[USS Chimera] SD 240901.24 SB Unity. Duty Log: Cmdr Ohmsford / Stephen Jacobs

Bren arrived at Stephens' office in time for his
appointment. Although he was a bit pressed for time
preparing for the upcoming mission, he figured it was
probably best to get it over and done with.

"Good afternoon, I have an appointment with Dr Jacobs," Bren
said as he approached the reception desk.

"Certainly Sir," the young woman who had greeted him
replied. " The Doctor is waiting for you."
She pressed a button and announced Brens arrival and a voice
answered that he be sent in.

Stephen was seated at his desk busy with some work but
raised his head as the door opened and stood from his seat
as the newcomer entered.

"Stephen Jacobs." he said holding out his hand to shake.
"Please, take a seat. The chair or the seating area,
whichever you like."

"Bren Ohmsford, good to meet you Dr Jacobs," Bren replied,
shaking the offered hand. He opted for the chair in front of
the doctor's desk and sat down. It was comfortable enough,
but Bren did feel a little ill at ease in the chief
counselor's office, which was strange since he once served
as a counselor himself.

"I'm sure you know the reason for this meeting." Stephen
said in friendly tone."..so why not just tell me five things
about yourself and three about your work?"
His expression seemed to say that his request was simple and
straightforward. " Would you like a drink?" he added.

"No thank you, I'm fine," Bren said as he thought about

Jacobs' question. Five things about himself and three about
his work.

Shifting a little in his chair, he said, "All right, five
things about myself.
I've been happily married for almost
five years and I feel I'm lucky that I can have my partner
on the same base as myself.
I have seven siblings, we are
eight children and I'm the youngest of triplets. Three of my
siblings are also in Starfleet. I wish I had time to see my
family more, but most of them are scattered over the Alpha
Quadrant, so it's a little difficult to get them all
together.
I love food and enjoy cooking... a little too much
maybe," he joked, patting his belly.
"I also enjoy playing
music but I haven't done that in a long time.

"As for my work... I really enjoy it. I served in R&D for
quite some time and it was challenging and rewarding. With
the war I was reassigned here and it's exciting in a way to
be on the front lines again; takes me back to when I first
joined Starfleet," Bren smiled.
"Before R&D I briefly served
as the Chimera-B's CO during a rather interesting
mission..." he trailed off as he remembered the
transdimensional device and their meeting with their doubles
in a parallel universe.
The device was still kept safely
under lock and key in the R&D Artifacts Vault and intrigued
all of the scientists who'd come into contact with it.

" How do you see your life develping now you're here?"
Stephen wanted to know.

"I suppose it depends on how the war goes," Bren replied.
"Commodore Guzman has tasked me with setting up a shipyard
to serve the starbase, and as long as 1TF stays on the base,
I'm sure it will keep me busy.
I think Unity will become
quite busy within the next few years. It's essentially, in
my opinion, something that has been needed in this region
for a long time in order to facilitate communication with
the Romulan and Klingon Empires, as well as with the
Erassian government and several other nearby governments.

"Sorry, I'm digressing a bit," he apologised. "But I see
myself staying on Unity for quite a while - barring any
unforseen events - because I feel I can be more of use here
than behind a desk in an office building somewhere on
Earth."

Stephen listened to the flow of explanation, ideas and
hopes, gaining an impression of the man sitting opposite to
him. He took in the expression and the tone which
accompanied the words and began to build an image of Brens
character.

"How am I doing so far? Don't think I'm insane yet?" Bren
smiled.

Stephen laughed aloud and he shook his head. " No, I don't
think you're anywhere near that." he said and chuckled as
though Bren had somehow said something extremely funny.
Eventually he spoke, though his eyes still smiled at the
humour.

" Anything you want to discuss?" he asked.

Bren thought for a moment about the question. There was
perhaps a lot he could discuss: the situation of the war,
how it affected Federation citizens and Erassians and
possibly impacted on many other political powers and
governments within the region, all whom had little say in
what was happening. But, this session was about him
personally, so he declined the offer.

"No," he replied with a smile, "Nothing specific at this
stage."

Stephen stood up and reaching across the desk, offered his
hand for Bren to shake. His grip was firm as he said: " It's
been a pleasure meeting you."

Surprised, Bren stood up and shook Stephens' hand. "That's
all? It was rather quick," he smiled.

Stephen returend the smile. " I learned all I need to know
for the time being." he said in a pleasant tone."...but if
you wish to lodge a complaint...."
The smile turned to grin.

"Not complaining at all," Bren laughed. "It was a pleasure
meeting you, Doctor. Have a good day."

"You too Commander." Stephen replied, sitting back on his
seat as Bren headed for the door.

OOC:  I went ahead and sent Mai, hope you don't mind. :)

= SB Unity - Infirmary - Pediatrics =

T'Vel's last stop for the day was Pediatrics. It was one of the smaller units of the Infirmary, but it was doing well in the hands of MaiKai Rodgers. Being a mother undoubtedly gave the Lieutenant Commander an affinity with children that was needed when working with them. Although not too many children were on Unity, there was a sizeable population on the planet that made use of the advanced medical facilities of the Starbase.

Stepping inside the wing, T'Vel headed towards MaiKai's office at the end of the ward but found her instead next to a biobed talking with a child.

"Commander Rodgers," T'Vel greeted her with slight nod of her head. "I trust you are well today?"

"Alright, Johnny. That'll be all for the day. You may go back to your mother," Mai gave the young boy a few pats on his back and let him jump down from the biobed.

"I am thank you," Mai replied almost automatic.  There really wasn't much thought to that reply.  "May I be of some assistance?"

"I have come to see how your department is faring," T'Vel replied. "I do my rounds at the end of each shift in order to visit every department at least once per week. Today I have come to you. How are the children doing? Any difficult patients?"

Mai smiled wryly, "The children are doing quite well. Nothing I can't handle really".

"Human children are not often the easiest patients to deal with, I have found," T'Vel replied dryly.

MaiKai laughed.  Having one of her own and having one of her patients already try and kick her she knew all too well. "That may be".

"Vulcan children are similarly difficult when they are at a very young age, before they learn the discipline of logic," T'Vel said in reply, then turned her attention back to the department. "Are you satisfied with the facilities, Commander?"

"Yes, I don't seen any reason to complain,"  Mai replied true to form.  She found the facilities rather accessible.

"And the size of your ward? Do you feel you need more staff or more room to treat patients?"

"The size suits fine.  I haven't run into anything problematic where I would need more staff or room to treat patients," Mai suddenly felt like she was being grilled for answers and ran her head across her forehead.

Satisfied, T'Vel nodded. There weren't many patients currently in MaiKai's department and things were going smoothly. "That will be all then, Dr Rodgers," T'Vel said. "I will leave you to your duties. Please let me know if there is anything that you require."

Rangi had stood patiently as security carried out a 'sweep'
of the room. It was to no-ones surprise that nothing was
found and five minutes later the prisoner arrived in the
company of four guards, handcuffed to two and flanked by the
others.

{Where do they 'get' these people?} Rangi asked herself as
the group marched into the room, for there was not one of
them under 194 cms and all looked as though they ate steel
bars for breakfast.
They came to a halt in front of her.

"Mr. Terrh.." she said addressing the man in the centre of
the group "..It should have been explained to you that
you're here so that I can run two medical tests. Do you
understand and agree?"

" No I don't." he said flatly.

Rangi eyed him.
"No you don't what?" she asked "...agree or understand?"

" I don't understand why you want to do them. There's
nothing wrong with me and no, I don't agree to being the
subject of your 'tests'."
He planted his feet firmly on the floor and looked her
straight in the eye.

" The tests are simple and pain free." she said calmly. "
The first is a blood test. I will take a few CCs of your
blood, that's all. The second is a scan. All you need to do
is lie on the biobed..." she pointed in its direction
"...and leave the rest to me."

" I refuse to take part in your testing." Terrh exclaimed. "
You can't force me to do it and I won't."
He glared at Rangi and would have pulled one of his arms
free but for the guard anchoured on the other end of the
cuff.

"There is no need to make a fuss." Rangi stated in a firmer
tone. " Please...move to the biobed."

The guards began to hussle their prisoner towards the bed,
fairly lifting him off the floor for his feet barely touched
it as they half carried and half dragged him along.
He did his best to resist but his efforts were useless and
the guards pushed him to a sitting position on the edge of
the biobed.

Rangi had followed a few steps behind and now stood a short
distance away from her patient.

"You dont have the right to do this to me!" he declared.

"On the contrary, I do." she said. " Do you want me to quote
from the Federation Statute of Sentient Rights...because
you'd be surprised just how many that gives me. Section
eighteen for example, states that if the Captain of a
Starfleet vessel has cause or reason to believe that a
prisoner under his care is or could be an active threat to
Federation security, then he can take any steps deemed
necessary to negate the threat." she informed him. "...and
that includes blood tests and scans." she added.

Terrh was not prepared to admit defeat so said loudly. " You
, as CMO, can override the captains orders."

" Well yes that's true, I can " Rangi agreed "...except
that I happen to agree with him. You're a prisoner on an SSF
ship in Federation space and there's a war going on. Lie
back please."

It was obvious the prisoner was not going to literally take
this lieing down so Rangi stepped to the medtrolly standing
ready and lifted a hypospray from its place as the guards
restrained him.

"What's that? What are you giving me? Keep away from me.!"
Terrh struggled against his guards.

" This is melorazine." Rangi said. " A standard sedative."

" I refuse to have it..no..no.....I protest..I
pro..tes...sssstt."
The hypospray had been pressed against his neck and his
struggles grew feeble then stopped altogether.

"That's better." Rangi said and the nearest guard smothered
a smirk. He liked this ladys attitude.

" Do you mind?" she said, looking up at him and indicating
that he might move back. " He isnt likely to be going
anywherenow is he?"
The guard grinned and took a couple of steps to the side, so
allowing Rangi to pull the trolley nearer.

" I hope noone is going to faint at the sight of blood." she
said lifting the empty phial.

**
It didn't take long to run the tests themselves. The blood
was taken and the brain scan was performed without any
difficulties and Terrh recovered as expected from the
sedative but remained silent when the guards got him to his
feet.
He looked briefly at Rangi as he was ushered past on his
way back to the Brig and she watched them all leave before
turning back to her work.
An hour passed before she was ready to pass on the results
with a call to the Bridge.

**
"Rojac." came the curt responce.

" Captain, I have the preliminary results from the tests you
requested." she said.

" Good." he replied sounding more approachable and waited
for her to continue.

"The Detronal scan confirms Romulan DNA." she said " But the
brain scan disclosed something of interest."
Rojac made no reply so Rangi could only imagine that he
waited for her explanation.

" I used the standard Brain Circuitry Diagnostic to map
neural activity...it will show trauma or damage.. and there
was something immediatley apparant.There's residual
activity in the paleocortex."

She paused but into the silence said :
" Sir...that indicates a Mind Meld. The prisoner was not
co-operative but obviously without a further scans I'm
unable to say when exactly this was done or even if it was
carried out willingly or under duress. I'll forward the full
results to you within the hour Sir."

Again there was a short silence before Rojac replied: "
Thankyou Commander." and the communication was terminated.

Rangi returned to the test results, pressing a finger
against her chin thoughtfully as she read through them
before beginning on her report, which, as promised, was sent
to Rojac within the hour.

[USS Chimera] SD: 240901.22 Joint Log, Lt JG Gustav Kroitzer & Cmdr Rangi Summers

Paul Howorth <palsh963@gmail.com> wrote to chimera@ucip.org:

=/\= Corridor Deck 11 =/\=

It had now been about a week and a half since Gustav's accident with
an EM catapult and only slightly more than a week since he had his
cybernetic arm fitted, now he was away for a medical review from
Commander Summers to see if he was fit for duty.

He had amazed the nurses and doctors at the rehabilitation sessions
with his speedy recovery and his ability to control his new limb so
well in such a short space of time, Gustav wasn't smug about his
achievements but he figured it might be because as an engineer he
might have an affinity towards machines also he had slightly upgraded
the control interface to allow more control, this time drawing out
what he was doing to keep Mimi happy, this also made it slightly
easier as the interface was more complicated than he thought, not like
swapping out servos.

Rangi completed her notes and leaned back in her chair, stretching her
arms above her head to ease constricted muscles. She stifled a yawn,
relaxed and pulled forward the padd listing her appointments for the
morning session.

{Gustav Kroitzer} she read.

Gustav arrived at the sickbay and made his way to Rangi's office, when
he got to the door he pressed the chime button to let he know he was
there.

"Come in please" she called and looked up to see the deputy CEO enter
the room. She smiled to him as she invited him to take a seat and as
he sat down opposite to her asked, "So...how are you?"

"Good thanks… and you?" he replied hoping to be declared fit for duty
as soon as possible as he was bored, there is only so much tinkering
he could do to keep himself amused, Mimi also tried to keep him…
occupied but it still wasn't the same as being on duty.

"I'm well thank you." Rangi replied seeing through his light
heartedness. She looked down at the padd. "This is very encouraging."
she said "In fact you have made an excellent recovery from the
surgery." She raised her eyes to him and laying the padd
flat on her desk asked: "How are you really coping with the arm? I
don't want any exaggerations." she added in a slight warning tone
"...there must have been many difficulties for you. How have you
really found it?"

"I won't say there hasn't been any difficulties but in general I've
found it quite easy to use, the only slight thing is that I have to
concentrate sometimes on what I want the arm to do otherwise I'm…
clumsy" he replied to Rangi's question hoping that she would be
satisfied with the answer.

She nodded. "Well...it's early days isn't it?" she said, "You mustn't
expect too much too soon." They looked at each other. Rangi leaned
forward and rested her arms on her desk, linking her fingers together.
"I understand that you've been making... improvements..." she said
"...would you like to tell me what you've done?"

Always proud of his work he said, "I swapped out the micro servos with
high performance ones allowing more strength and micro control…" he
stopped to take a breath before continuing "…I've also upgraded the
control interface between the arm and my nervous system yet again to
add more control over the limb, it was my hope to, after some more
practice to have just as much fine motor control as I had with my
natural arm".

Rangi's expression showed her surprise." Really?" she asked. "I must
say I'm surprised...and I don't actually see how you have achieved so
much. Do you plan
anything else?"

"Well the only other thing that needs to be done is to maybe upgrade
the power supply to one with a higher capacity" Gustav said answering
her question.

"It goes without saying then that you'll be keen to get back to duty."
She unlocked her fingers and laid a hand on the padd. "The tests show
you certainly have achieved a great deal already and with that in mind
I'm willing to give you the all clear...on two provisos..." she added
quickly "I want you to attend counselling sessions because losing a
limb under any circumstances, despite how well you get on with a
prosthetic one, still has psychological leads and I also want you to
continue with the physio sessions... although you seem to have outdone
most of their testing already." She
flashed a smile to him.

With excitement in his voice at the prospect of getting back to duty,
Gustav started to get up from his chair while saying "Yes Ma'am".

"There is one other thing..." she said making him sit back on his
seat. " Lieutenant Jardan... in security... you know him? He too has
lost a limb though some time ago. It might be of interest to him and
to you if you discussed things."

"Ok Ma'am I'll see about getting in touch with him at some point" Gustav said.

"Good." Rangi replied and drawing the meeting to a close, "...then
I'll notify the Captain that you're fit for duty... but don't push
yourself too much ok?"

"I won't, and thank you" Gustav said before leaving sickbay.

"Where's Luke," the lieutenant asked right after Mnemosyme walked in shortly before dinner was to be served.

"He couldn't make it," Nym answered as she sat down in the chair near the bed.

Dennis eyed her warily but nodded his understanding. He looked at the small device the counselor held in her hand and a feeling of dread spread through him.  "What's that," he asked hoping the information would calm his nerves.

She watched as he picked at the edge of the sheet and blanket.  {A bit edgy ... wonder what's floating through his mind.}  "Just a recording device," she answered simply.  "I thought we might talk some more and I'd record it if it was okay with you... easy to make notes later and update files," she finished in way of an explanation.

Dennis looked at the top of his covers like there was something interesting there, "Okay.... I guess."

"I'll just turn this on and then you can state that you know a recording device is being used and that I have your permission."  Nym turned the small device on and nodded toward her patient.

"I'm Dennis Lapin and I understand that this counseling session is being recorded to which I reluctantly agreed."

{His agreement wasn't really reluctant maybe just not necessarily desired and that was a pretty lucid statement for a man who just a few hours ago said he was confused.}  Nym smiled, "Why don't you tell me something about your beagle?"

"Peanut was a great dog  ... and ...loyal," his voice broke on the last word.  "I haven't been able to stop the images ...," the lieutenant rushed on, "its your fault... Why couldn't I have been killed with some of the others..."

Nym noticed the shiver of his body and the tears that streaked down his face.  "Why couldn't you have just left well enough alone," Lapin asked.  "I told them.... told them about .... the power plant.... you know the one... on New Geneva.... I couldn't even be as loyal as a dog."

"I'm sure you didn't want to..."Nym started but was interrupted.

"Yes I did... I wanted to tell them everything they wanted to know.... anything to stop the pain ....even having my throat slit would have been preferable.  I knew I could be committing treason when I told them.... and I didn't care as long as the pain stopped."

Nym gave the patient a light sedative and figured his own thoughts were torturing him plenty at the moment.  She still filled all her reports and made sure the Lieutenant was put on a suicide watch.  She knew others would want to question him to see what other information he had given out during his torture, because she was quite certain he had been tortured for the information.

[Klingon - Federation Border]

Chisulo stood behind McCormack's chair with his arms crossed as the Lieutenant Commander worked the helm controls. The intelligence officer was to the station at the Captain's right working the communications and sensor console. His name was Lieutenant Jackson, from New Orleans. He had a thick bayou accent that made him hard to understand at times, but his mind was quick and he had a stellar record in the SSFI.

"Captain Chisulo." Jackson called out in his raspy voice. "Klingon border patrol is on the line. They want to speak with the Commanding Officer."

Chisulo approached. "On screen." He ordered in his smooth baritone. As the screen flickered to show the visage of a scarred klingon captain on the bridge of a klingon scout vessel, Chisulo  began his practiced lines.

"This is Captain Tedros Chisulo, how may I assist you Captain?"

+We have no records of your petition to cross these borders, Captain Chisulo. What is the purpose and destination of your transit?+ The klingon didn't offer his name, only his demands. He looked to be direct, blunt, and to-the-point and he played the part well.

"Khitomer." Chisulo replied. "I have a meeting with the Federation liason in the area. Sorry, I'm not allowed to disclose any further information."

The Klingon grunted. +We will confirm your story.+ And the transmission abruptly ended.

"Let's hope that message got through to Khitomer." McCormack commented from the helm.

"It has." Chisulo replied confidently. "I was  assured by Pont Brillant himself."

"They're back." Jackson said.

+Captain Chisulo.+ The Klingon said as he reappeared.  +You are cleared for passage. Safe travels.+ This time her wore a smile, and Tedros could see all of his pointed teeth.

"Thank you. Chisulo out." He nodded Jackson to end the transmission and then  turned back to McCormack. "Commander, best speed to Khitomer. We have a meeting to attend."

[Bridge - Deck One - USS Chimera-B]

"Lieutenant Reese." Rojac called from his chair in the center of the bridge. He had been tapping the armrest in simulated arpeggios for what seemed like half the day now. He was becoming rather irritated with all the waiting. The lithe bajoran helm officer had taken the Chimera on the patrol route four times now at three-quarter impulse. "Have you received any word from Captain Xerxes yet?"

"No sir." Was the marine officer's reply. "Shall I transmit a message?"

Rojac checked his chronometer as he leaned forward from the back of his plush throne-like chair. The plan had been to give Xerxes six hours of radio silence. It had been five hours and forty-five minutes. "No. That will not be necessary."

Rojac stood up. He legs were growing as tired as his brain from all the sitting and waiting. The Captain crossed his arms and strode over to the science station where Lieutenant Commander Ra-Zerphimi was toiling away on the passive long-range sensors.

"Commander, any luck of your own?" Rojac asked.

"That would have to be a negative... sir." The rather eccentric elaysian officer said. He almost forgot to tack on the formal address on the end of his reply, remembering the XO's warning at the last senior officer's meeting. "Passive scans are not picking up any anomalous readings in the area of the outpost. No plasma trails, no subspace distortions or any of the usual traces of warp or impulse travel. I tried to adjust the scans to compensate for known Romulan detection countermeasures, but the passive scans are not able to provide enough resolution for a reliable scan, at this range."

"Of course." Rojac replied, tapping the arpeggio on his left bicep this time. "Keep an eye out, Commander."

"Aye sir."

Disappointed Rojac strode over to his chair once more to find a message awaiting him on the armrest display. He sat back down, and pulled up the report from Commander Wellington. As he read through it, none of his suspicions were quelled. He still found it very hard to believe that a unificationist would be in the Tal'Shiar. With the organizations long list of operations against the Vulcans, it didn't make since for them to willingly allow one into their ranks.

Then an idea hit him when he read her line that it was as if the prisoner was not of one mind. Perhaps he wasn't. He quickly called down to sickbay to contact Commander Summers. He reply was quick.

+Summers here.+

"Commander," Rojac began, "I need a full DNA and brain scan of the Romulan prisoner in the brig. We need to determine if he is Romulan or not. Please have him sedated and processed by either yourself, or one of your senior officers as soon as possible."

+Understood, sir. Is that all?+

"Yes, Commander. Thank you. Rojac out."

"Captain." Reese called form her station. "Message from Captain Xerxes. The flight has been a success, they are in transit for landing procedures."

"What's their ETA, Lieutenant?"

"At current speed, twenty minutes."

"Good. Have her meet me in the Ready Room as soon as the last fighter is landed." He ordered. "Then begin preparations for stage two. Put security teams on stand-by for scramble. Have helm plot a direct course for a transporter sweep of the station, and double check that Scardona's transporter program is ready to go."

"Aye sir."

Rojac then headed to his office doors to send a quick update to Taskforce Command. It would be a quick read for the Lieutenant Colonel:

Commencing operation.

Jade was in her office when Vaughn walked in, "just got the
memo." He said taking a seat on the spots on the small couch
that she had in the office. "So what's this new assignment?"
Vaughn asked.

"You will know when the two other people get here." Jade
said signing a few PADDs and dealing with some of the other
things that needed to get done, but that could wait a little
bit longer before they would need to get done.

Hurrying to ODCC {being late was never good, since one
stands out of the line}, Dexter walked into the room a bit
out of breath. He needed one or two more breaths before
saying: "Sir, reporting as ordered". {Damn, when I was in
the gym for the last time? Hmm ... can't remember}

Once everyone was in the office and the door was shut Jade
activated a screen on the wall to show a map of the 071
outpost, "alright our assignment is to create a timing
program to transport three security teams. The reason for
the timing program there are three holes within the shield
passes and thats when we have to get the security teams over
there." Jade said taking a seat again.

"That means three separate transporter rooms, with one or
two more dedicated to emergency support" said Dexter without
considering if his superior was already finished. He blushed
a bit and said: "I am sorry to interrupt you, sir."

Just after Dexter finish speaking the final member of the
team walked in, "sorry I'm late." Lauren Fisher said taking
a seat in the last empty chair.

"This is CPO Lauren Fisher he's one of the transporter techs
I thought it would be nice to have one on the team." Jade
said nodding when he sat down.

"No problem Lieutenant." Jade said smiling and glad that he
was finally coming out of his shell, "true, but we also need
three to set-up three different transport sites on the
outpost." Jade said brining up a more close up map of the
outpost with the three locations marked in red.

"What are the time specifications for each of the holes,
sir?" Dexter asked.

"Three seconds." Was all Jade said before continuing on she
allowed that to sink in and allow everyone to understand
after three seconds those people would be gone.

"That's definitely not much" Dexter sighed. "But I've seen a
reports some 15 years old from the USS Enterprise where
Chief O'Brien beamed once on an another Starfleet ship while
it's shields were online. He used the known shield rotation
time to achieve that and he had only milliseconds. On the
other hand ... shields were somewhat simpler 15 years back"

Lauren spoke up, "I've also read those reports, but like you
said that was 15 years ago and we've made to many advances
in shielding technology and not enough in transporter."
Lauren said, "but it only takes about half second to
dematerialize and re-materialize, so right there that's one
second and then the rest of the time will be to get them
where need them." Lauren said.

"So I would really recommend, three different transporter
rooms, three back up ones for emergency needs. I suggest
employing the computer to calculate the exact begin on the
three second holes"

"I agree once we're done here I'll check with the
transporter chief and make sure that we can do that." Jade
said looking over at Lauren who would help her convince the
Chief that they needed this many transporters.

"What about trying to beam a test object first?" Dexter
asked. "Some probe or something. If a probe gets lost – no
great harm done"

"Maybe I would need to speak with the CO and security teams,
but I think they want to be stealthy and I think a test
object would throw the surprise away." Jade said not trying
to shoot down ideas, but this mission screamed stealth.

Dexter nodded: "I understand" he said. He really did –
he was long enough in Special Forces to know that the
parameters of their mission favoured more the success of the
mission then human lives. "I'll prepare the sub routine
within half an hours"

[USS Chimera] SD240901.21 Duty Log - 1Lt COps Jade Reese - "The Program"

<< OOC, there are also will be a JL with more detail about the program
that myself and Shane have been working on I'm hoping to get it out
this week. >>

=/\= ODCC, USS Chimera C =/\=

Jade was in her office making the final touches on the timing program
for the security teams that were going to transport over to the
outpost. The ability to have three transporters for backup made Jade
feel a little better if something went wrong with the main transporter
fails. After Jade was statisfied with the program she stood up and
headed out of the ODCC and headed to the security offices and she
would also need to head up to the bridge to give the CO and XO an
update on the program.

Jade decided that she would stop off at Security first and the maybe
who ever she hands the program to would go with her to the see the CO
and XO, so Jade would only need to give the update once. She got to
the turbolift with minuets of leaving the ODCC she had the program on
two PADDs and she also had a tablet with some other updates she wanted
the CO and XO to see.

Minuets later Jade was entering the security HQ's looking for who ever
was going to be the lead the security teams on the outpost.

***  Ready Room Security***

" All teams are in position, sir. Ready as soon as we get the green light." Johnson stood with the other members of the team and waited for the order to depart. The team had been training for a few days and every member knew his part in the operation. " Have they recievred any word from the outpost yet?"

*** Sick Bay ***

Tommy listened to the question anfd shook his head, then realized that Johnson would not see him. " Not yet, chief but they are still trying to reach someone." Tommy raised his bed up alittle and went on, " By the way...When you get back, we need to talk about trying to decieve your boss. You said that you were taking four man teams but I just watched the video of your run throughs in the simulator. Why only two man teams? who gabve that order? Never mind." Tommy closed his eyes." Good luck out there, Heath. Be careful. Jardan out."

*** Security Ready Room ***

Johnson turned off the line to sick bay and turned to another switch." Johnson and team to the Bridge. We ready to go. If every one else is ready, please give us the green light."

[USS Chimera] SD: 240901.21 Duty Log, MCapt. Anya Xerxes, Flight Ops CO

----------
Start Log
----------

Anya led the First Flight of Lancer Squadron into an escort position for Ghost Flight who had decloaked once out of the range of the sensor station.  "Lancer One to Ghost One.  Find anything of interest out there today?"

The female voice of First Lieutenant Angelica Yueh replied quickly through the preassigned short range frequency. "Negative Lancer One, all we found were a few radiation traces possibly from Romulan Disruptor fire or discharges from an impulse engine on a warbird or possibly two at most.  To be honest with our sensor capabilities we couldn't really have found out much more even if it was there to find.  We weren't exactly built for scouting missions."

"I'm aware of the limitations in the sensors Ghost One, that was why we brought along Sun God as well.  Their readings seem to indicate much the same as yours, two warbirds and possibly some fighters as well.  The reason I sent you in was to see how they were behaving around the station itself.  The fact they were remaining cloaked even in close proximity to the station indicates that they are being cautious which more than likely that means an ambush but with only two warbirds...possibly a test." Anya mused.

Anya switched her frequency to that for the whole unit though the effective range on the transmission was still extremely short...all the better for avoiding being intercepted by a Romulan Listening Post.  "All fighters form up escort positions and RTB.  Upon return maintain active state of readiness and Ghost Flight I want you to switch payload to a B1 Loadout, Lancer Squadron stay with the A2 Loadout and Sun God set your systems for active data link control.  Make no mistakes people next time we're going into a direct combat situation and I won't class it as a success unless every single one of you makes it back alive and intact...the paperwork for a KIA is a bitch do you get me?"

There was a chorus of "Aye Captain" from the assorted fighters that made up her unit along with a round of chuckles that made Anya grin behind the visor of her helmet.  Whilst that may not have been the ultra formal discipline that the XO may have demanded at the senior staff briefing it was what suited Anya's command style best and especially an elite unit like the one she was in charge of, her pilots didn't need to be treated like unruly school children.  Whilst they spoke without much formality these weren't green rookies but battle hardened veterans who had high self discipline keeping both their fighters and bodies in top flight condition.

Anya took a look at the ETA counter which displayed their remaining time until the unit rendezvous with Chimera.  With little else to do whilst the auto pilot controlled the fighter whilst in warp flight Anya began to write up her report on the findings of the scouting mission to send to the Captain upon return.  She couldn't help the feeling that something wasn't quite right about this mission that it was something more than a simple Romulan ambush.

[USS Chimera] Re: SD 240901.21 | Cardassian Union | Duty Log, Maj Kinn (3TF CovOps)

OOC: Sorry I forgot to add that this happens a week or more ago since Giella is already on Unity.

2009/1/21 Bren Ohmsford <ohmsford83@gmail.com>
= Cardassian Empire - Aschelan V =

Lady Giellera t'Cianan wandered around the decorative marketplace in the town of Ahjal on Aschelan V, known for its beautifully crafted Jewelry made by Cardassian jewelers, a craft that had exploded after the Dominion War. New Cardassian Art, as it was called, was all the rage in the Ferengi Alliance - anything from paintings to jewelry to food and even literature - and had returned the war-ravaged militarist Union to its ancient, cultural roots. Ferengi traders bought the craftworks by the boatloads because everyone wanted it.

Not really in the mood to be haggled at by Ferengis, Lady Giellera had come to visit Aschelan V with an entourage in order to shop from the Cardassians in peace and quiet. At least that was the story she was sticking with. Spotting a vendor a few paces away in the open-air market, she proceeded towards him, twirling the parasol she held in her right hand that hid her from the sun.

Stopping at the stall, she looked at the Cardassian man and then at the display case that contained the jewelry. "May I see that one?" she asked, pointing to the piece in the middle. It was pehaps a bit too clunky for her taste, but it appealed to her nonetheless.

"Yes ma'am," he responded and opened display, but as he took it out one of the clasps broke. "I'm sorry, that can be easily fixed, I assure you. Please, I can fix it for you if you follow me."

"Of course," Lady Giellera nodded, brushing away a strand of dark blonde curls with a gloved hand. She stepped gracefully aside of the display stall and followed the Cardassian to a thatched stone building a few paces away. He stepped inside and she followed, the door closing behind her.

Suddenly she felt something grab her, a pair of strong, cold hands grasping her waist and pulling her close against the body of a man. The Cardassian pressed his lips strongly against hers in a passionate kiss and threw down her parasol and threw her arms around his neck in a passionate embrace as he clawed at her gown.

"Wait, wait wait," she said as she suddenly stood back. "I can't rip my clothes, they'll know!"

"Giella... we don't have time to take off all your clothes! How many layers are you wearing?!" the Cardassian said exasperatedly.

"Need I remind you it was your idea, Jaelak, to be as authentic as possible. This is the way Taulloran noblewomen dress; trust me, I did it for long enough."

"All right, all right. I'm sorry. It's just been a long time since we've seen each other," Jaelak sighed. "Let's go to the cellar."

Giella followed Jaelak as he opened a trapdoor in the floor of the house leading down to a hitech room below. She followed him down the ladder and he closed the door when was inside. "The life of a spy," she said as she looked around the heavy-tech room. Everything from long range sensors to lab equipment.

"So tell me... what's going on with the Breen and the Cardassians," Giella urged. "I know everything isn't proper there. Every since Starfleet's encounter at Antogonis with them there have been many birds in the grass."

"Birds?" Jaelak asked, confused. "I thought the expession was 'snake in the grass'."

"You've been spending too much time with humans," Giella said, glaring at him. "Don't tell me you've started drinking coffee as well."

"Oh powers, no," Jaelak replied with a shudder. "I can't stand that stuff. Now, to answer your question... it seems as if the Obsidian Order is busy negotiating some agreement between the Confederacy and the Union. I don't think it's a civilian agreement, probably something secret that is meant to be kept away from those with prying eyes."

"Like ourselves?" Giella asked innocently.

"Exactly," Jaelak replied.

"Have you brought this under the attention of Ambassador Guzman?" Giella asked. "I think he should know as soon as possible."

"I haven't had a chance to–"

Jaelak was interrupted by the alarming beeping on one of his many computer systems. "Damn," he said when he looked at what was making the noise. "Military personnel are here. We have to get out of here now."

"Is there another way out?" Giella asked, looking around the very-solid looking cellar.

"Of course," Jaelak spat back. "Didn't you learn anything in Intelligence training?"

"No need to be rude," she muttered as she quickly followed him to the end of the room underneath a table where a hatch was concealed holographically. They climbed inside and crawled ahead a few meters until the corridor split.

"Where to now?" she asked, looking left and right.

"You go right," Jaelak answered. "And I'll go left."

"Jaelak... it might be a while before I see you again," Giella said, reaching up a hand to touch his, softly caressing the scales on his jawline.

"What's the matter? Your eyes are turning blue," Jaelak said looking into her slitted eyes. Tollaurans didn't cry, but their eyes turned a deep blue when they experience a similar emotion.

"I've been assigned to be the assistant to the 1st Task Force's Intelligence Advisor on Starbase Unity. It's all the way on the other side of the Federation, and it could a be long time before we—"

They heard foosteps down the tunnel and Jaelak grabbed her pale face and kissed her deeply. "Don't worry. I'll see you again. Even if I have to travel all the way to Unity to do so."

"Take of yourself, Jaelak," she said and the scurried down the tunnel to her right as Jaelak crawled away to the left.

[USS Chimera] SD 240901.20 Personal Log, Cmdr Ohmsford (1TF Sci/Eng)

OOC: Takes place before the JL between Rick and Bren

= SB Unity, 1TF Personnel Section - Ohmsford Quarters =

Bren rolled around in the bed and extended his right hand ahead of him to grab Liev and pull him closer, but merely clutched at empty sheets and realised after a moment that Liev wasn't in bed anymore. Reluctantly opening his eyes, he looked around the empty room, its lighting dim. He glanced at the bedside table and the chronometer and saw that he still had five minutes to go before he had to be up. But, knowing that it would be useless to get any more sleep in five minutes, he rolled himself out of bed and waddled sleepily into the living room area.

"Good morning," Liev said with a smile from the kitchen where he was busy making coffee, brewing it from real ground beans instead of the replicated stuff which he had somehow grown a dislike for. "I'm making coffee, do you want some?"

"Yes, please," Bren mumbled and rubbed his eyes and stumbled into the open kitchen area, flopping down on a barstool in front of the counter. "Why are you up so early? And already dressed?"

"Busy day," Liev replied as he fetched another cup and poured the steaming black liquid into it. "I have a number of files to get through and I've been assigned to the greeting party for the Klingon delegation."

"Oh yes... I heard about that," Bren replied as his memory became a bit clearer. "I heard they're only sending an envoy and two aides. Some delegation."

"Quite," Liev sighed. "Notice came from Ambassador Torres herself. According to her report, the Houses were fighting about whether or not to send an ambassador to Unity, so the Chancellor decided to send an Envoy for now. Frankly I can think of better things than babysitting Klingons."

"Like balmy days and sweet sangria?" Bren grinned as he took the cup of coffee Liev offered him.

"That reminds me. We should book some holosuite time again. When I can actually see over the stack of padds on my desk. And when you get back from your assignment. How long are you expecting to be gone?"

"Hopefully no longer than four days," Bren replied, sipping the hot coffee. "But I doubt it will even take that long. It's rather out of the way so we shouldn't run into any trouble, hopefully."

"Four days?" Liev said as he came around the counter and put a hand around Bren's waist and put his head on Bren's shoulder. "At least it's not four months."

Bren smiled. "No, don't worry. It's only three light years away. We'll be back in no time, you'll see. You just take care of your Klingons and I'll bring you back a souveneir."

"Just bring me back yourself," Liev said and gave Bren a kiss before heading towards the door. "I'll come say goodbye before you leave tonight."

"Have a nice day!" Bren called after him before the door closer. He looked towards the window behind the lounge area that looked out over Unity's outer ring and onto the northern continent of Aeran III. He hadn't been down to the planet yet, but made a note to visit it when he came back.

=/\= Counselor's Quarters =/\=
Athena sat at the desk in her quarters and typed a few notes down.  She left that screen laying flat on the desk top, but open so that she can readily access it thoughts for her report to the Captain.

TO: Captain Cropa Rojac
From: Commander Athena Wellington

RE: Prisoner Interrogation -  Mr Terrh

Although I believe it is true that the prisoner would prefer to solve any situation he is in without force; I could not determine if his discipleship was genuine.  I did sense that he is capable of great violence.

Athena got up and made a couple circuits around the living space as she thought about how to word what she wanted to convey next.  She finished the second round at the small replicator that could handle drink and a few light meals.  She retrieved a hot tea from the replicator before returning to her desk.  She set the drink on her desk and it looked as if it were the anchor to the open notes page.

He is not concerned in the slightest about being interrogated by Starfleet Intelligence or what methods might be used.  Given the sudden suicide of one of the other prisoners, one might conclude that there still could be a hidden poison pellet on the prisoner where he could end his own life at his own discretion.

Athena picked up her cup and took a sip as she referenced her page of notes.  She leaned back in the chair; her fingers tapping the cup as she mentally organized her next thoughts.  She leaned forward taking another sip of the beverage that was now almost tepid.

At the barest mention of the Breen, a thought that came to mind with something I sensed, got a reaction from Mr. Terrh.  I will not speculate beyond this.  One last item that seems off is the directness of his stare... it reminds me of someone who is not quite of one mind, but this is speculation on my part.

Athena sat back and reread the report in its entirety.  As she leaned forward to pick her cup up again, she nodded and pressed the send button.  The report would go directly to the Captain and copies would follow to necessary parties.  She took another sip from her cup and ended up spitting out the now cold beverage.

[USS Chimera] 240901.20, Joint Duty Log, Cdr Bren Ohmsford and Cdr Rick Rodgers

= SB Unity - Main Engineering =

Bren stepped onto the floor of Unity's large Main Engineering complex and walked
over to the massive MSD that covered the entire starbase. Since he was assigned
to fetch the shipyard at the Tarangor System by Commodore Guzman, he knew he
would need some help with the project, and he could think of no one better than
Commander Rodgers to help him with it.

Walking towards the MSD he kept an eye open for Commander Utley, but didn't see
her. He stopped in front of the tall display screen in the centre of the floor and took
a closer look at the current display which was a detailed display of the EPS network.
He turned to walk to his right when suddenly a woman appeared from the other side
of the screen and gasped.

Chloe had been talking to one of her engineers on her communicator, and not paying
attention,

+tap+ "I know we're having problems with ..." she felt her heart skip a beat, then took
a deep breath. "Lieutenant, I'll have to get back with you."

She looked at Bren, surprised to see the task force science adviser.

"Sir?"
"Sorry to have startled you, Commander Utley. How is everything going down here in
Engineering?" Bren asked as he slipped his hands in his pockets and looked around.
"Everything is going well," she replied, knowing deep down that wasn't completely the
truth.

'Cover your own ass,' she thought.

"I'm actually looking for Commander Rodgers. Have you seen him around by any
chance?"
'Rodgers, huh?' she thought with disdain.

"I'm ... I'm not certain of his whereabouts," she answered, then yelled out to a passing
officer. "Lieutenant Farralon, do you know where Commander Rodgers is?"

"He's working on the emitters in Cargo Bay 2 as you ordered," he said.

"Oh," was her reply, then looked up at Bren. "Cargo Bay 2."

"Thank you," Bren replied with a nod and then turned to leave, but then quickly turned
as he remembered what he was supposed to tell her. "Oh, I've been assigned Acting
Engineering Advisor for the time being. I'd like to discuss Unity's Engineering department
with you, but I have an assignment that will take me away from the base for a couple
of days, so that will have to wait for now. Until then you can continue to report to
Colonel PontBrillant. Oh, and I need to borrow Commander Rodgers for the assignment;
I hope you don't mind."

"Of course," Chloe replied.

'You can keep him as long as you want,' she considered adding, but thought better of it.

"Good," Bren grinned, not sure if she appreciated the sentiment. "I'll see you when I get
back then, Commander. Have a good day."
"You too," she said, not really caring one way or the other.

= SB Unity - Cargo Bay 2 =

Bren wandered into Cargo Bay 2 looking for Rick a few minutes later. As one of the
hundred-plus cargo bays of the starbase, Cargo Bay looked pretty much like any other,
except traffic through it was a little quieter while the engineers - or in this case, Rick -
was busy working on the emitters. He spotted the former Chief at a maintenance
terminal near the far wall and headed towards him. It was nothing less than a miracle
that he had been able to recover so quick, and Bren was glad to see the engineer back
on duty again.
Rick had the original emitter work finished an hour or so ago and was now making
improvements, not only to the emitters but to the cargo bay transporters.

"Commander Rodgers," Bren said as he approached, suddenly wondering if Rick would
remember him. "How are you doing?"
"Commander Ohmsford!" Rick turned and smiled to see the familiar face. "I doing good.
And you?"

"I can't complain," Bren replied, glad Rick remembered him. He seemed somehow different,
though Bren couldn't place his finger on exactly why. But it was to be expected there
would be some changes to him after what had happened. "Well, I suppose I can but then
we'd be here all day."

"What I can do for you?" Rick asked, then shook his head. "I mean what ... can ... I ... do
for you?"

"I need your help with an assignment," Bren explained. "About three light years from here
is the Tarangor System. It's an old white dwarf with a planetary nebula that has a derelict
Starfleet outpost stationed there. Along with the outpost is a dockyard that Commodore
Guzman would like to have towed here. I'll need an experienced engineer to help me assess
the condition of both the yard and the outpost. What do you say?"
"Sounds like fun," Rick said, feeling excited about the possibility about such a mission.
"When we start?"

"We can be ready to leave in about six hours," Bren said. "We'll be taking the Qashqai. The
Rapier and a tug from the Corps of Engineers will be accompanying us. Six hours enough for
you to get your things together?"

"Plenty time. Commander Utley be glad to get me out her ... of her hair."

"Excellent, I'll see you then commander," Bren grinned.

Until then you can continue to report to
Colonel PontBrillant. Oh, and I need to borrow Commander Rodgers for the assignment;

[USS Chimera] SD 240901.19 Joint Log, Cmdrs Trzetrzelewska (XO) & Wellington (CCns)

= Main Brig =

Athena arrived at the brig only to be stopped by a couple of rather large looking men.  She stated her business, but still they barred her progress.

"I'm sorry, Commander," the guard said to Athena. "Commander Trzetrzelewska ordered that no one be allowed inside without her permission."

Athena poked the burly man's chest with her index finger, "Well, I suggest you go and get her permission because the Captain just ordered me here to help... and unless you want me to flip you flat on your back and then have you explain it to the captain from there you'll move you ass through those doors and tell the Commander I'm here."

"Um... all right, please wait a second," the guard replied, visibly nervous as he went to the door.

Natalia looked towards the door as it opened and saw the guard standing on the other side and behind him Commander Wellington. "Yes?" she said calmly.

"Commander Wellington has been sent by the captain to verify the statement of the prisoner," the guard whispered in Natalia's ear. She suspected the Romulan probably heard him as well; their hearing was very keen.

Natalia just nodded and waited until Athena stepped inside. "Commander," she greeted Athena. "Meet Mr Terrh."

Athena entered the room and gave the prisoner a very intense once over and continued to stare at him with her clear blues eyes.  A small tilt of her head was the only greeting that was forth coming.

The Romulan returned her greeting with a similar slight nod. Outside he was as calm as ever, but he suspected she was probably a telepath of some sort at the guards whispered instruction to the XO which began to unsettle him every so slightly.

"He was just telling me about the Romulan Unificationists," Natalia explained to Athena while keeping her eyes on Terrh. "He tells me that there are still quite a few of them left, but that most of them have gone underground in recent years."

"Sounds very interesting," Athena replied not adjusting her gaze in the slightest.

"I still wonder, Mr Terrh, why it is that a Unificationist is working for the Tal'Shiar?" Natalia questioned him.

"We do not trust the Tal'Shiar, Commander," Terrh replied without delay. "We have been questioning their motives behind the attack on the Federation. It is unclear to us why they have been so eager to go to war."

"No one trusts the Tal'Shiar," Natalia replied flatly. "I'm not even sure the Romulan Senate does."

"A keen observation, Commander," Terrh said with a nod.

Athena made a hand movement suggesting that Natalia not give the man anymore information to work with.  Keeping her glacial gaze steady on her target, she asked, "And what Are your observations?"  She wasn't quite buying his story and everything he said and his reactions toward her kept giving her little bits of knowledge.

Terrh looked at Athena. Her appearance, which would have been enough to distract a male member of almost any species, was of no interest to him; it was her eyes he was looking at. "My observations, Commander, is that you are an empath, or maybe a telepath. Deltan... no, Betazoid? And your purpose here is to discern whether or not I'm telling the truth?"

Athena's expression didn't change.  {There's something familiar... a feeling  ...a thought.}  The silence ticked by as she flipped through her thoughts.  {Need more... I know this from.... }

Natalia watched the exchange between the prisoner and the counselor closely. It was obvious something was going on, but just what exactly that was, she didn't know. She got the feeling Athena's mind was working much harder than her expression was revealing.

The counselor showed no signs that she even heard what the prisoner had said and the silence was becoming almost uncomfortable. "Which would you prefer," she finally asked.

"Mind-reading is a dangerous business," Terrh simply replied. "You can't always be sure if what you're reading is the truth."

Sensing that this was going to turn into a game of cryptic dialogue tennis, Natalia said, "I'm still waiting to hear what you're doing on this ship, Mr Terrh."

"That I can't reveal," he answered, his face calm.

"It doesn't matter anyway," Natalia sighed exasperatedly, placing an arm on her hip. "Starfleet Intelligence will deal with you, and I can assure you they will extract the information out of you, whether you want to give it or not."

There was a flash of something that caused the word, "Breen," to slip as a whisper past Athena's lips.

Natalia caught a flash of annoyance passing across the face of Terrh and she knew Athena had hit a nerve. The Breen... the missing Quasar... Antigonis. What would he have to do with that?

"I think this conversation has come to an end for now," Natalia said to Terrh. "If there's anything more you'd like to say... you know where to find us."

She touched Athena's elbow and the two walked towards the door, leaving Terrh watching after them closely. Natalia could feel his eyes burning into her back. The door slid open and they stepped outside, letting the guards back in.

"Watch him, closely..." Natalia told them quietly. "Thank you," she said to Athena, who nodded back. It would be interesting to read the counselor's report on the interrogation, she thought.

=/\= Psychiatric Ward - Private Counseling RM 4 =/\=
"Luke," Mneomsyme started, "Today I want you to ask Dennis about his childhood about his mom and dad."

"Ok," Luke agreed wondering what the stupid marine had up her sleeve this time.  {Marines should not be allowed to become counselors they have no manners.}

Mnemosyme set herself up in the corner again and waited for Lapin to arrive while Luke shuffled through some of his notes while waiting as well.

Lt. Lapin was escorted in by a nurse and he smiled when he saw Luke, but when his gaze fell to Nym the smile disappeared and a hardness appeared in his eyes.

{Make you comfortable... do I} she thought as she smiled and nodded for him to take a seat.

"How are you today," Luke asked starting with something mundane to put Dennis at ease.

"I'm good," Dennis replied automatically like so many do.

Luke nodded and asked, "Could we talk about your childhood today?  See if anything is any clearer there."

The other man nodded his agreement but didn't initiate any conversation.  Mnemosyme gave Luke a pointed look and the cadet asked, "Did you have a pet?"

"Oh, yes, a beagle, named Peanut.  He was a scrapper.... he was white with spots of brown that sort of looked like...peanuts ...hence the name."

=/\= 25 Minutes Later =/\=
Mnemosyme covered a yawn as had listen to Dennis' description of his childhood pet and how they were best friends and the description of his mother who must have been quite lovely from the things that the Lieutenant said and all about the delicious oatmeal cookies she made and how great they were straight from the oven.

Finally, on the topic of his father, Nym perked up a bit in her seat.  She listened to the description and came to the realization that the Lapin men must have looked a bit alike.  Like a stair stepped age progression of genealogy.

"Did you do things with your dad," Luke asked {amazing the witch hasn't said a thing yet.}

"Yes, we used to take Peanut and go fishing," Dennis responded.

Before she could be regaled with the fishing stories Nym finally cut into the session asking, "Did you ever do errands with him?"

Dennis frown a bit, but answered, "Yeah, sure doesn't every kid?"

"I believe so," Nym responded and ignoring Luke's scowl continued, "Lots of kids visit their parents at work, since your Mom stayed home did you visit your dad?"

"Yes," Dennis answered and continued more toward Luke, "The fishing trips were the best.."

"Where," Nym simply asked.

Dennis turned to meet her expression which showed nothing and asked, "Where what?"

"Where did you visit your dad when he was at work," she clarified.

"I don't remember," was the quick reply from the Lieutenant.

Luke was getting ready to move on but Nym persisted, "Yes, you do... Just close your eyes and picture it."

Dennis did close his eyes and Nym only hoped he was actually doing what she was asking.  "Think about what's around the sidewalks, grass, trees, then the type of bricks or stone, whatever the building is made of.."  She watched as the patient seemed to nod his head as if the picture was becoming clear.  She went on, "Can you see it... is there a name on it?"

Dennis stopped nodding his head and became very still and then his eyes pooped open.  "No.. no... I can't.  I don't remember."

"Yes... you do," Nym responded calmly, "you just saw it."

"NO!"

"Don't you think we should move on to something else," Luke suggested.

Nym shook her head and asked again, "I bet you took Lunch to your dad with your mom at ..." She let her words fall off hoping that Dennis would fill in the blank."

Dennis shook his head and started screaming, "NO... NO... Stop... NO..."

Luke scowled at Nym and it was obvious she blamed her for the patients agitated state.  "Are you done," he asked with disgust.

Mnemosyme was sure that Dennis did remember at least for a brief second or two.  {Push and get an answer or retreat and try again?  He remembers and doesn't want to say because of the other memories... or he remembers but is brain is forcing it away to keep him protected.}  She sat there contemplating her own thoughts as Luke calmed Dennis and took him back to his room in the ward.
