Jade was in her office looking over some technical writings about
tachyon she was still familiarizing herself with it mainly because she
hadn't work with it and also didn't have to work with it while in the
Marine Corps. But once switching to a ship she realized that she had
some reading to do on more special communications rather then ground
communication, " Vargas can you come in here?" Jade said shouting a
little, so her yeoman could here her.

Vargas stood up and walked to the door, "what can I do for you
Captain?" Vargas said trying not to smile still getting used to the
promotion.

"I need you send a message to Captain Xerxes asking her if she had the
time for a meeting with myself and Lt JG Kroitzer hopefully today let
her know that it's about breaking communication jamming." Jade said.

Vargas nodded, "yes ma'am." Vargas said turning around and heading
back to her desk with the PADD with the bullet points on it. It took
Vargas a few minutes to get the message ready and send it.

Anya was finishing up her packing in her Quarters on Deck 2 and heard
the message arriving at her desk terminal immediately. Upon reading
the message Anya send a message saying she would be there in 10
minutes but that she would be gone later on today for a few days.  She
sent the message without any details as to where she was going or any
means of contacting her but the CO already had that information in
case of emergency.

Jade was going over reports when her computer beeped notifying her
that she had a new message it was from Xerxes stating that she would
be their in ten minuets. +taps+ Lt Kroitzer can you meet me in my
office in the ODCC in ten minuets? +taps+ Jade asked hoping he would
and if not she still could hold the meeting, but she wanted Kroitzer
to be their to explain the tachyon aspect of the design.

Gustav was still working on the environmental controls when his comms
badge chirped with a message from marine captain Reese asking him to
attend a meeting, he replied that he would be there in a few minutes,
he gave orders to the other engineers working on the systems then
left.

As me entered the room he noticed Capt Xerxes and nodded in her
direction and took a seat in the office.

Once everyone was in the office Jade become, "the reason I've called
you two here is to discuss and hopefully make a final decision on the
best way to defeat communication jamming. I've spoken to both of you
separately, but now I think we've an idea for the best way to deal
with communication jamming." Jade said eager to let them know the
ideas.

"The idea is very simple it is to use a tachyon beam along with a
laser beacon to cut through the jamming field I am not as well versed
in what tachyon is, so I'll let Lt Kroitzer explain that part. As for
the laser beacon it would be effective only if the the laser is
pointing to the ship or Starbase you want to make contact with, but
that means it would make you a sitting duck while you try to make
contact with that ship or Starbase." Jade said she then pointed to Lt
Kroitzer to start his idea dealing with the tachyon.
"Thank you Captain" Gustav said before going on with his idea for a
tachyon relay system. As he stood up from his chair as he hit button
on the desk in front of him to bring up a basic plan on the main
display in the room, he had been working on how the tachyon relay
system would work ever since Reese had asked his opinion.

"Well as some of you might know we use a tachyon grid to detect
cloaked vessels, Romulan or not, well we also use tachyon relays for
long range communications over areas that subspace transmissions wont
work" he paused before carrying on.

"Generally the transmissions had to be sent from a Starbase or a
specially modified ship because of the high power requirements needed
for the transmission but over a short distance, lets say a
battlefield, the power would be drastically reduced, to the point that
I think that a fighter would be able to utilise the relay system".

"So what do you think Captain Xerxes?" Jade asked hoping that she did
like the idea and hoping that she would have some input on how to
implement this into her fighters or even just to a shuttlecraft of
some sort.

"The Alliance already uses laser transmissions as backups in case of
jamming.  The only reason they used the running lights instead of the
lasers was Chimera - B wasn't set up to receive them.  Laser
transmissions do have problems though.  The narrower the beam used the
stronger and more secure the transmission but the harder it is to hit
the destination target but the wider the beam it's weaker and less
secure but far more likely to be received by the intended party.  What
was the beam diameter were you thinking of using?"  Anya said as she
stood casually leaning against the wall.

"Would it be possible to allow the pilot or RIO or even an operations
personnel to adjust the diameter, so we could have choice?" Jade asked
not liking to make it a locked diameter when in certain situation a
narrower one would work better and then in another situation a wider
would work better.

"It's certainly possible but definitely not desirable.  Diverting your
attention in battle isn't wise and in a dogfight even less.  Also
granted any major power loss from a fighters capability isn't
desirable either.  Whilst you may be protected by heavy hull plating
in a capital ship we in the fighters are walking the knife edge." Anya
replied bluntly.

"When we used laser beacons on the ground we used to show where a
fighter/bomber or just a bomber could deploy their payload, so we used
a more narrower diameter because we had to make sure it wouldn't hit
any friendlies." Jade said knowing that her workings with lasers were
limited, but the lasers she worked with had an easy adjustment then
again these were hand held and the one she was talking about would be
going on fighters or starships.

"The problem isn't that laser designators are not accurate, they are
used to pinpoint air to ground precision strikes for just that
purpose.  However try to target a moving fighter is a completely
different proposition, even at a distance of a quarter of a light
minute laser transmissions are going to be too slow even backed by
tachyon particles.  Think of it this way could you shoot a buzzing fly
at five hundred metres with a sniper rifle?  No of course not. To be
able to beat a widespread jamming signal you either need one of three
things.  One, a far more powerful broadcast source.  Two, a blanket
counter-jamming signal which covers the entire combat area and beyond.
Three, a way to trace the jamming signal so as to know where to blow
shit up.  As options on and two involve either rewriting the laws of
physics or a research grant equal to the global debt of a third world
planet I suggest option three.  Perhaps if you could figure out a way
to use that tachyon beam as a communications dipstick if you will to
trace the jamming signal." Anya replied with a small sigh.
Jade nodded agreeing that the lasers were perfect for precision
bombing missions and trying to hit a laser onto a moving fighter that
is trying to dogfight would never happen and like Captain Xerxes said
it would also cause danger to the fighter pilot. "I like the idea and
that way once we figure out who is doing the jamming we could
eliminate them which would get rid of the jamming for that battle."
Jade said looking over at Gustav, "what your thoughts Lt?" Jade asked
knowing that he came up with the idea of the tachyon beam she just
wanted to make sure he also agreed with it.

"Well I guess if we attached a focused tachyon emitter to one of your
recon craft" Gustav said while looking at Anya, continuing, "we could
use almost like a high tech sonar, we could bounce the signal towards
a ship of our choosing and the weaker the return signal the most
likely that's your ship, there is one problem though, for that to work
the transmitter would have to be very high powered, which means
stripping most of the equipment off of the craft and channeling most
of the power to the transmitter".

"I like the tachyon emitter that way we would be able to find the source
and remove it instead of trying to beat it." Jade said, "I'll speak with the
CO and XO about this and hopefully we can get going on this as soon as
we can." Jade said smiling, "I would like to thank you both for your
continuous help on this project." Jade added.

Anya gave a slight chuckle of laughter "Well it benefits us all not to have
to deal with Romulan jamming.  It's beneficial to life expectancy or so I
hear.  If you do get into the design phase please make it as small and
lightweight as possible, remember we have to lug the thing around."  Anya
turned around and exited the room with a mock salute saying "I expect to
hear great things."

[USS Chimera] SD:240903.28 Personal Log, MCapt. Anya Xerxes [Design Phase Log]

----------
Start Log

Anya was sitting in the passenger lounge aboard the ACS Goliath during the journey to Trill waiting for Alecto get back from the diplomatic transmissions she had to deal with.  Her mind drifted to her new side project the AX-03 Halberd.  When she had told the Captain that the AX-03 Halberd was at an early stage she wasn't kidding.

At this point all she had in her head was ideas about the capabilities needed for the craft.  It needed to pack a significant punch, it needed to have heavy defensive capabilities and it needed to be capable of delivering accurate munitions on both ground and space targets.  The Captain had mentioned a close air support role as well for the Halberd the only thing was she wasn't sure exactly what he meant by that whether he wanted a frontline fighter-bomber like the old 20th Century GR.4 Tornado, a specialised ground attack assault fighter like the A-10 Warthog or a battlefield domination craft like the AC-130 Spectre Gunship.

The first one could be ruled out as that profile was already filled by the existing Z-105 Shadows that she had in her unit would fit that bill with the added advantage of stealth ergo an F-117 Nighthawk with better manoeuvrability.   The second held possibilities in its role and the armaments that it carried with a little tweaking for the 25th Century.  The third would take some work to try and incorporate into the plan.  The key to it all hinged on being able to utilise lightweight armour with high defensive capabilities…in essence she needed the Voyager files unlocked for at least an attempt to recreate alternate Janeway's upgraded ablative armour.  That however depended on Captain Rojac's persuasiveness.

With these things now thought about there was the vaguest form of the AX-03 Halberd coming into view.  People in Starfleet said that the design of the AX-02 was unique but in reality it had been based on the SU-47 Berkut.  The thought Anya had in mind for the AX-03 Halberd on the other hand was frankly not similar to anything she had ever seen before, in fact she doubted anyone had ever seen something like this before.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of one of the Goliath's bridge crew "Captain Xerxes we are ten minutes from Trill orbit and your personal craft and the Ambassadors have been prepped for launch.  You can leave at your convenience any time you both are ready, local time is 1047 hours."

Anya acknowledged the young officer with a smile and a nod.  Whilst the Goliath was one of Arondight Corporation's own highly armed freighter/personnel transport it was built on a wartime provision order for the Erassian Alliance Military.  As such the Goliath was manned by inexperienced reservists to which Anya couldn't help feeling somehow senior to.  Whilst she herself was only 24 she still felt far older, perhaps this was what Viktor during the Solrin War had once referred to as the burden of experience.  With a sigh she got up and proceeded to walk towards the cargo bay where the two fighters were stored now suddenly more nervous about going to meet her 'supposed' grandmother for only the second time.

=/\= personal log, Cadet Jonas archer, Assistant Tactical Officer USS Chimera =/\=

I am just arrived at starbase 234 after a long journey on board federation transport USS Jones a small slow transport ship only capable of about warp 5.5 or so.  My entire journey from earth to start is unity took approximately 90 hours to complete.  Starbase unity was definitely a good site for sore eyes.  A place where I can finally settle down and rest myself for a little while until I joined starship USS Chimera once construction on her is completed.

I had been recently assigned quarters on board unity and am currently in the process of getting settled in my quarters.  It will be a long process and by the time I get finished the course it will be time to get on board the ship and start my mission.  I am absolutely thrilled about my new assignment on board a ship.  I hope to serve my commanding officer and my entire crew to the best of my ability because as assistant tactical officer there may be certain situations in which the safety of the crew is in my hands.

[USS Chimera] 240903.27, [SHIPYARD] Duty Log, Cdr Rick Rodgers

=Tarangor/Aeran Shipyard=
=Aeran System=

"Very nice work on incomplete sections of hull," Rick said as he sat
in the confined space of the work bee.

He had decided to perform a visual inspection of the Detector, which
was still laid up in drydock. It also gave him a chance to bone up on
his piloting, which he rarely got a chance to do.

He slowly glided the bee over the top of the larger vessel, near the
starboard side of the ship. Sitting with him was Lieutenant Karn, who
was acting as his number two on the Detector repairs and refit.

"Thank you, sir," Karn said. "We were able to complete the hull sooner
than we had originally planned."

Rick stopped the bee just off to the side of the bridge.

"When she ready?" Rick asked.

"By late morning, early afternoon tomorrow," Karn replied. "We'll have
to do some minor work throughout the ship, but she will no longer need
use of the drydock."

"Good. I want to start building Lancers within the week. Sooner
Detector finished, sooner we can finish work on shipyard. I also want to
begin test of Detector defensive systems in couple days."

"There shouldn't be a problem with that," Karn responded.

There was a moment of silence as Rick got the bee underway again,
this time heading to the underbelly of the Detector.

"Sir, I was thinking ..." Karn said.

"About what?"

"Well, I was thinking that we need to have some sort of ceremony when
the Detector leaves drydock tomorrow. She was built at this starbase
decades ago, and we're finishing work on her now. I just think that ..."

"You want to have a christening of some sort?" Rick asked.

"Yeah. I mean, it would seem appropriate somehow. It's the first
ship we have completed and it might be good for moral with the war
and everything."

"Well, I not know if commodore, XO or even Commander Ohmsford have
time for such ceremony, but I could ask," Rick said, as he looked down
at the underside of the Detector as he continued to pilot the bee. "If not,
we could just have our own little ceremony."

Bren Ohmsford <ohmsford83@gmail.com> wrote to chimera@ucip.org:

= USS Chimera - XO's Ready Room =

"Excuse me...is the XO around?" Rangi asked. The Yoeman looked up in
surprise, startled by the sudden voice for she had not heard Rangi
enter the room through the already open door. "Yes!" the Yoeman
replied, springing to her feet." I mean...yes ma'am, she is." Rangi
smiled, patiently waiting for the next move. " Well...may i se her?"
she prompted. " Ofcourse...immediatley" the Yoeman answered.

Natalia looked up from reading an Operations report as the door opened
and her new yeoman entered, followed by Commander Summers.
"Commander," she greeted Rangi, surprised. "Please, come in. To what
do I owe the pleasure?" She nodded to the yeoman who then left with
the door closing behind her.

"Good morning." Rangi said."I received some news today that will
interest you. Its from the Cranfield Centre." She saw Natalias
welcoming expression freeze for a moment before a slight blush tinged
her cheeks for a secong or so. "Its concerns Lieutenant Laqkost."
Rangi continued and without being asked, moved to the vacant chair
near natalias desk and sat down, taking her time so that the XO might
regain her composure.

Natalia felt her stomach tighten slightly and sat down again as Rangi
took the chair. Lakqost had been in the back of her mind for a while
now, and she found herself occasionally thinking about him, but then
forced herself to think of other things. When it came to Fr'r'n
Lakqost, she was not the cool calm stategist that made her a part of
the youngest command team in Starfleet.

In fact, she felt like she turned to jelly everytime someone mentioned
his name and was both comforted and unsettled by the fact that her
Halanan heritage played a role in her personal attachment to him.

"Has their been any improvement in his condition?" she asked, looking
up at Rangi and trying to keep her gaze steady.

Rangi replied." Actually I've had two reports. The first came in last
tuesday evening and it was mildly encouraging. I didnt say anything to
you at the time...even though I promised to keep you imformed. That's
because I was hoping for a follow up." She smiled. "That arrived this
morning. He is in recovery..he isnt fully awake yet but all the signs
are extrememly encouraging."

Natalia couldn't help but smile to herself at the news. "That is good
news," she repeated. "I must admit for a while I didn't think he'd
wake up again at all. Do they know yet how bad the damage is?"

"No, not yet." Rangi replied, sorry to temper Natalias obvious
enthusiasm. " You must remember that this is a very early
stage.Sometimes it can take days or weeks...or even months for
patients to regain full conciousness. Even then, their recovery can be
very slow. he will probably need a great deal of therapy. " She looked
at the Natalia, seeing "Its not unknown for patients to have amnesia,
at least in the short term." she added.

"That makes sense," Natalia nodded somberly as she listened to the
news. She couldn't help but feel a sudden pang of guilt at the memory
that he was in his current state because he saved her life. "I assume
he'll be staying at Cranfield for a while still? Or will he be
transferred to another facility?"

"For the time being he will remain where he is." Rangi replied. " The
facilities there are geared for his needs. Later no doubt, he will be
relocated to a rehabilitation unit.By that stage family....and
friends...can be a big help in a patients recovery.." She watched this
information sink in and gave a small smile when natalia looked at her
again.

"He has no family," Natalia replied after a moment. "I'm not sure how
many friends he had either." For a moment, she almost wanted to ask
Rangi if she could petition for guardianship, but the idea was
ridiculous. She was on a starship who, more often than not, was on
silent communication with the rest of the Federation. It would probaby
do more harm than good.

" Mmmmmm." was all the responce that Rangi made before she added more
to herself than to natalia: " That's a shame." Her left hand fingers
tapped absently against her knee as she lapsed into thought. " I
wonder.." she said as though addressing the desk edge, then raising
her eyes to natalia and speaking more loudly she said: " I wonder if
we could put your name as a close friend then. I know it's a bit
presumptious of me to suggest it but it really might help him when he
gets to that point....knowing there is someone concerned i mean."

"I would appreciate that very much," Natalia said eagerly. "I'd like
to help in any way I can."

"Excellent." Rangi said, pleased that Natalia was so keen. " I'll
inform Cranfield and..."

Natalia looked up as the door opened and the yeoman appeared again,
this time followed by two armed marines. "Apologies for the
interruption Commanders, but Commander Summers, could you please come
with us? We have a situation that requires your immediate attention,"
the first marine said in a gruff tone.

"Ofcourse." Rangi got to her feet, frowning, wondering what the
situation was. " Thankyou Commander." she said glancing to Natalia. "
I'll keep in touch."

"Thank you, Commander," Natalia said as Rangi left.

[Conference Room - Deck 1 - SB 234: UNITY]
Chisulo stood before his gathered superiors feeling like a criminal before a sentencing committee. The mission had turned sour, and Chisulo wasn't looking forward to the consequences. He was not however going to back down from the responsibilities of his actions. He gave his report in his traditional stoic and somewhat vulcan-like rapport.

"The subject has been transferred to a highly secured stasis facility in the back of sickbay with access granted only to Commander Summers and Major Kinn." Chisulo reported. "The subject possess high levels of telepathic and telekinetic abilities. It is able to kill and incapacitate with these abilities, such was the fate of Lieutenant Commander Faulkner." Chisulo took a deep breath before continuing. The wound of Faulkner's demise was still fresh, but he would not show this to the Commodore or the Admiral. "Jurisdiction has been transferred to Major Kinn and Taskforce Intelligence. She will be providing you with any intelligence gathered from the subsequent interrogations."
Vlimar looked at Chisulo during all this time. Vlimar nodded as Chisulo finished his sentence, then looked at LeGrand and Guzman. "If you allow me...", he said.
Shane nodded in agreement.
Vlimar looked at Chisulo. "Interrogations?", he asked. An individual with such telepathic abilities wouldn't be answering well to interrogations, knowing exactly what to respond or to evade to respond...", he stated. "And what happened to the base?", he added. "I understand, Captain, that corrective measures have been implied, but we still need to understand what happened, before deciding how to correct it...", Vlimar finally added.
"Ambassador Ayanami ordered in an Erassian strike force who laid waste to the Klingon ore processing center and starbase. The most interesting caveat of information here was the use of a weapon similar to that of the 'sharkapult' discovered in use by the Honohran travelers encountered by the Chimera at the DMZ between the Federation and the Cardassian territories." Chisulo reported. "It was a high capacity energy cannon that tore through the station's hull with searing heat analogous to the core of the sol system's celestial center. It was a short-lived blast, but its damage was quite significant from the readings I was able to pick-up before our timely departure."
Vlimar, without asking for "permission" this time, asked: "Do we have any idea of what was the goal of this research?"
Chisulo nodded. "Yes. On the padds I have provided you, you will see detailed plans the romulans were developing for a warp capable long-range warhead delivery system similar to the THUDs in use by the Erassian Alliance Military. This would explain why they were mining the low-grade duranium ore, which would have been sufficient for missile construction, but not for starship construction." He said. "The range capacity impled in their design would make them ideal for attacks on the Erass system and its neighboring systems."
Vlimar nodded, then looked at LeGrand and Guzman. He felt that he said enough, especially with the Admiral present. It was LeGrand who asked: "Do you found any evidence of working models of the warhead?"

"On our initial insertion we found only the materials and plans for their construction, not the completed weapon." Chisulo responded. "We beamed into a cargo hold filled with duranium on it's way to the processing facility, and our tricorders picked up the assembled tubes for construction on higher decks."
This time Shane was the one to make a question: "What about the Klingons, Captain? How deep do you think their willingness to cooperate with the Romulans goes? Will they continue to work together with the Romulans?"
"From what Commander Kortag'h tells me, the Council was split. Some despised the General at Narendra for cooperating with the Romulans, but others supported him." Chisulo replied. "I fear now that the destruction of the station will exacerbate the political split amongst the high council."
"Well" Shane said, "I am still missing their reaction on the destruction of their center and star base. I hope you are aware that your actions could be taken as reason to cancel the alliance with the Federation. I wonder if there was no alternative …"
LeGrand shuffled in his seat uncomfortably. "When will you Special Forces types ever learn?" He muttered.
"I'm sorry, sir?" Chisulo asked, still standing erect with  his hands tight behind his back.
"Your... 'cowboy diplomacy', Captain, has probably ruined the Federation's chances of gaining the support of the one ally that could help turn this war in our favor." LeGrand responded. His eyes pierced like daggers. "You destroyed an ally's base, killed its commanding officer, and ravaged the economy of an entire system. The Narendra system depended on that ore processing facility to remain afloat. You just damned that entire colony to poverty for the next five to ten years!"
Chisulo said nothing, but kept his gaze locked on the experienced commander.
"I find your judgement in the situation to be incredibly lacking and if it were my call, Mr. Chisulo, I would have you demoted to Lieutenant and used as cannon fodder. Is that clear?" LeGrand spat out spitefully. LeGrand looked over to Guzman, "When will you people learn that the best solution to a problem doesn't always involve blowing something up? That should be the last option."
Shane said nothing and let Chisulo to defend himself. He looked at PontBrillant like asking him to add to the conversation.

"I assure you, sir." Chisulo began. "At the time, it appeared to be the only option available to me. With the arrival of the Erassian fleet the destruction of the base was already out of my hands. I made the best of a loosing situation and took the chance of getting as much data to
support our cause as I could."
"I cannot stop a flotilla of new generation Erassian warships with a danube class runabout, or a Klingon captain's skiff." Chisulo said.
Shane took a deep breath and said finally: "I agree with the Admiral, that the destruction of the Klingon base was a mistake. Until that point you performed very well, Captain" he pierced LaGrand with his stare and went on: "The intelligence you gathered is of great value. Both about Narendra and the powerful alien as well as the inner struggles within Klingon High council. I hope everyone here agrees that we cannot await any help from the Klingons as long as their High council is divided about the Romulans. For this part" Shane looked back at Chisulo, "I commend you."
"Thank you, sir." Chisulo bowed his head slightly.

Shane shook his head slightly and said: "Another story is the destruction of the Klingon base. Would you, Captain, be responsible for the destruction, I would do as Admiral LeGrand suggested… but you cannot be made  to answer for the actions of our Erassian friends. If anyone here present does not agree with me, we can always start a proper JAG trial in this case."

"I understand sir, and will be fully cooperative with any investigation into the matter." Chisulo replied.

"Regarding the Erassians and their actions, I need to speak with Ambassador Aynami before this all goes beyond repair. All of you, especially you, Admiral, are invited for a meeting as soon as I am done with the Ambassador."
The meeting was suddenly interupted by Lieutenant Pakossi as he popped his hea dinto the room through the door. "Excuse me, sirs, but there is urgent news on the war front. The Vulcan Colony at V'Tar III has come under attack by a Romulan warship armed with a thalaron weapon. The system has fallen."

The gathered officers looked at each other with horror on there faces for a mere moment before they all rushed out of the room into the Commander Center beyond the doors.

[USS Chimera] SD 240903.26 || JL || Capt Rojac (CO) & Lt Dior (Helm) ||

[Bluenote - Section Three - Promenade Deck - SB 234: UNITY]
The couple sat at the far end of the bar, away from the door in the dim lighting of the nightclub. There was a duo of musicians on stage, playing efrosian vocal compositions with the accompaniment of earthen jazz. The result was a thick, resonate timbre with a steady beat and a melancholic melody. Rojac quite liked the arrangement, and the company.

At first, the Captain was wary of cultivating a relationship with one of his officers, but Lieutenant Dior was doing ahell of a job convincing him otherwise. She was straightforward, competitive, humorous, out-going, and very attractive.  She smiled a lot, and Cropa liked that. When she did one could see the slight pronouncement of her bajoran nasal bridge as she shriveled up her nose, and her deep black bajoran eyes seemed to glimmer with an intriguing quality that Rojac often lost himself in contemplating.

Dior, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy her company as well. Sure, Rojac wasn't as outgoing and aggressive as she was, but he wasn't lacking in confidence. He had an impressive, confident demeanor about him that she found to be quite attractive. He put off an aura of fearlessness that demanded the respect of those around him. He had to do this, she knew. Rojac had to be stern and fearless in the few of others. He was the youngest person in starfleet to have the rank of Captain, and he was commanding the Flagship vessel of the First Taskforce. He had to prove himself capable of his duties constantly to his peers, many of whom would die to fill his position. All that said, he kept to himself a lot. He was tall, dark, and mysterious: a complete cliche she knew, but she was intrigued all the same.

"So, Rayna." He said, sipping on his martini from the barman, Mr. Holden. "Tell me about yourself. I know from your bio that you served on the Franklin and the Magellan."

She put down her red wine, which matched nicely with hue of her scarlet cocktail dress that she chose to help keep the Captain at ease (it was the same color as the accent of her duty uniform). "Well, I grew up on SB 375 where my dad ran a freighter transport company. We spent a lot of time in space running shipments to and from colony to colony. " She took another sip. "Dad put me at the helm a lot. I must ahve done the run from Betazed to Bajor half a million times... at least." She laughed, Cropa did too. "It was a pain in the ass, but it helped me a lot when I got into the academy. I was the top Flight Control student in my class after all that experience."

"It sounds like your father knew what he was doing." Rojac said.

"I guess so." She replied, running her finger atop the rim of her wine glass. The crystal hummed quietly. "What about your father?"

Cropa took a deep breath. "He wasn't as wise as yours appears to be, nor as kind."

"Really?" She looked up, surprised. "It looks like you turned out alright."

"Not because of him." Rojac said. He was willing leave it at that, but the look she gave him appeared to ask for a better explanation. "My father was arrested for the assassination of several Federation Ambassadors. He ran a Bounty Hunting and Security form that participated in several illicit activities that eventually aught up with him. He was barely ever around."

"So who watched you? Your mother?" She asked.

"No." Rojac replied. "She died when I was eleven. My older sister, whom you saw in the picture earlier, was my primary caregiver."

She had stopped playing with the rim of her glass during his story. "Well, I'm glad you were able to overcome your obstacles. I think you've made quite a name for yourself - being the youngest Captain in Starfleet and all."

"It's a struggle everyday." He replied before taking another swig.

"You handle yourself well."

They shared a moment of silence, watching each other before Rojac spoke up.

"Your eyes, they're so... mesmerizing." He said.

"Thank you?" She laughed with a chuckle.

"Betazoid eyes are so beautiful." He said. "Are you telepathic, Rayna?" He asked.

"No, luckily for you." They both laughed. "I was with my father when I was younger, but that was more of an effort on his part. My levels of empathic abilities are pretty low in betazed's standards, but I have trained myself in the ability to read one's motor cortex."

"Motor cortex?" Rojac called out, slapping the top of the bar. "So that's how you did it!"

Rayna only smirked.

"That's how you were able to read my every move in our sparring match! You were reading my brain's motor cortex activity, knowing my moves the instant before I made them." Rojac said, as realization had finally set in.

"Looks like you know my secret now." She replied before finishing off her glass of wine. "And all this time you thought you really had gotten rusty."

"Well, I'm that too." Rojac said, twirling his empty glass within his palm. "The duties of command offer little time for recreation during war time. I'm glad you got me to come out here with---"

+Chimera to Captain Rojac.+ The voice of the Chimera's Communications Officer, LtJG Kresh Montesque, interrupted Rojac's sentence.

"Never mind." He whispered to Rayna before tapping his badge. "Roajc here. What is it, Kresh?"

+Sir, there is a priority one message awaiting you from both Special Forces and First Taskforce Command.+

Rojac sighed. Priority One messages were of top importance and were to be read immediately. There classified nature would only allow him to view them in his quarters, or on his ship. He looked over to Rayna and mouthed out the words, "I'm sorry."

"I'll be right there, Lieutenant." Rojac called over the line. "Rojac out." He turned to Rayna, "It looks like our R&R is coming to an end.  Thank you for the company, Lieutenant. I will see you on the bridge."

"And off the bridge, sir." She smiled, picking up her glass by the stem and toasting it in his direction. "Get going."

Rojac enjoyed the view from a moment longer before nodding a departing gesture. "Lieutenant." He turned to head toward the nearest transporter room.

[USS Chimera] SD 240903.26 | V'Tar System | Romulan Invasion Log

= Kas Povaan (V'Tar II), Vulcan Colony =

Two figures sat in front of a square stone table on a balcony overlooking the Vo'Kar valley below on the planet of Kas Povaan. A game of kal-toh was underway between them, and each of them took their turns patiently and slowly, carefully deciding what move to make next. The binary suns of the V'Tar System were setting on the horizon of the desert valley floor, casting hues of brilliant red and orange and long shadows of jagged rocks and peaks across the plains. The city of Vo'Kar was built on the edge off the cliffs the provided a spectacular view of the valley.

Kas Povaan was a new world by Vulcan standards, but by Federation standards it was not so new anymore, having been colonised almost 400 years ago, before the Federation was even a thought in the collective minds of the races that founded it. A desert world, which resembled the climate of Vulcan very closely, it did not attract many people who were unaccustomed to its harsh conditions. The population of 48 million consisted mostly of Vulcan citizens with the rest made up of Xenexian and similar arid-world species, with the capital city of Vo'Kar housing 12 million of the population. The Federation planet had almost fallen to Romulan invasion forces during the Earth-Romulan war, but was sucessfully repelled by the Vulcan government after only a few days of occupation.

"Your move," said the Vulcan man and looked at the elderly woman seated across him.

She nodded her head slowly and studied the chaotic kal-toh sphere. Her son was nearly 120 years old and he had yet to beat her at a game of kal-toh. At the ripe old age of 220, Sakkal was beginning to lose control over her emotions and at times suffered from episodes of dementia. She was aware that she had not much time left, perhaps a year or two at most, but she had lived a satisfied and full life. Her legacy would remain with her 12 children, 27 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Taking a single, thin rod from the sphere, she placed it two sectors above it's current location and a moment later the sphere transformed into a more harmonius formation.

"Well done, mother," Pavik said. Even now still, she remained unbeaten at kal-toh, a true achievement.

The quiet moment between mother and son were suddenly broken by low rumbling sound that hovered over the golden city of Vo'Kar. Alarmed, Pavik quickl stood up and walked towards the edge of the balcony. He glanced upwards to the sky and saw the air shimmer as a massive ship decloaked over the city. It's design was clearly Romulan, but it was unlikely any Romulan ship Pavik had seen or heard of before. Almost spiderlike in its design, the ship however menacingly over the city for a few moments until a bright beam of light shot from orbital defense platforms struck the shields of the vessel, causing the electormagnetised air around it to create a half-sphere of sickly green light.

Then suddenly a blindly luminescent pulse of light shot forth from the belly of the large beast, striking into the heart of Vo'Kar. The cascading shockwave of thalaron radiation that swept through the capital city of Kas Povaan destroyed everything in its path within a matter of seconds. Pavik had barely a second to turn away from the balcony when the shockwave hit, causing instant cellular necrosis in every living thing and toppling the tall structure into the deep valley below.

"shane.guzman@mojwap.sk" <shane.guzman@mojwap.sk> wrote to chimera@ucip.org:

***SB Unity***

Tommy walked into the outer office of security and motioned
to Johnson to go with him. Before Johnson could speak Tommy
said," I just got back from the captain. We have an
appointment with the commodore, who will fill us in on what
we need to know about the fire. Also, we have exactly 48
hours to solve this, so pay attention." Johnson just shook
his head as they walked.

***Commodore's reception room***

When they arrived they went to the desk and Tommy said," We
have an appointment with the Commodore. Lieutenant Junior
Grade Tom Jardan and Master Chief Heath Johnson." Tommy
stood at attention and awaited a response.

Pakosii nodded and replied: "I am Lieutenant Pakosii, Aide
of Commodore Guzman. The Commodore is expecting you, but he
has a conversation with Admiral LaGrand at the moment.
Please proceed to the retinal scan and then please take a
seat. I'll inform you when the Commodore is free to see
you".

" Retinal scan? May I ask why we need to do this test?"
Actually, Tommy did not mind the test and in fact was rather
impressed With whoever ordered the tests, but wanted to see
the lieutenant's reaction.

Pakosii sighed: "Yes, Lieutenant. All visitors to the
Commodore need to pass the retinal scan. The Commodore is a
Special Forces flag officer and in charge of this sector …
therefore a fine target for the enemy. Without passing the
test, you cannot see the Commodore".

" I see. I was just wondering." Tommy and Johnson moved to
the machine and did the scans. The computer passed them both
and they sat down to wait.

======= Shane's office =====

When the door hissed open, Shane looked at the two officers
(well .. one officer and one NCO) entering the room. HE did
not know them, but Pakosii informed him about their identity
and the purpose of their visit.

Smiling he said: "Welcome Lieutenant, Chief … I am
always happy to see guys from my ex-ship. Please take a seat
and tell me what I can do for you"

Tommy smiled in return," Nice to see you again, sir. May I
ask, have you seen any more future selves lately?" Tommy
said this in a tone meant to be taken as a joke." Actually,
We have been asked by Captain Rojac to investigate the
explosion on the shuttle deck."

Shane laughed. He never explained there whereabouts of his
encounter with future himself so all remained a mystery and
source of jokes and gossip. "No, lately none and I wonder
if you scared them" he replied in a joke. "But back to
business .. how can I help you in this matter, gentleman?"

Johnson, who had been silent up until now spoke."
Specifically, we were hoping you would give us a rundown on
what happened. We also need all data and a list of possible
suspects.. We would also like to speak with station
security."

Shane nodded: "I think your man to speak with Colonel
PontBrillant. He was the one directly involved in the
accident. HE's just been released from the infirmary, so I
guess you want to ask him directly. For the moment, I know
very little myself. Its no great secret that the security on
the UNITY went quite disorganized after Captain Joeleco's
departure. This is a matter that requires attention, but
there are other areas of higher priority."

"But security should have been set up to function even with
the loss of a chief. Isn't there a secondary chief?" Johnson
was very curious, as when jardan got hurt, security on the
Chimera did not diminish, " I mean, what's going on?"

"My dear Chief" Shane said: "security priority is to
ensure safety for ships docked on the station as well as
Task Force Command center. We are in war and from here the
whole defense of this sector is coordinated. Security on
civilian decks as well as low importance Starfleet decks is
not my priority at the moment. I am glad you want to lend a
hand in this investigation and I am happy to give you any
support you need, but there are two things I cannot give you
… personnel and access to task force level areas. Aside
these two things ask what you need and you shall get it.
Lieutenant Pakosii will be in touch with you …"

Tommy nodded. " I see. Well this shouldn't make it that much
harder. I am curious about no access to the task force
areas. What if the saboteur is a member of the personnel of
that area?"

Shane shrugged slightly: "As much as you dislike hearing
this like security personnel ... you do not posses the
proper SSF clearance to access those areas. Bring me any
evidence about Task Force personnel involvement and I will
grant you the clearance. But until then …" Shane's
voice trailed off.

Tommy said, " I guess our next step will be to get in touch
with Colonel PontBrillant. Thank you for seeing us. I will
await the data from the Lieutenant." Tommy and Johnson both
stood up and waited to be dismissed.

"You are welcome. Please thank Captain Rojac for sending
you … and that we have to speak about granting Task Force
clearances. You're dismissed!"

[USS Chimera] 240903.26, Personal Log, Cdr Rick Rodgers

=Secondary Classroom=
=Starbase Unity=

Rick stared at the beautiful Katarian woman for a moment. He was
surprised to see her again, especially here and now, all things
considering.

"Rachel and Davi will remain here until the other children return
from recess," Mrs. Collinsworth explained. "I'm sure you need to
return to work, commander."

"Yes, I do," Rick said as he and Rachel followed the two women out
of the teacher's office. Collinsworth went off to attend to other duties.

Rachel returned to her previous seat in a chair on one side of the
classroom.

"I remember you," Rick said to the Katarian. "Denaria is it?"

She nodded with a smile.

"Have any more blackouts lately," she responded.

Rick shook his head.

"Good," she said.

"I want to apologize for Rachel hitting your son."

"No need," she responded. "Davi has been a handful since his
father left us a little over a year ago. He says and does things he
knows he shouldn't say or do. It's been difficult for him, but it's no
excuse for his actions."

"Still, Rachel not violent child," Rick said. "I stunned by all this."

"Get use to it," Denaria said. "Children are unpredictable."

"Tell me about it," Rick said. "Anyhow, from our last meeting, I
surprised you have family here. I thought ..."

"... that I was involved in illegal activities," she finished.

"Something like that," Rick said. "After all, at time you said to just
forget I ever met you."

"At the time, I was involved in some ... intel work for my people,"
she explained. "Now, I'm here in an official capacity."

"Oh," Rick said. "Well, it good see you again. I got to get back to
work."

"Yeah, and I have to go back in there and have a little talk with
my son," she said, nodding to Collinsworth's office. "I'm sure
we'll run into each other again, hopefully under better
circumstances."

Rick nodded.

As Denaria entered the office, Rick walked over to Rachel and
gave her a kiss before heading off back to the shipyard.

When Rick wondered into the near empty classroom, he saw Rachel
sitting on one end, sitting on a chair with her arms wrapped around
her knees. Mrs. Collinsworth, Rachel's teacher, greeted him.

"Commander, I'm glad you could take time out of work on such short
notice," Collinsworth said.

"What happened? Is Rachel OK?"

"Rachel is fine," Collinsworth replied.

"What about the other girl?"

"Other girl?"

"Yes, other girl she got in fight with," Rick said. "She OK?"

Collinsworth shook her head, "there was no other girl. She hit him."

The teacher pointed to a young boy sitting in her office adjacent to
the classroom. Rick guess that the boy was maybe a couple of years
older than Rachel. He could also see the area around his left eye
turning dark.

"She did that?" Rick asked, pointing to the boy.

Collinsworth nodded.

"Why?"

"You'll have to ask Rachel," Collinsworth said. "Let me just say that
I'm more than surprised. Rachel is a wonderful child and model
student. This ... this was unexpected. Anyhow, his mother should
be here in a few minutes."

Rick shook his head as he walked to where Rachel was sitting.

"Hey, sweetheart," Rick said, kneeling next to the six-year old girl.

She just looked up at him, her eyes reddened where she had been
crying.

"What happened? Why you hit that boy?" Rick asked.

There was a long pause as she looked away from Rick for a moment.

"He ... he said some bad things," she replied.

"What bad things?"

"He say you stupid," she replied in almost a whisper. "He made fun
of you in front of the other kids. So, I got mad at him."

"Ray, hitting someone and getting into fights is bad thing," Rick said.
"There never good reason to get into fight. Nothing good come from
fighting."

"I'm sorry," she said. "You mad at me?"

"Sweetheart, I never be mad at you," Rick said. "I little disappointed,
but not mad. When we get home this evening, your mommy and I will
discuss punishment."

She nodded as Rick stood.

"For now, I want you apologize to that boy," Rick added.

"But daddy, he said ..."

"I not care what he said," Rick interrupted. "You hit him, so you are
going to apologize to him."

"But ..."

"Ray."

Her lips quivered.

"OK," she finally said as Rick followed her into Collinsworth's office.

"I'm sorry I hit you," she said.

The boy, whom Rick noticed was Katarian, looked more embarrassed
than hurt. Just then, Collinsworth entered.

"Davi, don't you have something to say?" the teacher asked.

The boy was quiet for a long moment before looking at the others.

"I'm sorry for saying what I said," he said.

"I'm also sorry for whatever my son said," Rick turned and saw another
woman enter the room. Rick recognized her right away as the Katarian
woman who he had met shortly after his return from Earth. She then had
apparently knocked out a large Klingon, who was about to beat the hell
out of Rick before he had blacked out.

[USS Chimera] 240903.25, [SHIPYARD] Duty Log 1, Cdr Rick Rodgers

=Tarangor/Aeran Shipyard=
=Aeran System=

"The problem is, the design of the Detector is quite different than
that of the typical Defiant-class starship. That's causing some
difficulties in our installation of the
ablative armor. It just won't
work to our specifications."

Rick listened to the lieutenant and shook his head.

"Than we just change deployment points," Rick said, then pointed
at the Detector's blueprint on the large screen. "Instead of here,
we just move it here and here. It will give us full coverage of hull."

"Aye, sir," the lieutenant said.

"Anything else?" Rick asked.

"No sir," the lieutenant said before walking away.

+tap+ "Unity to Commander Rodgers."

+tap+ "Rodgers here."

+tap+ "Commander, this is Mrs. Collinsworth."

+tap+ "Collinsworth?"

+tap+ "Yes, Rachel's teacher."

Rick began to worry right away that something had happened to
his daughter, that she was in an accident. Why else would her
teacher call him directly?

+tap+ "What wrong with Rachel?" Rick asked.

+tap+ "There was an altercation," Collinsworth explained. "She
was in a fight."

+tap+ "A fight! She hurt?"

+tap+ "No, she's OK. But I thought I'd contact you instead of
MaiKai since the reason for the fight involves you."

Rick rubbed his eyes, then his chin. He was still surprised by the
news. After all, Rachel was a good child, well liked by the other
students and he couldn't imagine her involved in a fight.

+tap+ "OK, I be there in 20 minutes," Rick finally said.

+tap+ "Thank you, commander. Unity out."

Rick shook his head and walked over to the lieutenant he had
spoken to a couple of minutes earlier.

"I head over to Unity. You charge here until I get back," Rick said.

"Aye, sir," the lieutenant replied.

[USS Chimera] SD 240903.24 || Duty Log || Captain Cropa Rojac ||

[Captain's Quarters - Deck Two - USS Chimera NCC96899-C]

Rojac had cloistered himself in his quarters amidst mounds of paperwork, padds, and reports awaiting his purview and authorization. Officially, he was on rest and relaxation. Unofficially, he was "working from home". Rojac was never keen on vacations, especially during war time. It felt almost... morally wrong for him to be taking a break when thousands of his comrades were risking their lives on the front lines.

There was a half-eaten meal on the coffee table. Stacks of padds on his desk and the wall mounted display had a gigantic diagram of the fleet movements along the First Taskforce war theatre. With Chisulo's absence, Rojac had been offering what assistance he could to help plan the war effort while he was docked at UNITY. LtCol Pont Brillant and his team appeared to have the situation under control and as such, Rojac only served as an advisory role.

Rojac was tracing his fingers along a patrol path taken by a flotilla of LeGrand's fleet along the alpha zone when the chime to his quarters sounded.

Rojac's brow took on a puzzled expression. Who could be summoning him? Was Natalia back from her stay on Aeran III? Had Jardan made progress in his investigation aboard UNITY? Was the Cadet recently assigned to Medical that eager to see him? He took up the plate off the coffee table recycled it in the replicator as he made his way to the door.

Once opened, the lithe form of the young Lieutenant Rayna Dior stood before him. "Hello, Captain." She peered over his shoulder by standing up on her tip-toes. "Aren't you supposed to be resting and relaxing?"

Rojac stepped sideways to break her line of sight. "Maybe, Lieutenant. But why do you mind what I do on my spare time?"

She smiled a mischievous grin. "Because thirty minutes ago you were scheduled to meet me aboard UNITY for the drink you owe me."

Cropa slapped his forehead. "Good lord. I'm sorry Lieutenant. I forgot. Forgive me."

Rayna laughed. "I know you forgot."

"Come in." Rojac said, stepping aside as he waved the helm officer in. "Can I get you a drink here, Lieutenant?"

"I told you to call me Rayna off duty, sir." She replied. "And yes, please. Apple juice for now, but something stiffer once we get aboard the station."

"Fine, Rayna." Rojac said as he made he way across the messy room toward the replicator.

Rayna Dior looked around at all the scattered padds and the bare walls. "Lively decor you have here."

"Yeah." Rojac responded as he stepped away from the replicator with her juice. "Well, most of my personal possessions disappeared with the rest of the Chimera-B. And I haven't had much time for shopping since."

"Hmmm." She rubbed at her chin before taking the glass from her superior officer. "I guess that would do it." Her deep black eyes twinkled as Rojac glanced into them. "Though you could be doing some shopping now, if you really were taking a break."

"Bah!" Rojac replied. "Stay here, make yourself comfortable. I'm going to go get ready." He said as he walked off int eh direction of his bedroom.

Rayna Dior sat backward into the soft cushions of Rojac's couch and picked up a picture on the bedside table. It held the image of a young dark haired woman embracing a tall klingon figure in front of a red martian landscape. She wondered at who these individuals could be and spent a few minutes compiling elaborate tales to explain their background until Cropa returned.

"What do you have there?" Rojac asked.

"I don't know, you tell me. This is your room." She smiled back.

Rojac walked up beside her and picked up the frame. "Oh. That's my sister and her husband. They live on Mars."

"That's cute." She said, standing up beside him. "Are you close?"

"No." Rojac put the picture back down and turned to face Rayna fully. "We haven't talked since I joined the academy. I really haven't talked to any of my family since then."

"Well that's a shame." Rayna replied. "I'm sure they'd be proud."

Rojac only smirked, and Rayna got the feeling he wasn't too keen on discussing the matter further. She shrugged her shoulders. "Hmph! Well, I know a good place to go. It's called the Bluenote, and they have great music to go with the drinks." She said as she starting walking to the doors.

Rojac followed close behind her. "Lead the way."

"Director." Greeted the voice of Captain Alexander Emile Mercer, the Director of SFI Standard Intelligence, as he entered the office of his superior officer, Vice Admiral Tuvok. "Thank you for seeing me at such short notice."

Mercer hobbled over to the chair across the desk from the dark-skinned vulcan with the use of his duranium cane as the Admiral stood to greet him.

"Greetings, Captain." Tuvok nodded, and took his seat. Mercer followed suit. "I here you have some more news into the Antigonis incident."

"That is correct, Admiral." Mercer replied. "We were able to trace the signal the Breen sent out before they committed suicide to a distribution point in the Briar Patch."

"Were you able to decode the transmission, Captain?"

"No sir." Mercer replied, regrettably. "The Breen are using an algorithm as of yet unencountered. It's giving the cryptology department quite a time."

Tuvok replied with a non-verbal nod, signalling Mercer to continue.

"In the Briar Patch, our teams discovered another bouy that split the transmission into three different locations throughout the quadrant." Mercer was about to continue when the Director interrupted.

"And where did these transmissions disperse?"

Mercer sighed. "Number one was tracked to a desert planet in the Vega system. Number two to an asteroid belt in the Xenex system next to Talarian Space. Both leads have turned up to be dead-ends."

"I see." Tuvok's eyebrows steepled. "And number three?"

"Into Erassian space."

Tuvok brought his hands together atop his desktop, perhaps the closest expression to frustration Mercer had ever seen the vulcan express. "And this is our fianl lead."

"Yes sir."

"Recommendations?"

"Investigation, sir. Though since we a dealing with the Erassians now I though it would be best to request Special Force's First Taskforce's involvement."

Tuvok turned around in is chair to look out the window in contemplation. "That would be a logical suggestion. Erass would be more likely to coordinate with a known entity. And the Taskforce's Chimera was the ship to originally be assigned to this mission. It is... fitting for it to be a par tof its conclusion."

This time Mercer responded with the non-verbal nod.

"Very well, Captain. I will get in touch with Admiral Janeway and General Kira." Tuvok said. "In the meantime, prepare a dossier to be presented to Commodore Guzman and his team for the operation. I want a copy on my desk tomorrow morning."

[USS Chimera] SD 240903.23 || Backlog JL || Narendra Mission Conclusion ||

[Narendra Station - Klingon Executive Shuttle Bay - Deck 2]

Chisulo, with the alien form draped over his shoulder, labored across the deck toward the boarding ramp of the shuttle. Engine noise filled the room as Kortag'h and Jackson prepped fro departure. There were bodies all over the place, phaser wounds embedded in their chests and faces. Some even had the tell-tale slash marks of a bat'leth. Tedros approached the ramp and turned back to Ambassador Ayanami.

"Are we clear, Ambassador?" Chisulo asked, as he set the alien body down just inside the threshold.

"As good as Captain Chisulo I'm not sensing anyone else nearby on the station.  I'll return to my fighter now and we can escort you out of the fire zone."  Alecto replied.

"Thank you for your help." Chisulo said as he slid Faulkner's body inside the confines of the shuttle. "I hope to see you back on UNITY, under better circumstances."

Alecto nodded and stepped back as the ramp started to close.  As soon as the ramp was fully closed she would beam back to her Bowfighter and get away from the station as soon as possible.

Chisulo smiled as the ramp closed, separating him from the hybrid assassin. He tied up the alien's hands (whom he would have to put in stasis once the immediate danger had subsided) and proceeded up to the flight deck. He saw Jackson in the co-pilot chair with Kortag'h working the helm.

"We need to work fast, Commander." Chisulo said, sitting in a seat behind them presumably for the General to preview the flight plans. "An Erassian strike force is in-bound, and I don't think they'll wait for us to peaceably evacuate."

Kortag'h frowned at the news of the strike force. He hadn't known that would be part of the plan, sending an Erassian force this far into Klingon space, but there was no time to argue about it so he kept his mouth shut. "The yacht is ready for launch."

"I'm ready when you are." Chisulo replied.

"Initiating thrusters," Kortag'h said as he moved the yacht away from the station. "Engaging engines."

The Bowfighter released it's grip on the Klingon Station and drifted serenely away before engaging it's engines and moving away to join up with the liberated Klingon Command Yacht carrying Chisulo and his team, not to mention the prisoner.   Alecto had just signalled the other Bowfighters to join up with her to escort the Klingon Command Yacht out of the combat zone when the timer hit zero.

There was a series of flashes and three large black, angular ships reverted from warp.  Two of the ships were instantly identifiable as Erassian Alliance DCW5G's (Destroyer Class Warship 5th Generation) although they were putting out a fierce jamming field on sensors the optical sensors on Alecto's Bowfighter were good enough to pick out the names EAS Tethys and EAS Crius.  The third ship was a type unknown to Alecto far larger than the DCW5G's yet without the massive bulk of a SCW5G (Starfighter Carrier Warship 5th Generation)  No this was something new and it bore the name EAS Hyperion.  All three ships immediately launched fighters.

Chisulo quickly approached the auxiliary Science station and pulled up what data he could on the new Erassian ships that had just warped in. They were highly sophisticated vessels, to be sure, with state of the art anti-detection technology and some strange (yet familiar) energy reading emanating from the fore weapons array. The tactical advisor in Chisulo had its interest peaked, but the Captain was quickly snapped back to reality as the ship rocked slightly from stray disruptor fire.

"Jackson! Give Kortag'h more engine power to work with!" He ordered the intelligence officer.

The Erassian M-35A fighters tore into the Romulan fighters whilst the destroyers attacked the two warbirds that had entered the fray since Alecto had boarded the Station.  She looked again at the huge black angular shape of the EAS Hyperion and saw the that the front two-thirds of the vessel had begun to slit apart.  Four outer blocks surrounding an inner spike.  As they reached the furthest that they could get from the central spike the outer blocks stopped and bolts of energy started arcing between the blocks and the spike slowly increasing in numbers and intensity.  Alecto merely breathed "Gods..."

Realization suddenly dawned across Chisulo's eyes as the Erassian weapon's power reading began to peek on his sensor readouts. "Sharkapult." He whispered.

The spike on the EAS Hyperion began to glow intensely white and then with a blinding flash fired on the Station instantly burning through it causing a number of secondary explosions which consumed the station at a frightening rate although far more fear inducing was the overawing white beam of the Hyperion which cut off and the four outer blocks began closing in to seal up the central spike.  {{Well I think we all know what I want for Christmas!}}  Alecto sent to Ryunosuke one of her Hybrid Pilot bodyguards.

The scene quickly disappeared into streaks of blinding white as Kortag'h sent the yacht into warp. Chisulo brought a hand to his forehead and rubbed at his temples, cursing slightly under his breath. "What have I done?" He murmured quietly.

The mission had gone incredibly sour. From what was to be a simple reconnaissance and intelligence gathering mission turned into a devastating blow to Federation/Klingon relations. Massive repercussions would no doubt send shockwaves throughout the alpha nd beta quadrants for years, and maybe decades to come.

Chisulo stood quietly and turned toward the back of Commander Kortag'h's head. "I'm sorry my friend. My actions have done you a great dishonor." And with that Chisulo retired to the rear of the ship to place the hostage into stasis.

Chimerans!

Well, I'm back so everyone get back to work. Lower than usual log count this week, but from what I've read the quality remains high (and that's the important part). This week we will move on to the next plot. Expect some background logs and make your characters way back to the ship (if you are stationed on the ship, of course...)

Now let us welcome to the crew our newest officer, Cadet Pamela Brock in the Medical Department (Melissa). Send her an e-mail at melissagomez01@hotmail.fr and welcome her aboard! Thanks for joining us, Melissa. Plus, we're working on another new applicant, so watch this space for next week!

Get logging!

=/\= MISSION SUMMARY/QUOTES OF THE WEEK =/\=
==============================================
-------------------------
- Summary (by Queen Rangi)
-------------------------
Jade worked into the early hours and wondered about using an
EEH to help.Later she met Gustav and was impressed by his
ideas. She suggested they might talk to Anya and would
arrange a time and place but Anya beat her to it and talked
to Gustav in a bar. She wanted him to help create a new
anti-ship missile.
Mimi and Gustav spent time in the holodeck and later, after
a hearty breakfast, Mimi headed to the shops for a couple of
hours before starting her appointments.
Natalia had gone to the planet to spend time relaxing but
still couldnt keep her thoughts from focussing on Romulans
and the general state of play.
Nanee arrived for lunch with Maikai and Rick and the reunion
went well.
Nym had a sparring match with three marines but was aware
that Vlimar had been watching her.She noted that he was due
for an evalution following his injuries.
On Erass Prime, Athena met Susan Ivanov and after discussing
the King, asked for her help in talking to Viktor but Susan
couldn't promise. That night Athena had a nightmare and woke
to find Susan standing in the room and giving a warning that
'they' were coming.
Rangi called Giella Kinn to her office to discuss the
unencrypted messages that Alecto had mentioned.
Jade outlined her idea of the EEH to Natalia who thought it
a sensible plan and gave Jade the go-ahead to begin the
project.

- Quotes of the Week (by Lord Ixus)
-------------------------

Remind me not to get injured!

Anya placed a bag on the bar "The pilot's made you up a recoverypackage.  There's a cap with 'The Man Who Thought He Could Fly' on it.There's also a bottle of some generic booze in it along with some pornmags donated by the guys although some may go beyond the pale."Captain Anya 'Goody Bag' Xerxes********************************************
Knowledge = Paper work

She always wondered to herself just how much Task Force Command knew about the war that she herself didn't. As the Flagship's XO she was pretty much in the loop, but her clearance didn't go up to Flag level and she wasn't privy to all information, as was the case with all XO's. Maybe it was just as well she didn't know everything; she could do her job without knowing all of it, and more knowledge could just be a further burden, something anyone could do without.

Commander Natalia 'He Ain't Heavy' Trzetrzelewska

********************************************
Awkward Moments

Nanee opened her mouth as if to say something after a moment's
of silence, but was amazed to find that MaiKai was reaching out
towards her.  They embraced in a hug that could've had Mai sobbing
on her cousin's shoulder, but she was trying to keep herself composed.

Lieutenant Commander MaiKai 'Shy' Rodgers

********************************************The Love Quadrangle Deepens

Her thoughts raced from giving aid to getting help to just getting away.  ".....I couldn't let you two be together and now ... my dear .... its your turn."   She watched in horror as he squeezed the trigger.

Commander Athena 'Paranoid' Wellington

********************************************Diplomacy At Its Finest

In my opinion,Ambassador Ayanami has more to worry about than a misguidedcomment in Starfleet communique. She has Klingon blood onher hands and her actions at Narendra may have soured futurerelations with the Empire. We aren't innocent either; themission went badly and that's why the Klingon delegation isbeing recalled from Unity.Major Giellera 'Pacifist' Kinn*********************************************

- Subject Lines
-------------------------
Please remember to use the following format for your subject lines:
SD 24YYMM.DD, Duty/Personal Log, Rank Name
e.g., SD 240502.01, CO's Log, Capt Rojac
e.g., SD 240502.01, Personal Log, Cropa Rojac
The [USS Chimera] part of the subject is placed automatically by the listserv, so you don't need to include it.
Also remember to include your details at the end of your log
e.g.,
Captain Cropa Rojac
Commanding Officer
USS Chimera NX 96899-B
-------------------------
- Logging Guidelines
-------------------------
Logging:
The weekly logging deadline is at Midnight (12:00AM/00:00) GMT/UTC (19:00 EST); all logs received after the deadline will be counted for the following week. If you are pressed for time and would like a log to count for the previous week, but it is sent after the deadline, please send an email to the command team when you send the log so that we can make the corrections.
Please remember that all MAJOR plot changes need to be cleared with the command staff before a log goes through! You can do this by sending the command staff (chimera-command@ucip.org ) a log labeled with "Draft" tagged to the subject line. We'll typically let you know if it's approved within 24 to 48 hours, or tell you what might need to be modified before it's sent to the listserv.
When using other characters in your logs, please keep in mind that person's characteristics. Character information can be found on the UCIP website or the USS Chimera website (under CREW - just click on the Star Trek symbol next to the character's name). If you're still unsure how to interact with a character, then privately mail the person
involved, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help.
Conversely, if you feel that your character is being portrayed incorrectly by someone please contact them to try to work out an agreeable solution. Just keep in mind when logging to treat other characters the way you'd like them to treat you - with the respect due to any member of Starfleet who is a specialist in their field.
If you think your log may be going out of bounds, then please ask! If you are having problems finding things to write about or would just like some help with your log, please contact your department head or the command team. Remember, you don't always have to log about things relating to the main plot - logs that develop your character's
personality are encouraged! We're eager to help if you're having trouble; just email the command team (chimera-command@ucip.org).

-------------------------
Any officer who is Absent Without Leave (0) for two or more consecutive

- Removals/Resignations
-------------------------
The following crew have either resigned or have been dropped due to lack of activity. If they would like a position on the USS Chimera, they will need to reapply.
