Bren stepped onto the floor of Unity's large Main Engineering complex and walked
over to the massive MSD that covered the entire starbase. Since he was assigned
to fetch the shipyard at the Tarangor System by Commodore Guzman, he knew he
would need some help with the project, and he could think of no one better than
Commander Rodgers to help him with it.
Walking towards the MSD he kept an eye open for Commander Utley, but didn't see
her. He stopped in front of the tall display screen in the centre of the floor and took
a closer look at the current display which was a detailed display of the EPS network.
He turned to walk to his right when suddenly a woman appeared from the other side
of the screen and gasped.
Chloe had been talking to one of her engineers on her communicator, and not paying
attention,

+tap+ "I know we're having problems with ..." she felt her heart skip a beat, then took
a deep breath. "Lieutenant, I'll have to get back with you."
She looked at Bren, surprised to see the task force science adviser.
"Sir?"
She looked at Bren, surprised to see the task force science adviser.
"Sir?"
"Sorry to have startled you, Commander Utley. How is everything going down here in
Engineering?" Bren asked as he slipped his hands in his pockets and looked around.
"Everything is going well," she replied, knowing deep down that wasn't completely the
truth.
'Cover your own ass,' she thought.

'Cover your own ass,' she thought.
"I'm actually looking for Commander Rodgers. Have you seen him around by any
chance?"
'Rodgers, huh?' she thought with disdain."I'm ... I'm not certain of his whereabouts," she answered, then yelled out to a passing
officer. "Lieutenant Farralon, do you know where Commander Rodgers is?"
"He's working on the emitters in Cargo Bay 2 as you ordered," he said.
"Oh," was her reply, then looked up at Bren. "Cargo Bay 2."
"Thank you," Bren replied with a nod and then turned to leave, but then quickly turned
as he remembered what he was supposed to tell her. "Oh, I've been assigned Acting
Engineering Advisor for the time being. I'd like to discuss Unity's Engineering department
with you, but I have an assignment that will take me away from the base for a couple
of days, so that will have to wait for now. Until then you can continue to report to
Colonel PontBrillant. Oh, and I need to borrow Commander Rodgers for the assignment;
I hope you don't mind."
"Of course," Chloe replied.
'You can keep him as long as you want,' she considered adding, but thought better of it.
"Good," Bren grinned, not sure if she appreciated the sentiment. "I'll see you when I get
back then, Commander. Have a good day."
"You too," she said, not really caring one way or the other. = SB Unity - Cargo Bay 2 =

Bren wandered into Cargo Bay 2 looking for Rick a few minutes later. As one of the
hundred-plus cargo bays of the starbase, Cargo Bay looked pretty much like any other,
except traffic through it was a little quieter while the engineers - or in this case, Rick -
was busy working on the emitters. He spotted the former Chief at a maintenance
terminal near the far wall and headed towards him. It was nothing less than a miracle
that he had been able to recover so quick, and Bren was glad to see the engineer back
on duty again.
Rick had the original emitter work finished an hour or so ago and was now making improvements, not only to the emitters but to the cargo bay transporters.
"Commander Rodgers," Bren said as he approached, suddenly wondering if Rick would
remember him. "How are you doing?"
"Commander Ohmsford!" Rick turned and smiled to see the familiar face. "I doing good. And you?"
"I can't complain," Bren replied, glad Rick remembered him. He seemed somehow different,
though Bren couldn't place his finger on exactly why. But it was to be expected there
would be some changes to him after what had happened. "Well, I suppose I can but then
we'd be here all day."
"What I can do for you?" Rick asked, then shook his head. "I mean what ... can ... I ... do
for you?"
"I need your help with an assignment," Bren explained. "About three light years from here
is the Tarangor System. It's an old white dwarf with a planetary nebula that has a derelict
Starfleet outpost stationed there. Along with the outpost is a dockyard that Commodore
Guzman would like to have towed here. I'll need an experienced engineer to help me assess
the condition of both the yard and the outpost. What do you say?"
"Sounds like fun," Rick said, feeling excited about the possibility about such a mission. "When we start?"
"We can be ready to leave in about six hours," Bren said. "We'll be taking the Qashqai. The
Rapier and a tug from the Corps of Engineers will be accompanying us. Six hours enough for
you to get your things together?"
"Plenty time. Commander Utley be glad to get me out her ... of her hair."
"Excellent, I'll see you then commander," Bren grinned.
