[Sickbay - Deck Two - USS Detector]

" I'd like to see Captain Chisulo now" Rangi had stated flatly.

It wasn't the first time she had made the request but the CMO had insisted on a physical examination and had been very thorough about it. They had stared at each other in silence, one thinking that he would'nt be hurried and the other that she would use her position to her advantage if he refused. The CMO finally, grudgingly agreed but with conditions. She must eat a nourishing meal first and 'would she like to freshen up and change into new clothes?'

Rangi had looked down at herself and accepted that he was right, for she was dressed casually and the outfit was much the worse for wear. It seemed such a long time ago that she and Martin had made their way towards the transporter room, eager to travel to Aeran and the seaside holiday that awaited them.

So " Thankyou, yes" she had replied and the CMO had arranged for a yeoman to show Rangi the way to some quarters.

When she had emerged from a long soothing shower, she had found replicated replacements of her own clothes waiting, folded neatly on a chair and a modest meal, of which she ate little, set out on a tray in the main room. Now, refreshed and definately looking neater, she  headed towards the Bridge.

[Bridge - Deck One - USS Detector]

The bridge crew was hurried monitoring the progress of the Away Team and the activities on the station. Things were getting hot, but Chisulo sat in the center seat and remained cool, stoic, and serene. He sat in the command chair and soaked up all the incoming reports shouted in his direction.

"I'm detecting increased sensor activity from the station." The Science Officer called. "And power is being routed to their defense systems."

"I have multiple life-signs moving to the lower section of the station." The operations chief reported. "Major Kinn and Corporal Waters are with them." He paused for a moment. "They are haling."

"Patch it through." Chisulo replied.

+Captain,+ Giella greeted Chisulo quickly. +I apologise for breaking protocol by contacting you, but something's come up.+

Chisulo heard the whooshing sound of the turbolift doors opening and turned to see Commander Summers enter the room. He nodded quickly in acknowlegment, but turned his attention back   to Major Kinn. "What's going on, Major?"

+Corporal Waters and I are in the lower section where Commander Summers was held captive,+ she quickly explained. +When we came here we discovered a large number of cells occupied by not only captured Federation agents, but also a number of other agents including Erassians and Klingons. We've managed to pool our efforts together and have taken over the lower section to put up a resistance against the Romulans, but haven't succeeded in overriding the transporter inhibitor. One of the Klingon agents have sent a message to a nearby Klingon Intelligence outpost and they have three vessels en route to secure us. I'm requesting that you continue the mission without Corporal Waters and myself and that you contact Unity to send Federation assistance. I believe with our combined strength we can wrest the system from the Romulans and secure the station.+

"I will contact UNITY once we get out of sensor range of the station." Chisulo replied, waving a hand at helm to engage on the course he had set earlier. "Be safe, Major. And good luck."

+Yes, sir,+ Giella said before the channel closed.

The helm officer spoke as the communication ended, "Preparing for warp jump to the Qashqai's position, Captain."

"Engage when ready, Lieutenant." Chisulo replied, the quickly stood and turned to Commander Summers. "Commander, it is good to see you safe. I'm sure you have many  questions."

"Yes." she said both looking and sounding worried. She'd paused as Giella's report and request were made and now came to stand beside the Command chair looking at Chisulo directly. "Have they found  Harker and my son?" she asked.

Chisulo brought a hand to his chin. "Lance Corporal Zimmer transported aboard shortly after you did, and managed to bring downloaded copies of the station's most recent sensor logs. They show two human lifesigns boarding a small Romulan scout ship and departing the station."

It was what she had expected but even so, Rangi had hoped for a different answer. She gave of nod of understanding then asked: " Do you know where they are?"

"We have been able to track the ships trajectory to the Hrgok Sector, but the trail disappears after that." Chisulo said, calmly. "Our assumption is, that Harker, whom we are assuming is aboard, went under cloak to set a trap for Commodore Guzman - who mysteriously changed course to an X!Chi colony nearby. And he may be using Martin as leverage." Chisulo hated to be quite so blunt with the boy's mother, but Rangi was a Starfleet Officer and needed to know the brevity of the situation - no matter how hard it was to take.

It was true of course and Rangi knew it to be so. Harker would lure his old enemy into an impossible position then, most likely, would kill them both. She pressed her fingers hard against her forehead seeing in her minds eye, the smiling, trusting face of little Martin. Dropping her hand she remet Chisulos passive expression. "You're right.....but how much time do we have?...I don't think Harker will harm our son until he has the Commodore in his grasp but when he does......." she took a deep breath to subdue a rising fear. "What do you plan?" she asked.

"I plan to stop him, Commander." Chisulo replied. "Though I do not know how." He swiveled in his chair to face the viewscreen. "The Detector was not built for combat, but I have equipped her torpedo launchers with transphasic torpedoes. And she has one of the most effective cloaks in Starfleet. If it comes to combat, we will have to use guerrilla tactics."

Rangi turned away, looking at the view screen and feeling utterly helpless. She knew that Shane would not act rashly no matter how Harker tried to goad him but they were not alone now because soon Detector would be in play too and who knew what Harker would be capable of in a changed situation.

She looked back at Chisulo. "This is in your hands then." she said quietly.

"I will do my best, Commander." Chisulo replied.

"Sir, we are out of the Station's sensor range." The Helm officer replied.

"Good, send subspace text communication to UNITY. Ask for reinforcements to be sent to Major Kinn at Padassa Station. Inform them that three friendly Klingon vessels are en route." Chisulo ordered the communications officer.

"Aye, sir." Came the reply.

"How long, Lieutenant?" Chisulo asked the helm officer once more.

"Two hours, sir." The Lieutenant replied. "At least."

Chisulo swiveled back to face Rangi. "Commander, you better get some rest before then."

"I'll try." Rangi replied "but I'd like to be here on the bridge when you approach and for the duration." He could refuse the request but she hoped he wouldn't.

"Of course." Chisulo nodded.
