[Transporter Room 1 - Deck 4 - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C]
Rojac nodded to the away team as he stepped off the transporter platform, sending them on their separate ways to type up their formal reports. The captain however needed to make way out of the hell hole of a nebula they were in. As soon as he passed through the doors, his yeoman, Petty Officer Grace Bio, handed him a padd.
"Thanks." He replied and he took the offered padd and gazed over it's contents. "Anything big happen?"
Grace tried to keep up with Rojac's long, quick strides as he made his way down the hallway. "Engineering and Operations report high levels of electric activity from the storm and are reporting some strange behaviors in the ship's systems."
"Like what?" He asked.
"Well," Bio began, "engineering reported that the electric storms outside were creating a massive energy build-up in the shield generators. Lieutenant Kroitzer ordered the build-up to be channeled out of the defelctor to prevent the feedback from damaging our systems and breaching the hulls."
"Good thinking," Rojac nodded as he scanned through Kroitzer's logs, "if the shields would have gone down we would have had one hell of a medical emergency aboard the ship. Your blood would be boiling right about now." He smirked.
Grace gave a sarcastic smirk in return. "Yeah well, according to Operations that discharge may have caused a dangerous chain of reactions throughout the nebula.
"How so?" Rojac asked.
"Science isn't completely sure," Bio reported, "but the increase in electrical activity caused by the cascading reaction has reduced our sensors' abilities inthis environment. Captain Reese reports a reduction of visibility down to one hundred kilometers."
Rojac sighed, "That's great. Do we have any hope of improving that?"
"She has proposed sneding ahead some class four probes to scout ahead of our path."
"Yeah, but they wouldn't last long in this environoment, and we'll probably need them for the next phase of the mission." Rojac sighed.
The approached the turbolift doors and they opened, allowing the pair to enter, "Bridge" The captain ordered. "We'll just have to rough it." He said.
"I'm sorry, sir?" Bio asked.
"You know, Petty Officer," Rojac began, "there are some lifeforms that down have the sense of sight. The navigate through their environments through the use of echolocation, or through a keen sense of magnetic fields. I think we rely too much on our sight."
Grace nodded in a tenetative state of understanding. "If you say so, sir."
The doors opened to the bridge, and Rojac stepped forward into his domain.
"Captain on the bridge!" An officer shouted.
Natalia stood up and moved to her XO chair as Rojac approached. "The Erassians have traced the signal to the Canna system through a series of cloaked relays in the Erass system. We're to rendezvous with thier ship, the Prometheus and set course to continue the investigation. But first, we need to rendezvous with Ohmsford and the Magellan."
Natalia nodded in understanding.
"Lieutenant Dior," Rojac shouted to the bajoran-betazoid helm officer (who he swore winked at him as she turned around), "re-trace our steps through the nebula, half impulse. We'll need increased power to whatever sensors we have - heavy emphasis on the magnetic field readings we know to be in the nebula. Captain Reese, you control the power; Mr. Ra-Zerphimi man the sensors manually."
"Aye sir." They responded.
"I want Kroitzer to continue low-level, periodic expulsions of the energy levels through the deflector - before they reach a level high enough to create another reaction like we experienced." Roajc ordered, Natalia nodded and contacted Engineering on the comm.
"Let's get moving." Rojac said. "Commander Ohmsford is probably worried sick."
