[USS Chimera] SD: 240902.12 NPC Log Part 1, Rowan, Constantine, Nerso

=/\= Promenade - Security Office =/\=

Rowan sat next to Constantine in front a small screen.  Brian had gotten a Lassie Movie and had sat down next Rowan, who still scooted closer to Con.  She took a bite of her hot dog that was covered with onions and ketchup and smiled up at Con as she chewed.  AS the movie began Rowan took another bite of her hot dog and one of the other guards had joined in watching the movie.

"I haven't seen this one yet," stated Joe.  "Have you made the popcorn?"

Leaning a bit more toward Con, "Popcorn," Rowan asked.

Con handed over a bowl and said "Yes here, its a snack food made from a staple food crop on Earth.  It's tasty, try some?"  Con knew he had to earn some trust with Rowan before questioning her.

Rowan stuck her hand in the bowl and then pulled it out empty, "Its greasy..... b..but it smells good."  She bit her lip and looked at the dog on the small screen.

"Sounds like you're talking about a KFC."  Con held up his free hand to forestall another question.  "I'll explain what that is later."

Joe asked "What about drinks?  Want a soda or a float?"
Rowan blinked at Joe, looked at Brian for a couple of seconds before turning her gaze to Constantine.  "Float?"  {I hope that's the right answer.}  She put her hand back in the put corn bowl and pulled out a couple of pieces.  She examined them carefully before putting them in her mouth.  "Its salty and there's butter on it."  The screen seemed to bark at her and her gaze fell back to the screen.

"Orange soda for me Joe."  Con replied then refocused his attention on Rowan "You know I originally came here to work construction on this station.  I guess I must have liked it as I've been here almost twenty years.  So what about you ?  What brings you to our station?"
"Momma is sick .... really sick,"  Rowan said and took another bite of hot dog.

"Do you think we should feed her a fruit or vegetable," Brian asked as Joe returned with drinks.
"Sick how?"  Con asked.
"In bed... how's come you didn't say a k...ka...nine was a dog," Rowan asked and then added, "they watch the sheep."
"I didn't want you to think I was feeding you Lassie.  Where is your momma?" Con asked with concern.
"At home," Rowan answered.  Taking a sip of the float she was confused for a second.  {Creamy and fizzy and.... good.}

There was a loud knocking on the door that seemed to startle them for a moment. Outside the door a tall lanky grey haired man stood with one hand impatiently on his waist as the other checked the chronometer on his wrist. His name was Constable Nerso, and he was in charge of Promenade Security on UNITY long before the Federation turned her over to the First Taskforce. He was one of the first settlers on Aeran III, having moved there a little under 150 years ago, back when it was a small farming settlement. He advocated for the building of the station to improve the colony's economy, and spent his time since it's construction as it's Chief of Promenade Security.

Now, however, the old hermit El-Aurian was checking up on one of his officers who didn't report in after his patrol. Normally it wouldn't be a big deal, but after the assassination of some Starfleet big wig Nerso had been forced to step up Security Protocol. Constantine would know this, he'd been around long enough.

Con had to suppress a wince when he noticed his boss standing in the doorway.  He wasn't the type who particularly liked being out of the loop for very long...which was more than likely why he was the Chief.

Rowan's eyes were large as show looked over the new comer who had made the room seem very small and quiet.  She swallowed the last bit of her hot dog as she leaned in toward Constantine and whispered, "Scary."

"Tell me about it, that's my boss.  Watch the movie with Joe for a minute whilst I go over there and talk to him.  I'll be right back."  Con said quietly back before getting up, patting her on the head and walking over to his boss.

[USS Chimera] 240902.12 | Tarangor Mission | Duty Log, Cdr Rick Rodgers

=NX Detector=

"You still sure you up to this?" Rick asked as he watched Jo,
who was laying halfway inside a hatch next to the door of
what was becoming known as the "mystery room".

"I'll have it open in a few minutes," she replied.

"That what you said almost two hours ago," Rick leaned back
against the opposite bulkhead with his arms and legs crossed.
"We not have all day."

"If you'd quit bugging me about it, then I'd already have it
open," she shot back. "I told you, I can unlock or unseal any
door. Though I have to admit, this Trevor Wright seemed to
be pretty intent in not allowing anyone in here."

"If you get this door open, then I going to have security keep
extra eye on you," Rick said.

"Quit distracting me already!" she yelled out.

"Soooorrrrry," Rick replied, glancing at one of the two Qashqai
security crewmen.

"We could have easily used phasers," one of the crewmen said.

"We have no idea what in there. Not taking chance," Rick said.

After a few more minutes, Rick was about to pester Jo again
when she shouted out, "There, got it!"

Just then, the door opened a few centimeters.

"Give me hand," Rick said to one of the crewmen. They each
grabbed one of the doors and slowly pulled it open. After a few
seconds, they had it open enough to enter.

The first thing Rick noticed was that it was dark. The light from
the corridor was not illuminating the room enough.

"Lights," Rick said, but the room remained dark, so he looked
around with his hand held light for a switch of some sort. When
he found on, he hesitantly activated it, not knowing what would
happen.

The lights came on and Rick allowed for a moment for his eyes
to adjust. When they did, he noticed that the room was almost
empty. The exception was an object in the center of the room.
Rick walked up to the object and knelt next to it.

As Rick studied the object, which was twice the height and width
of a standard torpedo, he didn't notice that Grey Richards, the
captain of the Jameson, had beamed near the doorway, just
outside of the room.

As he entered, he looked around at the others.

"Would you please leave Commander Rodgers and myself alone,"
he asked, but could have easily been interpreted as an order.

The security crewmen slowly walked out, but Jo remained
standing next to Rick.

Rick finally realized that he was looking at and looked up at Jo.

"Leave us, Jo," Rick said softly.

"But ..."

"Jo, this one time, please ..."

She nodded and followed the security crewmen. Richards then
had the door closed.

"I was hoping you wouldn't be able to get the door open," the
elderly man said. "But I should have expected it."

Rick stood, but still did not make eye contact, "Expect the
unexpected Captain Richards, or should I just call you Mr.
Wright?"

[USS Chimera] SD 240902.11 || Battle Log || Part One ||

[Bridge - Deck 1 - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C]

"Helm, bearing zero-nine-four, mark one-two-seven." Rojac ordered. "Let's take down these battleships." Rojac said. He hoped that the security teams on the outpost were fairing as well as the Chimera.

The red track lighting around the ceiling continued to cast its eerie glow on the busied crew below as they targetting the Chimera's state-of-the-art systems on her new foes.

"Aye sir." Came the reply from the bajoran-betazoid helm officer, Lieutenant Rayna Dior - who's skills Rojac was finally becoming comfortable with. "Course set and engaging. One minute to weapons range."

"Lt Howard, open a channel to Lancer One, quarter screen." Rojac ordered.

Michael hit the buttons and put the channel in the bottom right corner of the screen, "Aye sir, channel open."

A box showing the portrait of Marine Captain Anya Xerxes in full flight gear appeared in the lower right-hand corner of the Chimera's view screen. "Captain, give me a status report."

"Within Lancer Squadron itself, Verteron Missile reserves are down to 48, that may sound like a lot but remember they pack far less of a punch than the bigger Torpedoes. Gattling rounds are healthy at about two-thirds reserve and Quantum Missiles are expended. Ghost Flight remains fully loaded with Verteron Torpedoes. Damage wise, well within tolerance levels. Much more of this though and we'll be Winchester real soon." Anya said as she pulled the info from the readout screen in her cockpit.

"Give me some options for engagement." Rojac said. "We have thirty seconds until weapons range, so make it quick."

"Knock down a hole in Warbird Three's shields large enough to get a fighter through at speed. I'll take in my Lancers and we'll keep 'em off your backs. After the first attack change target to Warbird Four, focus on knocking out their engines and Ghost Flight can finish them off. Then come back and help us finish off Warbird Three. That's about the big and small of it." Anya said quickly wishing to hell R&D had given her time to work on updated weaponry for the Lancers too.

"It might be worth it to try and take out their power core," Natalia noted. "Romulan singularity drives are not the most stable.'

"Ten seconds, Captain!" Lt Rayna shouted over her shoulder. The anxiety was prevalent in her voice.

Jade was still working on making sure their were no holes in the shield after that was done she moved onto checking weapons targeting it would only take her a little over ten seconds, but by that time they would be needing to fire on the enemy.

"Alright." Rojac said, nodding. "We'll take down their dorsal shields with a barrage from our ventral arrays. Cover our ventral section and pounce from their once the door is opened. Then we'll move onto the next target. Xerxes, try and take out that drive."

"Once more into the breach dear freinds?" Anya asked rhetorically.

The Captain turned to Tactical and the new Lieutenant stationed there. "Howard, make sure our aim is true on this one. We need this shot to put considerable strain on their shields on the first shot. High concentration on the targeting. Narrow-beam." He turned to Reese at Operations, "Reese, he'll need more power to the phaser arrays. Give it to him. Borrow from dorsal shields if you have to. Let's just hope the Lancers will keep their fighters of our backs."

The ship shuddered from light weapons fire, and light craft zoomed past the viewscreen.

"Weapons range, Captain!" Lt Rayna shouted.

"Captain, we have six Romulan fighters firing. Three above and three below," Michael warned.

"Minimal damage," Natalia reported. "But that last hit affected environmental system. Ventilation coolant is leaking in several sections."

Rojac pointed to the Bridge officer working the Engineering Console at the rear of the bridge. "Get damage control on it now. Helm, prepare for sweep on warbird three and engage!" Rojac ordered.

"Lancer Squadron form up line formation and prepare to skin dance." Anya ordered her squadron.

The Chimera swooped down on the new Romulan Tahl'Rax class warbird, <<OOC link:http://startrekmeshes.com/startrek/romulan/tahlrax/800x600/tahlrax001.jpg>> her targetting sensors locked on the bird's dorsal shields. In response to the Chimera's charge, the vessel veered slightly downward and trained it's dorsal disruptors onto the approaching Federation vessel. The green blasts struck the Chimera's fore shields, which dispersed them with minimal damage.

"Shields down 2% and holding," Natalia read out the damage report.

Michael kept his hand trained above the trigger for the front phaser banks and waited, "Captain, when should I fire?"

"At 500 meters, Lieutenant." Rojac called over his shoulder. "We're only getting on shot at this. If we miss one of our fighters dies."

"Aye Sir." Michael said.

Anya readied her trigger finger on the control stick. If things went pear shaped she was going out firing.

"Three, two, ONE!" Lieutenant Dior called from the helm, moments before veering off the collision course and pulling up to give Howard's ventral phasers a prime shot. Michael's hand came down on the console and he watched as the red line stretched from the Chimera to the warbird, scoring a hit.

"Afterburners now!" Anya shouted and deployed hers accelerating rapidly towards the supposed hole in the Romulan shields. She pulled the trigger and her dual pulse phaser cannons fired splashing against the Romulan hull. "Lancers, party venue is open be sure to bring some beer. Fun targets are weapons arrays, maneouvring thrusters and impulse engines, split to allocated targets. Party time, everybody dance!" Upon her last sentence Anya fed through a little of the pounding music that filled her cockpit to the squadron. First up was Song 2 by Blur. "Alright people we got two minutes get to work!"

"Shields down another 2% and falling," Natalia reported. "Sections affected by the coolant leak are being sealed off and personnel have been taken to Sickbay. Engineering reports a slight fluctuation in the warp core."

Rojac felt his jaw tighten.

"Captain, warbird 4 is directly behind us and closing in," Michael said.

Reese worked her magic as she worked on finding some power to bolster the shields deciding to take some power from the holosuites and replicators. It wasn't a lot, but it would give enough to bolster the shields. And right now those systems weren't being used, knowing that everyone was at battle stations.

"Captain!" Ra-Zerphimi called from the science station. "I'm picking up a Federation transponder! Its the D'Artagan!"

"Where?" Rojac called over. But it was soon answered by the shimmering image on the view screen.

"Decloak and engage target Beta!", screamed Moïra Henry, from her command chair. Her pulse was racing and she felt the exaltation of the adrenaline. The USS D'Artagnan appeared in empty space and engaged itself in a serious dog fight, where torpedos and blasters are firing in, making the dark sky suddently iluminated by an unhappy firework. The bird was suprised by that move, and engaged in evasive manoeuvers, while the D'Artagnan had to reposition itself.

"Hello Chimera, care if we join you?", Moïra said, smiling.

[USS Chimera] SD:240902.11 Joint Duty Log, Lt JG Gustav Kroitzer & 1st Lt Jade Reese

Paul Howorth <palsh963@gmail.com> wrote to chimera@ucip.org:

=/\= ODCC, USS Chimera – C =/\=

Gustav was in the turbolift heading for the ops departments Command
and Control as ordered by his CEO, he also ordered him to take it slow
but Gustav knew that as an engineer he might have more chance roller
skating up Everest than being able to take it slow.

The turbolift slowed and let Gustav off, stepping into the busy ops
department he managed to stop a passing ensign to ask where the Chief
Ops Officer was, the ensign pointed to a familiar face standing by a
large screen looking over some data, Gustav headed over to 1st Lt Jade
Reese after thanking the ensign 'damn there is a lot of ensigns on
board' he thought to himself.

"Run that simulation again." Jade said to her DCOps, "damn alright
let's try adjusting the frequency by .5." Jade said hoping that would
do it, but that's what she thought of the last ten adjustments.

As he approached Reese, Gustav cleared his throat so not to surprise
her as she was busy and said "Lt JG Kroitzer reporting as ordered
sir".

"Alright send the adjustments up to the ops on the bridge and have
them input it." Jade said turning around and almost running into an
Engineer. "Excuse me." Jade said, "What can I do for you?" Jade asked
the Engineer not knowing why he was down here.

"Lt Cmdr Scardona ordered me here to help out with the transporter
program you are working on" Gustav replied a little surprised that
Reese didn't know he was coming.

"Right I believe that I saw a memo saying you were coming down to
help." Jade said shaking her head it's been a long day dealing with
minor inconveniences with the cloak and shields. But finally they were
all dealt with and now she could concentrate on the major project. "If
you would follow me I'll show you what I have so far." Jade said
walking into the simulation room, which they used mainly to see what
certain adjustments would do to other systems.

As Gustav followed the Lt he kept his eyes darting from screen to
screen just briefly catching glimpses of readouts of the entire ship,
he was dumbfounded at the sheer amount of screens in the ops
department.

Once they were in the simulation room Jade hit a few buttons and a 3D
image of the outpost popped up in the middle of the table. Just as
Jade was going to speak a Ensign walked in, "here's a memo ma'am." The
Ensign said and handed her a PADD.

"Thank you." Was all Jade said as she read the memo, "will a change in
plan instead of four teams of four it's going to be four teams of
two." Jade said rubbing her brow. "It's just your luck you get help us
re-write the program to match four man teams of two." Jade said
smiling as she took a seat and slid the memo to the Lt JG.

Gustav Looked over the memo on the PADD then put it down sliding it
back to Reese, with a almost sly smile he said "Ok, I think I'll be
able to help you out there" adding "first I'll need access to a
terminal as well as access to the transporter program it self".

"Alright I'll have work with Ensign Baco and LtJg Dexter on this and
then I'll be working on a fail safe for the program." Jade said
standing up, "I'll send in your worker buddies." Jade said smiling.

"Great, I'll get started ASAP" he said just glad to be back on duty.
