[USS Chimera] SD240811.02 =/\= USS D'Artagnan & RIS Kuulam =/\= Joint Battle Log =/\= Part 2

(( PREVIOUSLY, ON USS CHIMERA:))

Talek was surprised that the DA reacted that quickly. Taken
by surprise with weakened shields, the DA {what a silly
name!} was still a formidable enemy for a single D'Deridex
class Warbird. Tactical simulations declared that a
D'Deridex class equals to a Galaxy class federation ship …
but a Sovereigh class (what was DA's case) was somewhat
beyond their abilities.

Kuulam lost the surprise advantage and direct "dog-fight"
with the DA wasn't the best option. "Call for assistance!"
Talek called and turning to the Amei'Saehne (TAC) officer he
ordered: "Launch the myotronic inhibitor! … we need to get
their weapons down!"

Blitz shouted in joy: "Direct hit to their hull... Ohhh...
This is going to be fun!".
Moïra just got herself back in her Command chair, as she
was looking at the Warbird, on the main screen. "Klein, find
me the source of that first hit and continue firing on the
dorsal!", she said. Immediately, three torpedos were sent.

Klein was tapping away, almost like a madman. He was
obviously not finding an answer he liked enough to report
it. Blitz stood up and walked to Klein's console. Moïra
looked back at that and saw them arguing, but no voices were
audible. Blitz turned back to Moïra and said: "It was
torpedos. But, we have no signatures, no tracks of them
before impact..."

Moïra looked back in front, obviously concerned...
"Cloaked Torpedos...", she muttered. Moïra heard about the
concept, but she never encountered it. Then, she turned back
to Blitz. "Can you detect them?", she asked.

At the same moment, Klein's eyes opened widely. "Ma'am...
Weapons are offline!!! Massive power drain!", he screamed.
Moïra looked back at the TAC console, then eyed Blitz.

Talek barked: "How long?" Since the first hit, the
Kuulam was taking more and more damage and he had to admit
that he overreacted somewhat. His last hope went toward the
inhibitor device that was supposed to render the DA's
weapon system off line.

"Just about … now" replied the Amei'Saehne (TAC).
There was nothing special to see on the Federation ship …
but the Amei'Saehne (TAC) announced: "The enemy's
weapons are off-line!"

Talek slammed his arm-rest in relief and barked new orders:
"Attack pattern Remus three … direct approach. Fire from
front distruptor banks with maximum power! Launch the
fighter squadron!"

Romulan fighters would usually pose no thread to a Sovereign
class ship … but now, with their weapons off line, they

could tear and bite like angry bees a wound bear …

Moïra was still expecting Klein to tell her he was
mistaking. But it didn't come. Instead, Blitz pushed the
Assistant Tactical Ensign from it's console and was tapping
away, trying to find out what was going on. The Romulan
fighters were weakning the shields fast. At that rate, they
could maintain the front shield for a few minutes, then
being forced to divert all power to the front emitters, in
order not to be wide open for a lonesome torpedo. That was
while hoping

"I think something went through our shields at...", Klein
was about to say, before being interrupted.

"Lieutenant, I don't care about what you think, FIX IT
NOW!", Moïra said, obviously losing her patience...

"We do have that spare power from the recreational section,
ma'am...", added Blitz.

Moïra looked briefly at Blitz. She just got an idea. She
looked back at Blitz, but obviously talking to Klein.

"With that spare power, can you create a energy pulse that
would surround the ship, most likely overload any devices or
"detach" any humanoid that would attached to our hull?", she
asked.

Blitz smiled. He just saw a worthy Commanding Officer
finding a solution that should have been from a Tactical
Officer. Obviously, Moïra was a great choice for CO.
"Indeed. I am redirecting.", Blitz said.

"Klein, if we get power back, I want you to concentrate on
those bees. No mercy's required.", she said, turning towards
the main screen.

"Sending pulse, now!", Blitz said.

At that time, a clear blueish energy beam same from the
ship's nacelle and surrended the ship.

The myotronic inhibitor was a great war device … but it
was still an early version. Constructors focused on the main
ability – disable enemy's primary weapon … and things
like protection of the device itself was only secondary.
Making the story short … the energy pulse pierced through
the weak plating of the inhibitor like trough butter … and
overloaded all systems …

======= Bridge, RIS Kuulam =====

"The myotronic inhibitor was just destroyed!" someone
reported. The Amei'Saehne (TAC) added: "The DA regained
power, shields @ 55%, phaser arrays operational … torpedo
launchers off-line."

Talek let out a sigh of annoyance. He really hoped that the
inhibitor would render the DA defenseless and so making it
to an easy prey. But all he got was a Sovereign class ship
with more then half of shielding and working phaser arrays.

He was not sure what to do, but fate decided instead of him.
A slight rocking shook te ship and the Amei'Saehne (TAC)
reported: "Leigh … a defiant class ship droped out of
warp and attacked us … pulse cannons only … light damage
to decks 15 and 16 …"

In that very instant Talek could see with own eyes that
Starfleet employed no cowards … as he saw the DA charging
directly wit max impulse. Phasers hit the Kuulam and the
ship shook again.

"Retreat!" called Talek.

Finally, Moïra was back in control of her own ship. She eyed the Warbird turning around, obviously trying to flee. She knew she was not going to let this happend. However, Moïra got into a moral dilemma. Destroying a weaker vessel after a fierce fight and destroying every secrets it holds, or trying to disable it, take prisoniers and seize the warbird, for further studies. The second choice seemed more appealing for Moïra.

"Commander Blitz, supervise a boarding party, we will attempt to take POW's.", she ordered her #1. Moïra turned to Klein and looked at him coldly. "Aim for the shielding system and disable it. When it is down, disable the propulsion and engage tractor beam. I want to bring back something home...", she said.

Moïra sat back down on her command chair, while Blitz headed to the Transporter deck. Moïra had a strong feeling that this will make such of an impact on the current battle.
