[USS Chimera] 240901.01, NPC Log, Capt Trent Rodgers
=U.S.S. Lancelot=
Sitting quietly watching the stars streak by on the main viewscreen,
Captain Trent Rodgers felt uneasy, but relieved. After months of
combat, the crew of the Lancelot was finally going to get a few days
of well deserved shore leave while the ship was updated with
improved weapons systems.
Meanwhile, Trent was going to be able to spend some time with his
brother, who was making little progress. The doctors continued to
make promises, and Trent knew they were doing their best, but in
this case, their best wasn't enough.
In a way, he didn't look forward to returning to Earth. He didn't
want to see Ricky in his current condition. Sarah, Trent's wife and
Rick's sister-in-law, had done her best to help make Ricky
comfortable, and Mai had made a couple of trips to Earth to be with
her husband. Trent just felt helpless whenever he saw Ricky. He
blamed himself for putting Rick in the middle of his own problems.
"ETA to Earth," Trent said from the captain's chair.
"Four hours and 22 minutes," the helms officer replied.
Trent stood, stretching his arms above him.
"I'll be in my ready room," he said.
Moments later, he walked behind his desk when he saw a message
flashing on his computer screen. He leaned forward to take a closer
look.
Trent allowed himself to grin for a brief moment.
The message was short and to the point and there was no mention
of where it originated, but Trent understood what it meant and knew
who had sent it.

[USS Chimera] Sd 240812.31 USS Chimera-C Duty Log: Cmdr Summers / Lt Fisher
*** Sickbay * USS Chimera-C ***
Scott stood with a medpadd in his hands, comparing readings
from the biofunction monitor with similar ones taken an hour
before.
" You're doing very well." he said noting down a result and
flashed a smile to his patient who lay on the biobed looking
far from 'very well'
"Good." she said catching the end of his smile and returning
a weaker version. " I feel better." she added.
Rangi had been out of the stasis unit for thirty six hours
and was in fact doing exactly as Scott had said.
She had spent time in intensive care but was now in a
private room where she would continue to receive treatment.
Once she was well enough to ask questions, she had hardly
stopped and Scott had had to explain in fine detail the work
they had achieved in repairing the DNA sequences.
He had soon learned that it was better to answer her
questions thoroughly rather than skim over details.
At first her recovery had been slow but things went well and
as her strength returned, so did her desire to know what was
happening in her department despite Scotts protests that
everything was fine and she had no need to worry about
anything.
"How's Jardan?" she asked and in answer to Scotts quick
glance of surprise explained that she had heard the chief of
Security had arrived in sickbay by emergency transport.
"He's fine." Scott told her looking up at the monitor and
she frowned.
"He wouldnt be here if he was fine would he?" she asked
reasonably.
"Don't worry about it." Scott said patiently." Just look
after your own recovery."
" I need to know." she said with a hint of insistence.
"No you don't." Scott said signing off the medpadd. He met
her steely gaze. " I'm acting CMO...trust me." he said.
Her lips formed a straight line of annoyance. " I do trust
you....but I 'am' the CMO." she said "...and I'd like to
know what's going on."
Scott sighed.
"He's been treated for a stab wound to the left side of his
chest..retained hemothorax, intercostal bleeders, a lung
laceration and a fractured rib.... He's fine... ok?" He
raised his eyebrows with an expression that dared her to
question him further.
" Stabbed?" she said, her blue grey eyes lighting with
interest.
Scott cursed himself for giving her too much information.
"Yes." he said.
"Where?" she asked.
"In the Brig..by a prisoner." he replied , forestalling the
next demand.
{In the Brig...the Romulan prisoners?} She stared at her
covered toes as she thought it out.
"Where did they get the knife?" she asked a moment later
returning her attention to the AMO.
"He didn't." Scott said, turning away. " it was a sharp
piece of plastic."
"Where did they get it fr..."
"Drink that." Scott said firmly as he held out a slim
tumbler of liquid inches from her chin.
Rangi groaned. " I only just had some." she said peevishly.
" Yes..and you'll have some more in another half an hour."
Scott replied.
She met his eyes but took the tumbler from him and drank
down the unappetising contents, ending with a shudder as she
handed it back.
"Excellent!" Scott exclaimed despite the scowl she gave him.
He placed the empty vessel on to the medtray and looked back
at her.
"If...IF..." he repeated, stressing the word "...if you
continue like this with plenty of rest and no pestering
about other patients, then I 'might' allow you to get up
later and make a call."
A smile slowly widened across his face as he saw her
expression change.
"Really?" she said eagerly.
"Only if you have a rest now." he said making the most of
the opportunity to bribe her.
" Have you called again?" she asked.
" Yes I did. I spoke to Pakosii. He asked if the call was
urgent..he would interrupt a meeting he said."
Rangi gave a slight nod, understanding that Shane might well
have told his aide to inform him of any calls from Chimera
sickbay. She waited for Scott to continue.
" I told him to tell the Commodore that you were out of
intensive care, were doing much better and was in fact well
enough to annoy me."
Rangi stared at him then laughed. " No you didn't!" she
said.
" Yes I did." Scott replied "....because then the Commodore
would know that you really are on the road to recovery."
He smiled down at her. " I also told him to say that I was
hopeful of you being able to call Unity yourself later today
and Pakosii said he would gladly pass on the message."
Rangi smiled up at him. " Thankyou." she said.
" So now you need to rest...no more questions about Jardan
or retroviruses or anything else. If I think you're fit to
move in a few hours time then I'll allow you to call the
starbase...it's up to you." Scott told her.
They exchanged a look which silently said that Rangi would
do anything to have the chance to speak to Shane and that
Scott knew that very well.
She smiled and settled herself on the biobed. Scott
straightened the coverlet.
" I'll be back later." he said.
She watched him cross the room to the door and exit, leaving
her alone and in peace. She sighed a small happy sigh of
contentment pleased at the prospect of talking to Shane.
Some moments passed.
{I wonder where he got the plastic from?} she thought. {How
come security was so lax to allow it?}
She frowned again as her thoughts turned to Romulans but
then mindful of Scotts warning she dismissed the thoughts
from her mind and determined to sleep.
In less than two minutes, she was successful.

[USS Chimera] SD 240812.31 || CO Log || Captain Rojac ||
[Ready Room - Deck 1 - USS Chimera-C]
"Computer, authorization Rojac-alpha-six." The Captain bellowed aloud as he sat behind his large wooden desk and cleared the bit's of data in his LCARS desktop.
[Clearance authorized. State requested file.] The computer replied after a soft, confirming tone.
"All engineering specifications on Sensor outpost 0071, include classified material." He said, and watched as a status box appeared in the middle of his desk. The download bar completed it's cycle and the computer gave another soft tone before a myriad of files erupted onto Rojac's desktop.
He touched and dragged several files to the side until he found the one he wanted. It was a detailed deck specifications file that broke down the small station down room by room. He pulled up a communique program, typed a message to his Security Chief, and forwarded it with the file attached. It read:
LtJG Jardan,
Attached you will find a complete deck listing and blueprints for Sensor Outpost 0071. I want you to (1) find the best spot for a covert infiltration, (2) find the prime location where one might hold hostages, and (3) plan a course of action to rescue said hostages.
-Captain Rojac
After the message sent, Rojac flipped around to the statistics on the Outposts' cloaking and deflector shield systems. He typed up a message to his CEO:
LtCmdr Scardona,
Have a look over these files. I want to know if it's possible for us to transport through these systems. Have a look at the nutation cycles and tell me the likelihood of a successful infiltration. Prepare your findings for the scheduled senior staff briefing.
-Captain Rojac
He wrote similar messages for other members of the senior staff. His XO, Cmdr Trzetrzelewska, was in charge of the operation that deployed station 0071. Her task was to use her knowledge of the network distribution to figure out how the Romulans could have taken the station, and how the Chimera might do the same thing. The science was assigned to perform a similar duty, more specifically to how they Romulans had detected the network in the first place.
He then set to work planning his course of attack. But he would have to tread carefully. He needed to know how many warbirds, if any, would he be dealing with? And how many Romulans were aboard the outpost? He needed reconnaissance. And he knew just the person to ask. He typed up a memo for Captain Xerxes, asking her to plan a flight path for the Chimera's assigned Shadow team for a covert recon operation of outpost 0071. He asked for a speedy reply.
It was about that time that he recived a message from the on watch operations officer on the bridge.
+Captain.+
"Rojac here. What's going on?" He asked, sounding rather impatient.
+Sir, Lieutenant Jardan has just been beamed in emergency to sickbay. Reports indicate he's been stabbed by one of the prisoners.+
Rojac slammed a fist into his desktop. "Damn it!" He grunted. "We're not even into the first mission yet and people are already trying to die on me. Get a Security Officer and the Master at Arms to my office on the double."
+Aye sir. Ops out.+

***Security Brig*** Tommy looked at the Romulan med tech and scowled.A few minutes ago, he had been in his quarters when he had gotten word that one of the infiltrators wanted to speak to him. Now he was here, and so far the man had not spoken a word. " You said you had something to say to me? Well, better speak up. I'm not in the habit of standing around just to watch you smirk stupidly." Tommy folded his arms and waited. The romulan smirked for a few more minutes, then started to speak. " You Starfleet do not haave the vagest idea of what it means to fight a war, do you? Oh, I'm aware of your recent troubles with the Dominion and all that, but really you just lucked out." Tommy interrupted the speech," If you just wanted to insult us this conversation isover. I did not..." Before he could finish the Romulan laughed. " how easy it is to get you mad. It's quite enlightening. You could learn so much from what you can observe, if you really try. All your tactics to date rely on the instincts of your commanders without trying to see the big picture." The Romulan paused. By this time Tommy had stood up straight, and now he moved to the doorway." Good bye, prisoner. It seems our conversation is over." The Romulan, however, moved quicker. He ran over to Tommy and pulled out, from his arm, a piece of plastic. He stabbed the plastic into Tommy's chest, and as Tommy fell, two of the guards ran in and tackled him. On the ground the infiltrator looked at Tommy's face and smiled. " There are more of us out there. Maybe on the ship. Maybe back at the starbase...." The Romulan laughed, " Maybe on Earth, serving on your precious council? But you will not be able to help." Suddenly, the Romulan bit down hard on to his teeth, then started to convuls. Soon he was dead. The guards started checking to see if there was anymore surprises in store. One of them went to check on Tommy. " He is still alive! Quick, get him to sickbay!" As the guard shouted, the other ran to the wall and hit a switch+ Emergency! One to beam directly to sickbay! Energize!+ Tommy last thought before he passed out was( On the council!). End Log Lt. - Summary (by Rangi)
-------------------------
Jackson told Vlimar of a strange transmission from one of
the cloaked Outposts. Vlimar listened to the message and
immediately contacted the Commodore who in turn contacted a
sleepy Rojac and ordered him to investigate.
Rangi diagnosed appendisitis for the ailing Mimi and Gustav
reassured his girlfriend that he loved her before she was
sent for surgery.
Jardan told Rangi about the two Romulans in the Brig who had
taken on the appearance of medical personnel
Scott was summoned to the CMOs office where Rangi told him
she couldnt continue working as she felt so ill. An
examination revealed her to be seriously unwell and with her
condition deteriorating and not able to find a cause, Scott
and Syrok placed the CMO into stasis.
Shane broadcast a message throughout the starbase explaining
its stregic place and outlining new restrictions that had
come into force.
Jade was not overly impressed by a confident new recruit and
selected a surprised Dexter as well as the recruit to meet
her in her office.
Scott told Rojac about Rangis situation and was confirmed as
acting CMO. He informed Shane too and learned of a possible
Romulan involvement.
Syrok and Scott discovered an enzyme inhibitor as the cause
of Rangis condition and set to work on finding a solution.
Rojac held the but of the shotgun beneath his armpit and
sighted down the barrel. It was a nice gun of sturdy
construction. Rojac felt sorry for any sentient being that
was ever stuck on the business end.
Tommy took back the rifle and took down another. " I do not
know why, but we have four of these, sir. It's called the
tr-116. It's a sniper rifle. Not very useful in a intraship
battle, but if we get into a planetside hostage situation,
It will prove to be useful." Tommy waited for Rojac took
look over the rifle.
"I'll see if I can find some situation where you can try it
out, Lieutenant." Rojac smiled, before shouldering the
weapon and testing the scope. "Interesting. I bet it could
come in very useful. I might have to test it in the firing
range later."

He could try a keep fit DVD?.....
It was unusually quiet in the quarters that belonged to
Rangi, Shane and Martin. Usually, it was all busy with
little Martin and his games and with two adult persons
trying to keep up with him. But now … with only Shane
there is was sad and quiet. The only company Shane had for
the moment, was a glass of dry red wine –

[USS Chimera] SD 240812.27. USS Chimera-C Duty Log (part 2): Lt Fisher AMO / Lt Syrok AMO 9npc)
*** Sickbay * USS Chimera-C ***
Scott set the plate of sandwiches down beside Syrok.
"Cheese and...I dont know what that was." he said eyeing the
plate suspiciously. He took a seat and reached for a morsel,
chewing on it thoughtfully for a moment or two. " Tastes
like pasta!." he said under his breath. He leaned back in
his chair and stretched his acheing muscles.
He and Sryok had worked through the night and now sat in the
small med team lounge waiting for results to come through.
Syrok frowned... the human habit of eating whatever just
pleased them was a bit disgusting:
"If Commander Summers has been poisoned and if she was so
careless in her choice of food as you are, then perhaps we
already know the reason of her intoxication." he replied and
took a sip from his Vulcan tea. A lovely blank taste of
dishwater.
Scott chewed on thinking that Syroks attempt at sarcasm was
sadly lacking.
" Try one." he said pointing at the sandwiches."...you might
be surprised." He raised his own half eaten portion as
though making a toast, popped it into his mouth and grinned.
The look that Syrok gave to Scott was so cold that it could
probably manufacture a superconductive material. "No...
thank you. I believe it is time we return to the laboratory.
The results should be available by now."
Scott pushed himself to his feet, swallowing the last of his
sandwich and followed Syrok out of the lounge. The tests had
been inconclusive and some had been refined. It was in these
that the two doctors hoped to find a solution. They walked
step in step back to the research department.
**
Syrok focused his attention back to the console. There had
to be an answer. It just wasn't obvious. He reviewed the
multispectral results but it showed no sigh of any toxins or
anomalous elements in the organism.
"All right, we need to take a look to the submolecular
level."
He pressed a few buttons to enhance the resolution and
suddenly he noticed something in the villi intestinales
membrane.
"Look at this, what do you think it might suggest?" he said
to the Scott.
Scott too had his attention on the screen. " Go back a
second." he said suddenly leaning more forward."
There....and there...do you see it?"
"Indeed, the Jejunus membranes." The part of the small
intestine that is responsible for food procesing and
nutrients absorbtion looked different.
"The enzymes that usually break down the more complet
elements are not present at all and the membrane itself
seems not to be semipermeable anymore."
He tapped a few more commands and the display changed again
now showing the genetic structure of the intestine.
"Here, there have been a slight change in the genom. Very
insignifficant so the scans didn't picked it up, but really
complex and localized that they have triggered the reaction
that prevented her body from absorbing any nutrients at all.
Now we just have to find out how to reverse it."
" Too simple to be considered!" Scott said." Isnt that what
they say?..the most obvious thing is right in front of you?
Enzyme inhibiters and we overlooked that."
He slapped Syrok on his arm " We got it." he said as though
everything was solved in a moment.
It wasn't ofcourse and next moment he grew more serious.
" I have to inform the Commodore of the findings " he said."
For one thing he's worried sick about Rangi and for
another..she might not be the only one affected in this way.
We have no idea where this originated."
He turned away then stopped and looked back at the Vulcan
doctor.
" Do you recall an incidence in the Sol Draconis system?" he
asked. " A small colony died there didnt it? Am I right in
thinking they starved to death...or at least appeared to
have done so?...but wasnt there plentiful food supplies?"
"Perhaps, but as far as I know there hasn't been any
investigation on that matter. Please inform the Commodore
and then we will focus on repairing the DNA sequences. I'd
suggest a retrovirus as a carrier of the changes."
"Please begin preparations." Scott said." I'll be back in
few minutes."
He turned awayand still thinking over the half remembered
case, headed for the CMOs office. He was sure the Sol
Draconis system was relatively close to Romulan space.
{The colony had been mostly miners hadnt it} he asked
himself. It annoyed him not to have the full history come
to mind but he knew the Commodore would either be aware of
it or would find out soon enough. The main point was that
there was a link, if only a tentative one, with Romulans.

By the time Scott returned to the research dpeartment, Syrok
already had some results from Scotts request to Unity. He
had to work from the first possible supposition that Rangis
illness originated in something she had ingested and had
asked for as many details as possible.
The Vulcan doctor turned to him as Scott enetered the room.
" Any luck?" Scott asked not really expecting anything.
Without turning his head away from the display, Syrok
answered: "Despite that luck has nothing to do with that,
there is one thing about the scans that is not all right.
Look on the level of glucosis in her blood, almost none. And
the results also show that she's anaemic. This is very
strange."
Scott nodded agreement, despite the fact Syroks back was
turned. He joined his colleague at the work bench.
"You've seen the drastic drop in levels?" he asked knowing
that Syrok would have checked everything." I've spoken to
Commodore Guzman." Scott continued " He's promised us any
help we need...anything."
"Yes." he moved to make a space for Scott. "This and her
other symptoms, fatigue, elevated temperature, dizziness and
have you noticed how pale her skin looks?" He looked
directly to Scott's eyes. "My first guess would be a
malnutrition, but so far I haven't been able to find the
cause."
" I know she hasnt been eating properly for a few
days...exactly how many I'm not sure though." he added
frowning at the thought. " Up until Thursday I think toast
had been a main staple of her diet...that and water." He
pulled forward a microscope that displayed the same sample
that Syrok had been studying.
"That would hardly be a reason for malnutrition. It is not
healthy, but a few days don't result in such severe drop of
values."
" I know that." Scott replied raising his head and glancing
sideways at the Vulcan "...but we dont know exactly how long
its been since she ate properly." He saw the eyebrow raise a
fraction on Syroks face. " Ok.." he said "...thats not the
cause of malnutrition but you're correct in saying her
symptoms suggest it." He turned back to the microscope.
"The next logical step is to test the samples for any viral
or bacteriological infection that would be able to cause
those symptoms, but that has already been done and with no
results. So now I'd suggest we look for a traces of toxins.
My hypothesis is that she might be suffering from some sort
of poisoning." He turned back to the console but then paused
for one more moment. "It also might be useful to learn
about the people she's been interacting with during past
seven days."
Scott straightened up, pushing the equipment away. " Im
hoping we'll hear about that soon." he said. "The Commodore
is asking Joeleco to trace Rangis movements...the results
for a list of replicated meals should be here anytime
soon...and I asked the Commodore whether he or their son
have been unwell. They haven't."
He seemed to consider something as he watched Syrok adjust a
setting. " Syrok." he said quietly and when the Vulcan
doctor looked at him explained:
" The Captain wants this to be a top priority case and the
Commodore has referred to something that I can share with
you on a strictly 'need to know' basis. There is a strong
possibility that Romulans are involved in this."
Such non reasonal fast conclusion startled Syrok a little
bit so he raised hiis eybrows and even leaned his head a
bit.
"The Romulans. And on what facts do you base this theory?
Has commander been contacted by Romulans or in any other way
in touch with them? By some operative, subspace messages or
any other means of communication?"
"Not as far as I know." Scott answered. ...but the
Commodore told me that Intel had indicated that Romulans
would be interested in her life...or death. I take that to
mean...that they have her on a sort of Hit List."
"Very well then, if there is evidence from Stafleet
Intelligence, then we should probably investigate the
possibility of poisoning. We should focus on a thinn colon
which is responsible for nutrition absorption. Also I'd
recommend a full spectral scan of the tissue and blood
samples. It will take longer, but will provide us with more
data."
"Agreed." Scott replied simply.

[USS Chimera] SD 240812.27 Joint Duty Log, Lieutenant Scott Fisher & Commodore Shane Guzman
*** Sickbay * USS Chimera-C ***
After talking to the Captain, Scott stood up, crossed to the
replicator for some coffee then returned to his place and
requested a secure channel to Commodore Guzman SB Unity.
There was a delay and he settled himself more comfortably in
Rangis chair as the SSF Logo remained on the screen in front
of him.
He tapped in his details when requested and the logo
returned, this time slowly revolving in a some clever 3D
effect which, Scott imagined, some designer would have
thought entertaining in a mind numbing sort of way. Scott
drummed his fingers impatiently on the desk top and at the
next request, tapped in his personal code and authorization.
He ran a hand across his chin which, now unshaven, was dark
shadow. Eventually Pakosii appeared on the screen.
As usual, Pakosii's day was filled with dozen of calls
from across the quadrant (even from other quadrants) from
many people – Starfleet, Federation civilian government,
alien power officials, traders, soldiers of fortune and
other folks requesting to speak with the Special Forces 1st
Task Force Commander. His task as aide was to filter those
requests and patch only the really important ones.
This particular call was from the Chimera and since she was
a member of the 1st Task Force and therefore under
Commodore's immediate command, he swiftly turned his
attention to the call.
"Lieutenant Pakosii, office of Special Forces 1st Task
Force Commander" he introduced himself, "how can I help
you?" he finished.
" Scott Fisher AMO USS Chimera-C...acting CMO. I need to
speak with the Commodore 'immediately'." Scott said,
stressing the last word and hoping that Pakosii would notice
the name of the ship and the mention of acting position and
realize that the reason was urgent.
Pakosii was no field officer, no trained marine or killer or
field agent. He had only meager knowledge of engineering,
medical, tactical or other usual Starfleet areas ... he was
rather a beaurocrat. His world were formulars, requests,
schedules and meetings ... what meant that he was half a
politician. He could sense the urgency in Fisher's words
and he knew that Commodore's gf was the CMO on Chimera ...
so he nodded immediately and said: "I understand, I
contact the Commodore, please stand by".
It took less then half a minute before Shane's face
appeared on the screen: "Lieutenant Fisher" Shane said,
"what happened? Where is Rangi?" he asked with deep
concern in his voice.
Scott didnt hesitate but came straight to the point. " I'm
sorry Sir...she's in a stasis unit as of about an hour ago."
Shane was taken unprepared by this ill news. His face went
somewhat white and he asked: "What happened?"
"She complained of feeling unwell a couple of days ago. I
treated her for nausea which she'd had morning and evening
for a few days. She told me though that she'd felt unwell
for a week or more...since before she left Unity. This
afternoon she called me to her office and told me she
couldnt continue as CMO. She was obviously far from well and
we took her to an emergency room."
Now he stopped because the positive news was coming to an
end.
"Her condition deteriorated rapidly Sir. Dr Syrok and
I..were working against something we don't understand
Sir."
Shane shook his head: "Once again and slowly,
Lieutenant" he requested. "You say that Rangi was
feeling unwell for a couple of days and you don't know
what's the reason?"
" Yes Sir." Scott replied." Thats...thats correct. I thought
it was a stomach upset...something of that nature."
"And now her condition is that dangerous that you put her
in stasis? DO I understand you right that is in danger of
dying?" his face was now quite white.
Scott understood the anger that faced him from the screen
though he had somehow expected Shane to take things more
calmly. Later he would ask himself why he had thought that
but now he answered ina level and unhurred tone: " No
sir,...she's in stasis...she wont die."
"What the hell are you for a doctor !?" Shane yelled,
"she complained to you a couple of days ago and you were
not competent enough to help her !?"
Scott had no immediate answer for Shanes accusations were,
in a way, well founded.
" I treated her for what I believed to be the problem Sir. "
he responded "..unfortunately that didnt prove to be the
answer."
Shane took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a moment.
When he spoke again, the anger in his voice was gone ...
{but where?} "I am sorry, doctor. I am sure you did
everything possible to her Rangi. I ... I apologize"
"No need Sir. I'm sorry that i have to tell you this." Scott
replied.
Shane took a deep breath again and asked: "Could the
ROmulans be involved in this in any way? I have some
references from Intel that Romulans might be interested in
Rangi's life ... or death …"
Shanes words added to the veiled warning that Rojac had
given Scott earlier. It began to fit too well. "There could
be a possibility." he replied slowly but added " I cant say
Sir....honestly...I have no idea what's wrong with her. "
Shane looked down and Scott could guess the helplessness. "
Commodore." he said in a stronger tone and waiting until
Shane looked up then asked :" I need your help. I've
requested details of everything that Rangi ate and
drank...all the replicated snacks and meals. I have to start
there...but I want you to think...was there anything else
that she consumed...anything at all. Did she make a meal
herself? Did you give her...chocolates...or..anything like
that?"
"Hmm … " Shane thougt, "I am not certain, but I
think Rangi had a meal in some restaurant the day she left
UNITY. I was busy and couldn't join her, but I am not sure
where and when. I'll ask Captain Joeleco, our Chief
security to track down Rangi's movement for the last
several days and get in touch with you"
" Another thing Sir...have you or Martin been unwell? Have
either of you experienced anything thats bothered you? I ask
because this began before Rangi left Unity. It didn't
originate aboard Chimera."
Shane shook his head: "No, both of us are all right.
Martin in not on board the UNITY for a week now, but I know
that he was all right even yesterday. I have no health
problem either, so I suppose whatever happened … it
happened to Rangi alone"
Scott gave an inward sigh. It had been too much to hope that
the Commodore or his son had been unwell...not that he
wanted them to be but it could have helped if they had
been.
" It would seem so Sir." he replied sounding a bit deflated.
" I'd appreciate all help that Joeleco can give...and if you
think of anything...anything at all that rangi
did..ate..drank..where she went...anything out of the
ordinary..please tell me. I'm grasping at straws but
hopeful of finding a lead soon." He tried to sound
optimistic.
Shane nodded: "Of course, doctor. I'll contact now
Captain Joeleco and tell my aide that you're green to
contact me at any time. I'd like to ... ask you to report
me any news regarding Rangi's state. Please don't
hesitate to ask for any help or resources you think might be
needed."
