OOC: Takes place before the JL between Rick and Bren

Bren rolled around in the bed and extended his right hand ahead of him to grab Liev and pull him closer, but merely clutched at empty sheets and realised after a moment that Liev wasn't in bed anymore. Reluctantly opening his eyes, he looked around the empty room, its lighting dim. He glanced at the bedside table and the chronometer and saw that he still had five minutes to go before he had to be up. But, knowing that it would be useless to get any more sleep in five minutes, he rolled himself out of bed and waddled sleepily into the living room area.
"Good morning," Liev said with a smile from the kitchen where he was busy making coffee, brewing it from real ground beans instead of the replicated stuff which he had somehow grown a dislike for. "I'm making coffee, do you want some?"
"Yes, please," Bren mumbled and rubbed his eyes and stumbled into the open kitchen area, flopping down on a barstool in front of the counter. "Why are you up so early? And already dressed?"
"Busy day," Liev replied as he fetched another cup and poured the steaming black liquid into it. "I have a number of files to get through and I've been assigned to the greeting party for the Klingon delegation."
"Oh yes... I heard about that," Bren replied as his memory became a bit clearer. "I heard they're only sending an envoy and two aides. Some delegation."
"Quite," Liev sighed. "Notice came from Ambassador Torres herself. According to her report, the Houses were fighting about whether or not to send an ambassador to Unity, so the Chancellor decided to send an Envoy for now. Frankly I can think of better things than babysitting Klingons."
"Like balmy days and sweet sangria?" Bren grinned as he took the cup of coffee Liev offered him.
"That reminds me. We should book some holosuite time again. When I can actually see over the stack of padds on my desk. And when you get back from your assignment. How long are you expecting to be gone?"
"Hopefully no longer than four days," Bren replied, sipping the hot coffee. "But I doubt it will even take that long. It's rather out of the way so we shouldn't run into any trouble, hopefully."
"Four days?" Liev said as he came around the counter and put a hand around Bren's waist and put his head on Bren's shoulder. "At least it's not four months."
Bren smiled. "No, don't worry. It's only three light years away. We'll be back in no time, you'll see. You just take care of your Klingons and I'll bring you back a souveneir."
"Just bring me back yourself," Liev said and gave Bren a kiss before heading towards the door. "I'll come say goodbye before you leave tonight."
"Have a nice day!" Bren called after him before the door closer. He looked towards the window behind the lounge area that looked out over Unity's outer ring and onto the northern continent of Aeran III. He hadn't been down to the planet yet, but made a note to visit it when he came back.
