[USS Chimera] SD240811.24 =/\= Duty Log =/\= LtCol V. PontBrillant
[USS Chimera] Sd 240811.24. SB Unity. Personal log. Cmdr Wellington / Stephen Jacobs
*** Restaurant 'Serendipity' * SB Unity ***
Stephen Jacobs was sitting on a tall stool leaning against
the bar with a half empty glass in one hand. He liked
'people watching', in fact it was one of his favourite
pastimes.
He liked to think he could learn a lot about them
by their actions both sober and, though rarely in this
establishment, drunk.
His eye was drawn to a newcomer, a tall slender woman
with a cascade of dark curls falling over her shoulders,
who stood for a moment in the doorway before walking
confidently to a table and sitting down alone.
Stephen took a drink from his glass, keeping his eyes
on her as he did so, well aware that he wasn't the only
one to have noticed her. She was, he
thought, certainly worth noticing for he had rarely seen
such a naturally beautiful woman.
Athena picked a quiet table where she had agreed to met
Viktor, if he didn't have to rush off. She sat down and
when the waiter arrived she placed her order. She ordered a
drink with a suggestive name and the waiter turned red but
nodded as he walked away to get the requested beverage.
Stephen noticed the encounter with interest and deciding he
would like to know who this woman was and where she had come
from, he took another drink from his glass, hopped off his
stool and criss-crossed between the tables until he arrived
at the one she occupied.
" May I take this seat? he asked "The place is rather full."
He waved his hand vaguely to encompass the whole room.
"Unless you're waiting for someone that is." he added.
"I am waiting for someone and If you thought this place was
so full .... why did you give up your seat at the bar,"
Athena asked never saying that he couldn't sit. Most people
usually under estimate what she took in at a glance and she
never understood why.
"Because, as you must know, you are a very intriguing
character and I wanted to speak to you." He sat down
opposite her, a smile behind his eyes.
"I didn't realize I was a character and what genre do I come
from," she inquired while thinking {presumptuous...} isn't
he.
Her drink arrived and she smiled at the waiter and took
a sip as she let her attention fall back to her unexpected
visitor.
"You attract attention yet feign surprise when it visits
you." he replied
and raising his hand to attract the waiters attention said :
"Same again please." when the waiter was close enough to
hear.
Athena took a large swallow of her drink savoring it as she
swallowed it down little bits at a time. Her eyes briefly
scanned the door as well as the rest of the room before
coming back to her uninvited guest.
"Javier," she said
calling the waiter to a halt, "save yourself a trip and
bring me another as well." With a nod the waiter was off
and running.
Stephen noticed the glance towards the door and how it
subtly changed when she observed the room. He noticed a
split second attention on a table set behind him and also
how she appeared to have avoided looking at him although he
knew she was aware that he watched her.
"Why do you avoid me?" he asked.
"I'm sorry, I was looking for the someone I mentioned
earlier." She took another sip of her drink as she looked
over the interesting features of her table partner. "Do you
often join strangers, she asked giving him the full impact
of her attention, icy blue eyes and exaggerated attention.
"It has been known." he replied then glanced up at the
waiter who had returned to them and placed a glass in front
of each. Stephen nodded thanks, lifted his glass and took a
drink. "Do you?" he asked, setting it down again.
"No, I find it usually causes problems," she said and
finished her first drink.
" It depends on who you approach." he replied and eyed the
empty glass
she held. " I won't offer to buy you a drink." he said
"Fiances don't always appreciate
it, especially those new to the job"
He took a gulp from his own glass.
"Commander," someone addressed Athena, and she turned to
look at them. The starfleet officer continued, "I just
wanted to thank you for that program of meditation you
suggested... I'm sleeping so much better."
"Glad to hear that.." Athena grasped for the woman's name as
she smiled and finished, "Shalla." Athena watched a the
woman for another moment of two as she made her way through
the crowd. The counselor then directed her attention back
to the man in front of her as she set down her empty glass.
"Are fiances considered new to the job if they've been a
fiance before," she asked a bit curious at what the answer
might be.
" A good question Commander Wellington." he replied. He
gave her a disarming smile and got to his feet. " ..But if
you don't mind I think I won't dare to ruffle the feathers
of this particular one."
He downed the remaining liquid in
his glass, gave a small bow with his head and walked off
towards the door.
{Dr. Jacobs... I presume} she thought as she watched him
walk off, very happy indeed that the other counselor didn't
want to tango with Viktor.
Stephen had been interested to see what Athena was like. He
had suspected it was she when he approached the table and
the glittering ring had confirmed it.
{Ivanov} he thought as he merged into the crowds on the
promenade {well well....}

The large unknown warp signature and its three smaller compatriots dropped out of warp and cruised towards SB 234 at a steady pace. Their sleek black, angular hulls slid effortlessly against the dark outline of space. The foremost of the small shapes to rush towards them was a pair of previously unseen fighters for the crew of the largest black ship.
From the lead fighter with the forward swept wings and the dark purple to light purple fade with two symetrically opposing lightning flashes the signal on the open frequency came "Good to see you again Hermes all be it in a new guise." On a more secure channel to the Starbase went "This is Captain Xerxes reporting in. Contacts confirmed friendly. 5th Generations EAS Hermes, Herakles, Pegasus and Prometheus inbound to Unity. Moving to escort them in."

Athena tried to calm her dark and racing thoughts but every new thought not only brought a heavy beat of a drum resounding through her head but made her heat ache just a little bit more. She rocked herself hoping that would help soothe her soul but only managed to make her feel slightly nauseous. The chime of the door sounded more like a gong in her head. She wiped her face and took a couple of deep breaths preparing for the bad news that had to be at the door. {Only bad news comes at this time of night.} Harbright's words ran through her head once more. {Probably a telegram bring telling me....}
Viktor entered through the door to find the owner of the broken voice standing shaking on the other side of the doorway. Her eyes were red and puffy indicating she had been crying. Crying tears although of sadness or relief Viktor couldn't originally tell. When she didn't make the move Viktor advanced and wrapped her in his arms reassuring her "It's alright I'm here now." just as he once did with his baby daughter almost four years ago.
Her whole body shook with his words and her hands made her way up his chest as if examining every inch of him. "Vik...," her voice shook as her arms went around his neck and she buried her face in his neck.

[USS Chimera] ||SB 234|| CO's Duty Log, Commo. Shane Guzman
======= Conference room one, SB 234
======
Shane listened to all the reports without any questions or
remarks. When the last report ended, Shane looked at all the
assembled officers and said: "Thank you ladies and
gentleman. I arrived just a few hours ago, so I will
definitely need more time to settle down and get an
impression of the picture. I will talk with every single of
you some later and we shall go over each department in more
detail. Since that, please consult all daily operations with
Colonel DuPont. He's both Task Force Deputy CO and
Unity's XO and he has my full trust.
He waited for a moment before adding: "For the time being,
we have three priorities. The top one is Security. We are @
war and this station is a vital point of operation for both
Starfleet and SSF and so a high level target for our enemy.
Turning to Chisulo, Shane said: "Captain, I want you to
prioritize what tactical systems will suit us best and began
with the installations immediately. Engineering will help
you with this."
Slightly sighing, Shane went on : "With the current
condition of Commander Rodgers, I need someone else to take
over Engineering till we find a permanent replacement.
Colonel DuPont, you are hereby put in charge of Unity's
Engineering. Please coordinate with Captain Chisulo all
necessary."
Other point is internal security. Not only the case of
Commander Rodgers, but a dozen more security reports on my
desk confirm that internal security is a big issue on this
station. I asked a friend of mine … and a skilled security
officer to take over the role of Task Force Expeditionary
Force Commander as well as Unity's Chief Security officer.
It's Marine Captain Joeleco 283 … some of you know him
from the time he served on the Chimera. He will take care of
internal security, but he will need support from tactical
and intel, so Captain and Commander …" Shane looked at
Chisulo and Harbright, "please help him as much as
possible."
Looking at Rangi, Shane said: "Our second priority is
medical. With the ongoing war, there will be many
causalities and we are the best and only spot for large
numbers of patients to be treated. I am glad that our
infirmary is almost full functional. Commander Summers, you
have my authority to use every single bit of resources not
needed by tactical and security for your needs."
Looking away from Rangi, Shane looked at Terek and went on:
"Our third priority is resources. I hoped that SSF will
provide us with whatever resources we shall need, but cause
of the war, resources are valuable and we wont get as many
of them as needed. Therefore … we need to find own
resources. Commander Terek, you're task is it to search
this system for suitable resources. There is a small colony
in the polar region on Aeran III … go there, talk with the
miners and if possible, make them to double their
production. Old sensor logs of this system suspect one or
two sources of dilithium … maybe in the asteroid belt.
Take the Qashqai and search for that dilithium"
"As far Fleet operation in this sector, I have no comments
so far, I need to learn far more about the situation before
I issue any orders. That means that you, Captain Chisulo
please continue doing what you do".
"The same applies to Intel. Commander Harbright, go on
with your own agenda … you know what we need most …
information about enemy movement along our borders.
Nonetheless it is important to know what other powers think
about this war and if they do … we need to know what side
they will aid. Preferably … before someone attacks us
unexpected. The Erassians are powerful in Intel … and
since we have an MDP now … squeeze as much as possible
from their sources. Without actual Intel, we are like
blind."
"if there are no questions …" Shane paused,
"you're dismissed. If anyone want to talk to me in
private, stay here …"
