[USS Chimera] SD 240909.26 | Joint Log | LtCol. Strayer (NPC) & MCapt. Spiers (NPC)

The trip from the Norris System back to Padassa Station felt like it had taken a good bit longer than the trip taken the previous morning. It was also hard to imagine, as he was being carried on a stretcher from the Thumper Transport that the invasion had taken so little time. Though, as the medics carried him through the airlock onto the station he couldn't help but feel relieved to be back. Perhaps now he could get some help from a real sickbay instead of field medics.

Arriving at the airlock, where dozens of corpsmen and doctors were waiting for the arriving wounded, as they usually did when an operational unit returned, Lt Colonel Strayer made his way through the throng of people to make sure he found the man he was looking for. They’d received word that Capt. Spiers had been badly wounded, and it was on Strayer to check on that.

The large gash in his leg caused by a rather large piece of flying duranium was still bleeding, though the medics had gotten it under control and it was wrapped tightly. Spiers was having to push people aside in order to keep an eye on his men, many of whom were getting medical attention. The rest had moved on down the corridor to make room for the medical staff.

“Captain Spiers.” Strayer said, making his way towards the wounded man. “Good to see you in one piece, more or less.”

"For the moment anyways, Colonel," replied Spiers, throwing up something resembling a salute from the stretcher.

“As you were.” Strayer said, and then he turned to one of the medics. “How bad is it?”

Cutting off any response from the enlisted soldier Spiers responded for him, "Not as bad as they'd have me think, sir. I'll be back on my feet in no time."

“You’ll be back on your feet when you’re cleared for duty, Captain.” Strayer said. “Surprisingly enough, a doctor is far more intelligent about such matters than you are, Spiers.”

Ron refrained from mentioning that a medic was hardly a doctor, but instead let the young man answer. "It's mostly a correct assessment, Colonel. The Captain's gonna need some work done to repair the arterial damage, but it shouldn't take too long to get back fixed."

“How long do you reckon on?” Strayer asked.

"A week. Maybe two," replied the medic, motioning to the those carrying the Captain to continue on down the corridor. They'd get him into surgery as soon as they could fit him in.

Strayer walked along with Spiers. “I need your recommendation for an acting company CO.”

"Lieutenant T'Shal," replied the Captain, his hands holding onto the sides of the stretcher as he was carried. "She's up for her silver bar anyways. Was gonna do the paperwork when we got done on Norris."

“I’ll handle it.” Strayer said. “General Sharpe is throwing the entire Second Battalion into something he’s called Operation Valkrye, so I need Easy up and running in about 24 hours.”

Spiers was obviously concerned as he strained his neck to look back at the Colonel, "Easy will do the job, but she's not near at full strength. Not with the injuries and the people we lost."

“We’ve got some replacements in, so we can top up the gaps where we can.” Strayer said. “But Sharpe asked for Easy specifically for this mission.”

"Easy'll get the job done, Colonel," the Captain replied with a firm nod. "It's what they've been trained to do."

“As I should hope, Captain.” Strayer said. “Rest up, and we’ll let you know how we get on.”

Again Spiers threw up a salute, "Sir, yes, sir." Moments later he was through the doors into the medical bay.
