<<sometime before meeting with Shane>>

Mnemosyme stood one of the upper levels looking down at the people moving to and fro below. She watched as a single drop of water dropped from her hair as she hadn't bother to dry it when she was done
showering. She was barely aware that someone had come up beside her. She looked slowly to her right and noticed the all too inquisitive Strategic Officer standing there.
Vlimar was climbing up the stairs to the Promenade. His intent was to relax, with a cup of tea, over viewing the lounge, and the massive viewport. But, as he was climbing the stairs, he saw a familiar face, Nyx. Vlimar smiled, as he walked towards her, holding his cup of tea.
"Morning, Nyx", he said. "Passing the time?", he asked, nonchalantly.
"I guess you could say that," she responded turning to face him. She took a relaxed position against the railing, "And how are you this morning?"
Vlimar smiled. "Oh, I am just wonderful, how about yourself?", he asked. "Is it raining out?", he asked, sarcastically. Vlimar pointed at the table behind them, as he moved towards it,
sipping his tea.
She reluctantly pushed herself away from the railing to join him at the table. "I'm well." Mnemosyme watched him for a second or two before asking, "You look like you've been working hard.... on anything
interesting?"
Vlimar shrugged. He was up since 0400 hrs that morning, reviewing crew files for assessments. "Well, interesting, not really... Crew review and training schedule", he said.
Vlimar sipped his coffee, then looked at Nyx. "What about you? How's your day, so far?"
"Productive," she answered, "perhaps a bit slow." She looked around at the other tables observing the people around them. "The launching of the new chimera seems to be creating quite a stir for the whole base," she changed topics.

Vlimar smiled. He saw that swift shift of subject. It was a weird feeling that Vlimar had, at that exact time. He felt that Nyx was bored by his presence, bored by him... It was the first time Vlimar felt this from a woman.
Vlimar looked at Nyx. "Are you bored, Nyx?", he asked, directly.
Vlimar looked at Nyx. "Are you bored, Nyx?", he asked, directly.
Her gazed snapped back to him, "No... why do you ask?" She wasn't bored by him, she was just doing what she always did to protect herself.
Vlimar smiled. "Nothing, don't worry..." he replied. Vlimar sipped his tea, looking at Nyx. He wanted to know her more, but that self-protecting reflex she had was very hard to pierce... even for an Ace Tactician as Vlimar.
"Dinner, tonight?", he asked, simply.
"Dinner, tonight?", he asked, simply.
She was taken a bit of guard and immediately blurted out, "Aren't you going to be busy... the launching," she tried.
Vlimar looked up, almost bursting into laughter. "You're right...", he said. "How about after? A late glass of wine?", he added.
Vlimar just had a thought. The Chimera was leaving, which means less people on the Starbase for a little while. It also means that he loses 4 Ops officers, all transferring back to Chimera.

{A glass and he will probably already had some champagne...} "That sounds fine," she responded almost formally as she worked things out in her own head. The padd in one of the many pockets in her pants beeped indicating that she had a message. {Its from ...him... I can tell by the lethargic dull beep ... it matches my boss so probably.}
