[USS Chimera] SD: 240906.13 Duty Log, Lt JG Gustav Kroitzer Act. CEO

=/\= USS Magellan – Engineering =/\=

Immediately after being transported off the rapier Gustav made his way
to main engineering to offer his services.

After consulting the computer on the quickest route to engineering
Kroitzer arrived, walking through the door he almost walked into a
Commander.

Taking the opportunity Gustav saluted and asked "Excuse me Ma'am,
could you point me in the direction of the CEO"

"You're looking at her Lt" she said stressed

"Sorry Ma'am I didn't know, I'm the CEO from the Chimera anything I
can do to help?"

The Commander looked at the young engineer in front of her "bit young
to be a CEO aren't you?"

Wondering what age had to do with engineering ability Gustav asked
with a raised eyebrow "Ma'am?"

"You want to prove yourself to me then I have a job for Lt" she said
with a haughty look in her eyes "I need you to go out onto the hull
and to the very top of the saucer section, there was an impact there
that has shorted the circuitry and severely weakened the shields in
that area"

"Aye Ma'am" was all Gustav said as a reply heading for the door.

Gustav made his way to the nearest airlock by the damaged section of
the saucer section and put on an environmental suit {Mimi would kill
me if she found out that I was doing this}

Exiting the airlock Gustav was greeted with one of the most
spectacular and scary sights of his life, flashes of green and orange
from the weapons arrays of the Magellan and the warbirds that were
attacking her and the stars flying past as the Magellan tried to evade
and attack the Romulans.

The movement of the ship and the grav boots made it hard work getting
to the damaged section quickly and more than once Gustav had a close
encounter with a ships disrupter fire but after about ten minutes he
made it to where he was to work.

Reaching into the engineering kit that he brought with him Kroitzer
pulled out a plasma cutter and started to cut away the damaged hull
plating, after he had the circuitry exposed he started the repair job.

The damaged circuits were a mess, not sure where to start he just went
ahead and started to pull out all the burnt out chips, boards and gel
packs.

After removing the damaged parts he started to replace what he could
but he still had to bypass a lot of the normal pathways but it didn't
take to long to complete the work, about 30 minutes in total.

As he was packing up and getting ready to leave he saw 3 large, black
angular ships dropped out of warp very close to the Magellan close
enough to see the names of the ships, the largest being the EAS
Oceanus, the EAS Theia and the EAS Coeus being smaller but still quite
large.

Gustav watched as they passed then headed to the airlock {thank Christ
that's over… and who the hell was at the helm of those ships, mental
patients}.

<<OOC … just a short log covering my RL absence.>>

===== Sickbay, USS Qashqai ======

Shane opened his eyes and looked at the ceiling. He felt
well … very well to be honest. All seemed to be fine and
there were no worries on his mind. The ceiling looked a bit
unfamiliar, but why bother?

"Commodore, can you hear me?" sounded a voice near by.

{Sure thing} Shane said to himself, but found it rather
difficult to open his mouth and actually say it.

"Commodore Guzman, its Lieutenant Lendra, can you hear
me?" said the same voice again.

With some effort, Shane managed to say: "Yes, sure I can
hear you, why?" His voice sounded somewhat croaky, like an
old thirsty frog.

"Do you know what happened?" Lendra asked.

Shane looked sideways at the person next to him. Lendra was
a middle aged woman, clad in teal collared uniform, not very
familiar to him. Shane remembered that he chose her for the
Qashqai crew cause her xeno-biology background … as
addition to her 10 years of medical experience in SSF. With
this thought, Shane suddenly remembered where he was …
this was Qashqai's sickbay … and his was on a mission to
save Rangi, Martin and Varis.

"What the hell!?" Shane cursed and sat up on the biobed.
There were two more persons present, both clad in marine
green, wearing medical badges. Shane's guess was that both
belonged to the two ODA units on board. The door to the
small sickbay was guarded by two tall security man, both
armed with rifles.

"What happened?" he asked – replying the previous
answer as well.

"You were poisoned, sir" Lendra answered. "24 hours
ago you just dropped unconscious on the bridge. Since that
you are in the sickbay and only four hours ago we were able
to find out what kind of poison you were exposed to. It's
a three reagent polymorphic poison, each reagent is harmless
alone, but once all three are present, they morph into a
highly toxic agent, deadly in most cases. You were lucky to
be here … a fast treatment was essential. Would this
happen somewhere else … where you would not receive
medical attention immediately … you would be dead now"

Shane sighed and closed his eyes. "Thank you" he said
finally, "I feel lucky today. Were you able to determine
the origin of the poison?" he asked. Lendra nodded:
"Yes, it's romulan."

"Damn" Shane muttered. It looked like that Tal'shiar
had the situation firm in hand that he was a fool believing
he could escape their wrath. Thinking about his family,
Shane asked again: "Did we receive any messages when I was
… sick?"

Lendra shrugged: "I do not know, sir. All I know is that
there is a priority message from UNITY waiting for you.
Commander Darel, who took command on the ship since you were
here inquired about your status several hours back. He
mentioned the message"

Nodding, Shane asked: "Lieutenant, is there any medical
reason I should not assume command?"

Lendra shook her head slowly: "Hmm … no, Sir. I
recommend at least 12 hours of rest for you …"

He sentence stayed unfinished as Shane already left the room

[Bridge - Deck 1 - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C]

"Standard orbit, Captain." Dior reported in from the helm and navigation station.

"Beginning sensor sweep." Ra-Zerphimi reported in. "It appears that the antiproton levels have dropped drastically, though there is still interference from the blizzard conditions on the surface."

"Reese," Rojac  looked over to his Chief Operations officer, "can you give science any more power?"

Tapping away at her console trying to find some more power for scanners the problem is a lot of the power were going to shields and weapons. Seeing that they were out of danger for the time being she decided to take some power away from the weapons and reroute it to the scanners hopefully that would be enough for the science officer to get her readings.

"Captain, 1Lt Fosters is hailing us from the second freighter sir." Montesque, the Bajoran Communications officer called. "I have audio."

"Patch him through, Lieutenant." Rojac ordered. When Montesque nodded the Captain addressed the marine. "Lieutenant Fosters, this is Captain Rojac. What is your situation?"

"Sir, we've got warheads in storage containers in the main cargo bay.  Judging by the storage conditions of refrigeration and negative air pressure, I'd say it's highly likely we're dealing with bio weapons here Sir.  That's not all though Sir.  We found a young human girl wandering around in the cargo bay probably around six years old.  Based on her appearance and lifesigns its probably a safe bet that she's been used as a test subject for a bio-weapon, probably viral in origin.  Since finding her, my team's found another six human hostages in a sealed storage locker all showing similar symptoms.  Due to our contact with this girl I recommend this ship be treated as being contaminated with a level four biohazard, that means high level quarantine for everybody aboard including myself and my team."  Fosters gave the report as best he could.

"Level four." Bren muttered. "Captain." Was all he had to say.

Rojac sprung to action, tapping his combadge. "Bridge to Dr. Quoicho. Set up cargo bay three for emergency quarantine. We have biogenic weapons on the freighters."

+Aye, sir.+ Came the quick reply.

Rojac was slightly worried. Dr. Rice, the acting CMO, was aboard the Rapier tending to her badly injured crew, leaving the young Dr. Nanee Quoicho to prep Cargo Bay three. Of course, she had the entire medical staff of the Chimera at her disposal, but that could still be a lot of stress for a young officer.

Commander Ohmsord looked up from his console. "Commander Typhon reports that he has everything under control planet-side, Rojac. Its up to us to rendezvous with the freighters."

"Can the Prometheus call in reinforcements?" Rojac asked.

"Possibly." Bren replied. "We are in Erassian space."

"Mr. Montesque, Hail the Prometheus." Rojac ordered. "Dior, intercept Freighter two."

"Aye sir." Came their simultaneous replies.

Hearing that they might have some biological weapons coming aboard and he was setting up a prep area and treatment rooms Jade opened a COMM link to the Quartermaster, "Sgt I need you and a couple of teams in Cargo Bay 3 to help prepare decontam and treatment wounds possible biological weapons coming in." Jade said.

"Copy that ma'am." Drake said standing up and walking out of her small office and shouting people over to get two teams ready one team would go ahead and head up to Cargo Bay 3 and help the medical teams get their things set-up while Drake and the other team would fellow up with their equipment and start getting their teams set-up.

"Sir I have two teams from the quartermasters office heading to Cargo Bay 3 to give some help to the medical teams." Jade said to the CO.

"Excellent." Rojac said. "Thank you , Captain."

"Captain, Prometheus is responding." Montesque called.

"On screen."

"Prometheus here, how can we assist Captain Rojac?"  Colonel Hendricks answered the hail, pointedly not refering to the supposed mission commander, Commander Ohmsford.  "If it's a progress report you want then your in luck.  Our Special forces teams have just reported a clean sweep on the base.  Fifteen Breen Command Staff captured for your removal any time you are ready including as Captain Jankowski said 'One weird ass looking alien' and with the visual feeds I'm guesssing similar to what your guys extracted from Narendra before the Hyperion fried it."

"You have excellent soldiers, Colonel." Rojac said. "If you haven't done so already, we recommend you put the alien in a stasis chamber as soon as possible. They are highly dangerous."

"Meanwhile, our Security teams have detected biological weapons on the fleeing freighters. We are moving to intercept. There are four troop transports just inside the gravity well - if you get bored. I'm sure Commander Typhon can keep an eye on the base you emptied."

[USS Chimera] SD: 240906.13 ||Canna III Assault Log Part Two||

----------
Start Log
----------

***Breen Base, Canna III***

The two Orbital Drop Pods thundered through the atmosphere
with the outer hull blazing white-hot.  Like meteorites they
plummeted in an inexorable freefall towards the ground until
at the very last moment the reverse thrusters kicked in slowing
the ODPs just enough as to not liquidise their human cargo.

The two pods slammed into the ground releasing a shockwave
of ice and steam and within fifteen seconds the commandos
inside were out of their harnesses and deploying out of the
pods.  Moving swiftly over uneven ground towards the base
they fanned out.  When they found a entrance doorway to
the main building they placed a device on the metal plate.

The device drew out all the heat energy in the door bringing
it's temperature down to almost absolute zero at which point
the commandos moved back a few paces as a small explosive
charge in the device detonated shattering the metal door like
glass.  With a hand motion the commandos advanced up to the
door and the point man engaged his thermoptic camouflage and
entered the building.  The point man fired his silenced rifle
twice dispatching two Breen soldiers waiting in ambush.  He
released the camouflage just for a second and gave the hand
signal for the rest of the commandos to follow him in.

They advanced into the building taking out Breen soldiers as
and where they found them.  The unit split into groups to clear
the building quicker and cut off any escape routes for Breen
command personnel.

They quickly found the secondary command centre and
prepared to storm it.  Captain Jankowski leader of the Special
Forces Unit sprayed what looked like shaving foam in a large
square with a cross through it on the wall about three
metres away from the door.  He then placed a remote
detonator into the centre of the foam and motioned to the
others to back off to a safe distance as he did as well.

He pressed the trigger blowing a hole in the wall.  They were
charging as soon as they heard the explosion.  Jumping through
the hole he spotted his priority target, a weird looking alien
looking around dazedly.  When it spotted Jankowski running
towards it lifted its hand to unleash a wave of telepathic energy
but Jankowski was quicker bringing his rifle butt down onto the
alien's head with a resounding crack knocking it unconscious.

***Space Above Canna III***

Anya banked hard and grimaced as the high G force crushed
her body into the seat as she barely evaded disruptor fire from
the Scorpion II on her tail.  Just about every maneuver she tried
the enemy could match.  This was no mere rookie flying an
advanced fighter...both fighter and pilot were exceptional.  They
were facing an elite squadron just like themselves.

There was no option left to engage the enemy squadron, she
would have to use that strategy...  "Lancer One to Sun God"

"I read you Lancer One, what are your orders?" First Lieutenant
Narvel Tenoro replied.

"Authorisation Thunderbolt.  Use of Puppetmaster is approved.
Switch Datastream to Hive Mode and all missiles to space
suppression mode."  Anya shouted over the sound of a disruptor
blast hitting her shields.

"Puppetmaster isn't fully complete yet Captain..."

"Now is not the time to bloody argue Leftenant!"  Anya shouted.

"Aye Captain, initializing now."  Sun God cut off as Anya's screens
went black.  The same process was happening on all the other
fighters including the four Z-105 Shadows still on Chimera.  The
screens lit up with a loading bar building up to 100%.

Upon completion it lit up in the centre with a large image of the
Seal of the Erassian Alliance.  "Well now we're in the shit."  Anya
muttered.  She heard cries of puzzlement over the Squadron
Comm channel which she ignored.  The sidestick started moving in
ways she wasn't controling.  The targeting system went haywire
and launched all the remaining missiles which spread out
detonating in the direct path of other enemys.

The enemy were confused as the tables had sudenly been
turned on them.  Anya flipped her fighter backwards and linking her
pulse cannons and chainguns fired everything she had into her
pursuer.  The Scorpion II spun out of control and slammed into the
top of Anya's Lancer damaging it.

The Romulan Squadron broke off from the furball and jumped to
warp.  Her comm panel came to life fuzzily "Lancer Five to Lead.  Do
we pursue?" David typically was eager for the hunt.

"Negative Five.  Send me damage reports and RTB.  Sun God start
analysing the info on the Scorpion II's and forward it to my office.
Make no mistake people we're lucky to be alive and save the
questions till we get back I'll answer them then."  Anya listened
to the chorus of acknowledgements, cut off the comms channel.

She looked towards where the Prometheus was burning great trails
of light through the Romulan Troop Transports and sighed.  The
deployment of the Scorpion IIs onto the battlefield was a bad sign
of what lay ahead in the war.

[USS Chimera] SD24 0906.13 Personal Log: Lucy Fleming / Boaz Teal (Guest simmer)

rangi.summers@mojwap.sk wrote to chimera@ucip.org:

*** SB Unity ***

Boaz left his lunch with Miss Lucy curious about her. He was
tired, as he hadn't slept much on the trip here. "Computer,
quartermaster's office please." It gave him directions. He
arrived there and asked for a room.

"Sir, I don't see you on our expected guest list. Were you
scheduled to be here, sir?"

"No, I wasn't. I decided as a last minute thing and then
forgot to notify your commander. I'm just visiting here to
get a feel for the station and see what's here. I don't
need to see your commander unless he just demands it. If he
does I understand. I just need someplace to sleep."

The man input this information into the computer and waited.
"This is may take a moment." He soon had quarters assigned.

Boaz thought about Lucy as he headed to his room. Walking in
he saw the computer blinking that he had a message. 'Miss
Fleming sent me a note already?' he wondered. It was a
simple welcome message, nothing more. He went in and laid
down to sleep. Lucy's face slipped in and out of his dreams.
Nothing specific just her face floating through. She's the
head nurse. At one point he got up and sent a note to Miss
Fleming. "Miss Fleming, looking forward to our tour of the
station. Boaz."

***
*Main Infirmary. Staff lounge*

"I don't believe that at all..." Lucy said "....you're
making it up." She waa entering the staff lounge and looked
back over her shoulder, laughing at the man who followed
her.

"I do not lie." he said and grinned at her as she flopped
down onto one of the comfortable sofas. He strode past her
towards the replicator and without asking requested two
coffees, both black and sugar free. When he turned back,
Lucy had her eyes closed but she opened them and sat up from
the relaxed position she had adop ted as he drew near.

"Thankyou." she said reaching up to take one of the steaming
mugs. "You're welcome." Scott replied and took a seat for
himself opposite to hers.

"Mmmm...I needed that." she stated a few moments later,
having drunk some of the strong coffee and savoured its
taste.

"Busy night." Scott replied.

They sat mostly in companionable silence, enjoying their
drinks and the brief break in their shifts but the peace was
soon shattered by an insistent 'bleep' from the terminal set
in the unit nearest the door. Scott got to his feet, mug in
hand. " I'll get it." he said.

"If it's Harley tell him I'm not here!" Lucy said. " I can't
be doing with his endless questions at the moment." Scott
glanced back to her and saw she was curled onto the sofa and
showed no intention of moving.

He turned back to the terminal and pressed a couple of
buttons.

"Personal message" he said " For Miss Lucy Fleming." She
looked across at him in surprise. " Is it?" she asked and
swinging her feet to the floor, she stood up and walked
towards him.

He took her mug as she tapped the keys in turn to access the
message and though he did not read what it said, he saw her
pause and wondered at her expression. "Not bad news I hope?"
he said. She looked at him then quickly closed the screen.

"No..no it's not." she said shaking her head. "It's from
someone I met earlier. I'm going to act as a tour guide
tomorrow."

***

Boaz woke up from his dreams. Th ere were two things that
remained constant in them. The first he would probably never
get rid of, memories. Memories of battles he had been in
from the time he first joined the Bajoran resistance,
through the time he served in starfleet, up until he became
the comandant of the Bajoran military. The second was a much
more recent and pleasant memory, the face of one Lucy
Fleming. Her face seemed to have a calming effect on the bad
stuff of the military memories. 3 P.M. couldn't come soon
enough. "Computer, send one red rose to Lucy Fleming when
she awakens for the day. He spent his time studying the
layout plans of the station.

** Lucy Flemings Quarters*

"Coming !!Coming!!" Lucy called rather crossly as she headed
for the door. She was running late, having ignored the wake
up alarm and so had slept longer than she had intended. She
stumbled towards the door, one shoe on and the other half
off and opened it with a curt " Yes?" only to see a smiling
figure in front of her holding an exquisite red rose in his
hand. "Miss Fleming?" he enquired and when Lucy nodded he
offered the bloom. " This is for you." he said. "Oh." Lucy's
surprised showed. " Thank you" He bowed and walked away as
she closed the door. The scent was devine and she looked
with interest at the little gold card attached to the stem.
It said simply 'See ya soon. Boaz' Lucys expression was at
first puzzled and then pleasantly surprised. {Mmmm...} she
thought as she carried the rose into her bedroom.

**
Boaz glanced at his chronometer as he entered the little
restaurant. She should be here in a couple of minutes. He
found the table they had shared and ordered a mug of spring
tea and asked to have her drink delivered when she arrived.
He relaxed thinking as he waited for her to arri ve.

**
Lucy checked the chrono at the end of the promenade as she
passed it, pleased to see she was in fact now early for she
hated to be late. She was surprised though to see Boaz
already seated at the little table they had shared the day
before. He was watching passersby and didn't see her
approach until she stood almost next to him.

"Hello." she said in her quiet, soft voice. " I hope I
haven't kept you waiting long."

Boaz came to his feet and held her chair smiling at her.
"No, not long at all. In fact I think you're a couple of
minutes early. I was just enjoying watching the people
walking by. It's amazing what you can learn about people by
just watching them. How was your night? At work that is."

She sat down on the offered chair which he held for her in a
gallantly mannered way. She saw him make a signal to the
waiter before taking his own seat.

"Thank you for the rose.." she said "..it's beautiful."

The waiter delivered her a drink she always had. "For a
beautiful lady. I'm glad you liked it. Would you like lunch
before we start around the station? Or just another drink?"

"Just a drink will be fine thank you." Lucy replied and
glanced at him as the waiter appeared , ready primed, with
their glasses. Although she was flattered by the attention
of his compliments and flowers, she thought he seemed to be
moving very fast.

"The night was busy. " she said in answer to his question. "
If you're interested in it, I can show you the infirmary
later but is there any place you particularly want to see?"

"Not really. It's a new station and I just want to see what
there is that might be new. I can always use new ideas on
Bajor. We can go if you're ready." He waited for her
answer before he stood.

She set her glass back onto the table with the drink hardly
touched.
" Alright." she said pleasantly "..perhaps we can start at
the lower viewing gallery." and as he moved to hold her
chair when she stood, added " ..you can see the new shipyard
from there."

[USS Chimera] 240906.13 ||CANNA SYSTEM|| NPC log, Capt. Frederick Mayo

=Main Bridge=
=U.S.S. Magellan=
=Canna System=

"Evasive attack pattern Mayo two four," Captain Frederick Mayo calmly
said from his command chair as the Magellan continued to take a pounding.

"Aye, sir."

The majestic Sovereign-class starship glided through space in a dance of
sorts with the two D'deridex-class ships. The Magellan was not only trying
keep itself from being destroyed, but protecting the Rapier as well.

"Sir, the last of the crew if the Rapier have been beamed aboard."

"Good!" Mayo said, slamming a fist on his arm rest. "Now we can take the
fight to them. Focus everything we have on that second warbird.

"On it!"

A hail of fire that had been held back was unleashed on the warbird.

"Attack pattern Mayo four five!" Mayo ordered.

More weapons fire connected with the second warbird's shields as the
Magellan swiftly passed the sieged Romulan vessel, trying to draw both
warbirds away from the abandoned Rapier.

"Sir! The second warbird has suffered some structural damage and is
breaking off. The first warbird is pursuing."

"I'll be damn is that's going to happen," Mayo muttered, knowing that would
allow the second warbird to sit back and fire away at the Rapier. "Make
another run at that second 'bird. Same attack pattern."

The Magellan continued to focus it's attack on the second warbird. This time
with better results.

"Their shields are collapsing!"

"Finish 'em off, Ms. J'klock!" Mayo said to his chief tactical officer.

Another run saw explosions register throughout the warbird, but it didn't
explode entirely as he began to drift.

"Shields, weapons, engines and other critical systems are down. Our own
shields are down to forty percent."

Mayo knew that the first warbird had barely been touched and was in much
better shape than he was. Even so, he liked his chances in a one-on-one fight.

"Lets take these Rommies on a little ride," Mayo said. "Three-quarter impulse
away from the Rapier. Emergency power to aft shields."

"Aye, sir."

The first warbird had little trouble keeping up with the Magellan, firing away at
the Federation starship.

"Sir, we're starting to take hull damage to the engineering section!"

"Then lets end this, shall we," Mayo said. "Two degree incline then emergency
stop!"

The warbird overpassed the Magellan, but was quickly readjusting.

"Focus on their engines and fire!" Mayo ordered.

Phasers and torpedoes slammed into the aft section of the warbird, weakening
the aft shields considerably.

"They're impulse drive is offline."

"Continue the attack!"

"Sir, they're going to warp!"

"The hell they are! Continue to fire on their engines."

"Too late!"

The warbird went to warp, much to Mayo's utmost dismay.

"Should we go after them?"

Mayo wanted to say yes, but knew what his main priority was, "No. Take us back
to the Rapier and that second warbird. Have security to prepare to take onboard
prisoners."

"Aye, sir."

Mayo sat back more comfortably in his chair, just glad to make it through another
battle.

[USS Chimera] 240906.12 ||SB 234: UNITY|| Joint Personal Log, Capt. Trent Rodgers and Cmdr Rick Rodgers

=Trent Rodgers' Apartment/Quarters=
=Starbase UNITY=

After another late meeting, Trent finally arrived at his quarters where
he was hoping to get a at least four hours of sleep. A lot of things were
on his mine. The war in general and, to me more specific, the ongoing
task force missions which, until Shane returned, he was overall
responsible for. He also had personal matters that crept into his head
from time to time, but fortunately, he had very little time to reflect
on his personal life.

What he wanted now was a little sleep, but as he laid in bed, he found
it difficult. He struggled to even relax.

Normally, in this case, he would down half a bottle of vodka, or some
other beverage of choice to relax. But, with his current role as acting
task force commanding officer, he had to hold off on the alcohol for
now.

He hopped up out of bed and walked over to the replicator. He thought
for a moment before he made his decision.

"Computer, a glass of warm milk."

There was no response/

"Computer, a glass of warm milk," Trent repeated.

[Please state the nature of your medical emergency]

Trent's eyes widened by the computer's response.

"What?" Trent muttered. "I want a warm glass of milk."

[Repeat your request]

"Damn it!"

Trent rubbed his eyes as he was getting a bit upset.

"I want a ... warm ... glass ... of ... milk," he said.

[The time is fourteen hundred hours and twenty two minutes]

"Oh, for crying ..." Trent yelled out. It wasn't even the correct time,
he reflected. "Milk! Warm! Glass! Now!"

[Would you like something to eat with that?]

"What the ... no, I would not like something to eat with that. All
I want is a warm glass of milk. That is all."

[How about some Denobulan eggs instead?]

"Oh, for ...!" Trent wanted to beat the hell out of the replicator, but
knew it wouldn' do any good. "Rodgers ... Captain Rodgers to engineering."

+TAP+ "Engineering, Lieutenant Jeffers here."

"Could you send someone to my quarters at your earliest possible
conveince. My replicator seems to be having a slight meltdown."

+TAP+ "I'll have someone to check it out shortly. Is there anything else I
can do for you?"

"No. Rodgers out."

Trent shook his head before he took a seat at his computer and started
reading over some reports. After a few minutes, the door chimed.

"Enter," he said.

The door opened and Trent looked up to see Rick standing there with a
wide grin.

"Replicator problems?" Rick said.

Trent sat up.

"Yeah, it's ... wait a minute ... why are you here? Shouldn't you be home or
something."

Rick took a couple of steps.

"Well, I ..."

"Oh, geez ... you did this, didn't you?" Trent asked as he remained seated.
"You somehow screwed up my replicator."

Rick shrugged, "Since you've been avoiding me for the past few days, I
thought this may be the only way we might have time to talk."

"Oh, for ... damn it, Ricky, I'm really not in the mood for this."

"At this time of night, neither am I. But, you not visit. You not seem to
want to have lunch with me. And when I try to get in contact with you,
your aide say you not available. So, this seem only way."

"I'm a busy man, Ricky. I ..."

"You're not that busy. Now, if you not want to talk, I leave and we may
have someone look at your replicator in ... a week or so."

Trent knew he could have made a direct call to the CEO and have it fixed
right away, but why bother. Besides, if his brother wanted to go though
all of this just to talk, then fine by him.

"Fine. Lets talk," Trent said.

[USS Chimera] SD 240906.12 Quorum Space Personal Log Cmdr Summers / Maj. Varis

rangi.summers@mojwap.sk wrote to chimera@ucip.org:

*** Padassa Trading Station - Quorum Space (Romulan
Annexed) ***

Rangi paced back and forth in her half of the small cell
becoming more tense as time went on.
Now and then she stopped and looked worriedly towards the
curled up figure of Liev, assessing his condition as best
she could. The implant in the back of his head was partially
visible and she wondered about it and the other captives
that liev had mentioned.

It was difficult to gauge the time but she thought it must
have been a couple of hours when the doors on both sides of
the cell were opened almost simultaneously.
A guard entered her half carrying a large mug but Rangis
attention was immediately drawn to the activity on the other
side of the force field.

"Get up..time to eat" the guard said harshly and kicked Liev
sadistically.

" Stop that" Rangi cried but the guard merely gave a cruel
grin in her direction, set down the mug he carried onto the
small platform and looking straight at Rangi, delivered
another blow to Liev who groaning, was now half lying on the
floor trying to sit up. The door slammed shut.
Rangi turned quickly but the sounds of the door being locked
told her she was too late to do anything and clenching her
fists in frustration, she looked back towards Liev.
" Are you alright?" she asked, stepping back towards the
invisible barrier.

" Wh..wha..what?" he asked looking blindly in the direction
of her voice. " Who is it?"

" It's me..Rangi...do you remember?"

He peered up at her then nodded. " Yes..Rangi." he said in a
broken voice. " What..have they...done...to you..."

" Nothing." she replied. " They just came in and brought.."
she looked at the mug standing on the platform "...something
to drink."

The effect of her words was startling for Liev seemed to
gain sudden life and raising himself to his hands and knees,
felt sightlessly around the floor until his hand touched the
side of the platform.
Orientated, he stretched his fingers shakily until he found
the mug and lifting it to his lips, drank noisily, gulping
the liquid down.
Rangis attention turned to the mug left for her and she
moved to get it.

" Ohh!" she said, recoiling in disgust from both the sight
and the smell of the grey liquid it held.
Liev though had no such concerns and had finished his drink
by the time she looked back at him, wiping drips from his
chin and sucking them from his hand.

There was something so awful, so terrible about that action
that she felt a lump come to her throat.
To think that Liev, the tall confident man with a firm
handshake and friendly expression, the man who had helped
Shane and herself become Martins legal guardians, a man of
intelligence and compassion had been reduced to this
pathetic creature was too dreadful for Rangi to accept.

He knelt on the floor breathing fast after the exertion of
drinking when the door opened again, almost knocking him
over.
Two guards entered and siezed him roughly, pulling him to
his feet and dragging him, unable to resist, out of the
cell.

" No..let him go!" Rangi yelled but yelped in pain as the
force field bit into her for she had forgotten it.

Sucking in and then releasing a gasp as the sensation eased,
she turned to her own door and beat her fists against it.
" He needs medical attention...bring him back.,.bring him
back!!" she cried but as before, there was no responce.

She turned away knowing it was useless and sank down onto
the platform, bending her head into her hands and began to
sob.
When she raised her head, she wiped away her tears thinking
that she must remain focussed and not give in to fear or
frustration.
Her eyes fell to the mug beside her and the now congealed
grey liquid it contained and she struck out at it, sending
it flying across the cell into the force field which buzzed
and flashed like a minature electric storm with violent arcs
or light.

She took two deep breaths to calm herself but her thoughts
were on Martin and on Harker for, if he was capable of doing
this to a man, what would he do to a child.

[USS Chimera] SD 240906.09 | SB Unity | Joint Log, Capts Rodgers (1TF XO) & Chisulo (1TF Tac) & Maj Kinn (1TF Intel)

= SB Unity, 1st Task Force Section - Situation Room 2 =

Immediately after her arrival at Unity, Giella headed straight to her office to gather the necessary files and information she needed for her meeting with Captains Rodgers and Chisulo. Since she'd spoken with Commander Terek, the genial scientist had also managed to extrapolate the origin of Rangi's message and passed the information along to her. Now she sat at the oval-shaped table and awaited the arrival of the two Task Force officers.

Chisulo reported to the situation room with a padd in his hands detailing the last patrol reports along the klingon border. When he arrived, he nodded to the adjunct intelligence advisor and took a seat across from her at the table. The seat at the head, he assumed, was for Captain Rodgers.

Trent entered the situation room to find the marines already seated at the table. With acting command of the task force being thrusted upon him during such a short time since his arrival to UNITY, he found himself dealing with a wide scope of things when the meeting was requested.

As Trent approached the table, the two others stood as Giella greeted him.

"Captain Rodgers, I'm Major Kinn," she said as she introduced herself, extending her hand towards him in greeting.

"Yes, Major, it is good to meet you," Trent said, accepting the offered hand, then motioned for Kinn and Chisulo to take a seat. "Now, please tell me why you have asked for this meeting."

"I'm sorry for the urgency of this meeting, but it could not wait," Giella said. "I'm aware that Commodore Guzman has left on the Qashqai for Romulan space. He requested that Commander Terek send him the location of Commander Summers as soon as he extrapolated it from the message she sent, but I've asked Terek to withhold until I've spoken with you both. I believe that sending the information to the Commodore would jeopardise Commander Summers if her captors learn that we know of her location."

"A wise precaution, all things considered," Trent said, holding back the fact that he was still not comfortable having the commodore going off on this mission. "Tell me about this message."

"Commander Terek says the message originated from an outpost or station of some sort in the Padassa System in Quorum space. Our intel is very limited on the Quorum, but from we do know it's a rather large are of space that has been annexed by the Romulans for some time," Giella replied. "I would like to request that we send an extraction team to infiltrate the station and find Commander Summers. If I'm not mistaken, the USS Detector has the most advanced cloaking system in Starfleet and it would pass undetected through Romulan space."

"As I'm sure you know, from what I've read, the Detector is not well armed. If she's caught, she wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell," Trent said. "Even so, if there's any ship that can sneak into Quorum space ..."

Trent sat back in his chair.

"Why is our intel on that area of space so limited?" the task force XO asked. "From the last report I saw, we should have a few of our people in that region."

"I've just returned from an SSFI Committee meeting with some disturbing results. It's been discovered that the majority of our operatives in the Romulan Empire have been discovered by the Romulans months ago. Since then, the Tal'Shiar has been submitting fake reports under the names of these agents, making us believe they are still active when in fact they're not. This brings into question every piece of intelligence we've received recently and in effect we cannot trust our own agents anymore. That's why I would rather do this myself than have someone on the inside take care of it... we don't know if we would only be making things worse," she said, looking at Rodgers.

"This is disturbing news," Trent said, looking a bit concerned. "We've been relying a lot ... perhaps too much on that intel."

Trent looked across the table at the major for a moment before focusing on Chisulo.

"Captain, you commanded the Detector during the liberation of V'Tar. Do you think she's ready for such a mission?"

Chisulo had remained quiet throughout the briefing, preferring to hear the XO's opinions, and waiting to offer his advice. Now that the Captain had sked for it, Chisulo was free to give it. "She is a quick and stealthy ship, Captain. I am confident she will not be detected, however if we get involved in a head-to-head confrontation, she will not last long. Tactics can be devised to account for this, sir." He said, "If outfitted with stronger, more powerful torpedo armaments, coupled with the state-of-the-art sensor pallets aboard, the Detector would make a highly effective long range combatant."

Trent thought for a long moment, taking glances at both marines.

"All right, major. This is your show," Trent said. "Take the Detector and do what you need to do. But I want you to avoid any contact with enemy ships. Understood."

"Understood, sir. Thank you," Giella replied before Captain Rodgers dismissed them.

= Chimera Summary =

(IXUS)

The new Chimera CSec MCapt. Channer Davis makes his way to Unity whilst having to deal with a very chatty Pilot in the form of Lt. Henry Boyd.  Chimera launches a furious attack on the approachin Romulan troop transports.  Cropa and Jade focus on the battle but Bren worries over the sinister threat that Athena senses.  1Lt. Johann Fosters and Pvt. Roquette Lecuyer board and creep through one of the fleeing Breen freighters finding more than they bargain for with the discovery of a bio-weapon warhead and a young human girl who appears very ill.

= UNITY Summary =

(Rangi)

Shane had been introduced to the 'rotting heap' method of dealing with paperwork but his thoughts had been directed from that  when his brother Martin had asked to see him and requested to accompany Shane on board Qashqai.Shane agreed but said he would not wait.
Major Giellera Kinn had learned of a number of security breaches and asked to speak to Shane urgently. When she was told he had left Unity, she guessed what the classified mission was. She spoke to Terek and ordered him not to inform Shane when he pinpoited rangis whereabouts. Terek was not happy to disobey Shanes orders but Giella explained that if the meassage was intercepted, it could prove fatal. Terek reluctantly agreed to Giellas request.
Rangi had been locked in a cell divided in two by a force field. When a man was thrown into the other half, obviously having been illtreated for sometime, she was horrified to recognise Major Varis. He told here there were many more prisoners being held there and that he was subject to sessions on a machine that was connected to an implant in his head.
In turn, Rangi explained how his place on Unity had been taken by the Chameleoid imposter.
On board Unity, Mumacik worked out the probability of apprehending the attacker but arrested not only him but Nym and an innocent bystander as well to be on the safe side. The bystander turned out to be Commander Ariel Daveed of Starfleet Intelligence who offered his services in retrieving the information on the padd.

- Logging Guidelines
-------------------------
Logging:
The weekly logging deadline is at Midnight (12:00AM/00:00) GMT/UTC (19:00 EST); all logs received after the deadline will be counted for the following week. If you are pressed for time and would like a log to count for the previous week, but it is sent after the deadline, please send an email to the command team when you send the log so that we can make the corrections.
Please remember that all MAJOR plot changes need to be cleared with the command staff before a log goes through! You can do this by sending the command staff (chimera-command@ucip.org
) a log labeled with "Draft" tagged to the subject line. We'll typically let you know if it's approved within 24 to 48 hours, or tell you what might need to be modified before it's sent to the listserv.
When using other characters in your logs, please keep in mind that person's characteristics. Character information can be found on the UCIP website or the USS Chimera website (under CREW - just click on the Star Trek symbol next to the character's name). If you're still unsure how to interact with a character, then privately mail the person
involved, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help.
Conversely, if you feel that your character is being portrayed incorrectly by someone please contact them to try to work out an agreeable solution. Just keep in mind when logging to treat other characters the way you'd like them to treat you - with the respect due to any member of Starfleet who is a specialist in their field.
If you think your log may be going out of bounds, then please ask! If you are having problems finding things to write about or would just like some help with your log, please contact your department head or the command team. Remember, you don't always have to log about things relating to the main plot - logs that develop your character's
personality are encouraged! We're eager to help if you're having trouble; just email the command team (chimera-command@ucip.org
).

[USS Chimera] SD 240906.09 SB Unity: Personal Log: Lucy Fleming / Boaz Teal (Guest simmer)

rangi.summers@mojwap.sk wrote to chimera@ucip.org:

Boaz was looking over the list of things going on in Bajor
engineering. Nothing exciting going on here at HQ, just a
few things on the drawing board and one actually in the
prototype build-up stage. Starship design, a couple of
requests for permission to submit preliminary drawings.

Starfleet has one shipyard going into construction. He would
go there and see what advances Starfleet has made. Maybe
something he could use for Bajor.

After checking his schedule he called LtCmdr Jameson in.
"Commander, I'm going to Starbase Unity for a bit. It's a
new shipyard operation and I just want to check it out.
Keep things running smoothly here. You'll know where I am if
you need me. Any questions?"

"None sir" was her reply.

He sat and looked at her for a moment. "Is there something
wrong sir?" she asked. Boaz blinked his eyes a couple times,
"Uh, no. You're dismissed." She got up and left.

Boaz sent a note to General Adah where he was going and went
to try out his new runabout. He sat down in the pilots seat
and looked around.

Just then someone poked his head in and asked, "Can I help
you sir?"

Wondering who would interrupt him Boaz turned around, "And
just who are you?"

"I'm the pilot of this runabout. Are you Ambassador Teal
sir?"

"I am" he answered. And stood to shake hands with the man.

"I'm LtJG Jones, sir. Your pilot. If you want to go for a
ride to check it out we can."

He seemed to be a pleasant enough man, part human and part
Vulcan. (Like Spock.) "I'm sure you've already checked it
out, since you're the assigned pilot. We're going to
Starbase Unity for a few days. I'll be back in 30 minutes
with a little bit of luggage for the trip. Then we can
leave. Is that enough time for you?" The Lt sa id it was.

Boaz arrived back at the runabout to find the Lt running
prelaunch checks already. "I have indeed checked it out.
Prelaunch checks complete. We're ready when you are sir."

Boaz just smiled, "Let's go."

Jones called flight ops and requested permission to leave.
"Flight Ops, Runabout Specklebelly ready for departure."

"Runabout Specklebelly, you are cleared for launch. Have a
nice flight ambassador." They were off. During the time it
took to travel to Starbase Unity Boaz and his pilot got to
know each other.

LtJG Jones had been flying since his father let him pilot
the family runabout.

Arriving at Starbase Unity they docked and Boaz told the
pilot to enjoy himself but keep his comm badge on at all
times. Boaz was in civilian clothes and headed to a
restaurant for some lunch.

Lucy sighed and peered out at the little tables and chairs
set outside. {If they dont hurry up my seat will be taken!}
she grumbled to herself and casting her attention back to
the chef, wished he would speed up in making the pizza and
slow down on the chitchat that took too much of his time.

Five minutes later she had her meal on a tray and turning
from the counter carried it towards the door, seeing the
empty place waiting for her as she passed the window. With
a smile of triumph she turned left out of the open door
stepped towards the table, stopped dead and said "Oh!" for
someone was sitting down on 'her' chair.

Boaz looked up at the surprised 'Oh', then stood up. "Am I
in your seat? I didn't see anyone here. I'm sorry if I took
your table, but I didn't see anymore empty tables around."
He held the chair for her, if she wanted to sit down. "That
pizza looks good. I think I'll have one. Waiter."

Lucy clutched her tray and sank down onto the chair as
though she had lost the power of self control. A waiter
hurried forward at the same moment as this stranger
commandeered a vacant chair from the next table, whose
occupants said they didnt mind.

Finding herself with a lunchtime companion, Lucy gave a weak
smile and said " Of course" when he asked if he could sit
with her. It would have been churlish to refuse for there
was nowhere else free except one space at the next table and
it was obvious that the couple there wanted only each others
company.

"I'm afraid the chef is sometimes a bit slow...though it's
worth the wait." she added lowering her eyes to the
delicious pizza.

"Thank you." He turned to the waiter, "I'd like a pizza like
hers. What topings do you have?" He listened as the waiter
went through the list. "I'll have sausage, olives and a few
anchovies if he has any." Boaz sat down. "Please eat. Don't
wait for me. My name is Teal Boaz. And your name is?"

"Lucy Fleming." she replied, then with a slightly self
conscious expression added " I will begin if you don't mind.
I haven't eaten since yesterday lunchtime. So...." She
lifted her knife, cut a small portion and bit into it with
obvious relish. A moment later she smiled to him as she
chewed the first portion of her lunch.

"And why haven't you eaten in 24 hours? That's not good you
know. Ask your doctor." It had started out to be a chair to
sit and drink some tea. Now he was curious about this female
human.

Lucy swallowed and shook her head as she did so. " I don't
need to see a doctor." she replied, reaching for the glass
of water. " I work in the infirmary." she added, lifting the
glass to her lips.

He was smiling and watching her eat. She is a pretty lady.
"You must be a doctor or a nurse if you work there. I'm just
visiting here myself. Ah, my pizza. And some anchovies." he
said as his was delivered with a new glass of spring tea.

Lucy bit into another mouthful as the waiter set out Boaz's
meal. Hers was delicious but she had been so hungry, dry
bread would have seemed a feast. "I'm a nurse.. head nurse
in fact." she informed him. " That was the problem. A
temporary staff shortage and as we're so busy at the moment.
Well...one thing led to another.. you know how it goes?"
She took another piece of Pizza.

Boaz picked up a piece of his pi zza "Lucy, that's a pretty
name for a very pretty lady. You are correct, this pizza is
excellent. Thank you for the recommendation. Are you
married?" He took a drink of his spring tea.

Lucy, slowed her chewing and looked across the little round
table at the Bajoran seated opposite to her. "No I'm not."
she said, eyeing him thoughtfully . She took another drink.
"You?" she asked.

"Yes and No. I didn't mean to get personal. After all we've
just met and I'm sure you are busy. Although I wouldn't
mind, or should I say, I'd like to get to know you better
while I'm here. Maybe we could do a proper meal together.
Maybe supper tonight?"

"I'm working a late evening shift." she replied promptly and
saw a his expression turn sad. "Really I am. But...perhaps
tomorrow?" she added, thinking that her reply had sounded to
abrupt even if it was the truth but there was something else
that had caused the refusal which was more important to her
than her shift pattern. "What exactly do you mean by 'yes
and no' " she asked looking directly at him.

He thought for a moment then answered. "Let me explain
that. Yes, I am married. But only one wife. Bajorans by
law and approval of the prophets are allowed to have up to
three wives if they can afford them. It was instituted
after the Cardassian occupation and never recinded since the
prophets approved it. So, no I'm not married as many times
as I can be." He thought for another moment. "Tomorrow
will be fine. Unless you'd like to make it a snack after
your shift is done. I'd like someone to show me around the
starbase, computers are so impersonal. Who might I talk to
about positions here?" He thought if she showed any interest
maybe he could stay in a temporary position for a while to
get a good feel for the station and the personnel.

Lucy found herself looking at him thoughtfully, mindful of
the encounter she'd had with Vlimar PontBrillant. Teal too
was a much older man but... She smiled suddenly at his
quizzical expression when she took so long to answer.
"Alright then, I'll show you around." she replied. "Shall we
meet here?.. say about 3? That's if you're not engaged in
some work." she answered.

As he took the last bite of his pizza he said, "I'll be
here. I've no work here. I'm just looking the station over."
He stood, took her hand and kissed the back of it.

Lucy remained seated and looked up at him, returning the
smile that followed his charming gesture.

"Tomorrow then." she said, intrigued by his manners.
