[Tactical Advisor's Office - SB 234: UNITY]
Chisulo sequestered himself in his dark office off to the side of the base's Situation Room. He was accessing SSF Research and Devlopment's database and searching for weapons upgrades that would be beneficial to the station, as per the Commodore's orders.
True, this task was more mundane than the Captain's recent incursion into Romulan space. Chisulo led four 1TF ships into comabt at Khasazi Pass and captured a Romulan Research outpost. Researching new weapons systems was a little less action-packed, but it did intrigue the Tactical advisor.
He found several systems he wanted to implement into UNITY's defense network:
1) Auto-targetting Point-Defense Phaser Arrays for use in missile/torpedo defense.
2) Auto-targetting Dual Pulse phaser cannons that are programmed to target the nearest enemy vessel. These are integral in a fight where multiple enemy fighter craft are engaged with the station.
3) Shield Reinforcement Deflector pulse to aid the defending vessels.
All three systems were experimental systems that were scheduled to be tested on the Century Class prototype vessels. Those vessels were recomissioned into a combat role 6 months ago with the start of the war, and the destructions of the Manticore and Chimera.
Chisulo would need help from Engineering in setting up a network of pulse phaser turrets and tactical deflectors throughout UNITY's hull. The schemtatics for the devices were already int he database, but he needed a plan. He delegated the task to Lieutenant Garrison in the tactical labs to come up with te most effecient scheme, and then went on to compiling his report to Commodore Guzman and LtColonel PontBrillant.
After a cup of rooibos tea, Chisulo sat back down at his desk and set up the patrol schedule for the following day. The USS Hindenburg's two squadrons were splitting up the patrol duty within the Aeran sector with SB Unity's own squadrons. The workload was so that UNITY got 00:00 to 12:00 and the HIndenburg worked from 12:00 to 24:00. This left patrols outside the system to the luna class USS Amalthea and the Akira class USS Akira. The USS Qashqai remained on call.
Chisulo typed up his tactical report, and then left for dinner in the mess hall.
