[USS Chimera] SD 240910.13 || BRAVO || Serpent || Rescue Log ||

[USS Serpent - Stellar Nursery]

"We're clear of the nebula." Rojac reported to the rest of the crew in the cabin with him. Through the cockpit window, the vastness of the 'bubble' the Romulans created could be appreciated. It was like a wide valley, surrounded by mountains of billowing, multi-colored clouds. Rojac set a round about course toward the back end of the gate, but held off on the throttle until it was clear what Walters was cooking up for the distraction.

Adjusting the sensors Jones started looking for power sources that the Chimera puts off, "Sir I'm picking up really high power readings from the Chimera." Jones said re-checking the reading to truly make sure of what he was reading. After the third time he was 100% sure of the readings but they still didn't make sense of why they were so high.

Rojac leaned over to glance at Jones' read-outs. "Clever." He whispered. "He must be using the resonance plating to amplify the Chimera's power signatures." The Captain leaned back into his seat and poised his finger over the throttle controls. "Are they buying it?"

Jones just grinned seeing what the Chimera was trying to do, "well it's working several Romulan cruiser are following the Chimera into the asteroid belt." Jones added showing where the Chimera was which was the blue triangle and then the Romulan Cruisers which were green triangles.

"That's our ticket then." Rojac said as he slid his fingers up to full impulse. He issued his orders in quick succession. "Kroitzer, bring the transporters on-line. Fisher, Castillo, report to the back on stand-by." He glanced at his sensor read-outs. "Transporter range in twenty seconds. Jones, as soon as you get a lock."

Gustav tapped a couple of controls on the console in front of him, which diverted power to the transporters bringing them online.

"Transporters online and operational Sir".

Scott followed Castillo towards the back of the craft,Collins followed them, each doctor carrying the emergency med kits.

"We're here!" Rojac shouted as the Serpent entered transporter range. He glanced over toward the AOps to see if he found the ATs signals.

It took a couple of seconds to get to everyones signals, "almost there just need a couple more seconds." Jones mumbled as he continued to tap away at the console. A few seconds Jones looked up, "got them." Jones said smiling he was starting to get worried for a second something from the
base or the surrounding nebula was making it difficult to get a lock.

Sliding his fingers across the console Gustav started the transport sequence.

[Romulan Dimensional Gate]

Major Cortez' attention was drawn from the button his thumb was held against to see what was left of Seargent Rivers' lifeless body fall to the ground after a disruptor blast hit him square in the face. Another disruptor bolt landed in the computer console that Cortez was hiding behind and caused a small explosion, which in turn also caused Richard to drop the detonator.  Still conscious he furiously crawled to the device and had almost succeeded in re-obtaining it when he
realized he was no longer on the Romulan station.

[USS Serpent]

"YOU IDIOTS", he screamed at Castillo and the attending medics, still able to speak, but unable to move any more.  "SEND ME BACK", he screamed again before passing out due to blood loss.

Castillo quickly hoisted the major up over his shoulder with one of the doctors help and began moving him to a more suitable position.  He glanced back at Elbrums and Jones who luckily were still alive and uninjured.  "Where are the others", he said already knowing the response.

Both men glanced at each other and shook their heads,  "Dead", Jones replied speaking for the both of them.

"Castillo, Fisher, report!" Rojac called back from the cockpit.

"One seriously injured Sir." Scott called as with Castillo's help, he carried the injured Cortez away from the transport pad.

"Two others fair Sir." Collins added.

Shao's team beamed aboard with little scars, apparently having dealt with no resistance at all. Cortez had caused quite a disturbance on the station. THe Major and her team helped Fisher and Collins get the crew off the transporter pads.

Rojac allowed a grin to grow across his face, but Jones' next report wiped it clean.

"Sir there's something coming through the gate." Jones said trying to get more information on it but the gate was causing the sensors to go crazy. "I won't be able to tell what it is until the gate shuts down the gate it's self is messing around with our sensors." Jones said.

Chimerans!

The plot is moving toward conclusion, and Ixus and I are starting work on the next plot for the WHOLE simulation to participate in. I know you all will be waiting in anticipation: so lets do are part and get this showdown in Padassa, the Stellar Nursery and the Rios system wrapped up.

On a sadder note, I must accept the resignation of First Lieutenant Richard "Dick" Winters. His obligations as the head of Home Fleet combined with the demands of RL have left him in need of having to sever ties with the Chimera. He does promises however, that if he finds more time to sim later on that this will be his first stop. DK, we'll be waiting - and holding you to that statement. Good luck on your future endeavors.

Secondly, a congratulations is in order for Rear Admiral Shane Guzman (Muma) for his promotion to ISD Division Commander. We wish you luck in that position, sir.

The plot moves forward. Everyone: know your part and have fun.

Get logging!

Lt Vaughn informed Jones about his participation on the rescue team. The Serpent exits the shuttlebay and begins ts mission to the Romulan Dimensional gate.

Charlie - Ixus

I'm working on it I promise!

Unity - Rangi

Good news for Jade this week when two checkups, first with T'Vel and then with Rangi, resulted in her being allowed to return to limited duties. She asked if the reason for her
new telepathic skills had yet been discovered and learned that nothing definate could be given yet although 'sound / rhythm' could be involved or a recent exposure to radiation.

Shane was keen to have Lt.Mumacik back on duty but although he found the lieutenant had improved, Rangi would not release him as fit for duty despite Shane's best attempts at persuasion.

Trent  had a surprise meeting with Cho who told him that not only was Trent on a hitlist but that there were at least twenty bounty hunters intent on collecting the reward for
Trents death. Luckily, Cho and his crew were not included in that number and Cho said he would stop as many as he could.

The new recruitment ad missed the desired effect.

"There was blood upon the risers, there were brains upon the 'chute.

He was a mess, they picked him up and poured him from his boots.
And he ain't gonna jump no more."

Ask a silly question...

"Do you feel up for taking up duty again?" Shane asked in a
somewhat jovial tone.

"No, Admiral Guzman" was the laconic answer.

- Logging Guidelines
-------------------------
Logging:
The weekly logging deadline is at Midnight (12:00AM/00:00) GMT/UTC (19:00 EST); all logs received after the deadline will be counted for the following week. If you are pressed for time and would like a log to count for the previous week, but it is sent after the deadline, please send an email to the command team when you send the log so that we can make the corrections.
Please remember that all MAJOR plot changes need to be cleared with the command staff before a log goes through! You can do this by sending the command staff (
chimera-command@ucip.org ) a log labeled with "Draft" tagged to the subject line. We'll typically let you know if it's approved within 24 to 48 hours, or tell you what might need to be modified before it's sent to the listserv.
When using other characters in your logs, please keep in mind that person's characteristics. Character information can be found on the UCIP website or the USS Chimera website (under CREW - just click on the Star Trek symbol next to the character's name). If you're still unsure how to interact with a character, then privately mail the person
involved, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help.
Conversely, if you feel that your character is being portrayed incorrectly by someone please contact them to try to work out an agreeable solution. Just keep in mind when logging to treat other characters the way you'd like them to treat you - with the respect due to any member of Starfleet who is a specialist in their field.
If you think your log may be going out of bounds, then please ask! If you are having problems finding things to write about or would just like some help with your log, please contact your department head or the command team. Remember, you don't always have to log about things relating to the main plot - logs that develop your character's
personality are encouraged! We're eager to help if you're having trouble; just email the command team (
chimera-command@ucip.org).

[USS Chimera] SD240910.12 Joint Duty Log - RAdm/MCapt UNITY CO/COps Shane Guzman and Jade Reese - "Good Old Work"

====== Shane's office, SB 234: UNITY
=====

As Shane's aide announced someone called MCpt. Jade Reese
coming as ordered, he was for a moment uncertain who the guy
was. He looked at the brief info send from his aide and
realized that the "guy" was in fact a woman, Chief
operations officer of USS Chimera – currently off duty due
medical condition. With the words of 'off duty' and 'medical
condition' a light went up in Shane's head and he remembered
that it was Rangi who commentated the officer to his
attention. He pressed a button, giving MCpt. Reese
permission to enter.

Jade stood up and walked into the office she quickly made
time to the desk and stood at attention and gave the Admiral
a clean crisp salute. "Marine Captain Jade Reese reporting
as ordered." She said looking straight past the Admiral and
at the wall behind him.

"Ah Captain, please take a seat" Shane said towards the
Chimera's Chief Operations and motioned to one of the three
chair in front of his desk. "Anything to drink?" he asked
politely.

Jade nodded and took a seat in the middle one, "coffee
please sir." Jade said always feeling at a loss in the
morning if she didn't have her cup of coffee. She then took
the time to look around the office the only places she had
been on UNITY was her temp quarters, sickbay and some stores
on the promenade so she was glad to be meeting with the
Admiral.

"Sounds like a plan to me" Shane said smiling. "We have a
small training facility with seminar rooms and holodecks for
practical training on deck 121. I'll have you assigned as
Chief instructor for operations ... on  a temporal basis
until you assume your duty on Chimera. I'd make the
assignment permanent, but I am sure that Captain Rojac would
not be very happy about losing you."

"Sounds lovely." Jade said smiling remembering her CO giving her two options for career development within SFMC one was to become a drill instructor to go back to officer school and become an officer. Jade decided on the latter she wanted to pursue an officer advancement and then she threw a curve ball by signing up at the academy to become an operations officer. So she was glad to be getting this opportunity to be able to teach future operations officers. "Yes I'm sure that Captain Rojac would fight you on that decision." Jade said with a slight smirk.

Leaning back in his chair, Shane replied: "I do expect
regular drills from you. Forge those ensigns into officers
that won't need a toilet the instant a Romulan Warbird
appears on sensors. Get familiar with UNITY's senior ops
officers and ask them for assistance when needed"

"Aye sir." Jade said knowing that she was scared the first time she came face to face with a Romulan ship but she was lucky she had years of Marine training to keep her focused and calm. But like the Admiral said these are fresh Ensigns from the academy and all they had simulations even through that's what they would have here but it's better then nothing.

"One more things, Captain" Shane said with some more focus
in his voice, "please do not take this assignment too
serious. You're on light duty and Commander Summers would
cause me more then one headache if your condition should get
worse because of this assignment. Agreed?"

"Agreed. I'll limit my time in the class room and holodecks." Jade said knowing the last thing the Admiral would want was the CMO coming to him about this.

Shane nodded towards the woman. He was aware that it was
generally known that Rangi and he lived together having even
a son, so she would understand *how* a Commander could give
a headache to an Admiral. "Very well then, if there is
nothing from your side, then I wish you much luck in your
new assignment". With that Shane stood up and walked over to
Jade to shake her hand.

Standing up Jade took the Admirals hand, "thank you sir for this assignment sir." Jade said smiling glad to have something to do besides wander the promenade or sit in her quarters."I won't let you down sir." Jade added as they let go of each others hands Jade then gave one more nod to the Admiral and headed out of his office and back to her quarters to get a good nights rest before the teaching would begin.

[USS Chimera] SD:240910.11 ||Bravo|| Bridge Log Part V

Darrell Smith <erassianalliance@googlemail.com> wrote to chimera@ucip.org:

---------------
Start Log
---------------

"Chimera this is the Serpent, we are proceeding on schedule. ETA in
five minutes."

Walters opened a comm channel from Chimera's Bridge to the shuttle
Serpent "We're about to start our run now. Wait till we have their
attention then head on in at low power. Above all else obey the
eleventh commandment...Thou shalt not get caught. We'll be signing
off now, good luck Captain."

"Good luck, Major. Serpent out."

{It's probably you who require the luck more Captain} Walters
thought. "Leftenant Dior prepare to maneuver to coordinates at
waypoint Cobalt programmed into the navigation system then follow the
waypoints into the asteroid field at the best impulse speed you can
manage."

"Aye sir." Dior quickly replied. She focused intently on her duties -
which served her well at taking her mind of the dull ache in her chest
after hearing Cropa's voice on the comm. She said a silent prayer as
she engaged the impulse drive.

With the port engine written off, Dior could only reach a maximum
cruising sub-light speed of .58 c - and she had to keep the port RCS
thrusters on stand-by to keep from listing to the left. "Steady as she
goes sir. Two minutes 'till cobalt."

"Commander Levison, charge phasers and have Quantum Torpedoes ready
for launch in the tubes. Prepare the Stealth Resonance Armour to
engage Mode B." Walters ordered. "Leftenant Vaughn when I
give the order to activate the SRA build power slowly through the SRA
from 2.5% and rising."

"Aye Commander." Ian said bringing up the SRA onto his console and
setting it to exactly what the Commander ordered once he got it he set
his console to beep when it his 2.5% and then to beep every time it
increased a 1.5% this way he wouldn't accidentally forget about it but
he knew he wouldn't but another safety measure couldn't hurt.

"Major, Mode Beta on the Stealth Plating will light our hull up like a
Christmas Tree," Levison began protesting but then considered it for
himself for a moment. 'But of course, you want to pull every enemy
ship in the vicinity into our firing range so that the Serpent can
sneak through. Clever,' he thought to himself, before speaking once
more: "Weapons armed and ready, sir. Mr Kilbain and I have adjusted
phasers for long range, narrow beam firing. We're good to go."

"I'm more than aware of that fact Commander in fact I'm counting on
it." Walters replied before ordering the communications officer.
"Officer Montesque, send a message to First Task Force Command using
encryption code Theta-212 informing them 'Bravo Group Operations have
failed. Samson Option has been initiated.' "

"Sir," concern was evident in the heavily French accented voice of the
half-Bajoran Communications Officer, "Theta-212 was reported
compromised by the enemy --"

"Four days ago...thank you I received the briefing. It's all part of
the trap." Walters said allowing himself a slight smile.

Montesque nodded and went about his orders. It seemed the new XO had a
few tricks up his sleeves as well. "Communique sent, Major."

Walters spoke aloud to the entire bridge crew "For those of you not in
the know Samson was a character in an ancient Earth holy book called
the Bible. Samson was a favorite of god and enemy priests captured
him and planned to kill him, whilst in the enemy temple Samson pulled
together two of the pillars bringing the temple down on him and the
enemy priests. Long story short, If I'm going out I'm taking you with
me. Erassian Counter-Intelligence put out communications for enemy
intercept with the code word Samson every so often. They've heard it
and now they have to come after us lest we unleash some terrible
super-weapon upon them."

Walters turned back to the helm. "Leftenant Dior once in the asteroid
field take as erratic a course between waypoints as possible. I want
to minimize our exposure to long range enemy fire as much as possible
but coordinate with tactical so they can fire off some clean shots."

"Aye sir." Dior replied. She hated asteroid fields - especially with
maneuverability being cut in half. "Waypoint epsilon. Forwarding
flight plan to tactical."

Walters watched as one of the pursuing Cruisers entered the asteroid
field. " Commander Levison the moment that cruiser gets in range start
hitting it with all you've got. You don't have to score major damage
every time so focus on accuracy over quantity of shots. By luring
them into this dense asteroid field we've negated their advantages of
speed, numbers and weapons range. I doubt they'll use the Thelaron
Cannon either as they would risk a rebound from the mineral types in
these asteroids. Classic Sun Tzu use the terrain to defeat the enemy."

"Confirmed sir," Lieutenant Carpenter reported from the science
station. "The minerals these asteroids are comprised of would
destabilise the thalaron beams; they'd risk a remittent cascade that
would destroy their ships."

"Firing for effect," Levison called out as soon as the Chimera's
erratic flight path shifted it out from behind the asteroids and into
a clear firing pattern. The modified phasers that he and Kilbain had
been working on began to charge along the length of the weapons arrays
on the outer hull before discharging and lashing out across the much
greater distances. Although still powerful, the phasers were not as
effective as they had been when the Starfleet vessel had been
dogfighting earlier and they merely chipped away at the enemy vessel's
shielding, slowly but surely.

Levison hated to waste the ordnance, but he also followed up with a
brace of quantum torpedoes, one of which destroyed an asteroid near
the cruiser rather than striking its target. The second did some
damage to the cruiser's outer hull, opening parts of it to space, but
it was still far from destroyed. "Minimal damage thus far... I need
more juice for the phasers please, Ops."

Copy." Ian said moving some of the power which meant decreasing the
SRA slightly but he figured that it had done it's job already,
"alright that's as much as I can give you right now." Ian said
deciding if they needed more he would have to find it else where.

"Reroute the power from the shield grid not facing the enemy. We
shouldn't need those yet." Walters said before opening a comm channel
using the controls on the Captains chair although he used another
uncracked encryption code. "Walters to Xerxes. Is everything set up
for the party?"

Anya replied from the cockpit of Lancer One positioned deeper into the
asteroid field. "Just waiting on the guests to arrive Walters. They
should arrive in just under a minute. Lancers are holding Waypoint
Iron and Windhover are in reserve at Waypoint Mercury. Sun God is
maintaining relative safe distance for forward observation."

"Very good Major transfer firing control to the Chimera. Chimera out."
Walters watched the viewscreen as Dior threaded the Chimera through a
group of large asteroids and headed towards a large asteroid.
"Leftenant Dior loop us around that asteroid and bring us in for a
head to head with the cruiser. Commander Levison prepare a full
phaser barrage with the forward arrays and give them a full salvo of
Quantum torpedoes. Double barrel."

"Standard orbit!" Rana called out as she set a course around the
asteroids gravity well. The maneuver should take some of the strain
off of the Chimera's ailing RCS systems. She brought the ship around,
planning to use the asteroid's gravity as a sling shot.

Walters waited till Chimera was safely behind the large asteroid
before typing in a code into the command chair and then transmitting
it from Chimera towards where the Romulan Cruiser was making its way
through the group of large asteroids Chimera had gone through just
moments before. The signal however was not intended for the Romulan
Cruiser but the three 1.2 Gigatonne Tactical Fusion Warheads planted
there in advance by the Windhover Squadron. The explosion was bright
as the sun battering the Cruiser's shields into oblivion.

Outside Anya raced her Lancers in towards the stricken Romulan Cruiser
at breakneck speed and ordered her squadron to arm the A1 Verteron
Missiles preferring to keep the deadlier Anti-Ship Missiles and full
size torpedoes for the second Romulan Cruiser who would now be wise to
the strategy being employed within the asteroid field.

Back on the Chimera's Bridge the viewscreen showed the moment Chimera
rounded the large asteroid heading straight towards the damaged enemy
vessel. Walters kept his order simple. "Commander Levison...Fire."

"With pleasure," Mike smiled grimly, his fingers simply tapping the
firing activation onto his pre-programmed attack spread. The extra
power to the phasers made them far more deadly once again and the
marginally closer range only helped in damaging the enemy warship. The
scalpel-like beams drilled and incised the hull of the cruiser with
deadly efficiency, carving it to pieces before the quantum torpedo
spread that Levison had launched reached the enemy vessel's hull. The
detonations sheered the hostile ship in half and then made it blossom
into a giant fireball, adding another kill to the Chimera's already
impressive total for the mission thus far. "Enemy ship destroyed,
Major."

"Major, long range sensors are picking up a gate activation,"
Carpenter reported. "I can't tell yet if there are any ships coming
through, the interference is too much."

'What now?' Levison thought to himself, a sinking feeling in the pit
of his stomach. If the Chimera had to face even more enemy ships...
well, the chances of success were slim. Checking the ship's weapons
compliment, Mike winced: eighty-four Photon Torpedoes, sixty-two
Quantum Torpedoes and phaser energy at roughly thirty percent. The
Commander glanced across at where Carpenter was sat and waited for the
rest of her report, not daring to look at his own sensor panels.

Walters watched the viewscreen as it changed to display the activating
gate and the remaining Romulan Cruiser turning to head back towards
the gate...towards the away team and their would be rescuers. It left
him with no decent choices. No tactics were going to help now. "Lay
in a course for the gate, best speed. Any and all power we have from
non-essential systems including the SRA reroute to weapons and
shields."
