***Admirals Bridge, EAS Hermes***

General Viktor Ivanov leaned on the edge of the holographic display
table watching the clock tick down to the Federation Ghost Flight
hitting the 4 power cores in one simultaneous strike. The blips on
his display showed the estimated position of the 4 Z-105 Shadows as
they made their way towards the target. From the corner of his eye he
saw Captain Chisulomoving about looking at the readouts on the various
displays. It wasn't that Viktor was feeling compassionate but for
once he hoped he wasn't right about what lay below R'Veras V.

***Ghost One, R'Veras V, North Pole***

First Lieutenant Angelica Yueh breathed a sigh of relief as her
fighters broke into the atmosphere without the passive sensors
registering active scans from the Romulan Orbital Defense Stations.
Admittedly she thought the Erassians had planned it out well. The
plan of attack was planned to the second and it wasn't too complex so
it was still able to adapt if unexpected events occurred.

Up until now Angelica had wondered why Anya had always shook her head
over mission briefs handed down by SSF brass but now Angelica had a
clear idea why she had been that way. At the time Angelica had simply
dismissed it as some young upstart trying to cover her own
deficiencies. How wrong she had been. With this operation plan
everything foreseeable had been accounted for. In fact right now..."

***Admirals Bridge, EAS Hermes***

"Deploy engines make ready for warp jump to target" Viktor said
announcing the detail of the operation plan highlighted on the timer
countdown. He felt a slight shudder as the warp nacelles fully
extended and locked in place. The rhythmic thrum of the warp cores
increased as they brought themselves up to power. "Engines Approved.
Jump to Predetermined Warp in five... four... three... two... one...
jump!" With that the ragtag Erassian task force leaped to light speed
committing themselves to the task ahead.

***Ghost One, R'Veras V, Trav'Neus Canyons***

The countdown on the clock was approaching zero, there was less than a
minute remaining. Her squadron had slowed their approach for the
final leg of the bombing run and had each split off on their paths to
their specific targets. The navigation computers displayed their
routes and the exact speed they should be doing and heading.

Now fully under the gaze of the enemy's sensor network they had
cloaked before detected and were now running dead silent towards the
cores. The hardest part was that they had to strike simultaneously
otherwise the overall mission would become more difficult by several
factors.

Even so despite the harsh requirements of the mission objectives
Angelica was confident of her teams success. Most unit commanders who
had worked well with their subordinates would say the same but
Angelica knew her team was at the top of their game. Not only had
they been asked to join the elite unit being formed on the newly built
Chimera-C but here they were chosen not only for the unique abilities
of their fighters but their own skills as well.

Her unit had been described as the linchpin of this entire part of
Operation Magna. Angelica knew that their inclusion in this operation
had been in no small way thanks to the recommendation of her former
unit CO Marine Captain Anya Xerxes, now a Major. It had been a hard
blow for her flight of Z-105's to be removed from Chimera's roster but
the reference the now Major Xerxes had played had been vital in
securing their participation today. Truth be told Angelica had always
thought Anya full of hot air till she arrived on the Hermes and
Angelica and her pilots were greeted like minor celebrities just for
the fact they knew Anya. The reputation of the 'Stormchild' was a big
one within the Erassian Alliance evidently.

The timer alerted that Angelica and her unit were due to hit their
target in less than 15 seconds. For this job they had been given a so
called 'Phantom' Missile supposedly a creation that was still held
under the highest level of classification within the Alliance. Her
timer reached zero and she depressed the trigger on her control stick
releasing the Phantom Missile towards its destined target.

***Defense Station Kaylar'Z, Main Engineering***

He looked like any other Romulan walking into the primary power core
room. If he looked nervous well that was to be expected he had been
here for a quarter cycle and it was time for his review. A thin glaze
of sweat beaded his forehead which was outwardly considered to be a
sign of nerves about his poor review. Little did the others know it
was simply the layer of the explosives within the lining of his
clothes that were making him nervous. He approached his boss Leth'nar
who greeted him coldly by the power core and replied saying "I once
read that 'Parting is all we know of heaven and all we need of hell.'
Perhaps its time to find out?" His thumb pushed down on the hidden
detonator within his pocket.

***Admirals Bridge, EAS Hermes***

The Hermes dropped out of warp just as the Romulan Defense Station
Kaylar'Z blew out half its decks from the detonation of it's main
power core. Viktor barely gave the erupting station a second glance
as he ordered "Second wave launch". The holographic display below
him showed his two escort Cruisers laying long range artillery fire
into two of the three remaining Defense Stations and his destroyers
engaging the Romulan Warbirds guarding the R'Veras System. So far so
good...

[USS Chimera] SD 240909.12 || BETA || BACKLOG || JL || Capt Rojac, CO & Lt Kroitzer, CEO ||

=/\= Main Engineering – USS Chimera =/\=

Gustav had finished the installation of the stealth plating and was now coordinating his department's efforts in getting engineering ready for the next mission while in a Jeffries tube replacing a faulty EPS manifold.

"Captain on deck!" Called a voice near the entrance to the cavernous room.

As soon as he heard the call that the Captain was in engineering Gustav capped off the EPS lines that lead to the manifold so he could finish the replacement later, after the Captain had left Kroitzer's domain.

As he exited the tube Gustav spotted where the Captain was standing and quickly headed there.

Rojac walked around behind the Engineers at their workstations with his hands on his waist. He was studying an Ensign's progress in adjusting the plasma conduit manifolds when he heard hurried footsteps heading in his direction. He looked up to see the CEO bearing down on his position.

"Hard at work, Mr. Kroitzer?" Rojac said with a smirk hiding beneath his beard. "Surely you're leaving something for your department to handle?"

"Yes Sir and there is always more work to be done on this ship Captain, we don't exactly treat her gently" Gustav said while snapping off a salute.

The Captain returned the gesture. "Its a good leadership style, Lieutenant. Keep it up." He put his hands behind his back and began walking around the gangway surrounding the  pulsating warp core. "She hasn't been giving you any trouble has she?" Rojac asked, tilting his head toward the subject of discussion. "I've noticed some mild efficiency fluctuations in your last couple of reports. Lieutenant Dior at the helm says its part of the 'fine tuning'."

"Aye Sir in the days of motor cars and combustion engines you used to have to run in an engine to harden the parts so that when you floored it you wouldn't blow it up."

Rojac admired the tall, pulsating structure before him, basking in its cool blue glow. "It is an engine I suppose. But I don't see how the mechanics of a simple fuel combustion engine can compare to the sheer power of a matter/antimatter reaction." The Captain said.

"Well the ship is a bit like that only being the flagship of the SSF we don't get the luxury of a run in period so, we have to replace items slightly more regularly than some other ships causing your power fluctuations".

Rojac nodded. "Well, I wouldn't want a part to fail in the middle of a battle, would I?" He placed his hands on his hips and turned to walk toward the master systems display station in the main foyer. "You don't have any outstanding projects I should know about before Red Alert tomorrow, do you Lieutenant?"

Thinking how camp the captain looked with his hands on his hips Gustav managed to stifle a giggle "No Sir no projects on the go, well none that would jeopardise the mission anyway" he explained.

"Is there something funny, Lieutenant?" Cropa had turned to see the awkward contortions of Gustav's face as he stifled the chuckle. He removed the hands form his hips, and crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"No Sir, nothing at all" Gustav answered.

The Captain eyed the engineer conspicuously as if doubting the integrity of the answer, but he quickly decided to shrug it off. "I guess its nothing then." He muttered.

"There is one thing I wished to ask you about though Sir, although it isn't about engineering".

"Ask away, Lieutenant." Rojac answered.

"Well I was wanting to ask you about me integrating some personal defence into my arm, something like a small phaser".

The Captain's eyebrows raised. "Planning on taking Major Cortez's job, Mr. Kroitzer? Or is that phaser on your hip just not enough?" Rojac quipped. "I was unaware of the heightened crime levels here in engineering." He broadly wave his arm across the bustling cave. "Joking aside though, Mr. Kroitzer. Is there a specific need for this prosthetic upgrade or is it just cosmetic for your amusement?"

"It would be more of a last resort weapon as it would probably destroy the power relays in the prosthetic, it would be used in emergencies like if I were to get captured or find that my sidearm isn't there on non functional" he explained.

"A last resort." Rojac repeated. "Well if I guess you're going to get use it then you better make it count, Lieutenant. It's your arm, Lieutenant, you can do with it what you want. Make sure you check it in like any other weapon with security first." The Captain said. He wondered what hassles Lieutenant Mumacik would give the engineer on their next visit to UNITY.

"Aye sir, will do" he replied slightly surprised that he had the Captains permission.

"Anyways, your department checks out, Lieutenant." Rojac said. "Good work. If you have any questions you know where to find me."

[USS Chimera] || Unity || SD 240909.12 Joint Log, Cmdr Summers & LtCmdr T'Vel

[ Civilian Hospital - SB Unity ]

Mr. Robertson, an otherwise healthy man of almost seventy years, had suffered a heart attack while doing his usual daily workout regime. He had not managed more than half a mile of his usual three mile medium paced run when he had toppled off his treadmill, gasping for breath and calling for his wife to get a doctor. He had ended up in the cardiac section of the civilian hospital after a worrying reaction to the standard drug Inaprovaline but was now on the road to recovery after the medication was switched to Chlormydride.

He and Rangi had had a lengthy discussion over the merits of exercise and what could be termed excessive as opposed to beneficial and had arrived at a happy meduim when her combadge 'chirruped'.

"Dr T'Vel to Dr Summers," came the call from Rangi's Vulcan deputy.

"Summers." Rangi replied turning away from her patient with a small smile and stepping a few paces to have more privacy.

"I have the results of the quantum biofrequency study, Commander. May we meet in your office?" T'Vel suggested.

"Yes ofcourse. Give me...fifteen minutes?"

[ CMO Office, Main infirmary ]

"Sorry, I was delayed." Rangi said as she approached T'Vel waiting patiently outside the COMs office. "Come in please. " she added leading the way inside.

"Thank you," T'Vel said as she stepped inside.

"Take a seat." Rangi said as she rounded her desk and sat down herself. " So...what did you have?" she asked.

As she sat down in front of Rangi's desk, T'Vel handed her the padd containing the results of the tests performed on the two Harker bodies.

"The test has confirmed what we expected. The body found on Padassa matches the quantum biofrequency of our universe; the other one does not, and therefor it's logical to assume that he came from an alternate universe. The variance has somewhat degraded, suggesting that he has been here for a number of years."

Rangi skimmed through the report at T'Vel was speaking but looked up at her with a slight frown. "This needs further investigation then." she said and leaned back in her chair tapping her fingers on the desk edge. "The MRI section ...it's on Andoria....we'll send the bodies there."

"Agreed," T'Vel replied. "I will make arrangements for their transport immediately."

The Medical Research Investigation unit was based on one of the cold and generally inhospitable islands in the northern hemisphere of Andoria. Rangi knew the doctor in charge of it, Lance Heaton. She nodded agreement. "I'll add my comments to your report and forward it to Dr Heaton as well as Admiral Guzman. Thank you for working so quickly on this." she added.

"Of course," T'Vel said.

Dr. Quiocho was handed her new task by the Chief Medical Officer.  She was asked to do a routine check on the Biospectral Scanner; which should be easy enough.  It hasn't been used in awhile so there shouldn't be any malfunctioning errors, but it still should have a once over and probably a proper cleaning.  Nanee didn't see any frustrations carrying this assignment out since it would give her something to do besides pushing padds and re-doing the inventory on the medical supply quarter.

Nanee picked up a few necessary padds from her office, an engineering tricorder for the equipment, and cleaning tools from their designated locations in Sickbay.  Within a few minutes she was off to work.

First thing was first to get an over all scan; make sure the device was still full operational.  The Biospectral is used neurological rehabilitation and what-not.  You wouldn't want it to cut out on you during an operation because back home they would say, "You'd be getting coloring books and crayons for Christmas the rest of your life".

Nanee made sure to be very delicate with the care that she provided.  The scans seemed to check out, so Nanee decided to do a thorough job of cleaning the device; making sure to get in between any crevices that were naked to the eye just looking at the device.

When everything was all said and done, Nanee would make sure that a report would reach Dr. Fisher's desk.  Nanee was headed back to her office to do just that and see if anything else had come in.  If there was nothing further for her to do for awhile, she figured she would go see what's good at the Mess Hall.  After all, she would need to satisfy the grumbling in her stomach.

[USS Chimera] 240909.11 |beta| Duty log; Cadet Elbrum

-= USS Chimera =-

Andrus had already lost count the time he checked his gear. He was pretty nervous. Simulations where ok to train with but it was nothing like the real deal. it got pretty close but the most important thing was left out, you did not die in training.

He was wearing his combat fatigues, load bearing vest over protective gear. He had his rifle in hand, a sidearm to his thigh and a few extra clips. He had a combat tricorder on the front side of his vest and explosives in a small back pack.

His will was filled out, he had spoken to his parents not so long ago, he had said he loved them. Damn last time he spoke with them was when he was at the academy. Was it that long already? No, merely two days. He finally nodded to himself. He was ready. No loose ends.

Major Cortez finally decided to show up and they all stood at attention. Cadet Elbrum falling in last, a mere second behind. They where let off the attention and Cortez lay a hand on his shoulder, glaring at him. ''Ok. can't we go and come back already?'' Andrus said to himself.  ''I hate paperwork.'' He heard the major say. That got a frown from andrus. ''What is he talking about? shit did I miss something?'' He mentally quarrelled with himself. ''I better start paying attention.'' Andrus looked to the other guy from the team, they nodded, so he did the same, even daring to lift a thumbs up to the major.

When the SSF team walked in. Andrus stood back, letting the two bosses dish it out. Was peace even an option for the near future? He was rather proud when his time consuming equipment check was mentioned. Knowing he had managed to get under the skin of professionals so easily, at least their Officer in charge, he wondered how easily they would break.

He did not know how to react when they did their radio checks. His team had done so, at the armoury before coming to the transporter room, so they could replace units if need be.

''Balls?'' Barnes told him. Andrus snapped to attention, jokingly. ''Check!'' He whispered tapping on his crotch, which made a hard noise.

''Is that a protective cup, Cadet?'' Barnes asked him, somewhat incredulous, barely holding a chuckle.

Jones walked to them. ''You don't need that. When they shoot at you, they usually don't miss, even less get at arms length.''

Andrus shrugged and nodded. ''I did not know, sorry.'' They patted him on the shoulder and chuckled together.

Cortez motioned for Elbrum, Barnes and Jones to step on the transporter pad. They all did and with the stomach in his throat, Andrus teleported to the USS eagle...

Cortez pulled his glove on tight and holstered his pistol by his hip.  Strapping the rifle over his shoulder he scratched his face and marched down the hallway to the transporter room.  Elbrum, Jones, Barnes and Rivers were already waiting in the room.  He came to a stop a few feet in front of the team and they jumped to attention and saluted.  Richard eyed them all and saluted back, "At ease", he said ending his glare on Cadet Elbrum.  Richard understood the look on the mans face all too well, he'd seen it many times before, it had even been on his face once a long time ago, a mixture of nervousness and excitement and a longing to just get the damn mission started.  He nodded his head and placed his hand on Elbrum's shoulder, he smiled, then looked at the rest of the team, "Don't any of you die on me", he said stepping back, "I hate paperwork".

Twisting around he looked towards the person operating the transporter controls, "Where is Major Shao and her team", he asked.

"Sir, they are en route", the man answered plainly.

Dare stalked in just seconds later, followed by her team.  There was only 4 of them, but they'd be enough.  She'd brought along a systems specialist, tactician and weapons expert with her.  "Pardon the delay, Major," she said, looking at Cortez.  "We had to change our plans at the last moment, seems someone took their sweet time clearing our weaponry and equipment."

She held eye contact with him for a few moments more before turning back to her team.  "Final comm check."  She hooked an earpiece onto her slightly pointed ear.  "Lead, check."

"Mendez, check," her system specialist said, hooking his earpiece over his ear.

"Shura, check," the tactican said, activating her earpiece.

"Kr'Tarn, check," her gruff Klingon weapons expert growled.

Dare turned back to Cortez.  "My team is prepared."

Richard held back a laugh as Shao's team uniformly checked their mic's, they seemed like robots, he'd accuse them of trying to show off if he didn't know any better, "I must apologize for that", he began, "staff was tight so I could only spare one person to check your gear. I do appreciate the cooperation though", he added with a smirk.

The seeming neutrality her team showed exactly how prepared they were. They didn't need to chatter incessantly all the time, like most of the 'non-combatants'.  Mendez, Shura and Kr'Tarn shared a glance.  They'd seen their commander's posture stiffen, but all three knew she wouldn't let the other man get to her too much.

"Your staffing issues aren't my problem, Major Cortez.  Considering what is at stake here, I would have thought you'd tried a bit harder to do your job," she finally said, in a very conversational tone.  "Regardless, the problem of equipment was sorted."  She offered him a completely fake smile.

Cortez returned the smile feeling that he was getting to her"So how much time will you need on the station", Richard asked. "We'll be using timed demolitions, so its imperative that you keep to schedule and if you do get held up you let us know".  Cortez wasn't telling her anything she didn't already know, but he had made it his priority since their first meeting to attempt to get under her skin as often as possible.

Dare glanced at her team, then went over the plan in her mind before answering.  "I'd say anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour, dependant upon how many Romulan's we get to play with while we work."  She cricked her neck and started to recheck her gear, clearing her mind of any harmful thoughts towards the other Major.  She knew exactly what he was trying to do and she wasn't about to let him succeed.

"That long huh", Cortez questioned sarcastically, "Well maybe we'll wait up for you", he added as he stepped towards the transporter pads and motioned for his team to do the same.  "We'll head on over to the Eagle now and make sure its safe you guys", he smirked as he and the rest of his team de-materialized.

She watched Cortez and his team disappear, was silent for a few long minutes, then said something very obviously rude so quickly in Ka'Leigh that the universal translator couldn't pick it up.  When she was done, she pointed wordlessly at the transporter PADD.  Her team got onto it quickly.  Dare stepped up after them.  They *could* get it done quicker, if no-one wanted it done thoroughly.  No doubt Cortez was used to doing half-arsed jobs.  Oh well, maybe he'd caught get in the cross fire.  One could but hope.

Dare smirked as the blue transporter beam spun around them.

[USS Chimera] ||UNITY||SD240909.09 Personal Log - MCapt COps Jade Reese - "Going Stir Crazy"

=/\= Temporary Quarters, Starbase UNITY =/\=

After her appointments with Doctors Summers, Hastings and T'Vel she was glad that she now knows what is going on and having someone helping her find ways to deal with it. But the order to take it easy was becoming more difficult day by day there was only so many times that she could wander the promenade and read news reports or watch the news itself. But seeing how badly the headaches affected her she decided to follow the doctors orders and take it easy.

She decided to have another quiet morning in her temporary quarters on UNITY eating some breakfast while the news goes on in the background and while she works on her program for the AI for operations department. So far progress was slow between her headaches and other things that was going kinda put it on hold but seeing that she has some time now and decided to make some head way.

The idea behind the AI is to eliminate some of the adjustments to power flow, data compiling and other ship wide system checks that must be on every hour on the hour. She was hoping that this would eliminate all the time that operations personnel would spend on that and work on other projects to keeping an eye on things that are more important at the time. Deciding to call the AI "Red Queen" she started going through the power flow adjustments figuring out which ones were made the most in one shift.

Sipping her coffee she looked up at the news which was going over the war with the Romulans showing the casualties and what other parts of society that are being effected by this war. Jade just shook her head first the Dominon War and then this one but for some reason this felt much worse then the Dominon maybe it's because everyone was so used to the Romulans staying behind the neutral zone doing what ever they do and leaving the rest of the Beta and Alpha Quadrant Species alone.

She then went back to work realizing that she was going to need an engineer to help her with the programming part she could program automated diagnostics but AI and holograms were somewhat out of her scope. But she was interested in learning how to do it so if she had to do it again she could do it on her own. Looking at her chronometer she realized that she had another session with LtCmdr T'Vel in 2 hours deciding to get ready now so she could spend some more time working on the "Red Queen" AI.

[USS Chimera] SD 240909.08 || BETA || CO Log || Capt Rojac ||

[USS Chimera NCC 96899-C - Stellar Nursery]

The sleek battle cruiser dropped out of warp and drifted through space in sheer momentum. The saucer section slid through the thick multicolored nebular clouds, peeling luminous wisps and dispensing them into the void of space. The eerie shapes and lights caused by the volatile actions of the newborn stars in the region reflected off the slick armor plating adorning the hull. The Chimera had arrived at her destination, and the stalking of the prey was set to begin.

"Adjusting sensors to the interference." Lieutenant Carpenter called from science. "Adjusting the viewscreen for the ultraviolet spectrum."

Captain Cropa Rojac sat in the center chair with one hand stroking the hairs on his chin. The viewscreen adjusted to display a myriad of colors translatedinto the visual spectrum. "Helm, what's our position?"

Lieutenant Dior turned around at her station. "That sensor interference has effected our navigational sensors as well." She turned back around and ran a scan. "We're off our mark by two clicks. I can get us at intel's coordinates in five minutes at full impulse."

"I'm increasing power to sensors, Captain." Lieutenant Vaughn reported from Operations.

"Thank you, Mr. Vaughn." The Captain said. "Lieutenant Carpenter, see if you can penetrate deeper with the long range scans."

"Aye sir." Mercedes replied. "Give me one minute to calibrate."

"Whats our tactical status, Mr. Levison?" Rojac asked.

"Shields are up. The stealth plating in nominal with no disruptions in coverage." The Commander replied. "Phaser banks are charged, tactical deflector is online and all torpedo launchers are armed with Quantum charges."

Rojac nodded. "Good. Make preparations to lead in with the deflector's Shield Disruptor Pulse and a torpedo volley. Let's take out as many warbirds as we can."

"Aye sir."

"Captain." Came a voice from science. "I'm picking up a several large duranium masses off the starboard bow. Bearing three-two-nine, mark three-two-two."

"Lieutenant Dior, intercept course at full impulse." Rojac ordered, unconsciously gripping his armrests. Athena must have sensed the tension rising within him as she cast a worried glance his way. He smirked in reply and whispered, "Buckle up."

"Course set, Captain." Dior called back. "ETA in one minute and seventeen seconds."

"Major." Rojac started.

"On it, sir." Walters cut him off. The Erassian Major pressed the ship-wide comm. "All hands, this is the bridge, report to battle stations. I repeat, report to battle stations." He read over the streaming departmental status reports as hey came in. "All decks are secured, sir."

"Forty-five seconds, sir." Dior called back.

"Mr. Levison," Rojac called rather calmly amidst the building tension beneath the of flashing red lights, "Anything on tactical scanners?"

"Sensors are still blurry, but I'm picking up seven singularity drives - make that eight. Three battle-cruisers, three scouts, and two cruisers." Levison reported. "Deflector and torpedo launchers are on stand-by."

"I'm detecting a clearing ahead!" Lieutenant Carpenter called out from science.

The mighty Chimera dove out off the clouds into an open void a million kilometers wide. She dove past a network of sattelites that were projecting a grid that kept the nebulous clouds at bay. Her sleek black armor kept the Chimera of enemy sensors as she quickly surveyed the scene in the artificial opening. In the center of the void sat a large structure unlike any starbase Rojac had ever seen. It consisted of a large circular ring with two large power generator structures on it's horizontal plane. In around the ring there appeared to be an array of emitters that lined the circumference. It's design characteristic were strikingly different from those of the Romulan ships patrolling it - it was unlike any design the young Captain had ever seen.

"What the hell is that?" Rojac asked.

"I don't know," Major Walters said from his right, "but I don't think it's a supply base."

"Science, get me a scan of that facility. Tactical, target those two scouts off our port bow." Rojac said. Their discovery was unexpected, but it didn't change the mission. Beta group still needed to destroy that 'supply base' or whatever the hell it was. And the Chimer needed to create as much of a distraction as she could to give the Away Teams their best possible chance.

"Target's acquired." Levison called.

"We are in attack range, Captain." Dior confirmed.

"Fire!" Rojac ordered.

"Sir, they are en route", the man answered plainly.

He turned back around and looked at his team.  "OK here's the plan,  we'll beam onto the Eagle which will then quietly insert us into the Rommie station, the CHimera should be able to create just enough of a diversion so that we wont be seen.  Once on the station, we'll make a quick assessment and determine the best route to the stations warp core, we'll proceed quickly and plant the explosives, we then extract and blow the station from a safe distance".  He paused, "Any questions?', nobody said anything.

The silence was interrupted by Major Shao and her team entering the transporter room.

Cortez nodded and ordered his men onto the transporter pads,  "We'll go first and make sure the Eagle is safe" he said towards Major Shao as he stepped onto the pad himself.

A second later he re-materialized along with the rest of his team onto the Eagle.  They moved out of the room and into the staging area where they all took a seat and patiently waited.  Minutes later after Major Shao's team beamed aboard, a communication from the Chimera came through.

+Cortez here.+, the Major responded.

"What's your status, Major?" The Captain asked.

+We're ready to go captain.+

"Good hunting, Major." Rojac said. "The brighter the blast, the better the show. Chimera out."

Cortez grinned at the statement and sighed deeply.  He leaned back and fell into the bench behind him.  The few hours or minutes prior to the beginning of a mission were always the worst.  He wondered how much longer it would be.

"Soon Enough", he mumbled to himself.

[Bridge - Deck One - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C]

Shortly after the Captain's ship-wide announcement the senior bridge officers began to arrive at their stations. Rojac remained seated in his chair, focused on the padd in his hand detailing the latest data from Ra-Zerphimi's Science Department. The Efrosian put forward a request to be stationed at the sensor pallets, so that he may try and get the highest resolution available through to the bridge. Rojac approved the request, and instead the Deputy Chief of Science, Mercedes Carpenter, was filling the station.

Major Scott Walters strode onto the Bridge noting all the people present "Full house." He muttered under his breath as he went.  He maintained his poker face as he approached the CO.  Even now it seemed they were both trying to get the measure of each other.  "Captain" He said with a perfunctory nod.

"Major." Rojac nodded. "What do you have for me?"

Scott held out a padd. "Real time information on every department and sub-department's readiness status.  Stealth Resonance Armour has been adjusted to within acceptable parameters, Shields, Weapons and Engines all within tolerances.  We're good to go Captain."

"Good." Rojac nodded, briefly reviewing the data on the padd his new XO had handed him. "Then let's get this ball rolling then, shall we?" He slid the slim device into a pocket to the let of his command chair, and swiveled toward the Operations Console where Mr. Vaughn had already arrived. "Lieutenant Vaughn, has the Eagle acknowledged receipt of the away teams?"

Ian opened up the list of communiques that had come in the last hour or so finding the one he was looking for he took a quick few seconds to read it, "yes sir they've all away teams and are ready to get underway." Ian said as he looked up.

"Patch me through to Major Cortez." Rojac ordered.

+Cortez here.+, he responded.

"What's your status, Major?" The Captain asked.

+We're ready to go captain.+

"Good hunting, Major." Rojac said. "The brighter the blast, the better the show. Chimera out."

The Captain turned toward Commander Levison. "It's time to engage that stealth plating, Commander."

"Understood Captain," Mike nodded, all business now, his fingers tapping a series of rapid commands into his console. Below decks Lieutenant Commander Kilbain was confirming the request in the Tactical Centre and activating the newest addition to the Chimera's systems, before sending a response to the Bridge Tactical Console. "Stealth plating active," Levison stated simply, his eyes straying towards the readouts that monitored the system to ensure that it remained that way.

Scott wisely kept his thoughts to himself.  {We'll find out soon enough if the Stealth Resonance Armour doesn't work...right about when people start shooting at us.}

Rojac leaned over toward the raven-haired counselor at his left in the mission specialist chair. "How are we doing, Commander? Are we ready to follow through with this?"

"I don't think follow through is a question... just how quickly completion will come," Athena answered only sensing that many we're more than ready and glad to have things moving.

The Captain chuckled. "Confidence. I like it, Athena." He turned to Walters. "Take us to Red Alert and set course, Major."

"Acknowledged Captain."  Scott replied before saying in a loud commanding voice "Red Alert, all hands man Battle Stations.  Helm set course for target area One Zero Seven point Five Degrees Galactic, elevation Three point Six Degrees."

"Course set, sir." Dior called back from the helm. "Coordinates synced with science. Warp drive online. Trail Suppressors engaged." She turned back, her ponytail bobbed with the quick movement. "We're locked and loaded, Captain." Rojac nodded.

"Coordinates confirmed, Captain," Mercedes echoed from the science station.

"Give the Eagle the go ahead." He said toward Operations. Their flight path was to take a more round-about approach to the suspected target area, making them arrive shortly after the Chimera dropped guns blazing into the front lines. Trzetrzelewska's Rapier would be following the Chimera - just outside of sensor range.

"Eagle this is the Chimera you've the go ahead to proceed." With that done Ian went back to working on diverting power to sensors and some of the flight operations seeing that they might need them and if they didn't and another department needed it the power could be easily transferred.

"This is it." Rojac said aloud, to no one in particular. "This is what we've trained for. We're taking the attack to the Romulans, and we're not waiting in defense. This is what we do. We are Starfleet Special Forces."

"This is not going to be easy. But then again, we do enjoy a good challenge. Don't we?" He smirked toward Commander Wellington. "Lieutenant Dior. Warp eight. Engage." {If not the challenge then Definitely a good fight and a smooth whiskey} Athena thought.

</\> USS Chimera NCC 96899-C - Deck 12 Tactical Centre </\>

It was a bad morning for Commander Mike Levison. His sonic shower had
decided that it would amplify to a far higher frequency than normal,
shattering the mirrors in his quarters before he could deactivate it.
Then his replicator had decided to release a gelatinous compound all
over the floor instead of the coffee he had requested and then to add
insult to injury, the doors to his quarters had decided to only open
halfway. If there were higher beings in the universe, they were
obviously having a great deal of fun at his expense. The cause of
these malfunctions eluded him and he had no desire to investigate
them, late as he was to the Tac Centre. Perhaps the worst of his
troubles that morning was yet to come; inspection by the CO.

Within the bustling chamber, Lieutenant Commander Kilbain was
overseeing the drilling of the department once more and seemed to be
enjoying it immensely. Mike had only had a chance to touch base with
his old friend a couple of times since his arrival aboard but intended
to do so more thoroughly at their earliest opportunity. All that
really mattered though, was the status of his men and women and
whether or not they had improved since the Commander had come on
board. To Mike's mind, they had, thanks in part to a small amount of
coercion and a few shift-swaps between various members of the staff.

"Cee-Tac on deck!" one of the more eager Ensigns called from off to
his right as Levison walked in, drawing a smirk from the veteran
Commander.

"As you were for goodness sake," Mike snorted, waving away the few
that had come to attention, "Mr Kilbain, give me some good news this
morning, please."

"Aye sir, I can do so," Kilbain smiled as well, amused by the staff
around him, "We might... I say 'might'... have a half decent group of
men and women here. Whether or not the Captain will agree is another
matter, but we'll have to wait and see on that. Stealth plating is
also functioning properly from my end, although we've yet to get in
touch with Ops this morning to make sure they concur."

"Excellent work, Greg, nice to have something good to report this
morning," Mike nodded, picking up a status report padd and waiting for
the Captain's arrival.

Rojac didn't keep him waiting long. The doors to the Tactical Centre
slid quickly aside, and the bearded CO walked through. The same eager
ensign announced his arrival.

"Captain on deck!" The room snapped to attention.

"As you were." Rojac said, walking into the room with his hands behind
his back. He found Levison and Kilbain and walked in their direction.
"Gentlemen, how are your mornings going?"

"Very well, thank you sir," Kilbain nodded with a smile before Mike
could speak himself, curtailing the diatribe Levison would normally
have launched into. The full Commander simply nodded and asked in
response: "And yourself, sir?"

"I am operating within acceptable parameters." Rojac said with a wide
smirk. "Do you have a copy of the departmental reports?" Rojac asked.

"Aye sir, here you go," Levison nodded, handing the padd he had been
perusing himself to his new Captain and returning the other man's
smile.

Rojac took the padd and reviewed the findings. "These times are
looking much better." Rojac said, tracing a finger down the list. "You
two have done well with the little time you have had. These men aren't
going to be too worn out to fight, are they?"

"If they get caught napping on the job, I'll be sure to get in touch
with Engineering and give them a few more candidates for plasma
exhaust scrubbing," Mike grinned cheerfully, glancing around at the
withering glares and groans from some of the crew in the room,
"Kidding aside, we'll be ready sir. Just give the word and we'll get
it done."

"I'm sure you will, Commander." Rojac replied. Moments later he
produced a padd and handed it to the CTac. "Commander, these are the
latest long-range sensor scans from Science. They seem to think that
the sensor disturbance we're encountering isn't fully caused by the
natural occurrences in the region, but perhaps via more anomalous
factors or through an artificial source." He looked over to Kilbain.
"You are both rather bright gentlemen, and you have experience dealing
with sensor masking technology. Review the data and tell me what you
think. If we're going to be heading into a death trap, I want to know
before we're neck deep."

"Aye sir, we'll see what we can do... I just hope we can come up with
something to give us a heads-up," Levison nodded, taking the padd and
passing it across to his friend and colleague. "Can we do anything
else for you?"

"That will be all gentlemen." Rojac said, just have that analysis on my desk
by gametime."

Chimerans!

It seems that RL has claimed much of our collective time this week. I know that to be the case in my life. I've been packing and moving to a new apartment all week, and I'm still not done. As such, my connection to the internet via a computer will not be as constant. Please be patient with me while I transition.
Still, after this report, I'm sending a bridge joint log from the Chimera, taking her into Red Alert and throwing her into the action. CHimerans, be ready to log your reactions.

Other groups, your team leaders will know what to do.
Team leaders are...
Alpha - Bren/Frankie
Beta - Rojac
Charlie - Ixus
UNITY - Rangi/Muma
Delta - Rik

If you have any questions, you know who to ask.
Thanks,

=/\= MISSION SUMMARY/QUOTES OF THE WEEK =/\=
==============================================
-------------------------
- Summaries (Rangi)
-------------------------

Alpha - Bren

On Norris VIII-A, 2Lt Winters' team engage their enemy on the icy moon to secure the Romulans communications outpost. Although they take some casualties, they manage to enter the complex and regroup before proceeding.

On the Quasar, Captain Ohmsford continues his investigation but finds it difficult when he is confronted with Liev's remains.

Beta - Rojac

Dr. Quoicho meet with the new CMO and gets her orders. Mercedes investigates the cause of the sensor interference in Stellar Cartography. Major Xerxes is visited by an Assistant Operations Officer to make sure she has all of her operational needs met. Athena evaluates the new XO. Lt Vaughn drops in on Mercedes Carpenter and pledges to send more power to sensors.

Charlie - Ixus

Chisulo orders LCorp Dawson on a secret mission to extract the 17
prisoners of war but with the Erassians raining Nuclear Armageddon
down on the base it won't be easy.  In theory the first strike has
been sent but that log is still a work in progress and should be out
shortly as a backlog...Sorry.

Delta - Rik

none.

Unity - Rangi

Nym and Lt Mumacik arrived in the infirmary where Nym was
able to take Mumaciks injuries to herself unbeknown to the
medical staff or security. Mumacik, felt slightly better but
was delerious for a while before eventually falling asleep.

Rangi and Lucy discussed his treatment then went to the CMOs
office where Rangi asked Lucy to initiate a Blood Screening
programme to be passed off as a routine test, that could
indicate possible Romulan intruders.

Later, Rangi met T'Vel and discussed the mystery surrounding
the bodies of Harker and Samantha Palmer. A specialised scan
was to be carried out which would determine if one of the
bodies originated in an alternate universe.

Jade had a meeting with T'Vel who suggested that a mindmeld
would help her learn to cope with her increased telepathic
abilities. Progress was made.

- Logging Guidelines
-------------------------
Logging:
The weekly logging deadline is at Midnight (12:00AM/00:00) GMT/UTC (19:00 EST); all logs received after the deadline will be counted for the following week. If you are pressed for time and would like a log to count for the previous week, but it is sent after the deadline, please send an email to the command team when you send the log so that we can make the corrections.
Please remember that all MAJOR plot changes need to be cleared with the command staff before a log goes through! You can do this by sending the command staff (
chimera-command@ucip.org ) a log labeled with "Draft" tagged to the subject line. We'll typically let you know if it's approved within 24 to 48 hours, or tell you what might need to be modified before it's sent to the listserv.
When using other characters in your logs, please keep in mind that person's characteristics. Character information can be found on the UCIP website or the USS Chimera website (under CREW - just click on the Star Trek symbol next to the character's name). If you're still unsure how to interact with a character, then privately mail the person
involved, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help.
Conversely, if you feel that your character is being portrayed incorrectly by someone please contact them to try to work out an agreeable solution. Just keep in mind when logging to treat other characters the way you'd like them to treat you - with the respect due to any member of Starfleet who is a specialist in their field.
If you think your log may be going out of bounds, then please ask! If you are having problems finding things to write about or would just like some help with your log, please contact your department head or the command team. Remember, you don't always have to log about things relating to the main plot - logs that develop your character's
personality are encouraged! We're eager to help if you're having trouble; just email the command team (
chimera-command@ucip.org).
