Jade was walking around on the promenade after finishing her
last class of the course the course went well. The officers
did will and should be better prepared for missions the
Cadets that were in the class still need some work but
they'll also be ready for battle.
Approaching from the opposite direction, little martin
Guzman, holding fast to his mothers hand, was telling her
how much he would like a double chocolate milk shake with
sprinkles on the top and hoping he could persuade her to
stop at the little coffee shop that they sometimes visited.
As she passed a shop window she stopped and looked at what
they had to offer it was a clothing store. Mainly women's
ware Jade wished she had occasions to wear civilian clothes
but with the war and everything it would be allow since she
would be able to.
"....only if I can have one too." Rangi said and smiled to
her little son who nodded eagerly.
They walked along and it was by chance that Rangi spotted
Jades figure.
" Oh Martin..." she said, slowing her steps "...I want to
have a quick word with someone.....come with me for a moment
please."
He followed where she led, hoping that the quick word would
indeed be 'quick'.
Jade had finished looking at the clothes and she started
heading towards the stairs that led down to the first floor
of the promenade when she almost ran into someone, "oh
sorry...." Jade started and then realizing who it was,
"Commander Summers good to see you again." Jade said
smiling.
" You too. " Rangi replied in like manner. " In fact, I was
hoping to have the chance to speak to you soon." She gave
martin a quick glance then, addressing Jade again suggested:
" We're on our way to the coffee shop...would you have time
to join us?"
Looking down at her child, "it sounds like it'll would make
a lovely afternoon." She said smiling at the both of them.
"So how have you been?" Jade asked as they headed for the
coffee shop.
" Busy " Rangi replied and Martin, eager to discover what
sort of person this new person was asked the question that
would define it forever.
" Do you like Chocolate Milkshake?" he asked.
"Of course I do." Jade said smiling, "I have one every
chance I get." She said she then looked up at Rangi, "your
son is very adorable." Jade said smiling.
" Thankyou." Rangi replied and glancing at Martin added in a
teasing tone "...he has his moments."
Martin,wasn't quite sure what adorable meant but it was
obviously something good to be, so he accepted it and smiled
back at Jade as they moved off in the direction of the
coffee shop.
Walking into the coffee shop Jade allowed Rangi and her son
to get in line first, "so what's good here besides the milk
shakes?" Jade asked as she looked at the menu.
"Everything." Martin said keenly, a reply which made them
both laugh.
"The muffins are good." Rangi suggested and when her turn
came, ordered one for herself and Martin chose the same.
Jade just smiled and walked up to the counter, "I'll have a
blueberry muffin and chocolate milk shake please." Jade said
as she turned and stepped out of the way and waited for her
food Which only took a second to get and they headed off to
find a table to sit at to make it easier to eat the milk
shakes and muffins.
" I wanted to ask your permission for something." Rangi
replied.
"It has to do with your recent history. There's a discussion
forum on one of the medical boards I contribute too and I'd
like to raise the subject there. It would mean though that
you might be asked to input your own experiences first hand.
Would you be willing to do that?"
Jade took a moment to think about it and to also taste the
best milk shake and muffins on UNITY. "Sure I'm fine with
it." Jade said as she took another sip of her milk shake,
"are the forums video or written?" She asked not caring
which one it was she just curious.
Rangi finished her mouthfull of muffin, swallowed it and
replied: " Ideally a live link but if you're not happy to
do that...lots of questions.." she smiled "...then a
transcript would do. I will ofcourse be giving my side of
it..test results and so on but its always good to have the
patient speak for themselves."
Martin,looked from one to the other as they spoke, sucking
through the straw and enjoying his milkshake.
"I've been in a live link" he announced and they both looked
at him enguiringly.
"When Daddy was away." he explained
"No a live link is fine." Jade said smiling and then looking
over at Martin and smiling, "did you enjoy being in a live
link?" Jade said looking at Martin.
Martin nodded as he drank from his straw. " Yes I did." he
said releasing it " Its fun."
"When would you like to do this?" Jade asked seeing how that
she really only had some paper work to get done and then she
just had to pack for the upcoming conferences that she was
going to attend.
" The first suggested date is next Tuesday at fouteen
hundred if you're free then. Rangi replied.
Jade just grinned at what Martin said, "your son is just
adorable." Jade said taking another sip of her milkshake,
"Tuesday at 1400 will be fine. I can put off doing paper
work for a bit." She said grinning.

some entertainment so blew into the straw creating lots of
bubbles and an interesting noise.
" Martin!" Rangi said immediately giving him a stern look.
He pushed the glass away and looked at Jade as Rangi said to
her:
"I'll confirm it then. I'm glad you agree to take part."
Jade couldn't but help laugh at Martin but quickly hid it seeing how that it might undermine the parent authority but she did give him a quick wink. "Alright then see you next Tuesday at 1400." Jade said standing up needing to get back to work mainly going through reports and signing things off. Before leaving she gave a quick nod to Rangi and a quick wave to Martin before heading out of the cafe.
