[USS Chimera] SD 240910.20 || BRAVO || Duty Log || Lt Dior ||

[Bridge - Deck One - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C]

Rayna Dior held the Chimera at a direct course toward the Romulan Transdimensional gate at full stop. Between the gate and the ship was the gargantuan EAS Samson - as the vessels commanding officer had reported it - and they were forced to take his word for it.

Sensors were having trouble taking readings from the vessel's intricate hull composition - and Science couldn't find an EAS Samson anywhere in the database. Dior hadn't really expected them to however - it had come from an alternate dimension.

Major Walters had left the bridge to meet Captain Rojac in the main shuttle bay where the Serpent was landing with her cargo. Commander Levison was left in charge to land Major Xerxes and her squadron and begin after action recovery operations from the bridge. The CO and XO were going to be busy meeting with the new Ivanov that had shown up on the scene. A medical team had been sent to collect the injured marines and transport them to sickbay.

On a personal level, Rayna was glad that Cropa had landed safely. She had been able to remain focused during the battle - but she worried about her love's safety constantly in the back of her mind. She knew it was foolish, Cropa had partaken in many more dangerous operations in his time as a Starfleet officer, but then again: love is hardly logical.

The port impulse drive was still down, and it didn't look like Engineering was going to be able to get it up and running. The Romulan disruptors and torpedoes had apparently disintegrated too many integral components - the Chimera's failsafe systems were the only thing that prevented the reactors from going critical and destroying much of the ship.

Thank goodness impulse engines wouldn't prevent the Chimera from getting back to UNITY. After this mission, Dior was looking very forward to a few weeks R&R.

Chimerans!

Good logging week. The plot does wrap up this week, and we will be en route back to UNITY by Friday at the latest. After that, 2 weeks R&R before we start our next plot. The Chimera's going to need some fixing up, so we'll be off ship for the next plot. BUt don't worry - there will be plenty of action.

Get logging!

Walters takes the Chimera into the pocket's small asteroid field and lures some Romulans in with it. After a few fireworks displays however, another ship starts coming through the gate. On the Serpent Captain Rojac and crew get close enough to beam Cortez, Shao and Company off - without the detonator. Walters laid in a direct course for the gate in a last ditch effort, and the crew bravely complied. In a stroke of luck the ship that came through the gate was a four-mile friendly - and nephew to the esteemed Major Xerxes. Did he say Ivanov? Rojac and company were equally surprised on board the Serpent.

Shane asigned Jade as Chief inctructor for operations, a role that she was pleased to accept and one that she could carry out even within the limitations of 'light duties'

Later she went to see Rangi who asked if Jade was aware of any alterations done in engineering. Rangi explained how certain rhythms could have brought about Jades telepathic ability. Jade said she would find out. She began her teaching assignment and met her aide Ensign DeChant. They made arrangements for a simulation.

Rangis day had gone well and she and Shane spent a happy evening together. She had no inkling that events would soon take a down turn.

Ryunosuke and Shane discussed the assassination attempts and pondered on who could be responsible. They found no definate answer.

- Logging Guidelines
-------------------------
Logging:
The weekly logging deadline is at Midnight (12:00AM/00:00) GMT/UTC (19:00 EST); all logs received after the deadline will be counted for the following week. If you are pressed for time and would like a log to count for the previous week, but it is sent after the deadline, please send an email to the command team when you send the log so that we can make the corrections.
Please remember that all MAJOR plot changes need to be cleared with the command staff before a log goes through! You can do this by sending the command staff (
chimera-command@ucip.org ) a log labeled with "Draft" tagged to the subject line. We'll typically let you know if it's approved within 24 to 48 hours, or tell you what might need to be modified before it's sent to the listserv.
When using other characters in your logs, please keep in mind that person's characteristics. Character information can be found on the UCIP website or the USS Chimera website (under CREW - just click on the Star Trek symbol next to the character's name). If you're still unsure how to interact with a character, then privately mail the person
involved, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help.
Conversely, if you feel that your character is being portrayed incorrectly by someone please contact them to try to work out an agreeable solution. Just keep in mind when logging to treat other characters the way you'd like them to treat you - with the respect due to any member of Starfleet who is a specialist in their field.
If you think your log may be going out of bounds, then please ask! If you are having problems finding things to write about or would just like some help with your log, please contact your department head or the command team. Remember, you don't always have to log about things relating to the main plot - logs that develop your character's
personality are encouraged! We're eager to help if you're having trouble; just email the command team (
chimera-command@ucip.org).

[USS Chimera] SD240910.18 ||SB 234: UNITY|| Personal Log, Capt. Trent Rodgers

=Nasook's Deli and Cafe=
=Main Prominade, Starbase UNITY=

"I've put a lot of thought into this and I've come to this conclusion," Trent said before taking another bite of his sandwich. "With the war and everything draining Romulan resources, it is highly unlikely that the praetor can actually afford the hundred thousand bricks of latinum he had put out on me."

"You think," Rick said, eating with his mouth full.

It was lunchtime and the two sat at a corner table, watching people come and go.

"Yeah. Even before the war, it would have been difficult for the praetor to come up with that kind of money."

"He must have been really fond of his brother," Rick said.

"I don't know. I think it's more of a pride thing. As the leader of the Romulan people, he lost face when his brother was killed. If he kills the captain of the ship responsible, then it makes him look respectable. As for the money ... I don't believe he intends to pay it."

Rick shook his head, "That's pretty gutsy. With the kind of people apparently coming after you, they would be pissed off if they were screwed. They would surely go after the praetor."

"Maybe, but he is the praetor. Perhaps one of the most well-guarded individuals in the entire galaxy. You'd have to be damn good to get to him or a damn fool to go after him."

"Lets just hope it doesn't get that far," Rick said.

"Yeah," was all that Trent said as he looked at his partially eaten sandwich in his hand. He kept his attention on it even though it was obvious that his thoughts were elsewhere.

"You're worried, aren't you?" Rick finally asked.

"No ... no, I'm ..."

"You can lie to anyone else on this starbase and they will likely believe you. But you can't lie to me and you know it."

Trent took a deep breath as he finally put the sandwich down on the plate in front of him.

"It's kind of a strange feeling, that's all. Having one of the most powerful people in the known universe wanting you dead. Its just ... alarming."

"You need to get away from here. Have Starfleet to give you some protection," Rick said.

"No, I won't run."

"Why not?"

"I just won't!" Trent shot back.

"You and your damn pride," Rick muttered. "At the very least, you need a security detail. I'm sure the admiral will ..."

"No! I don't need a security detail. Security has enough to worry about. I've already informed them of the possible threat. I'll be OK. I can handle myself."

"What about Sarah and the children?" Rick asked.

"They're safe," was all that Trent said.

Rick shook his head, "You know, they will keep coming after you as long as the praetor is still alive."

"Then I might have to rectify that."

Just then, a security crewman came up to Trent and handed him a note. He looked it over.

"Has it cleared security," Trent asked and the crewman nodded then walked away.

Trent looked at Rick, "A package that I have been waiting for has finally arrived."

Trent stood, "Don't worry about me. I'll be OK. I deal with whoever is sent to kill me."

Rick shook his head, "You're so damn stubborn."

"Yeah, that's what dad use to say," Trent allowed a slight grin before tossing down a couple of strips of latinum and then walking away.

=/\= Anaxis - D-Day, H-Hour + 10 =/\=

The endless sounds of disruptor blasts hitting the wall they were crouching behind was causing some serious concern among the men of Easy Company. The veterans were doing their best to calm the rookies, but there was no denying that they were in a tough spot. Bullets from the Romulan projectile weapons were ricocheting off the wall and off the building behind them. They’d managed to get the wounded into the building itself through a blast hole, but without support, they were all going to be casualties.

Buck Compton, now effectively defacto company CO, with Heyliger’s death, was held up with the corpse of the radio operator he’d grabbed earlier. He was listening to the radio chatter, which suggested that this was happening all over the city, exactly as the General had predicted, and had hoped to avoid. That was little comfort to the men who were now in the shit that had resulted.

Compton had heard over the radio that General Sharpe had given a very bold order, that convened with standing orders from Starfleet Command, that the tanks were to make their way to the trapped marines, regardless of the civilian buildings. The orders had been that there be no unnecessary collateral damage. However, Compton guessed that Sharpe had received no arguments from the marines with him to this order. Marines looked out for each other, and if there were marines getting slaughtered, there was the comfort of knowing that your brothers would never leave you behind.

He’d passed word down the line that the tankers were making their way to them, to give the Rommie’s hell. What Compton didn’t know, was that help was much closer at hand than the tanks. It would take the tanks, driving hard, at least an hour to reach the men of Easy, and there were many other calls for help. The MC-200’s were bombing the shit out of any labelled targets by the ground spotters, but they couldn’t help Easy out, because there was a massive fusion reactor closeby that could get hit.

However, help was at hand…

=/\= AC-20 Thumper =/\=

“Listen up!” Harper shouted to the three squads on the Thumper dropship. The Thumper was designed along the same principles as the Black-Hawk & Heuy helicopters. It had opening sidedoors and gunners manning rapid fire weapons to give ground support. This also allowed for rapid troop deployment and collection.

The three squads of Force Recon, the elite arm of the SFMC, looked up from their benches to the Sergeant Major. They were used to being lead into combat by Non-Coms, as they often operated only as a squad, rarely at this sort of size, but these were different circumstances.

“We’ve got a trapped company down there, taking heavy casualties. We’re unable to provide artillery support due to the proximity of a fusion reactor close by. Therefore, we are going to go into that building, and clear it for our guys, so that they can extract to the RV point. Elements of the 92nd are pushing their way through to them, but they need help now. General Sharpe wants Easy Company rescued.” Harper said.

The three squad leaders looked to the Sergeant Major and nodded. This sort of thing was right up their alley.

“We’re going to rope drop onto the roof of the building they’re holding, and take it down, one floor at a time.” Harper said. “You’re all the best, do me proud.”

The men, with their blacked up faces, nodded to Harper, and waited for the ‘go’ order.

=/\= Easy Company =/\=

Just when Compton was beginning to think that all was lost for the men of Easy, a fantastic sight suddenly came into view. A Thumper had appeared right over to the top of the large building where the Rommies were firing at them at. It fired its chain guns at the Rommies on the roof, dropped four ropes either side, and he watched, with a look of amazement as marines slid down the ropes and landed on the roof.

“Lipton! Pass the word!” Compton shouted. “Force Recon just showed up!”

“About fucking time!” Lipton quipped, but was grinning as well.

=/\= Building =/\=

Harper landed with a thud, and raised up the M16A2 that Richard had leant him. The roof was clear, and the rest of his team were securing all sides. He gestured with his hands to 1st Squad that they should proceed down the staircase, whilst 2nd Squad were to rappel down the west side of the building, and 3rd the east side. The squad sergeants nodded, and moved to their objectives.

Moving in with 1st Squad, they made their way down the staircase, to the top floor, they opened fire quickly and efficiently on all the Rommies that were inside, but by the time they’d made it halfway down the corridor, the Romulans were fighting back on the FR guys.

Harper rolled a grenade down the hallway, and when it exploded, took out a whole bunch of soliders at the end, causing a hole in the floor. He could hear explosions further down, which meant that 2nd and 3rd squads had breached on the lower floors and were beginning their systematic extermination of the population.

=/\= Easy Company =/\=

The Romulan’s had stopped firing on Easy Company, and the men peered up over the wall to see explosions and firefights happening all over the building. A massive hole was present on the second floor, where five ropes met, clearly where Recon had breached. The fighting seemed to die down after a while, until it stopped altogether.

Compton heard someone shout “Clear!” He stood up and looked at the doorway, that was now hanging open.

A man walked out of the doorway, a rifle resting on the back of his neck as he carried it casually out. “Easy Company?” The man asked.

Compton couldn’t believe it, he stood up and cautiously made his way out over to the man. “That’s right, Lieutenant Compton.” He said.

“Sergeant Major Harper, sir.” He said, offering a casual salute to the Lieutenant. “Compliments of General Sharpe sir.”

“Well, they are most gratefully received Sergeant.” Compton swallowed. “I don’t think we’d have held out much longer.”

“Sure you would’ve, Lieutenant.” Harper said, putting a cigar in his mouth. “You’re marines. Marines don’t quit whilst they still have rifles. Didn’t they teach you that at OCS?”

“Must’ve skipped that class.” Compton smirked.

“Well, nothing like a little learnin’ to bring you enlightenment, son.” Harper said, and winked to him. “92nd Armour are on their way, and they’ll be evacing the wounded on the LAV-MDs they’re bringing. We’ve got field medics on the Thumper, and we’ll extract the critically wounded on the Thumper. Everyone else can wait for the trucks.”

Compton nodded, as he spotted the Thumper overhead, landing on the roof. Compton suddenly became all business again. “Our criticals are in the building with Doc Roe.” He said. “If your guys could give us a hand getting them to the Thumper, I’d appreciate it.”

“Sure thing el-tee.” One of the squad leaders, who had appeared behind Harper, said.

“I want to get the rest of us moving back. This is not a good position to be caught in, believe me.” Compton said. “We lost a lot of good guys.”

“Lieutenant Heyliger around?” Harper asked.

Compton shook his head sadly.

“Shame, he was a good man.” Harper said, his Irish drawl poking out. “Well, its your show, Lieutenant.” He said. “Take us home.”
