[Main Shuttle Bay (Lower Level) - Deck 16 - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C]
Captain Cropa Rojac was the first out of the Shuttlecraft Serpent's hatch as it lowered to the deck. He waved over the waiting medical team with their gurneys to attend to Cortez and the other deceased members of his squad. Rojac was worried about it, but Fisher had the situation well in hand and it was best to stay out of the doctor's way. Besides - the monstrous ship that came through the gate held a more pressing matter in his line of duties.
Major Walters was standing next to the medical team, and the Captain made his way in their direction.
"Samson maneuver?" Rojac began, "I didn't know that meant summoning a super-ship from an alternate dimension."
"Sometimes I surprise the hell out of even myself Captain. Usually that means finishing just that little bit ahead of expectations but this..." Walters said before shaking his head. He couldn't quite wipe the slight grin off his face though.
An operations team moved in to debrief the shuttle crew, so Rojac and Walters began making their way toward Transporter Room 1 to welcome their guests. "What do we know, Major?" Rojac asked, his hands held tight behind his back as they made their way down the hallway toward the turbolift.
"Almost nothing unfortunately. You probably got as much of the conversation as we did. Erassian Alliance Starship Samson, commanded by Colonel Nikolai Ivanov. Judging by the power output of those Arclight Cannons used to destroy the last Thelaron Cruiser and the level of stealth tech on it. I'd guess at least 25 to 30 years ahead of current Alliance tech which seems to tie in with the assessment from First Task Force HQ on that Harker person's autopsy." Walters said leading the way into the Turbolift
"Deck four." Rojac ordered the turbolift. "I imagine Major Xerxes is meeting us in the conference room."
"Well I suggested it would be easiest to meet us there but having done that she'll almost definitely not." Walters said wryly stepping out of the turbolift as it stopped.
Sure enough as they stepped into Transporter Room One she was already waiting there still in her flight suit minus the helmet. Her hair stuck to the side of her face in a few places with perspiration. Anya turned and looked at them "What took you so long?" She said jokingly.
"I would attribute it to old age, Major, but I wasn't the one called 'Aunty.'" Rojac replied before turning to the Chief Petty Officer manning the room's control console. "Chief, do you have them?" The
Captain asked.
"Aye sir." The engineer responded. "I'm acquiring the lock now. Ready on your order."
Rojac glanced to the man an woman on either side of him. "Places everyone." He took a deep breath. "Energize."
There was the whir of the transporter and standing in front of them was what looked to be a Human male around 25 years of age. Anya studied him objectively as the transport finished. He had short, jet black hair and striking blue eyes with a bone structure which looked sculpted by a master. His body was lean and muscular...Anya abandoned her 'objective' analysis lest she blush.
"Colonel Ivanov, welcome aboard the USS Chimera." Rojac said as the materialization process completed.
"Captain Rojac I presume. You look quite a bit younger than some of the press photos I've seen of you but that's understandable. Major Walters you look younger as well, fairly fit and healthy which I take it means the divorce is almost over." Nikolai turned. "And you are definitely not the Anya 'Ironheart' Xerxes I remember which I will admit is a good thing."
Anya couldn't tell if that was a compliment or insult so she replied "I don't know you at all Colonel Ivanov, I'll refrain on labeling that good or bad."
Walters looked uncomfortable at Nikolai's words "Pleasure to meet you Colonel Ivanov."
"You assume correctly, Colonel." Rojac said. "I hope in your time that my beard is not too gray." He cracked a smile. "Will you please join us in the Conference room, Colonel?"
When they arrived in the conference room, the guards closed he doors behind them as the group of four took their seats. The Captain sat at the head of the table with his guest to the right of him. Across the table sat Majors Walters and Xerxes.
Cropa crossed his arms atop the table. "You look strikingly familiar, Colonel. I believe I must know both of your parents." He sighed, "But that is a curiosity that can wait for another time. First, I must thank you for arriving when you did. You and your ship have saved my ship and crew. But second I must ask: what the hell is going on?"
Walters suppressed a shiver going up his spine as he thought of the horror buried within his old base under Charos VI. {The end of the world.. I bet they had a hand in it even if this Ivanov doesn't know or isn't saying.}
Anya on the other hand was breathing a silent sigh of relief that he hadn't said the name of the real enemy. She had seen enough through Prophet to know what Colonel Ivanov's ship was designed to fight. It wasn't that she distrusted Rojac or Walters but the room hadn't been swept and it wasn't her decision to involve them yet.
