She halted abruptly mid-speech and held a hand to hear ear looking questionably off-scene. She nodded to someone, and turned back to the camera with a nervous smirk.
"I apologize." She stammered. "Something has just come in. We're getting mixed reports of a bombing in the Vulcan city of Shi'kahr. Authorities have yet to comment, but GNN sensors have picked up what appears to be a large explosion in the city next to the volatile tectonic region of Vulcan's Forge. We expect to here more from them soon."
She smiled weakly and continued with the planed script. "Back to Cestus III where ---"
She held a hand up to her ear again. "I'm sorry." She held a hand over her microphone and said something to someone off-screen again. The camera's couldn't pick-up what was said - only her moving mouth - but everyone felt the sense of dread that she exuded when she held a hand over her mouth in ghastly surprise.
"Ladies and gentlemen, an explosion has been registered north of San Francisco as well only one minute ago." She said, taking a deep breath to compose herself. "Sensors registered multiple warp core explosions in a Starfleet controlled transit station attached to Starfleet Headquarters in San Francisco. Again, we must wait for an update from Federation sources on the matter, but we are sending personnel to the scene."
A glimmer of a tear could be seen in the corner of the anchorwoman's eye. "As always, stay tuned to GNN for the latest. We work around the clock to keep the Federation up to date. We'll be back after a short break."
The screen faded out to the GNN logo.
