  She could see into the cockpit as Cerwynn looked towards her shaking her head and miming an 'I don't know' gesture.  "Unknown vessel, you want to clarify that last statement?"

The response was less surprised in tone this time and more measured.  "I think perhaps that may be something more suited to being discussed in person.  Say Chimera in 3 minutes?  Oh and in response to your question, this ship is the EAS Samson and I am her Commanding Officer, Colonel Nikolai Ivanov. Samson out."
