[USS Chimera] SD 240908.07 | Joint Log | Col. Langhorn & 2Lt. Merau

=/\= Marine Flight Deck – SB UNITY =/\=
Colonel Alexia Langhorn was far from impressed at this, the most recent transfer she’d received from General Sharpe’s office, for one of her new pilots. It was hardly a secret that this Lieutenant Merau was sleeping with the General. Last thing she wanted was the General’s play thing in her outfit.

Chloe was dressed in uniform, her long blonde hair was pulled up into a tight brade. She had spent the night in her new quarters she shared with General Richard Sharpe, and now was on her way to finding Colonel Alexia Langhorn whom she had to report to. Finding her office, she chimed the door then waited with her hands held lightly behind her back.

“Come in!” Came the feminine voice.

Chloe came in, then went to attention. "Lt Chloe Merau reporting in." She said with out saying anything else. She looked the woman over, who was a good deal older than her, tring to size her up. She wasn't stured by her raised voice before she came in.

Alexia eyed the woman up and down, taking in her appearance. She could see why she was the General’s bed toy, but it didn’t make it any easier. “As you were, Lieutenant.” She said, crisply. “So, you’re General Sharpe’s tart, are you?”

"Im not sure what you mean, Ma'am." Chloe sounded like she wasn't upset at least by Alexia's words.

“I’m sure you do.” She said. “So, what makes you think you can fly in my outfit, Lieutenant? I don’t just let anyone in here you know.”

"I know I can fly in 'your outfit' because of what I already know of what I have done." Chloe said with a smile. She could play at her game.. "I've served at the testing grounds in 001, and I've also served aboard the USS Enterprise-G." Chloe was still holding her hands behind her back her head was held very high. "And both places I came and went on my own accord.."

Alexia got up from behind her desk, walked over to Chloe and looked at her in the face. “You’ll have to prove yourself to me, Lieutenant.” She said, firmly. “I only take the best.”

Chloe didn't flinch at Alexia being so close to her, keeping her ground. "What ever test you throw at me I can pass. I don't doubt that and anyone you ask who knows me wouldn't doubt it."

Alexia smiled a sinister smile. “Any test huh?” She said, and cupped one of Chloe’s breasts and placed her other hand on her behind.

Chloe reacted quickly throwing an arm up pushing it aginst her chest pushing Alexia so she was against the desk. "If you want to test me, test my flying skills. But Im not going to play any games with you."

“Fantastic!” Alexia exclaimed. “Well, you’ve disproved my initial theory about you.” She grinned. “Welcome to the 501st.” She extended a hand.

Chloe was somewhat shocked. Shaking Alexia's hand. "Your still going to just have wait and see that I can actually fly." She said with a tart smile.

“Well, Sharpe said you could fly, but I needed to know what kind of a person you were.” She said. “The kind who folds to a situation or the kind that would go the hard way to win.”

"I don't fold." Chloe told her firmly. "And what every the General says about me you can trust as true." Chloe's abildy to keep her professional life and personal life seperate was hard, but she obviously did it.

“We shall see.” She said. “You’re to fly in Major Razak’s squadron. We’re wheels up at 0900 for the mission.”

"We shall see then." Chloe noded her head, then waited for her to be dismissed.

“Carry on.” Alexia said, smiling.

Chloe left Alexia's office, somewhat confused at the whole affare. Walking down the hall she went into a turbolift to call for the quarters her and Richard shared.

Richard made his way down towards Shao's ship, having come straight here
from the Chimera. It was important that Shao get her new unit together
quickly for Captain Rojac. Making his way past the airlock, he entered the
ship, and called out "Major Shao?"

"Just invite yourself in, I dont mind in the slightest," Dare walked down
the length of the small ship towards him with a smirk. "General, to what
do I owe this pleasure? Did you get past my armed gaurd unscathed?" As
she spoke, she bowed her head and removed one of her contacts before
looking back to him with one normal grey eye and one completely white one.

The damn thing had been irritating her the whole day and to hell with it
if she had company when she took it out.

"I managed once I told the guard who I was." He said. "I'm here to tell
you you're not confined to this ship anymore, and further, that I have
orders for you."

Dare quirked an eyebrow. "I certainly hope Lieutenant Mumacik has been
told about this. I'd hate to have to injure one of his men when they get
in the way of me completing my orders." She truly would regret having to
hurt someone while they did their duty, but if she had orders and they got
in the way...well, she'd do whatever was needed to make sure she completed
her orders.

"I wouldn't worry about Mumacik for a while." Richard said. "I'm sending
you and your platoon on the USS Chimera. You're to support Captain Rojac's
mission in the Stellar Nursery."

The marine woman tilted her head slightly. "Is trouble expected within
the Stellar Nursery?"

"Well, since intelligence suggests that this is a major Romulan staging
area for their attacks into the Federation, I would assume so, yes."
Richard said. "We also believe that there's a base of some kind in there.
Your primary assignment is to infiltrate the base and download the
computer core."

"Hmm." She turned and headed back towards the end of her small ship. On
a desk was a file of folders, personnel records. She flicked through
them, pulling out a few. "System specialist, infiltration specialist,
tactician." She offered them to Richard. "I need these guys, they're the
best at what they do."

"Done." Richard said, and pressed his thumb to the PADDs. "Give them their
orders, and go round up your platoon. They're in barracks 94-A."

Dare nodded. "Collateral damage?" She could probably do it without
stirring up a whole base of Romulans, but she'd never worked with this
team before, so she couldnt be sure.

"Try to avoid killing any of our own people." Richard said. "A team from
the Chimera will be beaming aboard with you to lay charges."

Play nice but dont hurt the other kids. She nodded again, she could do
that. "Who will have authority while we're there?"

"You're to report to Captain Rojac, who will be heading up the mission."
Richard said. "He's young, but he's good at what he does, and I have no
reason to doubt him or his abilities."

"So, his team from Chimera will be in charge while we're on the base?"
She wasnt too sure how she felt about that, having never met this Rojac
fellow before. How did she know if he could be trusted or not.

"Well, Major Cortez would nominally be in command, but your mission comes
direct from Task Force Intelligence, so your orders supersede any of his
if they conflict with your task. Just remember to behave yourself."

"Yea, yea. Dont beat up the other kids and dont steal their toys." She
fossicked around on the desk and came up with a shot glass into which she
poured a vile smelling purple liquid. "How long do I have to gather my
team and get the platoon onto the Chimera?" she asked.

"Four to six hours." Richard said.

She tossed the drink back. "More than enough time to organize it all.
I'll have us ready and onboard in three."

"Carry on, Major." Richard said.

Dare thought it an appropriate time to be more marine like and she offered
him a very crisp salute. "Yes, Sir."

Richard smirked, saluted back, and left her craft so she can do her job.

Martin was sleeping soundly and Rangi, standing in the
doorway of his darkened room, quietly turned away, closed
the door behind her and returned to the brightness of the
main living area.

The hour was late but she wanted to get some work completed,
knowing that she might receive a call from Commander
Ohmsford at any time, telling her to make preparation for
their return to Padassa.
She had arranged care for Martin with Laura who could come
at short notice so Rangi had no worries about it. Laura
cared for Martin in Rangis absence and the little boy was
happy in her company.
There were other things though that caused Rangi concern and
the main one at that moment was the vacant Deputy CMO
position on board Unity.

With Scott Fishers transfer to Chimera now completed, the
vacant position needed filling quickly if Rangi too was to
be away.
Unity had two infirmaries. The larger of the two devoted to
SSF personel was large with sixteen departments,
laboratories and a nursing staff of over eight hundred. The
smaller one on the outer ring was for civilain care and so
with such a variety, it needed a permanent medical officer
in control of it all. Although each department had its own
AMO in charge, there was still a need for a Chief and
Deputy.

Rangi had put out a call for applicants although she had
already drawn up a shortlist of possible candidates. The
problem was that many were some distance away and if she had
to leave suddenly, the position would be unmanned, something
she would not allow.

She thought over the names she had in mind as she replicated
herself a mug of hot chocolate before she returned to her
seat at the computer.
She sat down, sipping from the steaming mug as she did so
and was pleasantly surprised to see a message waiting for
her marked with the code of an application. She opened it
and immediately her interest was captured by a signature.

It was indeed a responce to the open deputy CMO position and
in formal phrasing, the applicant set out her interest in
the post, gave past experience and qualifications. Better
yet was the fact that she was nearby.... relatively
speaking... for she was on a transport bringing her to the
Starbase and would arrive within two days. Her aim of coming
to Unity was to discuss a possible position somewhere in 1st
Task Force but having seen the post offered, she had
applied.

All in all Rangi knew that she had to look no further, for
she knew the applicant and could not have chosen a better
doctor.It was perfect.
She drank her chocolate, rereading the application and with
the mug only half empty, set it aside and began the reply.

It was short and to the point. The applicant had all the
qualities needed to fulfill the demands of the DCMO position
and it would be hers upon arrival at Starbase Unity.
She was to report to the CMOs office upon arrival.

Rangi signed it, feeling a sense of relief that she could
leave the infirmary in good hands.
The message was sent and Rangi closed the terminal, leaned
back in her chair mug in hand and drained it before she
stood up, ready now to head for bed and a sound sleep.

[USS Chimera] SD 240908.07 || Tactical Simulation Log || Captain Cropa Rojac ||

[Holodeck One - Deck 5, Foreward - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C]

A fist slammed into the armrest of the Captain's chair.

"Computer, end program!" Rojac shouted in an angry tone.

The room froze. The simulated bridge create by the holodeck's emitters froze the environment in place, but the people manning the station were not moving because of something much more natural - fear.

"Ensign!" Rojac called out loudly in a tone of unmistakable annoyance. "Describe attack pattern Turian-Sigma please."

The young human swallowed a gulp of air. "Turian-Sigma," He stammered, "helm initiates a barrel roll maneuver between to incoming enemies. Tactical engages lateral phaser arrays in wide beam configuaration and arms aft torpedoes to launch at command's order."

"So tell me why those aft torpedoes were not ready." Rojac said. After a long pause, the Captain prompted him again. "Ensign!?"

"I forgot, sir." He hung his head in shame.

"Forgot?" Rojac spat back. "Ensign, you realize were about to embark on the most dangerous mission in your career don't you? And you realize that there is a considerable chance that the safety of this ship may at one point rest in your ability to destroy our foes and protect its crew?"

"Y-y-yes, sir." The Ensign stammered back. "I understand that sir."

"Then damn it, don't forget to arm the damn torpedoes this time!" Rojac replied. He swiveled back around to face the viewscreen - catching an evil smirk from Rayna Dior before he turned around to do the same. "And helm," Rojac called, "a little quicker on the corkscrew next time. Don't worry so much about tossing things about the cabin."

"Aye Captain!" Rayna called back with a wave of th back of her hand. Rojac sensed a bit of sarcasm in her tone.

"Alright." Rojac said. "Computer, restart program."

Rojac ran the tactical team through the simulation a dozen times before he called it quits. He was trying to condition them on tactics to beak through enemy blockades - a skill the just might have to use in their leg of Magna. He also wanted to get a feel for their performance level before he turned the department over to the new CTac that was transferring aboard - Commander Mike Levison. Levison, it seemed, had a few green crew members that needed the crap scared out of them. Luckily, Rojac had broken the Ensign in already.

The Ensign wasn't a bad officer. He was smart, graduating in the fifth percentile of his SSF Tactical classes. He just lacked experience - he was green in SSF lingo.

"You don't think you were to hard on him?" Rayna asked the Captain as the rest o the team filed out of the holodeck.

Rojac leaned back in the chair, plopping his right foot atop his left knee. "No." The Captain replied. "I'd rather yell at him in a holodeck than during the real thing. Besides - he's SSF. He should be able to take it."

"I suppose." Rayna shrugged her shoulders, and took a seat in the mission advisor's chair to the left of command. "But he sure did look embarrassed."

"I'm not worried about his social standing with his buddies, Rayna." Rojac replied, "I don't want him getting people killed because he forgets his attack patterns."

"Fair enough." Rayna replied. "So when does the new CTac come aboard?"

"This afternoon."

"You miss it, don't you?"

"Miss what?"

"Tactical."

Rojac took a deep breath, and stared into Rayna's deep dark eyes. "Is it that obvious?"

"Yes." Rayna said. "It's easy to tell. Your not so hard on the other bridge officers. Hell, it probaby why the turnover rate is so high on the Tactical station. You've gone through one every mission it seems - tossing out one after another because they're 'inadequate'." She stood from the chair and started walking toward the holodeck's arch. "It's a wonder this new CTac took the job at all."

Rojac brought a fist to his mouth in thought. Perhaps he had been a little too harsh on the officers in Tactical over the years. He still viewed it as 'his' department, and he wasn't willing to let it go, but he' have to. Rayna left him alone in the holodeck to contend with his thoughts. He stayed there a good five minutes until yeoman Bio chimed in on his comline.

+Sir, Operations is done with Cargo Bay three.+

Rojac tapped his combadge for his reply, "I'm on my way to the Brige now, Bio. Rojac out."
