[USS Chimera] SD 340912.31 Joint Personal Log, Cpt Trent Rodgers and Cdr Rangi Summers

=Main Sickbay=
=Starbase UNITY=

As his eyes slowly opened, Trent attempted to adjust to the
light. He heard people speaking in the background, but he
didn't understand what they were saying. As he
finally gained focus, a blonde woman appeared above him.

"Sarah?" he managed to say, looking a bit puzzled.

"Yes, sweetheart, it's me," his wife replied.

Memories of recent events were coming back to him.

"Hoack!" he muttered angrily as he tried to sit up, but
found that it sapped every bit of energy he had in him.

"Just relax," she said. "It's going to be a couple of more
days before you regain your strength."

He tried again, but finally gave up on the effort. He took a
couple of deep breaths before looking back at Sarah.

"How long?" he still sounded a little hoarse.

"Almost a week," she replied. "You were poisoned.
Thankfully, Doctor Summers was familiar with the poison
and able to come up with an antidote. If it wasn't
for her, you'd likely be dead by now."

Sarah looked off to the side, "Speaking of Doctor
Summers..."

Trent saw someone else approach as he tried to clear his
head.

"Good morning." Rangi smiled to Sarah as she spoke seeing
clearly the strain on the young womans face that told of her
worries and concerns.

Rangi transferred her gaze to Trent. " Its good to see you
awake again." she said to him.

"It's good to be awake," Trent said. "My wife tells me that
you are the reason for that."

"Not entirely" Rangi replied. "Fortunately we knew the
poison so were able to deal with it.Luckily we got you here
very quickly."

"Well, anyhow. Thanks all the same," Trent said as he again
tried to sit up.

" Hey...steady." Rangi warned, holding out her hand palm
outward at the same moment that sarah tried to prevent trent
moving.He sank back.

"Anyhow, when will I be able to get out of here?" Trent
said. "Not that I enjoy my time in sickbay, which I usually
don't, but I'd perfer to be ... well, you know ... somewhere
else."

" Another day or two." Rangi answered with the noncommital
responce that such questions usually gained.

"Well, being married to a doctor, I've learned long ago not
to argue with them. All the same though, the sooner you can
get me out of here, the better," Trent said.

" A wise man." Rangi said and she and Sarah exchanged a
knowing glance.

Trent again tried to pull himself up. He found that during
this attempt, he had a bit more energy and managed to sit up
a bit.

"By the way, how is MaiKai and the baby?" Trent asked.

"They're both doing very well. They're at home now...with
Rick."

"Well, thanks again Doc," Trent said.

"My pleasure...just take note of medical advice and you'll
be out all the faster." she replied and with a nother smile
at them both, Rangi turned and left them alone.

Trent and Sarah watched as Doctor Summers walked away.

"How long have you been here?" Trent asked.

"I came in a couple of days after Mai gave birth. I came in
to help her, but then this happened. My God, Trent, why
didn't you tell me?"

"Tell you what?"

"Don't act ignorant with me," she said. "You know
what I'm talking about."

Trent shook his head, "I didn't want to worry
you."

"So, I have to find out that the praetor has a death warrant
on your head from some stranger in security. Damn it, Trent.
You should ha ve told me."

"I know."

"Really. Could have fooled me. And don't give me this 'I was
only trying to protect you crap," Sarah said.

"I know. Your right."

Sarah gave Trent a strange look.

"Look, I just don't feel like arguing with you now," Trent
explained then grinned. "Maybe later."

She just shook her head.

"Well, since your not in the arguing mood, then maybe
you won't want to argue about this. Me and the children
are moving out here. I've already informed Starfleet
Medical of my decision."

"No way. You know how I feel about you and the kids being
out here so close to Romulan space."

"I don't care. If this starbase is good enough for Ricky,
Mai and their children, then it's good enough for us. Besides,
Annie misses her daddy."

"Well, I miss her to. And Gregory. Did you bring them?"

Sarah shook her head, "I left them with my parents in
Australi a."

"When did Ricky make it back?"

"He returned a cou ple of days ago. The only reason
he isn't here now is because he's working. But he'll stop by
once he's off. He's been worried sick. Just as I have."

"I'm fine now. At least I will be."

"Good, because Admiral Guzman has issued you a small
security detail."

Trent just nodded and something caught his eye on the
small monitor off to his left. It was a news broadcast.

"Turn the volume up," Trent said to Sarah as he pulled
himself into a full sitting position.

On the screen was devastation and destruction in San
Francisco. People were running about in a chaotic scene.

"My God," Trent muttered as his investigative instincts
kicked in. "I need to get in contact with Major Han. She'll
know what's going on."

"I need to call my parents," Sarah was worried. "I know
the children are a half a world away, but still ..."

"Go."

She leaned down and kissed Trent before walking away.
