[USS Chimera] [Backlog]SD240902.02 3-Way Duty Log - Cmdr/1Lt/LtJg CMO/COps/CSec Rangi Summers, Jade Reese and Tom Jardan - "Misinterrempations of Information"

kevin coupe <fallenang3l4@gmail.com> wrote to chimera@ucip.org:

=/\= Sickbay, USS Chimera C =/\=

Jade walked out of the Security HQ's learning that the
CSec was still in sickbay {man this isn't probably the way
the CO wanted to see the first mission to start out} Jade
thought to herself. She walked into the turbolift,
"sickbay." She said as the doors whisked closed few
minutes later the doors opened up to the corridor that led
to sickbay. As she got to the sickbay doors they whisked
open Jade always hated infirmaries mainly because she lost
someone close to her while she was in the SFMC. Walking
further into sickbay looked around looking for
anyone to direct him to where the CSec was.

Rangi had been discussing staff rotas with the senior nurse
on duty and having finished her conversation,
noticed the newcomer hesitating just inside the entrance.
" May I help you?" she asked approaching the young woman.

"Actually I'm looking for Lt Jardan." Jade said hoping
that he would be able to see him and he wasn't sleeping or
anything like that.
" Ah..well..I'm sure he will appreciate a visitor." Rangi
replied." Now he's feeling well, the time passes slowly
and I'm sure he'll be glad to see a new face.... He's
along here." She smiled and indicated the direction.

Following the doctor back to where Jardan was before going
in Jade wanted to ask one question, "how is he doing?"
Jade asked not actually knowing the man, but she knows how
difficult these jobs can be.

" He's made a good recovery and is almost well enough to
resume duty. " Rangi replied.
They walked the length of a corridor and coming to the
last door on the left, Rangi said " He's in here." knocked
and went inside. " A visitor for you." she said smiling at
the patient.

"Greetings Lt sorry that we've meet like this, but wanted
you to see the program for the security teams that are
transporting over to the outpost." Jade said handing over
the PADD to the CSec.

Tommy looked up at the voice and momentarily was confused
before he realized who she was. "Greetings to you to. You
must be Jade.... sorry," He reached up and took the padd,"
I have seemed to forgotten your last name, I think? So
tell me what you need from me to see."
Tommy looked at the PADD and nodded." Ok. what's your take
before I give you my imput?"

Rangi took little notice if the developing conversation,
concentrating instead on Jardans medical notes. She read
through the last few entries.

Tommy did not wait for Jade to reply." Seriously because it
looks
like there been some mistakes.
First of all, I planned for there to be teams of four, and
your plan
seems to only beaming two on the run.
Second, who authorized the changes?"

"I received a memo about that, so I made the changes." Jade
said not
backing down she was just following orders like a good
solider. "I'm
sorry that you had to find out this way, but it won't take
long to fix
it to make sure a team of four can get transported over just
fine."
Jade added.

Rangi laid the medpadd aside, looking from Jardan to Jade
and back again.
Perhaps it was the long confinement in sickbay that caused
the Chief to
sound rather curt with his questions.
"Excuse me butting in...." she said "..but perhaps this
isn't the best place to discuss
the issue.Lieutenant, I'm passing you fit for minimal
duties. Perhaps you would like
to make arrangements for a meeting in your office later
today?"
Her tone, though polite, indicated that they might like to
continue their conversation
elsewhere.

Jade nodded, "I agree. I'll contact you once you get back to
your
office and deal with things that you need to deal with."
Jade said.

"Thankyou." Rangi said with a quick glance to jardan but
before he
could say anything more, she was directing Jade towards the
door.
There was no chance that a heated discussion was going to
errupt
in sickbay if she could possibly prevent it.

Chimerans!

Great logging week. Phase II of the plot is in full force, and things are getting quite busy back with the UNITY crew as well. The Chimera Universe keeps on kicking!

We'll go full force this week. The Chimera crew launches into a heated battle to save Outpost 0071 and fend off the Romulan threat.  Let's hope they'll be successful.

Disappointing announcement this week. We must bid farewell to McKnight, who's RL obligations have him tied up at the moment to sim as the TF Security Advisor. We hope you can return shortly McKnight.

-------------------------
- Summary (by Rangi)
-------------------------
Rojac and Michael formed a plan for the Fighters.

On SB Unity, Shane made additions to his personal log ending
with his intention to bring his brother and son home.

The USSs Qashqai, Rapier and Jameson in the Tarangor system
and Bren perused the layouts of the shipyard and the
station. He was interrupted by an urgent hail from Rapiers CO
Cmdr Telson.

Rick and Jo were looking at the shipyard too. Jo wasn't
impressed but Rick saw possibilities. They set to work on the
reactor and eventually got it online.Later they discovered
abandoned plans for a new ship similar to the Defiant class
which were 75% complete.Rick discovered that an explosion on
the outpost had set the ship adrift and with some
calculation. plotted its probable location.

Chisulo arrived at Khitomer and, with utmost secrecy, met
Kortag'h who led him to a cloaked shuttle. They discussed
possible Romulan tactics and Kortag'h agree to accompany
Chisulo to the Narendra system where he had contacts that
might be of help.

Scott told Rangi that he thought  her recent clamp down on
sickbay rules was not a good thing because it damaged the
previously good morale. She agreed that the changes were not
to her liking either. Following a message from Athena, Rangi
met with the counsellor to discuss it and offered to help
with Athenas memory loss but Athena declined.
Rangi sent a low priority message to the CO, explaining her
view of the tightened rules.

Gustav met Scardona who gave him orders to work with Ops on
setting up the new transporter programme.

Maikai was feeling stressed and exchanged heated words with
a nurse.

Tom was feeling very stressed too and took his anger out on
James Adams who tried to explain the reasoning behind the
alterations to the away teams.

Vlimar contacted Chimeras sickbay to enquire about missing
reports.Lucy answered him and both became a little bit
flustered. Later Lucy tried to learn more about the
Lieutenant Colonel but discovered most of the information
was classified.

Jade showed the security teams programme to Natalia and they
discussed possible plans for emergency 'beam outs'.

The Klingon delegation arrived on Unity to a suspicious
meeting on both sides. This proved to be well grounded when
Adjur used a  poisonous patch in a handshake to assassinate
Lernen. Alectos instant reaction pinned Adjur to the wall
but Nyms attempts to help Lernen were in vain.

Aboard Chimera, Red Alert sounded as the ship arrived at her
destination. The teams were transported, Warbirds decloaked
and Chimera opened fire as Anya led the fighters into
battle.
-------------------------
- Quotes of the Week (by Ixus)
-------------------------
I'd like to see Anya's response to this...

Michael paused and then continued, "By concentrating our fire
and using our fighters as a distraction we could hopefully keep
from being overwhelmed until we were in a position to either
escape or to force them to retreat."

Lieutenant JG Michael 'Playing With Fire' Howard

Are you lonesome tonight?

Shane sighed and said: "Personal log, Commodore Shane
Guzman, star date 240901.26. I must say that since both
Rangi and little Martin are away, it's very dull here.
Besides duty business, there is little I can … or better
said I would like to do. Maybe it's because a lot of my
long year friends from the Chimera are away and there are
very few here on the UNITY, I could call friends. "
Commodore Shane 'Going Stag' Guzman

*****************************************************

Call it a professional difference of opinion.

"Looks like a relic," Jo said.

"Maybe old, but still can do job," Rick responded. "Many of systems
basically same use ... same we use today."

Chief Petty Officer Jo 'Vinegar' Weathersby &
Commander Rick 'Fine Wine' Rodgers

*****************************************************

They won't find any sick people here!

" I wanted to get this done." Rangi said, turning off the
terminal." I need to stay ahead of it. Commander
Trzetrzelewska said that she or the Captain will carry out
spot checks. When one or the other of them appears in
sickbay, they won't find anything lacking this time."
She tidied some padds into a neat pile and Scott looked at
her doubtfully but said nothing.

Commander Rangi 'OCD' Summers

*****************************************************

Definitely not Erassian design then!

"Perhaps it is," Rick said, typing in a few commands,
bring up the design specs. "Interesting. Seems as
if this ship was being fitted with extra sensors
and commun ... commun ... communications equipment.
There also less firepower."

Commander Rick 'Technical' Rodgers

*****************************************************

Engineering gets unionized!

"I'm going to assume you're up to date on our orders. I want you to
coordinate with Ops on the implementation of the new transporter
program. Also, I'm ordering you to take it slow, ok?"

Lt. Commander Curtis 'Arthur Scargill' Scardona

*****************************************************

Lessons in leadership: Lesson One - Discipline

"What is your deal, Ensign?" Mai almost demanded.  "Do you not
understand that I am quite capable of this job and don't need you hovering over
my desk? Do you not find your superiors' decisions in staffing not to your
liking? Please say something because I can not take much more of this".

Lt. Commander Maikai 'Head Honcho' Rodgers

- Logging Guidelines
-------------------------
Logging:
The weekly logging deadline is at Midnight (12:00AM/00:00) GMT/UTC (19:00 EST); all logs received after the deadline will be counted for the following week. If you are pressed for time and would like a log to count for the previous week, but it is sent after the deadline, please send an email to the command team when you send the log so that we can make the corrections.
Please remember that all MAJOR plot changes need to be cleared with the command staff before a log goes through! You can do this by sending the command staff (chimera-command@ucip.org ) a log labeled with "Draft" tagged to the subject line. We'll typically let you know if it's approved within 24 to 48 hours, or tell you what might need to be modified before it's sent to the listserv.
When using other characters in your logs, please keep in mind that person's characteristics. Character information can be found on the UCIP website or the USS Chimera website (under CREW - just click on the Star Trek symbol next to the character's name). If you're still unsure how to interact with a character, then privately mail the person
involved, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help.
Conversely, if you feel that your character is being portrayed incorrectly by someone please contact them to try to work out an agreeable solution. Just keep in mind when logging to treat other characters the way you'd like them to treat you - with the respect due to any member of Starfleet who is a specialist in their field.
If you think your log may be going out of bounds, then please ask! If you are having problems finding things to write about or would just like some help with your log, please contact your department head or the command team. Remember, you don't always have to log about things relating to the main plot - logs that develop your character's
personality are encouraged! We're eager to help if you're having trouble; just email the command team (chimera-command@ucip.org).

[USS Chimera] SD240209.01 3-Way Duty Log - 1Lt/LtJg/Ens COps/AOps/AOps Jade Reese, Martin Dexter and Robert Baco - "Ideas, Ideas and More Ideas"

kevin coupe <fallenang3l4@gmail.com> wrote to chimera@ucip.org:

=/\= Meeting Room, ODCC, USS Chimera C =/\

Baco was looking over some old articles from the R&D
department trying to find ideas that they could use to
either eliminate communication jamming fields or at least be
able to cut through them. The problem was trying to find
something that wouldn't make a new target for the enemy to
shoot at, but that could be dealt with the problem was
finding what they could use to disrupt the jamming field.

Baco stood up and walked over to one of the computers and
entered in a search for older research articles on listening
posts. The idea was to use the listening posts to re-direct
the message to the ship using Jade's idea of the cycling
program and also the listening post can increase the
strength of the signal. If it would work they would also
have to find a way to either get a shield emitter on it or
find someway to hide what it really was Baco added all of
these ideas and some info on all of it on the PADD and
walked over to where LtJg Dexter was working.

"Sir I have some ideas to bounce off of you for that side
project the boss wanted us to work on." Baco said setting
the PADD down on the table and pulling up a chair.

Martin Dexter stiffened a yawn and looked at Baco. After
spending hours working on his console, he was rather
stretched and tired. Half an hour in a gym and eight hours
of sleep would do wonders with his condition … but with
all the tasks operations had to deal with … it was just a
dream.

He took the offered PADD and looked at the first page.
Looking up he addressed Baco: "Maybe you can tell me a bit
about those ideas, Ensign" he said and looked down at the
PADD again.

"Yes sir." Baco said hitting a few buttons that each seat had in front
of them, so they could bring something up on the big screen easily.
"Will the idea is simple we use something small to help strengthen the
signal or maybe even bypassing the jamming field entirely." Baco said
getting excited about this project.

"But we still run into the problem had having something out there that
the enemy can shoot at and a smaller problem is that she wanted
something to get rid of the jamming field, so we wouldn't have to
worry about bypassing or even strengthening the signal." Baco said
pulling up pictures of a small looking old fashioned satellite.

"Jamming breaking is always hard, unless one has superior
equipment, but I fear this is not our case. I like your
ideas, but we come always back to the single problem of
protecting whatever device will relay our communication. But
maybe there is a solution … what about using a shuttle to
do that? It can be modified to serve as a relay station, has
engines to move or hide if necessary and has shields for
protection as well."

"That could work, but wouldn't that just mean that we would need to
risk lives to man it.?" Baco said and asked at the same time, "I mean
with a satellite it can be unmanned and we could put like a small
cloaking device or a small shield generator and we wouldn't have to
risk some people to man the shuttle or fighter." Baco said thinking
that making someone man something that has a good chance of being
destroyed.

"Maybe we could employ some of the superior fighters from
Xerxe's wing … together with a good pilot, there is not
much that could endanger such a 'relay'

"I'm still seeing that as a problem it would be taking a fighter away
or even a squad away which could be used to protect something more
important like the ship or something that we've been tasked to
protect." Baco said. "Where as a satellite we could have multiple of
them and they're a lot cheaper to make then a shuttle or a fighter and
if does get blown up no one dies." Baco added.

Dexter nodded: "true … but, with a blown satellite we
have no communication then. As I see it, we have now two
alternatives. First one – employing a fighter shuttle with
modifications that would serve as a relay node or second –
using a cloaked satellite to do the same job. Both have
advantages and disadvantages. Let's call the boss and let
her decide ..."

"Lt Reese this is Ens Baco if you're not busy myself and Lt Dexter
would like to see you in the meeting room." Baco said into his COMM
piece.

"I'll be right there Ensign." Jade said standing, "we'll finish the
shift roster later." Jade said to her yeoman. After she stood up she
picked up her coffee and headed out of her office and headed to the
meeting room minuets later Jade walked into the meeting room, "alright
you two why have you called me?" Jade asked.

The weaker side of Dexter's would prefer to say nothing
and leave Baco to speak, but obviously the Ensign thought
the same. For a moment none there was a silence but then
Dexter finally said:"ma'am … we have analyzed the
problem of breaking comm. Jamming in place and have two
possible solution for you. Both have advantages and
disadvantages and we were unable to agree on a single
one". Dexter then explained about the two solutions
briefly and added: "so we thought that the final decision
is to mad by you … madam"

Jade took the two PADDs and looked over them and saw the advantages
and disadvantages for both of them, but before she would make a choice
she would want to speak with Marine Captain Anya Xerxes to get her
opinion on this and also to see if one of her men would even consider
being a pilot on a craft and take on the risks of flying the craft.

"Let me run this by the squadron commander and once I get done with
that I'll make my decision and if we get the go ahead from the higher
ups we'll start on the programming and development of the craft or
satellite." Jade said standing up picking up both PADDs and her coffee
and heading back to her office, so she could finish up the shift
schedule.

Dexter looked at Baco like saying: "See? I told you". He then
shrugged his shoulders and thought that it's good not to
have to decide. The life of an junior officer was quite
easy, wasnt it?

Baco just nodded he wished that Jade would've made a decision, but
understood why she was hesitant on deciding which one to go with and
seeing that maybe going with both ideas and choosing to use one over
the other depending on the situation. After Jade left Baco headed out
of the meeting room to start working on things that he had on his
to-do list.

[USS Chimera] SD 240902.01 [SB Unity] Duty Log Part 2, Amb. Alecto Ayanami, EA Ambassador

------------
Start Part 2
------------

Alecto had sensed the man coming in and his gait indicated uncertainty.
She turned and saw he was wearing a standard Starfleet Uniform with a
blue trimmed collar rather than the Starfleet Special Forces variation.
She also noted he was carrying her katana the tip of which and the
blood runnels in it still contained Klingon blood.  He replied with a nervous
smile.  "No thank you sir, I cant whilst on duty but I will definitely keep it
in mind for after I finish my shift.  I just came to return this to Ambassador
Ayanami."

Alecto noted the details about the young Ensign.  Elevated heart rate,
obviously nervous and that smell…aftershave?  Unusual for a medic
anyway.  Her notations complete she set about her course of actions
and gave him a dazzling smile.  "Why thank you Ensign.  It was so very
kind of you to bring this back to me.  To show my gratitude, bring your
friends here tonight and your drinks will be put on my tab.  One good
favour does deserve another.  The food is good here as well so feel free
to order.  I might be in here later as well so perhaps we can have a drink
together then?"

As if in homage to her skills the Ensign actually blushed as he handed over
the katana.  Alecto deliberately allowing her fingers to gently brush his
causing his blush to deepen.  "I'm honoured.  I would enjoy that very
much Ma'am."

"Please no need for formalities.  Call me Alecto although if you could
return the favour and tell me your name?"  Alecto said in a pleasant
tone.

"Leon Fairfield, Ma…Alecto."  He said his nerves easily visible even to
the untrained eye.

"Well until later then Leon Fairfield.  I look forward to our meeting again."
She treated him to one of her best smiles and watched as he nodded
backing out of the room almost tripping up on the stairs leading down
into the bar.

The barman placed her salad down in front of her and said, "Looks like
you have quite the admirer.  He may be quite disappointed that you
won't be in tonight."

Alecto shrugged nonchalantly taking a rag down off the bar surface
and wiped down the blade of the katana removing the dark Klingon
blood.  "Give him my apologies and say that something important
came up.  I'm sure you can handle that whilst I pay a visit to our
Klingon neighbours and their guests."
