Baco was looking over some old articles from the R&D
department trying to find ideas that they could use to
either eliminate communication jamming fields or at least be
able to cut through them. The problem was trying to find
something that wouldn't make a new target for the enemy to
shoot at, but that could be dealt with the problem was
finding what they could use to disrupt the jamming field.

Baco stood up and walked over to one of the computers and
entered in a search for older research articles on listening
posts. The idea was to use the listening posts to re-direct
the message to the ship using Jade's idea of the cycling
program and also the listening post can increase the
strength of the signal. If it would work they would also
have to find a way to either get a shield emitter on it or
find someway to hide what it really was Baco added all of
these ideas and some info on all of it on the PADD and
walked over to where LtJg Dexter was working.

"Sir I have some ideas to bounce off of you for that side
project the boss wanted us to work on." Baco said setting
the PADD down on the table and pulling up a chair.

Martin Dexter stiffened a yawn and looked at Baco. After
spending hours working on his console, he was rather
stretched and tired. Half an hour in a gym and eight hours
of sleep would do wonders with his condition … but with
all the tasks operations had to deal with … it was just a
dream.

He took the offered PADD and looked at the first page.
Looking up he addressed Baco: "Maybe you can tell me a bit
about those ideas, Ensign" he said and looked down at the
PADD again.

"Yes sir." Baco said hitting a few buttons that each seat had in front
of them, so they could bring something up on the big screen easily.
"Will the idea is simple we use something small to help strengthen the
signal or maybe even bypassing the jamming field entirely." Baco said
getting excited about this project.

"But we still run into the problem had having something out there that
the enemy can shoot at and a smaller problem is that she wanted
something to get rid of the jamming field, so we wouldn't have to
worry about bypassing or even strengthening the signal." Baco said
pulling up pictures of a small looking old fashioned satellite.

"Jamming breaking is always hard, unless one has superior
equipment, but I fear this is not our case. I like your
ideas, but we come always back to the single problem of
protecting whatever device will relay our communication. But
maybe there is a solution … what about using a shuttle to
do that? It can be modified to serve as a relay station, has
engines to move or hide if necessary and has shields for
protection as well."

"That could work, but wouldn't that just mean that we would need to
risk lives to man it.?" Baco said and asked at the same time, "I mean
with a satellite it can be unmanned and we could put like a small
cloaking device or a small shield generator and we wouldn't have to
risk some people to man the shuttle or fighter." Baco said thinking
that making someone man something that has a good chance of being
destroyed.

"Maybe we could employ some of the superior fighters from
Xerxe's wing … together with a good pilot, there is not
much that could endanger such a 'relay'

"I'm still seeing that as a problem it would be taking a fighter away
or even a squad away which could be used to protect something more
important like the ship or something that we've been tasked to
protect." Baco said. "Where as a satellite we could have multiple of
them and they're a lot cheaper to make then a shuttle or a fighter and
if does get blown up no one dies." Baco added.

Dexter nodded: "true … but, with a blown satellite we
have no communication then. As I see it, we have now two
alternatives. First one – employing a fighter shuttle with
modifications that would serve as a relay node or second –
using a cloaked satellite to do the same job. Both have
advantages and disadvantages. Let's call the boss and let
her decide ..."

"Lt Reese this is Ens Baco if you're not busy myself and Lt Dexter
would like to see you in the meeting room." Baco said into his COMM
piece.

"I'll be right there Ensign." Jade said standing, "we'll finish the
shift roster later." Jade said to her yeoman. After she stood up she
picked up her coffee and headed out of her office and headed to the
meeting room minuets later Jade walked into the meeting room, "alright
you two why have you called me?" Jade asked.

The weaker side of Dexter's would prefer to say nothing
and leave Baco to speak, but obviously the Ensign thought
the same. For a moment none there was a silence but then
Dexter finally said:"ma'am … we have analyzed the
problem of breaking comm. Jamming in place and have two
possible solution for you. Both have advantages and
disadvantages and we were unable to agree on a single
one". Dexter then explained about the two solutions
briefly and added: "so we thought that the final decision
is to mad by you … madam"

Jade took the two PADDs and looked over them and saw the advantages
and disadvantages for both of them, but before she would make a choice
she would want to speak with Marine Captain Anya Xerxes to get her
opinion on this and also to see if one of her men would even consider
being a pilot on a craft and take on the risks of flying the craft.

"Let me run this by the squadron commander and once I get done with
that I'll make my decision and if we get the go ahead from the higher
ups we'll start on the programming and development of the craft or
satellite." Jade said standing up picking up both PADDs and her coffee
and heading back to her office, so she could finish up the shift
schedule.

Dexter looked at Baco like saying: "See? I told you". He then
shrugged his shoulders and thought that it's good not to
have to decide. The life of an junior officer was quite
easy, wasnt it?

Baco just nodded he wished that Jade would've made a decision, but
understood why she was hesitant on deciding which one to go with and
seeing that maybe going with both ideas and choosing to use one over
the other depending on the situation. After Jade left Baco headed out
of the meeting room to start working on things that he had on his
to-do list.
