[USS Chimera] SD:240811.25, Duty Log, MCap Joeleco 283

-=- Starbase 234 - UNITY -=-

"For those of you just arrived, welcome to Bravo Company, Starfleet

Special Forces 1st Task Force, Expeditionary Force, my name is

Captain Joeleco Two-Eighty-Three."

Joeleco looked the new draft of troopers over. There were two platoons

were of new arrives which finally meant that hir company was up to

full strength, and it only took six months. Actually Joeleco could not

complain as s/he now had more troopers than a standard company.

It would have been impossible for someone to tell which were the

new arrives as they were all standing in the formation at parade rest

and they were a combination of mixed uniforms and ranks but they were

completely unarmed as was standard for personnel while the station

was at a 'green' status, however they looked very out of place as

everyone else including Joeleco were armed with their rifles over

their shoulders and side arms on their hips. Joeleco had hid a grin when

they had seen all the other members of the company armed and likely

wondered if they were going into combat, although the lack of armour

and grenades should have hinted that they were not.

Joeleco had already looked up the troopers '201s', and s/he was

generally satisfied. S/he had a couple of had cases, including one

Petty Officer that had been a Chief not once but twice, and there

was a Sergeant that had been part of The Stand six months ago but

had been on leave ever since. But mostly they were good troops

on paper. When s/he had got done with them they would be great

troops. Now for the lecture, so that they would be absolutely clear

were the company commander stood.

"For those of you, most of you, who have not been in combat

against the Romulans, you are not ready. For those of you who

have been in combat against the Romulans, you are not ready. If

an SSF Expedition Force is called into a fight it means one of two

things. One, the mission is considered impossible for regular marines

or ground-pounders or, two, that federation forces have already

been overwhelmed and we are being sent to plug the gap. We will

always be outnumbered and often surrounded. Thus the way you

will fight the Romulans, the way we will fight the Romulans, is

brutally simple. Get a good position, hunker down, call for all the

fire support possible and kill as many as you can until you are

almost overwhelmed, then move to the next position as fast as

you can and do it all again."

At the back of the formation Joeleco could see slight and wiry

Petty Officer 3rd Class Nathan Trapp looking over the group. He

was one of six 'UFOP Space, Air and Land Forces' - Also

known as SEALS - on the Chimera - B. The six Seals had killed

triple their own number in that final battle but Trapp was the only

one out of the six that managed to make it off the Chimera alive,

he had done so dragging the injured Joeleco the last two decks.

He was not yet rated high enough to be the senior NCO of the

company but that was were Joeleco wanted him, until then he was

the company scout leader, and Joeleco suspected that he was

doing the same thing as Joeleco, scanning the group and wondering

where their losses would come from. The tall guy in first Platoon?

The sexy blond Corporal in second? That new Sergeant who had been

away for six months? New Guy? Old? Joeleco nodded internally and

went on.

"While you are with this Company, your only thought should be to

kill Romulan troops. If you love your family, put them out of your

mind. I have a son. Expect for a small compartment deep within myself,

I could care less. I live, breathe and eat solely to kill Romulans."

Joeloce inhaled deeply, s/he could not wait to get into combat.

"Remember, you are no longer Airborne or Marine or Seal or Strike,

you are Special Forces Expeditionary Force. You may respond

'Airborne' or 'Semper Fi' as you wish, but remember, the persons

you are training with, whether they came from the same background

as you or not, will be the people you will be fighting with. Six

months ago this station was defended by a rag tag mix of Federation

personnel, this unit embodies their spirit and you will not betray

that spirit. We have fifty tw…. fifty three members of 'two hundred'

that made a stand here six months ago, you will notice them by the

gold 200 pin on their collar. They are elite, mean and they kill

Romulans for fun, and so will you. I expect nothing less than one

hundred percent of your mind body and soul, you all will have heard

that before, but do not fuck with me. Play games with me and I

will have you transferred to a prison-unit so fast that the paper

work will take a year to catch up. You all volunteered to be here,

if you want out say so and it will be acted upon."

Joeleco took a deep breath, "one final word, we are at war. We

could be deployed within thirty minutes notice and we might have

to defend this station at the drop of a hat. Everyone is to be

constantly armed. Go nowhere unarmed, if you are lucky enough

to get laid, your rifle had better have a good view of the action." That

was always good for a laugh but the sentiment was very real.

"Officers fall into my office at twenty-one hundred hours.

Dismissed.!" Joeleco straightened hir uniform, now for the hard

part a meeting with the Hermit Ambassador. Joeleco strolled over

to Trapp thinking that s/he might need some help for this one….
