== part TWO ===

Trent had read the earlier reports Rangi had made out about
this breakout on the planet. With everything else going on
around the starbase and with the war, he had not put too
much thought on outbreak. He had enough confidence in Rangi
and her people to combat it.

Now, it looked as if they may be in some trouble.

"How contagious is this, Doctor?" Trent asked.

What could she answer other than the truth, feeble as it
sounded.

"I don't know." she replied

Shane nodded: "I can only second Captain Rodgers. I am by
far not underestimating the situation, but quarantining a
whole plant and possible UNITY as well, isn't a peanuts
decision." Looking at Rangi he asked: "Is there any other
alternative how to handle the situation?"

Rangi opened her bag and slid slim padds across the table
top towards Trent and Cortez. Shane she knew already had the
information.

" I can't think of one." she answered, looking at him as she
spoke. " I only know that there is just too much
'coincidence' in all these events and I strongly urge you to
contain what we have."

She paused for a second.

" The research is ongoing but its not getting us any nearer
an answer, if anything its giving us more to question. We
dont know what the cause is or how it works but people have
died, there has been an incident on the planet involving a
medical team and until we have more answers I believe we
have to treat the situation as we find it. I know Aerans
chief administrator wont be happy about financial concerns
but that could be the least of his problems."

Looking at Cortez, Shane asked: "Major, as far I know,
you're not on active duty again. How are you fitting into
this story?"

"I've been helping Commander Summers launch an investigation
into the origins of this illness", Cortez said glancing over
at Summers. "So far the only thing that's certain", he said
looking at the Admiral directly, "Is that if this illness is
contagious, then judging by the amount of people that
Rangi's patient came into contact with before being
quarantined, we are going to have a major outbreak on our
hands very soon.", he paused shortly. "Considering the
related instances, especially what happened on Aeran III, I
would have to agree with the Commander, quarantine and
immediate military lock-down is the correct response, I know
its not easy politically", he took a shot at Shane, "but for
the safety of the actual lives of the people on this base
its the only response worth considering".

The XO leaned forward.

"I'm not that concerned about the starbase. We can lock this
place down if necessary," Trent said. "It's Aeran III that
is the big concern. Do we even have the resources here to
impliment quarantine? Many of our ships are spread
throughout the warzone. In order for a successful
quarantine, we'd have to pull those assets from critical
areas."

Shane nodded towards his XO and said: "That's a valid
question, thank you for bringing this up. We have one
advantage, UNITY's internal sensors and our sensor
network. We can use that sensor data to cover all Arean III
to be sure we do not miss any ship leaving the planet. Then
we have to place three, maybe just 2 capital ships on
synchronal orbit that can intercept any ships attempting to
leave."

Looking at Trent he asked: "Would you agree with such a
plan, Captain?"

The XO nodded, "It should be sufficient."

Looking at the team, Shane said: "Unless someone can give
me an alternative, we have to lock down Aeran III …" -
Hide quoted text -

Rangi gave a slight shake of her head as Shane's glance
passed to her. It could be a waste of resources and efforts,
it could even be a waste of time but as far as she was
concerned, it was essential.

Shane nodded: "One more question." Looking at Cortez, he
asked: "I know you are not yet cleared for full duty, but
is there a way how do you see your support in this
situation?"

"Any questions regarding my health and ability to return to
active duty I would have to direct towards Commander
Summers", Richard answered directly. "However she has
agreed to allow me to participate in the investigation on a
temporary basis, I plan on returning to the Chimera once we
get this mess sorted out, or she clears me ... whichever
comes first".

Rangi answered Shane's questioning glance. "Yes." she said
"...although the Major isn't fit for front line duty, his
expertise will be invaluable for us here."

Shane nodded like making up his mind at last. Looking at
Rang he said: "All right, Commander. You have my approval to
quarantine Aeran III. Captain Rodgers will supply you with 2
capital ships that will enforce the quarantine. You can use
even the Qashqai as a fat reaction ship, having three ships
in total. UNITY shall stay open for now, but on the first
sign that the disease is spreading, she will be locked down
as well".

Looking at Cortez he said: "Major, I cannot do any decision
regarding your duty status, but with Commander Summer's
approval, I would like you to head down to Aeran III and
search for the cause of this disease. Somehow I am not
willing to believe that it's a natural disease and since I
know you … I am quite sure you can go and dig for the
cause."

Looking around, Shane added: "I expect daily reports from
Commander Summers and Major Cortez, we have a serious
situation here and I entrust it into your capable hands.
Captain Rodgers will supervise this operation and ask for
more resources if necessary."

After a small sigh he said: "You have your orders, you're
dismissed!"

=== Conference Room 31, Fleet Level Area, SB 234: UNITY
===

Rather disappointed by the row of unsuccessful meetings and
informal 'talks' with Starfleet high ups, Shane felt that he
needed a break.
He had to develop a new strategy how to approach the current
situation on Earth and other core worlds regarding the
current security breaches and Starfleet high level plans for
the Romulan crisis.
Sighing, he nodded to himself.

He was well aware that he neglected UNITY for the past
couple of weeks, doing only the most vital decisions,
leaving all other things on his XO and staff. His faith in
his fellow officers was great, but maybe they were in the
need of their Admiral's support, but Shane was too busy to
even listen to his crew. That was the reason why he called
this meeting. It was not an official meeting, rather a small
round table with officers already involved with the current
situation on UNITY.

Shane went over to the big window and looked out into the
depths of the universe, awaiting his staff to come.

When the door slid open and Rangi entered, she met his smile
when he turned to meet her.

She carried a collection of padds and looked set for
business, with every intention of pushing her request for
quarantining the planet at the very least. She dumped her
bag of padds on the polished table top and joined him near
the window but they were soon joined by a third person so
moved to the table.

Major Cortez stepped into the room with a coffee mug in one
hand and a PADD in the other.
"Admiral Guzman", he said smiling.

It had been years since they last saw each other, at the
time Shane was Captain of the Chimera and Cortez, well he
was still a Major.
"Its been a long time", he said moving to sit down opposite
of Summers, and giving her a nod as he did so.

Shane nodded: "Indeed, Major Cortez" he did not elaborate as
his XO just entered the room.

After only recently being released from sickbay, Trent had
been playing catchup in the XO's office while also trying to
spend as much time with Sarah, whenever she wasn't helping
Mai that is.
Despite the potential dangers of living on UNITY, Trent
found himself more and more fond of the idea of his family
moving to the starbase. Besides, the recent attacks on Earth
and other UPF worlds just showed that safety on these
planets was just a preception. At least on UNITY, he would
be close to his wife and kids should anything happen.

Trent made his way into the room and noticed the other
officers gathered. He was glad to see Rangi from somewhere
else besides his biobed.
"Admiral," Trent said as he took his seat at the table.

"Captain" Shane nodded back.
Looking at the small assembling, Shane went on:
"Thank you all for attending this little meeting. Please do
not consider this as a formal staff meeting, it's more a
head-up on the current situation". Turning to Rangi he said:
"Commander, please go ahead and inform us all about the
current status. Please be absolutely frank, I believe the
situation is getting critical and we need to act"

" Yes we do." she said and glancing at each in turn finally
settled her eyes on Shane.
She asked again for a quarantine of the planet and explained
about the missing medical team then added:
" But its worse than that. Someone arrived off a shuttle and
had the same symptoms. I put her in isolation but...she died

[Unnamed Freight Shuttle - En Route to Luna]

"The trajectory has us head for the polar blind spot just above the
northern axis." Rojac said. "So sensors would useless. I can't even
pull anything up on visual scanners from this range." He turned to his
XO, who after securing the prisoners in the ship's cargo racks had
come up to occupy the co-pilot seat. "Whoever it is must be using a
cloak."

"It's a possibility to be sure but for a cloaked vessel to get this
close to Earth without anyone noticing? I'd be seriously worried
about homeland security in your boots. Chances are they may be a
falsely registered vessel which simply hasn't arrived yet." Walters
differed.

"Right." Rojac replied. "And the communications systems appear to be
locked out. I can't even get them to turn on."

"There may be another way." The female betazoid had made her way up to
the cabin. Walters must had freed her after she'd calmed down a bit
and realized they were here to help.

Rojac turned around. "My ears are open, miss..."

"Rebecka." She spat. "This was my shuttle before these guys hi-jacked
it. And show some respect while your sitting in my seat."

"Yes, well... Sorry to commandeer your vessel Ms. Rebecka but we have
a Federation emergency at the moment." Rojac turned back to the
cockpit window. "Now do you have any way to get communications back
online?"

"Well no. Not really." Rebecka said more softly. "These terrorist
ripped out the subspace transceivers and hailing systems as soon as
the got aboard to prevent them from being tracked by them. But there
is a way we can send subspace signals through the warp coils."

Rebecka turned to Walters and said in a condescending tone. "Maybe
you know that Riker and Troi did this when they were captured by a
Ferengi vessel? Or maybe you know how to alter the Cochrane distortion
into the warp coils to transmit a coded signal?"

"Firstly I have no idea who Troi is? I remember there being a joke
about a Commodore Riker catching an STD on a diplomatic mission. The
problem being with altering the Cochrane distortion into the warp
coils to create a coded signal is it usually needs someone looking out
for the signal or a signal of some kind. I have a simpler if less
elegant solution, by adjusting the phase variance of the warp core to
more than four point five it causes energy signals which trick other
peoples sensors into thinking you have an impending warp core breach.
It's a pirate trick not that long in circulation in the frontier, here
in the home system of the boy scouts I'm sure we'll draw some
do-gooders including the two Starfleet vessels assigned to the sector"
Walters smirked.

"That could work." Rojac said. "Or it at least would draw in some
patrols to follow us. How long will it take?"

"I can get to it right now." Rebecka said, standing up.

"Please do." Rojac said.

After Rebecka left the cockpit Walters said quietly to his boss
"Downside is doing this invalidates the manufacturers warranty and any
insurance you have...maybe I should have mentioned that to her?"

=/\= Minutes later =/\=

"We're here." Rojac said as he disengaged the impulse drive and the
shuttle floated forward on momentum. "Any signs."

"We've got a ship decloaking to starboard. I don't recognize the type
but it's definitely not of Romulan design I can tell you that much.
They have the landing lights on for their main cargo bay...I'd guess
that's as much of an invitation as we're going to get." Walters said
in deep concentration as he looked at the poor sensor readouts.

Rojac couldn't help but grin. He pressed the internal comm button.
"Rebecka, we're landing your quaint little shuttle in an unknown
vessel's shuttle bay. I hope you don't mind. When we do I want you to
engage that little adjustment we made."

It took a second for her to get to a console to reply. +If you loose
my ship I'll kill you. Starfleet bastard.+

Rojac smirked. "Yes ma'am." He turned to Walters. "Get a stockpile of
weapons and barricade to loading platform. We're going to have to set
a trap for our welcoming party and stall until the cavalry arrives."

"One 'Spanner in the Works' strategy coming up Boss!" Walters said
light-heartedly but mentally preparing himself for what could be a
deadly firefight.

"I'm taking us in." Rojac said. He engaged thrusters and manoeuvred
toward the landing bay.

[USS Chimera] SD 241001.14 | Duty Log | MGen. Richard Sharpe

=/\= Starfleet Transit Station - H-Hour + 3 =/\=

Three hours after the explosion that had torn through the transit hub that was the heart of San Fransisco, and things had improved considerably. After the runabouts had arrived and had started shooting survivors, and Sharpe, Rojac and Walters had driven them away, Richard had ordered the two men to chase after them in their own shuttle. They'd parted company three hours ago, and Richard was left wondering if he'd made the right call.

However, chaos reigned supreme down here. Even with the shooters gone, survivors were fearful of Starfleet personnel, making rescue efforts that little bit harder than they needed to be. Communications had been severely disrupted in the city, with the subsequent collapse of the comms array near the transit station. It had made communication out of the city impossible, and communication within, very tricky. What hadn't helped in the slightest was some sort of secret order that had removed every single flag officer that held some sort of important position, and whisked them away somewhere.

This action had left rescue efforts relatively headless, until Richard remembered that he was a flag officer, and that he hadn't been whisked away. Using his intelligence, he'd spoken with the mayor of San Fransisco, as well as local marine unit commanders. He'd managed to get an MMCC set up on the road outside Starfleet Headquarters, since the building itself was useless with the communications blackout. A communications array was standard equipment on an MMCC, so it was from here that Sharpe was co-ordinating rescue efforts.

For the first time in history, tanks were rolling down the streets of San Fransisco, as Richard had instigated martial law in the immediate area surrounding the transit station. Since Starfleet personnel were suspect, marine personnel were considered a safer bet. Not much better, mind you, but he'd not seen marines shooting at civilians. That last bit was what had convinced the mayor to turn law enforcement of a large part of his city over to Richard. City policy were controlling traffic, both vehcular and pedestrian from the immediate area, as convoys of marine transport trucks hurtled down the roads at full pelt, bringing in much needed man-power to the transit station.

Since the Marine variants of combat engineers were far more used to dealing with collapsing buildings than Richard had assumed they were, the major in command, a Major Terrance Vorn, had laid out a series of operational plans to Richard in the MMCC.

By now, Richard had managed to get his wounds dressed, and had traded in his torn and ruined uniform for a practical marine duty uniform. He still looked awful, since he had burns down the left side of his face, and dried blood in places, and some of his hair had been burned away as well.

Vorn had proposed using cranes to lift the worst of the heavy debris, whilst using shoring lines to support it. Emergency forcefields were being errected throughout the remaining structure to prevent further collapse, whist bulldozers were being used to gently move some of the debris.

In the meantime, a very large contingent of marines from an outlying province were performing search and rescue operations within the wreckage of the terminal building, and the landing pad, with teams of Alsations and Huskies. All in all, things were going pretty darn well, considering. A large detachment of the Military Police, the marine corps internal variant of Starfleet Security, were in charge of roadblocks and policing.

"General." Said someone entering the MMCC. "We've been unable to find any of the senior brass from Starfleet Command. Apparently, some sort of operation, code named Tandra, was put into effect. We've no idea what that involves, but we do know that there were many firefights on the upper levels, where the top brass hang out. We're unable to determine if there were any fatalities amoung the brass or not, because we don't know where they are... if they're alive."

"Typical." Richard sighed. "Right now, I'm the highest ranking officer for a hundred square miles, which is really disconcerting in the city that houses Starfleet Headquarters."

"Yes sir." The aide said. "Starbase One also has no idea where the Starfleet Commander's gone, nor Admiral Janeway, Field Marshal Brisco or anyone. Although we did find the bodies of her bodyguards, and the residue of her Andorian aide. No signs of the Field Marshal yet, but we did find General Pope's body."

"Oh, so the old bugger's finally dead is he?" Richard asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes sir. Phasered while on the can, of all places. Most undignified." The aide said.

"Yes, I would imagine he was scared shitless." Richard said, trying to take things seriously, and failing.

"We've been trying to get that secure link to Starbase Unity for you sir, but so far we've been unable to get through the traffic." The aide said. "But we'll keep trying."

"Thank you." Richard said, indicating that the man could leave. He was concerned that he'd been unable to inform either Harper or Chloe that he was alright. Fortunately, he'd made plans in the event of his being incommunicado, but even so, his mind worried for Chloe.

[USS Chimera] SD 241001.12, Personal Log, Cpt Trent Rodgers

=Main Sickbay=
=Starbase UNITY=

Trent looked himself over in the mirror as he straightened his uniform shirt, making certain his rank was on straight. He was just released from sickbay and was glad to be going anywhere but here.

"Captain Rodgers?"

"Yes," Trent said as he turned to face a security officer.

"Sir, my name is Ensign Dan Daniels. I'm in charge of your security detail."

'Dan Daniels? Imaginative parents,' Trent thought.

"Security detail? Oh, yeah. Sarah did say something about a security detail, didn't she," Trent muttered before once more focusing on the mirror. "What can I do for you, Ensign?"

"Well, sir. I want to make certain that the report on Mr. Hoack and his associates is accurate."

"That Hoack tried to kill me? Yeah, that part is accurate."

"Yes, sir. Well, we're just trying to go over how he managed to arrive on the starbase. We want to clarify things before he's transferred to the Nenon system."

"You'd have to ask him."

"He's not speaking to anyone."

"Really?" Trent said before turning to face the ensign. "Maybe I should have a little talk with Mr. Hoack myself."

"Sir, I don't think that ..."

"What?" Trent interrupted. "You don't think that would be wise? Well, I do. So, let's go pay Hoack a visit, shall we?"

"Aye, sir."

Trent and Daniels exited the room to be met by a second security crewman.

"You will have two security crewmen with you at all times," Daniels explained as they walked out into the corridor. "When you are in your quarters or at work, they will remain on guard outside."

"Wonderful," Trent muttered sarcastically.

"Sir, did you say something?"

"What about my wife and children?" Trent asked. "What if they move out here?"

"They will be provided their own security details when they are apart from you."

'Sarah is going to love that,' Trent thought .

Moments later, they arrived at the brig. Trent was led to Hoack's cell. Hoack's surviving 'associate' was in a cell on the other end of the room. Daniels and the other security crewman remained near the exit. Hoack stood from his bunk.

"Surprised to see me alive," Trent said.

"No. I was informed that you were still among the living. Did you come here to gloat?"

Trent shook his head and allowed himself to grin.

"I came here to say goodbye. You're going to leave here tomorrow directly for the Nenon system. Once there, you will go directly from your transport to the hangman's noose. Did you know that this will be the first hanging in the Nenon system in over two hundred years. Well, first official hanging anyhow."

"So, you came here to give me a history lesson. A history lesson of my own people at that. I can assure you, Captain Rodgers, I will not be hanged."

"You seem so certain of that."

Hoack smiled, "Oh, I won't even make it to the Nenon system."

"We will see about that. I've arranged to escort you there myself."

Hoack moved closer to the forcefield.

"How touching that you want to personally witness my execution. I've witnessed my far share of them, so I know how personal ... and even enjoyable they can be."

Trent moved closer to the cell. Only the space where the unseen forcefield stood between the two.

"You know something, Hoack? I may actually enjoy watching you hang."

As Trent headed for the exit, he heard loud, evil-like laughter coming from Hoack's cell.

"Captain?" Daniels said as Trent walked past him.

"Make certain security is doubled. Hoack has escaped execution before. He's planning something."

"Aye, sir," Daniels said as they exited the room.

[USS Chimera] SD 241001.13 Joint Log, Lt Fisher & Lt Carpenter

It was late, very late or actually very early in the
morning.
Scott had lost count of the number of casualties he had seen
and the number of med reports he had made when the patients
had been transferred.
Now he sat with a mug of coffee in his hand and screwed his
eyes tight shut for a moment, blinking them open to rid
himself of a wave of tiredness. He sipped the coffee but
frowned, for it was cold, luke warm and had a bitter
after-taste.

He sighed and put the mug aside, returning once more to the

notes he needed to complete but he had barely time to begin
when a figure appeared at the open door.
" Lieutenant? You need to see a new casuality."

Scott looked up, a little surprised for the flow of injured
had ceased and although the sound of activity outside
continued, noone had been rescued alive from the rubble for
some hours.
He got to his feet immediately and stepped quickly towards
the door.

" A Terran woman." the medic said " ...found in a tiny space
beneath a statue of
Va'altoth. He's a hero isnt he?" the medic asked seeing
Scotts questioning expression.

" No idea." Scott replied brusquely for he cared not who or
what Va'altoth was and had wondered why the medic thought it
mattered.

They walked quickly to the small compartment where the
latest victim lay and a nurse there, already running
diagnostic scans turned to him.
" Superficial injuries Sir." she said "..and spinal ones
too."
But Scott barely registered her words for he recognised,
even from a distance, who the Terran woman was and felt an

almost physical blow to his chest.

" Sir?...are you alright?" the nurse asked seeing his
obvious shock.
- Show quoted text -

" Mercedes." Scott said in little more than a whisper.

As Mercedes came to she felt a massive wave of dizziness
overcome her, followed by an intense headache and aching in
her back. She opened her eyes and looked around her, but her
vision swam and she struggled to see clearly. A face came
closer and took her a moment to realise who it was, but then
she recognised him.

"Scott?" she managed to say, her voice tired and hoarse.

"It's ok...you're safe." he said looking down at her and
despite being on duty, he touched her cheek, rubbing away
the dust that covered her skin which gave her a ghoulish
appearance.

Her relief was short lived when she tried to move but
realised something was terribly wrong. "Scott..." she said
in alarm. "I can't feel my legs. I can't move them."

" It's alright." he said laying his hand on her shoulder. "
It's alright." His tone was calming and he turned to the
nurse asking for the scan results.
It wasnt good news but he hid his initial dismay.
" You've suffered some nerve damage. " he said "....not
surprising after what happened."

"What happened?" she asked, feeling disoriented. Noting the
large number of Vulcan staff around her she began to recall
that she was on Vulcan. She remembered a conference, going
to the center, but after that everything was blank.

" Thankyou." Scott said, handing the padd back to the nurse
who accepted it and smiled at the Lieutenant sensing that he

and this new patient knew each other and that the news he
had just read was not  good.

Scott turned back to Mercedes.

" There was an explosion inside the centre." he said. " They
arent sure yet but think it was a terrorist attack though by
whom and for what reason...well......there were quite a few
fatalities and alot of serious injuries."

The nurse appeared at his side with a stool and he took if
from her, thanked her again and sat down. He took Mercedes
hand in his own.
" I'd been waiting for you." he said " Do you remember that
we had planned to meet there?"

Mercedes vaguely remembered a tall statue that she had been
admiring. "I think so, I was... I was waiting by a statue I
think? Were we supposed to meet there?"

Scott nodded. " I was late." he said and felt the touch of
fate. If they had been together as planned they would have
been inside the building when the explosion ripped it apart.

"Do you think the Romulans are responsible?" she asked.

" I don't know." he replied. " They could be"

"We have to inform Chimera," Mercedes said.

" Don't worry about that." he said. " Lets just concentrate
on getting you better. I can get you transferred to a
hospital...you'll be better off there."

"Wait..." she said, grasping his hand tighter. "Where will
it be? Can't I stay here with you?"

"That isn't wise. " he said quietly. " You need better
facilities than this place has....its only a temporary
trauma centre. I'll move you to Shin'taar. Its not far away
"

He knew that if she had been more alert she would have
wanted to know what was wrong, what her injuries were and
why he was so keen to send her elsewhere but he squeezed her
hand and stood up.

" Organize a transport to the neurology department at
Shin'taar." he said to the nurse."....priority 1 "

"Thank you Scott," Mercedes said and offered a weary smile.
"I'm rather tired, I think I should try to sleep a bit."

"That will be best." he said, smiling down to her, then
despite the nurse standing near by and the fact that others
were around, raised her hand to his lips and kissed it
gently.

Mercedes smiled warmly back at him this time and then laid back and closed her eyes. The medication was making her weary and she could feel sleep was very near. Everything would be all right.

" Go with her." he told the nurse and keep me updated on her
progress."

[USS Chimera] SD240912.30 | JL - CO, ASec | LtCmdr S'Hran, 1Lt Castillo | "Burning Down the House"

= Holosuite 2, Andor =

S'Hran (NPC) was up on his feet giving orders to his crew, "Casstillo work

on getting the holosuite doors open." S'Hran ordered as he continued
checking on the crew making sure none of them were heavily injured.

Charly jumped up and moved to the exit.  Smoke was slowly filling the
room making it hard to see and even harder to breath.  He stood in
front of the door and frowned when he realized he had no idea what he
was doing.  'Uhhhhh???", he coughed back towards the Tellarite.
"There must be some sort of emergency switch", he mumbled to himself
as he frantically looked around.

The Tellarite scientist walked over to where Callisto was locating the
panel that had all the circuits for the door, "I need some light." The
Tellarite said as he started fumbling around trying to locate the
manual override for the door, "ah there she is." The Tellarite said as
he activated the manual override, "alright we can try pushing the door
open." The Tellarite said to Callisto.

"On Three", Charly said leaning against the door and counting down.  A
few seconds later, and with much effort the entrance finally gave way
causing the Lieutenant to lose his footing and slip face first to the
floor.

"Ouch", he grumbled as he staggered to his feet only to realize once
he'd wiped the sweat from his brow, that what he thought was just some
sort of malfunction or explosion in the one holosuite was actually a
much larger event that had caused death and destruction throughout the
entire facility.  "My God", Charly looked back at S'Hran, taking a few
steps down the hallway,  "What happened", he said not really expecting
an answer.

S'Hran made his way over to the door, "alright are first job is to
help the wounded and then figure out what happened." The Andorian
Commander said. S'Hran then stepped into the hallway looking around
knowing that they needed to get out of the building the explosion
probably caused some structural damage. "Alright we move to get out of
the building and we grab any survivors on the way out." S'Hran said
changing the plan a little.

"Yeah...whatever", Castillo said immediately heading in the direction
of the nearest exit.  Out of the corner of his eye he spotted a man
whose legs seemed to have been melted off, groaning in pain.  His
first reaction was to ignore him, but after taking a few more steps he
paused, sighed, rolled his eyes and turned back to help.
"Here", he said as he pulled the man over his shoulder and began
making his way back to the exit.

S'Hran and the rest of the people who were particpating in the simulation finally made it out of the building seeing that teh 1Lt found a surivor he looked around. "Callisto and Simmions go and see if you can find some one to help with medical help." S'Hran said pointing to another Human officer.

1. Commanding Officer's Message:

Greetings Chimerans,

This was quite a slow week, but it is the beginning of the year for all (and the beginning of a new semester for some). I hope RL begins to settle for you all, as this is going to be a busy year for the Chimera. If this logging slump continues far into January though, I may be in for a bout of depression.

But hey! The ISD Division Commander (Mumacik) has given us all the Timmis Award to brighten our day! Good job crew on your hard work.

We have a new website! If you haven't had the chance yet go online and check it out. We switched to the Anondyne Simm Management System , but continue to send your logs to the e-mail list. I made the switch because it is easier for me to keep up-to-date not because were going to switch to SMS logging (Though that may be a future possibility).

Reminder: Not everyone has filled out the small questionnaire I sent out. Please do so. It's hard for me to improve things if you can't tell me what's wrong. I've gotten a few good responses so far, but I'll need more to identify any kind of consensus. The link can be found here: Questionnaire.

I'm always open to comments and suggestions. Please e-mail the command team with any and all concerns you may have.

Now on to the report,

+Rojac

2. Executive Officer's Message:

Hope you all enjoyed the holiday season and are all recharged and raring to go for the new year.  The terrorists are running rampage on Earth, Vulcan and Andor.  Reaper Wing is facing an Battalion of battle hardened killers and Unity is infected with an apocalyptic biological weapon that threatens not only the station but the entire galaxy.  How can you resist logging?

This week on the Chimera...

In UNITY's Civilian Hospital, wire demon infected Georgia Pegg chokes on some food, and the cause of her ailment escapes unnoticed into the ventilation system. Back on Earth, Captain Rojac and his trusted heavy-gravity worlded side-kick/XO hi-jack a terrorist shuttle. Is that ironic to anyone else? Patrick Harper as forced to tell Major General Sharpe's new bride that the General may have perished in the disaster on Earth, but they have a hinkerin' that he wouldn't fall so easily. Sixth sense maybe? Back on Andor Jade Reese, Rayna Dior and Gustav Kroitzer slowly make their way out of the holosuite.

To ways to disappear........

"Marshal, its been my honour to serve with you... and to be
your friend." She said, and cracked a weak smile, before
placing a kiss on Chantelle's lips, distracting her from the
emergency transporter chip she put on Chantelle's arms.
Chantelle felt herself demateralizing and looked up at
Fizzer with a look of suprise, which moments later turned to
a look of horror as the last second before she vanished,
Fizzer was vaporized.

Beware 'take-away' meals..............

There was Chicken soup, with a delicious aroma and under a
second cover, some crusty bread. She lifted the
spoon, feeling hungry after all and filled it with soup and
lifted it to her lips. It was tastey and Georgia enjoyed it,
taking two or three more spoonfuls before stopping to try
the bread. She swallowed some but it seemed she had taken
too large a bite and it stuck in her throat causing her to
cough. The bread didnt move, Georgia frowned and coughing a
bit harder, set the tray on the bed beside her and put a
hand to her throat.

This is the alternative to "Don't-Look-Down" :)............

A piece of rubble skittered across the ground towards
Hussain. The rock looked to be covered in paper.
Suspiciously he looked around before crouching down to
unwrap the piece of paper around the piece of rubble. The
paper was covered in dirt and the writing on it looked
smudged and was written in thick strokes of some red liquid,
possibly
human blood. It only said two words...'Look Up'.

Hussain looked up towards the sky and saw the dark figure of
Major Scott Walters dropping from the roof of the station
holding a pointy piece of metallic wreckage. The makeshift
spear pierced through Hussain's body like a hot kebab skewer
and Walter's landed heavily on what remained of Hussain's
rib cage. "Bet you didn't didn't realise I
was a heavy gravity worlder Captain, care to finish off this
blue bastard or shall I?"

::Slaps hand to head::..........

Gustav was trying to open the doors manual release hatch but
for some reason it wouldn't open so he decided to hit it.
"Stand back Lt I don't know what this will do to my arm" he
said as he coiled back and punched through the metal
plating.

"BUGGER, bloody forgot to turn off the pain recepters" said
the young engineer while holding his hand while swearing
like a trooper.
