Major Giellera Kinn did as Rangi requested and a few moments
later Petty Officer H'ar'ta Juvpha entered Rangis office.
She was a Stellar Cartographer and, typical of the Thelusian
species, was a tall slender person with golden hair and
amber eyes.
Rangi waited until H'ar'ta was seated then asked whether she
had had cause to need any Diophelytine in recent weeks.
Rangi used the reason of a possible recording error as she
had before.
The Petty Officer replied that she hadn't and explained
that she did not need it, being content to remain in the
female gender most of the time.
It was only during R and R, she said, that she allowed the
Thelusian aspect of variable gender to come into play, and
then infrequently.
She had never requested Diophelytine and did not intend to
in the foreseeable future. Rangi thanked her, told her that
was all and asked that she send Crewman Iliabodn in.
Once again Rangi explained that due to a possible mistake,
the actual amount of Diophelytine in stock was less than
records showed and enquired whether Iliabodn had requested
some.
This was a long shot, for although Onroths such as Iliabodn
needed the drug to delay a metamorphosis, it was unlikely
that the crewman would be needing it at this young stage in
his life.
He said he understood Rangis questioning him but that it
would be many years before he needed to use the drug and
that his Starfleet career would almost certainly be over by
then.
Rangi thanked and dismissed him then sat back to write the
report.
It stated that:
Two containers of Diophelytine had been tampered with in
Storeroom 8.
Every one of the six vials in both containers was empty
although during the last stock check twenty weeks
previously, they had been full.
Records showed that no patient had required the drug during
that time and that no medical staff had administered it.
Rangi had questioned the three personnel who would have need
of the dug, namely Major Giellera Kinn, the Adjunct
Intelligence Advisor,Petty Officer H'ar'ta Juvpha, a Steller
Cartographer and Crewman Taraa Iliabodn, a Engineering
specialist and was satisfied they had no connection to the
drugs disappearance.
No civillians had checked into the infirmary in need of
having their biomimetic functions stabilised.
A search of the infirmary which had been carried out under
T'Vels orders had proven fruitless.
Rangi now had to hand the problem to Lt Colonel Vlimar
PontBrillant who, in his position as XO, would carry out
further enquiries.
The report was sent and Rangi shook her head. It was indeed
a mystery and she wondered at the outcome.
