"No one is to come in or out of this holding area until I say so, is that understood?" Natalia said to the guard as she approached the holding where the Romulan prisoner was kept.
The guard quickly nodded his understanding. "Yes Commander," he said.
"Good. Now please open the door," she said.
The guard opened the door to the holding area and Natalia stepped inside. There were two cells inside the area, one of which was occupied by the remaining Romulan and guarded by two marine noncoms. Looking at the two guards, she simply said. "Out."
They looked at each other and the one hesitated before he spoke. "Uh... ma'am, we're not supposed to leave the–"
"I said out!" she repeated, pointing towards the door. The guards almost jumped and did as they were told. The prisoner just sat quietly, watching the situation. When the door closed Natalia stepped closer to the forcefield.
"Stand up, please," the XO said, looking at the prisoner. He had a somewhat calm look on his face. "What is your name?"
"I am Terrh," he replied pointedly.
"Is that all?" she asked, suspecting that it probably wasn't his real name. "No rank?"
"My rank is not important, Commander," Terrh replied.
"I see," Natalia said, watching him closely. "Why don't tell me about the Unificationists?"
"The Unificationists are a group of Romulans who chose to follow then-Ambassador Spock's ideals of reuniting Vulcans and Romulans," he explained. "There were many in Romulus at that time who felt it could be done, even one or two Sub-Senators. Of course with the Reman assassination of the Romulan Senate, all those hopes were dashed... but there remained those of us who beleived it was still possible for Vulcans and Romulans to coexist peacefully. Spock had passed on the teachings of Surak secretly to many 'disciples'. Those teachings were kept secret among the Unificationists and passed down to new disciples through the decades. As the Tal'Shiar claimed more and more control over the Senate, we decided it was best to stay underground."
"As I recall, the last time Ambassador Spock talked about Unification, Commander Sela tried to invade Vulcan by force," Natalia said. "You wouldn't maybe have anything to do with the war, would you?"
"We don't believe in violence, Commander," Terrh said, shaking his head. "Unificationists believe there is a peaceful way to resolve our differences."
"Romulans, peaceful... I never thought I'd hear those two words in the same sentence," she said under her breath.
