Athena sat in her office for a while after Anya had left. She had
written up the results of the last couple of evaluations and checked
the reports on a couple that Mimi had managed to track down and give.
She was lost deep in her own thoughts but able to help any one who
might come her way.
Walking up to the counseling office and hit the chime to let the
counselor know that someone wanted to see her. She then started wonder
if this was the right idea she doesn't even know where to start
explaining the sensation she got that night during the ceremony.
At the sound of the chime Athena was jerked out of her thoughts, "Enter."
Jade walked in and headed over to where the Commander was sitting she
was feeling nervous she's never been to see a counselor the closest
thing she had to seeing a counselor was the psyche evaluation when she
joined the SFMC. After looking around Jade walked over to one of the
chairs and sitting down.
Athena gave the woman a warm smile when she saw who it was and stood
from her desk. "Come on in I don't bite.... well at least not
usually."
Jade returned the smile and took a few minuets to look around the
office and thinking on how to start telling this women about the
strange sensation she had at the party last night.
{{Come on you know you have a million questions you want to ask.......
Just blurt one out.}} "Please, take a seat," Athena said indicating
the homing look chair with the fleece throw draped over the back.
"First I'm not sure on how to even describe what happened last night."
Jade said finally, "it felt like I was able to pick up on what
everyone was thinking that night." Jade said.
"Perhaps you were," Athena stated simply and waited for the other
woman to process a bit more of what she was thinking.
"I know there are races out there have the ability to listen and even
communicate without even seeing the person they're trying to
communicate with, but according to my family history there is no one
with those abilities." Jade said sounding confused.
"Do you know all about the lineage on both sides or did you make
assumptions," Athena asked, but continued with a more reassuring
phrase as well, "sometimes senses can develop when we least expect
them to." {Like my telekinesis.}
Jade was about to speak, but then she felt that sensation again of
hearing someone speaking even though no one was speaking to her, "will
I just trusted what my mother told me, so it might be true that
somewhere someone has one of those kinds of abilities." Jade said
smiling.
Athena smiled back, "that sounds logical and sometimes it just takes
awhile for those abilities to kick in... especially if we're not aware
of or using them." {{Would you like something to drink?}}
Jade nodded and decided if it is true that she does have this ability
she would try and use it like she maybe did last night at the party
she concentrated on what kind of drink she wanted. {{Peppermint tea.}}
She thought and waited to see if the counselor received the message or
not.
Athena smiled and got up; going to the replicator she retrieved two
beverages. She placed a warm cup of peppermint tea in front of the
other women and sat down with her own glass of water. "You didn't
specify whether you wanted hot or iced tea; I hope you don't mind that
its hot?"
"No that's fine." Jade said smiling picking up the cup and taking a small sip.
The two chatted for a bit longer before Athena cautioned, "Remember
not to be intrusive to others and don't push a new talent too
quickly." She finished her water, "And please feel free to ask me for
help at anytime."
Jade nodded, "I understand it's just going to take some time to get
used to it and how to keep it in check." Jade said finishing up her
peppermint tea and standing up realizing that she was five minuets
late for her duty shift. "Again thank you for speaking with me and
helping me through this." Jade said smiling as he headed to the door.
