[USS Chimera] SD: 240811.25 Joint Duty Log Lt. Worik & 2nd Lt. Nyx

=/\= SB 234 - Unity - Science around Radiation Lab =/\=
Worik was walking along the main close to the radiation lab still thinking about the issues they have. Not everything was solved yet, but he didn't want to bother Terek with it. Kaspersky and Durnell blew five EPS relays with their little power burst and Worik knew that if he told Terek, he'd freak out again. This part of the science department was kind of abandoned still as they lacked the personnel so he was surprised to see a woman when he turned around the corner. He didn't recognize her from any staff meeting they had yet so he assumed she's new. "Hello..." he looked on her collar "lieutenant. Are you looking for something?"

"I'm looking for a Lieutenant Jerom Worik.  He missed an appointment for an evaluation and I was told I could find him here," Mnemosyme replied as she let her hand slid the rest of the way over her phaser.  She had not felt comfortable since she came into this all too quiet section of the starbase.
It was like a flashback. Jerom suddenly remembered  telling himself to go to the evaluation, but in the events of the last weeks it completely got out of his mind. Maybe also because he didn't like the evaluation too much and always thought that it is pointless. If he'd be crazy, everyone would know pretty soon and were certainly sure about it.  Ah yes... ehm..." for a moment he considered denying his name but then he realized how stupid it would be. "I guess that's me... unles there's another red haired half bajoran on the station."
"Not that I'm aware of.  Mnemosyme Nyx," she started introducing herself and tried for a joke, "your executioner."  She gave a small smile and said, "We can do the eval here if it makes you more comfortable... or maybe some where were you could take a break?"
An executioner..." he eyed her from head to heels. She was a little shorter than he was, but she looked in really good shape and the phaser at her waist was with her look a bit intimidating. The word executioner fit for the situation cause if he'd resist she'd stun him and dragged him by his leg to the brig.  "Let's not jump to conclusions. I'll go voluntarily." He smiled back.

"Good... I'm not sure I could drag you all the way to the brig  or the psyc ward."  She lead the way to the closest cafe and hoped it had something good because the scientist before her looked like he'd been skipping meals and missing sleep.
Jerom followed Nyx to the cafe and sat at the table close to the bar. A waiter came shortly after they seated and asked what they want. Jerom was starving. He couldn't remember how many days he was living on coffee only. "You don't mind if I use the opportunity and have something to eat, do you?" he rather asked as he knew that this wasn't just a regular lunch break.
"No go ahead."  She smiled as she thought about how correct her assumptions must have been.
"I'd like a sechuan green beans with noodles please and don't spare the pepper. And tarkelian tea." he looked at Mnemosyme "And you?"
"A ginger tea, please."  She smiled at the waiter as he nodded.  "So, do you like your job," she asked the totally unoriginal question that she was sure the answer to was yes.
"Hmmm..." Jerom pretended to think hard about it. "Few days ago two junior technicians blew couple of EPS relays and I felt like throwing them out of airlock and thinking that I actually could felt good..." then he realized that this might have been too much. "No, I'm just kidding. Surely they really annoyed me because it means more work on this rad lab problem, but still the job is fine."
"Have you been having many problems," she asked more to be polite then because she was interested.
he shrugged: "The standard amount when trying to get a department in shape I guess. What about you? Lot of rouge evaluees like me?"
Always, but I don't mind hunting them down," she finished as their order arrived.  "That was quick."  The waiter just nodded and moved away.  She took a sip of her tea allowing Jerom to taste his food.
Grabbing a fork rather than chopsticks he took a mouthful of his green beans. {Holy cow, they certainly didn't spare the pepper} he thought as he felt that he was turning a bit red and slowly a mist appeared on his forehead. He put the fork down and took a sip of his tea. "So what do you want to know for your evaluation then?"
"Well.. all I really need to know now Is If you like your superior," she said but guessed that he did or he wouldn't work so hard and think that it was no big deal.
"Well, frankly, commander Terek is my friend and I don't mind working under his supervision. Moreover he's been through a lot since he returned so if it's in my power, I'm trying to help where I can." then he realized how that might have sound. "No... not that he's not doing his duties or anything. Just trying to... you know what I mean." he waved with his fork and then put another bite in his mouth.
"I'll let you quit while you're ahead," she responded and drank some more of her tea.

[USS Chimera] SD 240811.25 || 1TF Tactical Advisor || Capt Chisulo ||

[Tactical Advisor's Office - SB 234: UNITY]

Chisulo sequestered himself in his dark office off to the side of the base's Situation Room. He was accessing SSF Research and Devlopment's database and searching for weapons upgrades that would be beneficial to the station, as per the Commodore's orders.

True, this task was more mundane than the Captain's recent incursion into Romulan space. Chisulo led four 1TF ships into comabt at Khasazi Pass and captured a Romulan Research outpost. Researching new weapons systems was a little less action-packed, but it did intrigue the Tactical advisor.

He found several systems he wanted to implement into UNITY's defense network:

1) Auto-targetting Point-Defense Phaser Arrays for use in missile/torpedo defense.

2) Auto-targetting Dual Pulse phaser cannons that are programmed to target the nearest enemy vessel. These are integral in a fight where multiple enemy fighter craft are engaged with the station.

3) Shield Reinforcement Deflector pulse to aid the defending vessels.

All three systems were experimental systems that were scheduled to be tested on the Century Class prototype vessels. Those vessels were recomissioned into a combat role 6 months ago with the start of the war, and the destructions of the Manticore and Chimera.

Chisulo would need help from Engineering in setting up a network of pulse phaser turrets and tactical deflectors throughout UNITY's hull. The schemtatics for the devices were already int he database, but he needed a plan. He delegated the task to Lieutenant Garrison in the tactical labs to come up with te most effecient scheme, and then went on to compiling his report to Commodore Guzman and LtColonel PontBrillant.

After a cup of rooibos tea, Chisulo sat back down at his desk and set up the patrol schedule for the following day. The USS Hindenburg's two squadrons were splitting up the patrol duty within the Aeran sector with SB Unity's own squadrons. The workload was so that UNITY got 00:00 to 12:00 and the HIndenburg worked from 12:00 to 24:00. This left patrols outside the system to the luna class USS Amalthea and the Akira class USS Akira. The USS Qashqai remained on call.

Chisulo typed up his tactical report, and then left for dinner in the mess hall.

[USS Chimera] SD:240811.25, Duty Log, MCap Joeleco 283

-=- Starbase 234 - UNITY -=-

"For those of you just arrived, welcome to Bravo Company, Starfleet

Special Forces 1st Task Force, Expeditionary Force, my name is

Captain Joeleco Two-Eighty-Three."

Joeleco looked the new draft of troopers over. There were two platoons

were of new arrives which finally meant that hir company was up to

full strength, and it only took six months. Actually Joeleco could not

complain as s/he now had more troopers than a standard company.

It would have been impossible for someone to tell which were the

new arrives as they were all standing in the formation at parade rest

and they were a combination of mixed uniforms and ranks but they were

completely unarmed as was standard for personnel while the station

was at a 'green' status, however they looked very out of place as

everyone else including Joeleco were armed with their rifles over

their shoulders and side arms on their hips. Joeleco had hid a grin when

they had seen all the other members of the company armed and likely

wondered if they were going into combat, although the lack of armour

and grenades should have hinted that they were not.

Joeleco had already looked up the troopers '201s', and s/he was

generally satisfied. S/he had a couple of had cases, including one

Petty Officer that had been a Chief not once but twice, and there

was a Sergeant that had been part of The Stand six months ago but

had been on leave ever since. But mostly they were good troops

on paper. When s/he had got done with them they would be great

troops. Now for the lecture, so that they would be absolutely clear

were the company commander stood.

"For those of you, most of you, who have not been in combat

against the Romulans, you are not ready. For those of you who

have been in combat against the Romulans, you are not ready. If

an SSF Expedition Force is called into a fight it means one of two

things. One, the mission is considered impossible for regular marines

or ground-pounders or, two, that federation forces have already

been overwhelmed and we are being sent to plug the gap. We will

always be outnumbered and often surrounded. Thus the way you

will fight the Romulans, the way we will fight the Romulans, is

brutally simple. Get a good position, hunker down, call for all the

fire support possible and kill as many as you can until you are

almost overwhelmed, then move to the next position as fast as

you can and do it all again."

At the back of the formation Joeleco could see slight and wiry

Petty Officer 3rd Class Nathan Trapp looking over the group. He

was one of six 'UFOP Space, Air and Land Forces' - Also

known as SEALS - on the Chimera - B. The six Seals had killed

triple their own number in that final battle but Trapp was the only

one out of the six that managed to make it off the Chimera alive,

he had done so dragging the injured Joeleco the last two decks.

He was not yet rated high enough to be the senior NCO of the

company but that was were Joeleco wanted him, until then he was

the company scout leader, and Joeleco suspected that he was

doing the same thing as Joeleco, scanning the group and wondering

where their losses would come from. The tall guy in first Platoon?

The sexy blond Corporal in second? That new Sergeant who had been

away for six months? New Guy? Old? Joeleco nodded internally and

went on.

"While you are with this Company, your only thought should be to

kill Romulan troops. If you love your family, put them out of your

mind. I have a son. Expect for a small compartment deep within myself,

I could care less. I live, breathe and eat solely to kill Romulans."

Joeloce inhaled deeply, s/he could not wait to get into combat.

"Remember, you are no longer Airborne or Marine or Seal or Strike,

you are Special Forces Expeditionary Force. You may respond

'Airborne' or 'Semper Fi' as you wish, but remember, the persons

you are training with, whether they came from the same background

as you or not, will be the people you will be fighting with. Six

months ago this station was defended by a rag tag mix of Federation

personnel, this unit embodies their spirit and you will not betray

that spirit. We have fifty tw…. fifty three members of 'two hundred'

that made a stand here six months ago, you will notice them by the

gold 200 pin on their collar. They are elite, mean and they kill

Romulans for fun, and so will you. I expect nothing less than one

hundred percent of your mind body and soul, you all will have heard

that before, but do not fuck with me. Play games with me and I

will have you transferred to a prison-unit so fast that the paper

work will take a year to catch up. You all volunteered to be here,

if you want out say so and it will be acted upon."

Joeleco took a deep breath, "one final word, we are at war. We

could be deployed within thirty minutes notice and we might have

to defend this station at the drop of a hat. Everyone is to be

constantly armed. Go nowhere unarmed, if you are lucky enough

to get laid, your rifle had better have a good view of the action." That

was always good for a laugh but the sentiment was very real.

"Officers fall into my office at twenty-one hundred hours.

Dismissed.!" Joeleco straightened hir uniform, now for the hard

part a meeting with the Hermit Ambassador. Joeleco strolled over

to Trapp thinking that s/he might need some help for this one….

[USS Chimera] SD: 240811.25 Duty Log 2ndLt. Mnemosyme Nyx

=/\= SB 234 - Unity - Various Places =/\=
Mnemosyme was up early and part way through her normal regiment of warm up calisthenics, a run and then cool down calisthenics.  This morning, however, she adjusted her routine to include an extra 28 minutes.  She had finished up her run and was most of the way through her cool down routine when a corporal walked up to her and began repeating her movements as if he was a part of her daily ritual too.

"Hi, how's it going," he asked cheerily.

Nym just nodded and continued.

"Do you do this everyday?"

Nym rolled her eyes as she did a toe touch that had her looking at the mat she was exercising on.  She gave a small shrug as she continued with the next stretch and lean to the right bending a bit at the waist.

He went on to the next question, "You have great form when you run.  Do you have other rituals that I could help you with?"

{I wish I was wearing my phaser and could stun you at the moment} she thought but shook her head instead as she stretched to the left this time.

"Do any weight training?  Have a special high powered breakfast?"

She just tried totally ignoring his last couple of questions as she finished up her last exercise.  When she finished and was beginning to walk away the corporal asked his last question, "Are you always so silent?"

"I don't talk during my workout," she quipped before hitting the showers.

=/\= An Hour Later - Psychiatric Ward =/\=
Mnemosyme was looking over Mr. Snacdok's chart, the report filed by Commander Wellington and the security report.  {Funny with what's here I probably would have chosen delusional.  I can't imagine anyone running through the arboretum yelling, "I'm The Rattler and I will snake out all the evil plots.... I know who you are.  At least the commander didn't miss the part where he's a danger to himself and others.}  She observed how the patient was doing but didn't expect it to be much different yet as it had only been about 36 hours since he was given his first dose of medication.  {I hate rounds...... and I hate Jacobs for assigning them to me.}

Nym noted that Mr. Snacdok was no longer agitated.  On the chart she wrote remove restrains, keep under lock down and continue current medication regiment.  She moved on to the next and the next until, she had completed the boring task.
