[USS Chimera] SD 240901.14 || Mission Log || Capt Chisulo (TacAdv) & LtCmdr Faulkner (MisAdv) ||

[Runabout Fenrir - Aeran System]

Captain Tedros Chisulo pulled back the throttle and cut power to the warp core, bringing his runabout back to sublight speeds inside UNITY's home system. The Tactical Advisor of First Taskforce sat in the helm seat of the Fenrir, his companion LtCommander Faulkner sat in the co-pilot seat next to him pouring over the operations consoles.

"We're clear, Captain." Faulkner said, eying the sensor readouts. "If anyone was going to follow us this far, the sensor outposts would have picked them up."

"Agreed." Chisulo replied as he changed course for a more direct approach to UNITY, and the third planet in the system. "Drop the cloak and contact flight control. I need to comm the Commodore."

"Aye sir." Faulkner replied. He slid closer to his workstation as Chisulo stood from his to go to the communications station at the rear of the craft.

Chisulo and Faulkner were just returning from a clandestine week long surveilence run into Klingon territory. It was a top secret mission assigned by Commodore Guzman. If anyone aboard UNITY were to ask about the Captain's whereabouts they would have been told of some conference on Breen technonolgy on SB 514 where he was a guest speaker. In reality, he and Faulkner were int he Klingon system of Narendra.

The past few months, the Federation had been trying to get Klingon aide in the war against the Romulans. The Klingons seemed unwilling to enter the fight, an odd circumstance for the warrior empire. Starfleet thought something fishy was going on, and asked for a surveillence run. Chisulo was to fulfill that task.

What he and Faulkner found was not comforting. The Romulans and Klingons held a tentative ceasefire agreement, and the Klingons had allowed the Romulans to hold a minor mining colony and outpost on the eighth planet of the Narendra system.

Chisulo didn't want to get to close in the runabout, but from the passive scans he could detect large amounts of duranium on the planet surface, a key element in ship building. From the communciations he tapped into, it seemed that the Romulans and Klingons were not getting along well.

Apparently, the Klingons were coerced into the agreement. The Romulans were holding some kind of card, frocing the Klingons to allow them the resources on the planet below. Having studied the Klingons in detail, Chisulo knew why the Klingon government was keeping this a secret. It would be seen as dishonorable.

But what advantage were the Romulans holding over them? And how could Starfleet nullify it to get the Klingons on their side?

Chisulo felt that more investigation was needed, but it would take the Commodore's authorization for that. He contacted his office, and requested an audience from Lt. Pakossi once he got back to the station. Pakossi agreed, and made the arrangements.

Chisulo walked back to the cockpit of the runabout where the large station nowdominated the screen. "Good flying, Faulkner. But I have a feeling we will be back out her before too long."

"I know what you mean." Faulkner smirked, and ran a hand through his short black hair.

"Take the rest of the day off." Chisulo said. "I will let you know our orders when I recieve them."
