Gustav was working in main engineering on the custom designed warp
burst missile that Major Xerxes had asked him to design and make, with
everything that has happened lately the missile was put on the back
burner but now with the ship back at unity he could get the order
finished.
He and his team of six engineers were working away on the miniature
warp core that was based on a modernized version of the Phoenixes
design, as it was very simple, easy to construct and make very small
and with some modifications could go to warp five easily.
Everything seemed to be going well, which is quite unusual for the
Chimera, as something usually happens to spoil a nice quite day,
lately mainly Romulans, he was just finishing the final adjustments to
the missile he was working on when an alarm went off in engineering
and the computers voice could be heard all over entire ship.
[Warning warp core breach detected in main engineering…. Evacuate immediately].
Gustav jumped up from where he was working and ran to where there was
a frantic engineer standing, as he approached he yelled out "WHAT F***
IS HAPPENING"
He didn't have time for the frantic man time to answer before Gustav's
com badge went off.
+Mr. Kroitzer, + the Captain's voice shouted through Gustav's com
badge, +what the hell just happened? +
+One of my engineers was working on one of Xerxes Missiles when he
somehow ruptured the antimatter containment+ he said while removing
the cylinder that held the antimatter.
+ Take care of it; I'm on my way. +
Gustav grabbed the engineers com badge and contacted the transporter
room using it.
+Gustav to transporter room lock onto this signal and in 5 seconds
beam it as far away from the ship and station as you possibly can+.
Gustav attached the badge to the cylinder and within a couple of
seconds was enveloped in a shower of blue, and a few seconds after
that where was a mild jolt that could be felt through the ship as a
blast shockwave passed.
Relived that the potential danger to the ship and station had been
averted Gustav turned his attention and anger to the engineer
responsible, Ensign Krebore.
Signaling to the Ensign to follow him to his office Gustav dropped his
normally calm demeanour and let rip "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?"
Surprised at Gustav's rage the half human half cardassian tried to
explain "I… I… I was using the plasma welder to seal up the radiation
shielding when I had accidentally went through the…"
"Stop right there Ensign what were you doing using a plasma welder on
such a sensitive area, any first year cadet knows you would use a to
part welding compound".
"I was just trying to say time… the compound takes hours to finish the
weld" Krebore said trying to defend him self.
"And at the same time you both the ship and the station in danger,
just to save a couple of hours".
Walking away and taking a beep breath to try to calm down Gustav
started speaking again "I'm afraid I'm going to have to put you on 3
weeks suspension and also have to put this incident on your permanent
record during that time I want you to think about how close you came
to killing us all… I also want you to reread Montgomery Scotts basics
in engineering, you're dismissed Ensign".
"But Si…"
"You're dismissed" Gustav said in a firm tone.
Gustav turned to his replicator and asked "a mug of strong sweet
English tea", taking his mug of tea he sat down to properly calm
himself before the Captain arrived to find out what exactly happened.
