====== Shane's office, SB 234: UNITY

As Shane's aide announced someone called MCpt. Jade Reese
coming as ordered, he was for a moment uncertain who the guy
was. He looked at the brief info send from his aide and
realized that the "guy" was in fact a woman, Chief
operations officer of USS Chimera – currently off duty due
medical condition. With the words of 'off duty' and 'medical
condition' a light went up in Shane's head and he remembered
that it was Rangi who commentated the officer to his
attention. He pressed a button, giving MCpt. Reese
permission to enter.
Jade stood up and walked into the office she quickly made
time to the desk and stood at attention and gave the Admiral
a clean crisp salute. "Marine Captain Jade Reese reporting
as ordered." She said looking straight past the Admiral and
at the wall behind him.
"Ah Captain, please take a seat" Shane said towards the
Chimera's Chief Operations and motioned to one of the three
chair in front of his desk. "Anything to drink?" he asked
politely.
Jade nodded and took a seat in the middle one, "coffee
please sir." Jade said always feeling at a loss in the
morning if she didn't have her cup of coffee. She then took
the time to look around the office the only places she had
been on UNITY was her temp quarters, sickbay and some stores=====

small training facility with seminar rooms and holodecks for
practical training on deck 121. I'll have you assigned as
Chief instructor for operations ... on a temporal basis
until you assume your duty on Chimera. I'd make the
assignment permanent, but I am sure that Captain Rojac would
not be very happy about losing you."
"Sounds lovely." Jade said smiling remembering her CO giving her two options for career development within SFMC one was to become a drill instructor to go back to officer school and become an officer. Jade decided on the latter she wanted to pursue an officer advancement and then she threw a curve ball by signing up at the academy to become an operations officer. So she was glad to be getting this opportunity to be able to teach future operations officers. "Yes I'm sure that Captain Rojac would fight you on that decision." Jade said with a slight smirk.
Leaning back in his chair, Shane replied: "I do expect
regular drills from you. Forge those ensigns into officers
that won't need a toilet the instant a Romulan Warbird
appears on sensors. Get familiar with UNITY's senior ops
officers and ask them for assistance when needed"
"Aye sir." Jade said knowing that she was scared the first time she came face to face with a Romulan ship but she was lucky she had years of Marine training to keep her focused and calm. But like the Admiral said these are fresh Ensigns from the academy and all they had simulations even through that's what they would have here but it's better then nothing.
"One more things, Captain" Shane said with some more focus
in his voice, "please do not take this assignment too
serious. You're on light duty and Commander Summers would
cause me more then one headache if your condition should get
worse because of this assignment. Agreed?"
"Agreed. I'll limit my time in the class room and holodecks." Jade said knowing the last thing the Admiral would want was the CMO coming to him about this.
Shane nodded towards the woman. He was aware that it was
generally known that Rangi and he lived together having even
a son, so she would understand *how* a Commander could give
a headache to an Admiral. "Very well then, if there is
nothing from your side, then I wish you much luck in your
new assignment". With that Shane stood up and walked over to
Jade to shake her hand.
Standing up Jade took the Admirals hand, "thank you sir for this assignment sir." Jade said smiling glad to have something to do besides wander the promenade or sit in her quarters."I won't let you down sir." Jade added as they let go of each others hands Jade then gave one more nod to the Admiral and headed out of his office and back to her quarters to get a good nights rest before the teaching would begin.
