[USS Chimera] || SB 234: UNITY || SD 240906.23, Fleet Security Chief's Duty Log, LT. Mumacik

"shane.guzman@mojwap.sk" <shane.guzman@mojwap.sk> wrote to chimera@ucip.org:

====== VIP quarters area, VIP quarters 6, SB
234: UNITY ======

Mumacik was standing quiet, hiding behind the corner waiting
for his team to take positions. He had a full ODA team
present, six man and woman … all clad in light combat
armor. Usually, such an action would be performed by regular
security teams, but as Chief of Fleet level Security,
Mumacik decided that ODA teams need occasionally another
type of training then holodeck drills.

Expecting his team to need another 5 seconds to deploy,
Mumacik thought back about this assignment. Gamma (night)
shift operations registered unauthorized access to a VIP
quarters. Badge identification indicated two Starfleet
officers inside, Lieutenant Clara Lloyd, UNITY's promenade
quartermaster assistant officer and Marine Captain Channer
Davis, who was waiting for his assignment on the USS
Chimera.

Early in the morning, Mumacik was reviewing security and
operations logs from previous day like usual and this event
drew his attention. VIP quarters were a high security area
and such an accident should be at least checked – Mumacik
thought and contacted UNITY operations (alpha shift) and
asked about the status of the particular VIP quarters. Ops
officer in charge there stated that both officers seem still
to be inside and made a hint "maybe it's better not to
disturb them", but Mumacik dismissed the thought
immediately. Why not disturbing when both officers were not
supposed to be in that quarters and as a matter-of-fact were
violating the security protocol for UNITY's VIP area. Due
to the recent security problems on the station, Mumacik was
quite suspicious about every (no matter how small)
accidents. This could be a case for security if there were
NO Starfleet officers inside the quarters, but rather some
terrorists …

All six ODA members were finally in their positions and
their leader, Gunnery Sergeant Black looked back at Mumacik
waiting for his command. Their task was easy … forcing the
quarter's door open via some high tech device, storming
the quarters, secure those rooms and identifying intruders.
What will happen then was not decided yet …

Mumacik nodded with his hand and pointed his type IIIb
phaser rifle on the door in case the ODA team would
encounter armed resistance.

The open-the-door device was quickly planted and activated.
The door opened with a quiet his and first two ODA members
entered the room. Securing the entrance area, they stayed
behind and two other ODA guys went inside. All this happened
within 2 seconds and in absolute silence.

As no resistance was met yet, Mumacik run towards the
quarters door as well, entering the quarters immediately. A
kneeling ODA comm. specialist, holding a tricoder was
pointing towards the bedroom. Sergeant gave the command and
two ODA guys jumped into the room … with Mumacik just
behind them.

A young woman (Sparsely clad) was laying on the bed,
obviously just awoken … or in state of a day dream. Her
eyes widened seeing armed soldiers storming the room, but
the shock sealed her mouth … she gave no sound.

The Comm specialist whispered: "The other just left,
he's approximately 200 meters along the corridor to the
right".

The sergeant gave command and four ODA members immediately
run out of the room, taking direction right – along the
corridor. The Sergeant ran after them.

Mumacik looked at the woman, unaffected by her physical
attributes. "Lieutenant Lloyd, please explain your
presence in this room" he said.

[USS Chimera] SD 240906.22 || Duty Log || Lt Rayna Dior, Chief Helm Officer ||

[Bridge - Deck One - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C]

Rayna was glad the Captain gave her permission to skirt around the Grand Banks Nebula on the return trip home, and that he also granted her request to proceed on a course at the Chimera's max cruising speed into the Aeran system. Though trekking through the Nebula's stellar nursery would have been quicker, Dior hated flying blind through galactic soot. Most of the crew, she believed, would concur. She would settle for flying in warp 9.5 around it.

Still, it was a to day trip. Just enough time for medical to take control of all the critical cases brought aboard from the contaminated freighters and for Operations to catalog the stockpile of biological warheads. Science too, R-Zerphimi included, was involved in the study of the new material aboard and was running simulation after simulation on the deadly potential of the enemy weaponry aboard. This left Dior with the responsibility to navigate the return trip course herself, while the enigmatic science officer toiled away in his laboratory. She didn't mind though. It was almost pleasant running navigational sensors and scanning for anomalies - almost Zen like in is practice.

Her console beeped, they were five minutes out from the Aeran system. She double-checking the navigational sensors and the ship's position against the navigational buoys as she called the Captain over the comm. "Dior to Captain Rojac."

+Rojac here.+

She had to smile at hearing his voice. "As requested, sir," She began, her voice decidedly less business-like than it had been in the bale of Canna III, "I am informing you of our pending arrival to the Aeran System in four minutes and thirty seconds."

+Very well, Lieutenant. Thank you.+ The Captain replied.

Dior ended the comm and looked over her shoulder toward the Operations console where the Beta shift bridge officer stood. "Ensign, we're arriving in space dock in less than ten minutes. Time to call alpha shift to the Bridge."

"Aye." The Ensign replied. He then busied himself at his station sending notice to the XO, COps, CSci, and Tac Officers. Seconds later, Captain Rojac stepped through the turbolift doors and approached the center console. Dior grinned as she turned to face the view screen.

"Report." Rojac called.

"Dropping into the Aeran System in two minutes, sir." The senior bridge officer one-by-one appeared on the bridge as she spoke relieving the beta shift. "We are cleared for docking at pylon-C by the Station Quartermaster. Designated approach vector is alpha-three, and quarantine teams are on stand-by at the docks to receive our patients and cargo." She looked back over her shoulder toward the Captain and he Executive Officer now seated beside him, "Dropping Warp in one minute."

Rojac swiveled in his chair toward Reese at the Ops station. "Captain Reese, I want you and Lieutenant Kroitzer to report to the cargo transporters and oversee the transport of the warheads personally."

"Aye sir." The experienced marine officer replied. Dior liked Reese, but hadn't spent much time with the Marine Captain. She kept to herself most of the time, and was always heavily involved in her work as the Chimera's Chief of Operations. There was no doubt that she was highly adept at her job. Reese waved over a relief officer and then made way to the cargo transporter to begin her assigned duties.

"Dropping warp." Rayna reported as she slid her fingers down the throttle of the Chimera's warp drive. The humming that had grown in the ambiance of the starship ceased along with the streaks of streaming stars. UNITY station appeared in front of the green and blue orb of the M Class Aeran III. Dior was never more glad to see the Fortuna class station. "Receing course telemetry."

Rojac nodded to Trzetrzelewska, and the XO gave the order. "Take us in, Lieutenant. Half impulse."

It all happened nice, slow and majestically as the sleek Century Class Chimera-C maneuvered into docking position. Five kilometers out, impulse power was cutoff as the station docking tractors locked onto the sleek battleship gray hull and pulled the mighty vessel into dock. There was little for Rayna to do now other than to wait to give the final word, which came quickly.

"Docking completed, Captain." She said. Turning around and smiling.

Rojac returned the smile and stood. "It is good to be home." He looked around to the gathered crew. "Good work everyone. Take the night off, but remember we have an awards ceremony at 1800 hours tomorrow evening. Ops, give everyone a reminder in their inbox."

"Aye sir."

Rojac tapped the ship-wide comm on his Captain's chair. "Gamma shift to docking stations." Calling the skeletal crew to man the key positions of the ship while she was in dock. He then turned to Natalia and whispered a few things to her as Rayna stood from her station at the fore of the bridge. When their conversation ended and Natalia headed for the turbolift, Rayna approached the Captain.

"Captain." She said.

"Lieutenant." Rojac nodded.

"I need a date for the banquet tomorrow evening. Will you join me." She said.

Rojac smiled. No doubt he was used to Dior's aggressive demeanor by now. "It sounds lovely, Lieutenant." He always made a point of addressing her by rank in public, especially on his bridge. "Shall I pick you up at 1500?"

"If you don't mind waiting." She grinned, and started to walk away.

Chimerans!

Low log count this week, but we did manage to finish the plot. I'll log our arrival back to UNITY either today or tomorrow. We'll take two weeks off, while the TF away teams set up the Chimera's next plot. Enjoy. Everyone seems to be on vacation anyway. :)

Don't forget, backlogs are always optional (just be sure to mention it a backlog). So feel free to describe our return trip to UNITY from your character's point of view. I will also be posting an awards ceremony log this week with a few promotions and awards, so keep an eye open and write about your character's reactions.

Chimera Summary - IXUS

Jade visits sickbay and chats to Nanee about an unsightly rash...you would think we just came back from shore leave!  Cropa reviews the mission and evaluates its outcomes and unexpected events.  Cropa debriefs the senior officers and gives them some orders for the return trip to Unity.  Cropa has a chat with Gustav and reminds him of what happened the last time they met...perhaps better results this time?  Cropa and Anya have a tense discussion over the origins of the enemy and the means that have been deployed against them.

UNITY Summary - RANGI

Lucy showed Boaz the shipyard and was surprised to learn that he was an Ambassador and was taken by surprise when he kissed her.He said he would soon be returning to Bajor and escorted her back to the restaurant. He spent time talking to an engineer then had an accident which resulted in him being transported to the infirmary. Aboard the Qashqai, Shane puzzled over an encrypted message
from Terek which he at first found taxing but then inspiration struck and he decoded the coordinates at last.
Just as he was about to order a new course he was told that a personal message had arrived and was astonished to learn that it was from Nicolas Harker.
On the Padassa station,Martin was playing computer games until Harker offered to take him to the bridge of a real starship.Rangi wass taken for interrogation and to have a device implanted into her neck but just as that was about to
be done, her captor was called away.

-------------------------

Break Glass In Case Of Emergencies!

It wasn't until major conflicts occured years later that Starfleet overrode TI's concerns and released the ban on the potent new technology. These items were still rare and used sparingly, in an effort to prevent them from falling into enemy hands. They were considered an ace in the hole, last resorts for use in emergency only - or in instances of Federation Security. This mission was one of the instances.

"Um.... it might be easier if I show you." Jade said, "well it's a rash of some kind, but it's spreading rapidly." Jade said hoping that they could back to curtain area, so that the doctor could get a better look at the rash.

I need to talk
with engineering and then I'm going back to Bajor. At least
for a while. I will be back to this station, it's nice here.

Logging:
The weekly logging deadline is at Midnight (12:00AM/00:00) GMT/UTC (19:00 EST); all logs received after the deadline will be counted for the following week. If you are pressed for time and would like a log to count for the previous week, but it is sent after the deadline, please send an email to the command team when you send the log so that we can make the corrections.
Please remember that all MAJOR plot changes need to be cleared with the command staff before a log goes through! You can do this by sending the command staff (chimera-command@ucip.org

Character information can be found on the UCIP website or the USS Chimera website (under CREW - just click on the Star Trek symbol next to the character's name). If you're still unsure how to interact with a character, then privately mail the person
involved, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help.
Conversely, if you feel that your character is being portrayed incorrectly by someone please contact them to try to work out an agreeable solution. Just keep in mind when logging to treat other characters the way you'd like them to treat you - with the respect due to any member of Starfleet who is a specialist in their field.
If you think your log may be going out of bounds, then please ask! If you are having problems finding things to write about or would just like some help with your log, please contact your department head or the command team. Remember, you don't always have to log about things relating to the main plot - logs that develop your character's
personality are encouraged! We're eager to help if you're having trouble; just email the command team (chimera-command@ucip.org

[USS Chimera] SD 240906.20 || Duty Log || MCapt Channer Davis ||

<<OOC: This log contains alcohol use and minor 'suggestive' themes.  Not pivotal to read if you don't want to, just establishing character.>>

[VIP Quarters - Starbase UNITY]

Channer woke with a start.  Beads of sweat fell from his head as he bolted upright in his bed.  Taking his usual thirteen second sweep of his immediate surroundings, checking corners first then working inward, he deemed that yes, it had been yet another nightmare.  He exhaled, and visibly relaxed in the quite comfortable bed.  Sitting back just a bit, he began trying to remember how he had gotten there, and whose leg was draped across him.  First, he had been on the Franklin, en-route to UNITY.

* * *

"Captain, don't forget your duffle!"

"Got it," Channer said dryly, waving the over-eager Lieutenant off, and indicated the duffle strapped securely over his shoulder.

"So, stay in touch?" he asked with a little too much enthusiasm to Channer's back as he walked through the airlock onto the promenade.  Making another attempt at professionalism, the pilot stook out his hand.  "It was an honor to fly for you, sir, and I greatly enjoyed your stories."

Channer had an uncharacteristic twinge of guilt as he turned, shook the man's hand, and agreed; all without remembering his first name.  "Sure thing, L.T."

First on his agenda was a whiskey.  Cooped up in a shuttle for a day and a half with a proud member of the Dominion War Veterans Honoring Squad was enough to drive anyone to alcoholism.  The promenade was clean, but Davis had hopes of finding a nice, quiet spot to have a nice, quiet drink.  He started off in search of just such an establishment.

Pausing at the holodecks, he considered renting one for a run, but decided he wasn't up for exercise.  Just the drink.  Davis passed the arboretum, various merchant shops offering a wide range of treats and trinkets, the Quartermaster's promenade station, and a Security office before he found it.  Bluenote Bar offered jazz and blues, comfortable seating, and (most importantly) imported Jameson whiskey, with an H.

Ordering a bottle, and taking a seat with a clear view of all the exits out of habit, he poured the amber liquid into a shotglass.  Channer looked down at his drink, and swirled it, causing a minute amount to spill out onto his thumb.  Raising his glass to the band as he had no one to drink with, he tapped the shot on the table, then threw it back in one gulp.  The pungent taste of the alcohol hit him at first, filling his throat and nostrils with a burn like no other.  Then the syrup-like sweetness of the drink doused the fire.  At the very last, the spiced wood barrel in which the drink had been distilled provided a rush of warmth to his entire body.

Davis poured one after the other, drinking to friends lost and battles won, enjoying the soft, swank sounds of the muted jazz trumpets.  Jaron, his best mate.  Jem'Hadar had taken him.  Gerry, the first kid he had trained had been in a runabout when a warship decided to start knocking off defenseless opponents.  His ex-wife, knocked up when he got back; knocked up by his then superior officer what's more.  War was so pointless.  But here he was, in another one.  Eyeing the bottle for the first time since he started pouring, Channer suddenly realized with a sinking feeling that he had about twenty minutes to get to bed.  Bottle was two-thirds empty.  He stood and left, leaving the rest of his bottle with some Security guys.

The quartermaster's promenade office was staffed with a young, blonde Lieutenant that looked about his type.  Always good to make nice with the person who was in charge of how big your quarters are.  The concave office with a long table that struck out into the promenade for dispensing had a total of four desks, indicating that she was the only one that had been stuck working the grave.  She looked completely and utterly bored.  Channer sauntered over to her desk, a mental countdown on how long before the whiskey hit him running.  Would have to work fast.

"Excuse me, ma'am."

She turned to face him, but didn't smile.  "Good evening, Captain.  What can I do for you?"

He hid a smile.  "My first time on the station, awaiting deployment in a day or so.  Not sure where I'm supposed to bunk.  Figured you would be the lady to talk to."

She nodded.  "I'd be the Lieutenant, yes.  What's your name and deployment?  They may have already registered you some quarters," she explained, grabbing a PADD then looking up expectantly at him.

"Davis, Channer.  Chief of Security, USS Chimera."

With eyebrows raised, she input this into her PADD, and it beeped negative.  "Seems they were a bit too occupied to have made the usual niceties."

"What a shame," he said with a smile.  "Think you can find me something?"

"Standard procedure is assign you a guest suite or give you a crew bunk.  Let me see if I can find anything."

"Okay," he said nodding.  "Or you could book us a VIP suite for a night, and we could get your vacation started right."  His voice was deadpan, and he didn't flinch when she looked up with wide, glaring eyes.

"Excuse me?  How dare you?!  I don't know what vacation you're talking about.."

"Yes, you do.  Everyone gets the 'leave jitters.'  Work like mad so you can get done early and take off.  Work ahead to impress your senior into giving you an extra day.  How about it?  Do something crazy, then go off with your girls?" he suggested again, indicating the empty desks where he correctly assumed they usually sat.

"Absolutely not.  This is... way out of line.  You want to get me fired?"  Hesitation.  That's good.

"Of course not, I just want to give you a jump start on your relaxing.  And my last night here on the station.. all alone in a crew bunk?  Before I go to war?"

"I'm sorry.. but that's the way it's going to be."

Channer started to think this wasn't going anywhere, but his liquid courage egged him on to try one more time.

"Well, if you don't want to, I understand.  Nothing to brag to your girls about, because you were too scared to take the plunge."

She bit her lip.  He had hit a nerve.  Sometimes, you just had to appeal to a woman's desire to brag.  "There's an unoccupied Admiral's chamber up three floors..."

Channer grinned.

Davis pushed the leg off of him and got out of bed, went to the lavatory, and washed off his rough face.  He would have to shave if he was going to meet his CO today.  Run first.  He went back into the enormous room, and turned to see that Lietuenant Michelle Burnside had woken up and turned to face him.  The honesty in her eyes made him uncomfortable.

"Will you comm sometime?" she asked.

"Absolutely."  Not.

Channer walked out into the corridor, the lighting still set to dim in observation of station morning time, and decided to get ready.  His first real post since his recall.. he would want to be ready.
