[USS Chimera] SD 240905.16 ||SB 234: UNITY|| Duty Log, Commo. Shane Guzman, Capt. Trent Rodgers, RAdm Leland Jefferson
=Starbase UNITY=
Rear Admiral Leland Jefferson was the first to step out of
the docking port, looking around to find Commodore Guzman
waiting for him. Leland had not expected this to be a formal
affair, so standard dress uniform was not required.
Trent stepped out of the docking port as the admiral walked
up to Shane.
"Commodore, it is good to see you again," Jefferson said
with his southern American accent, offering his hand.
The two had only met on a couple of occasions during
meetings, but only in the presence of other admirals and
senior officers back on Earth.
"The pleasure is mine, Admiral" Shane replied and shook
the offered hand, "please welcome on board the UNITY. She
might not be as beautiful as JDC Command back on Earth, but
she's the best in the sector"
As the admiral began talking to Shane, Trent looked around,
studying the scene. He noticed that Shane had an unusual
amount of security for a commodore. He had read Shane's file
and understood the reason for this extra protection. He also
understood that special forces facilities took extra
precautions compared to regular fleet facilities.
If there was anything that Trent understood was security,
being a former security officer himself and in charge of
security at the Federation Council.
Trent was so deep in his observations that he almost didn't
hear the admiral acknowledge him.
"I sure I don't need to introduce you to Captain Rodgers,"
Jefferson said.
"Captain" Shane smiled at Trent, "welcome in the tea m
and I hope you will settle in fast and enjoy your time
here". Offering his hand, Shane nodded towards his new XO
"Commodore," Trent said, taking the offered hand. "I look
fo rward to serving under your command."
Nodding once again, Shane replied: "Most of the senior
staff is away on missions, so you will meet them when
they're back. There is a lot of work here, since you
undoubtly know that my last XO – Colonel PontBrillant was
transferred to Marine command in Quantico on a short notice
… and that happened several weeks ago."
"I understand, Commodore, and I shall do whatever is
required of me," Trent said, then started to study the
expressions of his new CO.
Shane looked at Leland and said: "Admiral, if you allow,
I'd like to strengthen your security detail with a few of
my man. We are almost the front line and the danger level on
board the UNITY is considerably higher then on Earth.
We've had some security accidents in the past and a Deputy
JDC Commander is a prestigious target".
"Normally, I would say no. After all, only a hand full of
people are suppose to even know that I'm here. But, darn it,
from what my people are telling me, word has gotten around of
my visit. So, I suppose the extra security would be a wise
precaution."
Shane pointed towards a security Lieutenant saying:
"Lieutenant Mumacik, Chief of fleet level security will be
at your service during your entire stay on board".
Mumacik, much like most security guys remained silent and
emotionless. In his case however … it was no 'tough
guy' pose, but rather the usual. There were six more
marines behind the Lieutenant and this team was assigned to
support Jefferson's own security detail.
"Then I place my safety in your capable hands, lieutenant,"
Jefferson smiled, knowing that his own security would have
been enough.
Looking at both the Admiral and the Captain, Shan e
suggested: "Shall we get the business out of the way first
or do you want a small tour around the UNITY?"
"Business first," Jefferson said.
"Very well" Shane replied and with a nod ordered
security to head the way. "Let's go to the task force
area, there we can talk without any disturbance". Since
UNITY had a large civilian inhabitant population, it was not
difficult for intel agencies to plant spies on board … and
Shane was sure that the news of Admiral Jefferson arriving
at the UNITY would reach enemy ears soon.
As they walked, Trent walked next to Shane and managed
to position the two away from Jefferson, out of earshot.
"Commodore, I know this may be a bit out of line since we
hardly know each other, but you seem to be a bit
distracted," Trent spoke in a low tone.
Shane looked a pit puzzled at Trent. Well surprised was the
more exact word. For a moment he did not want to respond,
but then only asked plainly: "How do you know?"
"I've been a security officer long enough to pick up on
these things. And working as head of security for the council,
one learns to read their expressions."
Nodding, Shane replied quietly: "Our chief JAG officer,
medical advisor and a civilian child have been kidnapped
yesterday. We have … little clues about where they are at
the moment or what's the reason for the kidnapping". He
did not give away any clues about why he was personally
involved with such a case.
Trent gave an understanding nod, "Well, if there is anything
I can do to help ..."
Shane shrugged slightly: "I don't know Captain. First we
have to locate our people. If you really want to lend a
hand, contact Commander Terek Weranis, UNITY's CSCiO …
he's tracking them down just as we speak"
"I shall do so," Trent replied.
====== conference room one, Task Force area,
later ======
"Please take a seat", Shane offered both his guests as
they arrived in the spacious conference room. After a brief
check, all security personnel left the room, leaving the
three high ranking officers alone.
Jefferson and Rodgers each took a seat. Trent looked around
the room, getting a better layout of things, while Jefferson
seemed to be content.
"So" Shane turned towards Jefferson, "might I ask
about the reason you are here, Admiral?"
"Initially, this was more of a courtsey call, just to get
away from Earth and check out the front on my own. I feel it
is more of a necessity than anything else to get a better feel
of how things are going," Jefferson said. "Recently, though,
we've had reports of Romulans mobilizing mining vessels. At
first, we were uncertain of why. But our operatives on
Romulus believe they are planning to use the mining ships'
drilling rigs for some purpose. Whatever that is, we are not
sure. Still, they seem to be putting some effort into
whateverplan they have for these vessels."
"That's quite news, Sir" Shane replied. After a slight
pause he went on: "There indeed is a matter that concerns
me above everything. Romulans … with all respect to their
Galae (Fleet) … fought for the last 2 years more or less
with the same tactics. Intimidating, raids and utilizing
their cloak technology, avoiding major battles … but for
the last year, we have seen many changes … one could say
improvements to their war tactics. I've got the impression
that the Romulans developed a new commanding style a nd
raised a new generation of war leaders … or someone is
aiding them in a major way. But I cannot imagine a power
aiding the Romulan Empire. I am sure we can leave out the
Borg or Species 8472 … or the Dominion. Klingon Empire is
divided, but sure not supporting the Romulans with full
strength … so who then?"
"That indeed is a good question," Jefferson nodded. "Who
would, or more importantly could help the Romulans and
what would they gain from it? It is possible that there is a
new power out there that we have yet to discover.
Someone is giving them a new found ... what's the word
.. ah, yes ... confidence. If you are right, then it is
important that we find out who the Rommies new friends
are and deal with them accordingly through either
diplomatic channels or with force, if necessary."
Nodding, Shane replied: "We have found some fragments of
evidence about the new player, but nothing we could make any
conclusions. We need to make more recon missions and spend
more time with the shady side of work, but resources are
quite short"
"I have also brought with me a new shipment of supplies
for your shipyard," Jefferson said. "You should be receiving
a new shipment every two weeks from here on out. That
should keep your facility operating nonstop indefinately, or
at least until the war ends."
Shane smiled this time and said: "That's very good news.
The recent lack of resources was unfortunate, cause we are
now quite behind the time schedule. Thank you, Admiral,
everyone needing our help and support will be glad"
"Is there anything else I can help you with, Commodore?"
Jefferson asked. "Now is the time to get any requests
fulfilled."
Shane grinned: "Two things, sir. We could use more help
from SSFI … or even from SFI. We seem to lack information
in a major way and I have the feeling that just ships
won't win this war. My second request is more a wish …
it would be nice if my senior staff would not be reassigned
after a few months here … and on a very short notice. This
makes any plans and development quite hard …"
"I'll have a little chat with Admiral Tuvok and see what SSI
can do to help more. I'll also talk with General Kira can do
from her end. To be honest, here recently, I've been getting
better intel from her people," Jefferson said before leaning
back more comfortably in his chair. "As for your staff, I'm
sure you realize that in war time, people tend to get tossed
from assignment to assignment where they are mosy
needed. Even so, your command is way to critical to the
war effort to be moving people in and out on what seems
like a whim. I'll see what I can do about some of these
orders transferring people out of your senior staff.
"I may have to simply deny those transfers," Jefferson smiled.
"May ruffle a few feathers, but that wouldn't be the first time."
"Thank you, Admiral. I must say that I am very pleased.
Its great to see that one's thing has the support from
high up. Turning to Trent he said: "Captain, your fist
task as my XO will be to inform the shipyard command staff
about the new resources. You know engineers, they will be
happy like a small child with a new toy"
"I'll take care of it right away," Trent said, who had remained
silent throughout the short meeting.
After a short pause, Jefferson stood and straightened out his
uniform, "If there is nothing further to discuss, I believe now
would be a good time to take that tour of your starbase."

+Marine Captain Juvon to Camp Amonak, do you read me?+ The voice of the Exeter's vulcan ODA Commander called in.
"Captain Juvon, this is Captain Tedros Chisulo. What is your report?' Chisulo replied from the make-shift command center established on the planet's surface.
+Captain, we've secured the city. Our tricorders are no longer picking up any rihansuu fortifications or personnel within the city limits. We've captured one platoon of fourteen individuals, they are being cooperative - for the moment.+
Chisulo crossed his arms and walked over to the tactical display of V'Tar city, the capital of the colony. "Good work, Captain Juvon. Return to the Exeter to secure your prisoners."
+Aye, sir. Juvon out.+
Chisulo tapped his combadge at he continued staring at the display, "Chisulo to Hindenburg."
+Hindenberg here, Captain Chisulo. Executive Officer Nadine White responding.+ Came the feminine voice on the other side.
"Commander," Chisulo began, "I want continuous patrol over V'Tar city airspace by Thor and Loki squadrons. Is this possible?"
+Aye sir, it is.+ White responded. +We're scrambling the first squadron as we speak. They should be over head in five minutes.+
"Thank you, Commander. Chisulo out."
Chisulo turned his back, and began walking toward the situation table at the center of the tent. Captain Vrashnel, the andorian captain of the USS Darkstrom approached with a marine guard.
"Captain," Vrashnel said, "LeGrand's fleet is one hour out. The flotilla's commander is requesting an audience and breifing with you upon their arrival."
Chisulo nodded. "Very well then. Captian if you will assume Command here, then I will return to the Detector to prepare for their arrival."
"Of course, Captain." Vrashnel nodded.
To the attention of: COMMODORE SHANE GUZMAN, 1TF CO, UNITY CO
From: CAPTAIN TEDROS CHISULO, 1TF Tactical, Task Group Beta Commander
The strategy employed at V'Tar can be reported as a success. Our fighter squadrons, carried by the USS Hindenburg, performed admirably against Romulan occupying forces in the V'Tar sector. They were able to successzfully weaken ROmulan forces enoguh for re-inforcements to succesfully repel and destroy the Rihansuu occupiers of the former Vulcan and Federation colony. They are, however, many oppurtunities from which we can learn from.
Through my analysis, I can safely say that the Federation Valkyrie fighter-class and the Warhammer - multi-role bomber class are outperformed by the Romulan's own counterparts. It was only the sheer numbers of the hindenberg's squadrons - and the skill of their commanders - that were able to pull of the operation successfully. I was forced to bring in re-inforcements earlier than planned to counter agaisnt the superiorty of romulan fighter craft. I recommend that the federation further devlopment Starfleet's fighter technology. The Lancer program shows considerable promise.
In the operation, Task Group Beta has successfully destroyed two Thalaron cruisers stationed here by the Romulan Empire. Recovered colonial sensor logs however reported four in orbit of the planet at the time of the attack. Science teams from Admiral LeGrands' flotilla have begun analyzing the effects of the radiation on the planet's ecosystem. It appears that deep sea life in the planets few oceans has remained unscathed; as has the lifeforms in the planet's extreme polar regions. Rough estimates however say that the planet's population has fallen 98% as a result of the attacks - including all federation citizens.
Though the city and its infrastuructre has remained unscathed, I reccomend placing the planet under quarantine until such a time the planet is deemed safe for occupancy by tthe science teams investigating.
Admiral LeGrand's forces arrived at 1600 hours, and have begun assuming command over the occupation operations. I transferred Command of Camp Amonak to Captain Felix Leiter of the USS Dulles at 1800 hours. Task Group Beta is reporting back to their respective ships to prepare for the return trip to UNITY at 2300 tonight. Estiamted time of arrival at headquarters is scheduled to be at 1300 tomorrow afternoon. If you have any questions,I will be more than happy to answer them at that time.

[USS Chimera] JL Mimi/ Gustav
Mimi walked out of the bathroom into the bedroom with a towel wrapped
around her to find Gustav face down on the bed. She quietly walked
over and sat on the edge of the bed. Noticing how tense he seemed to
be; she began to massage his muscles. "Bad day?"
Gustav let out a deep breath as Mimi started to work the tension out
of his muscles "not really bad… just busy and stressful, if it's not
one thing it's another nothings running smoothly in this nebula" he
said venting some steam.
"Any way enough of my troubles, how's your day been" he asked as he
turned his head around to look into Mimi's beautiful green eyes.
"It was busy... who would have thought the number of things that
people have to complain about when you enter a nebula and the chief
counsellor is away." She gave him a wink as she moved to straddle him
to work the muscles of his back better. "Would you like me to see if
I could find a glass of wine for you... I think there is some of that
one special bottle left?"
Feeling more and more relaxed by Mimi's skilled fingers Gustav said
"I'd rather you keep going than have wine but thanks anyway".
"Ok." She tightened her towel back in place and then continued what
she was doing. Her hands slid up his back and then she moved in a
circular pattern down to his hips. She did this over and over;
finding a nice relax rhythm until she accidental brushed her fingers
over the place where his artificial arm was attached.
Gustav felt a short sharp electrical shock from his artificial arm
then felt light on his right side.
Thump!
He just looked down at the floor to see his arm laying there on the
floor "Don't worry about it… just leave it there for the moment"
Gustav said with a slight chuckle in his voice.
Mimi's hand flew up to her mouth cutting off her surprise. She was
glad Gustav couldn't see the colour the crept up her neck and stained
her cheeks. "Oops!," she tried and went back to the massage she was
giving; trying to find the rhythm that she had established only
moments ago.
Gustav started to relax again almost to the point of starting to drift
off to sleep until he felt Mimi start to tickle him.
"This is starting to become a habit," she referred to his falling
asleep. "Maybe I should just get dressed and leave you alone," she
suggested upon a second look at his exhausted face.
Sitting up Gustav reached down an picked up his arm and reattached it
"You don't need to leave, I'm just very tired, how about we go and get
something to eat at the mess hall" he asked.
"Well... maybe you should..." She hesitated and then replied, "Sure."
"Great I'll just get cleaned up and changed then we'll head".
Standing in her towel close by where he was she commented, "I suppose I should pull something on as well.." Her thoughts raced off to what she should where when a firm tug left her skin to cool as the towel feel to the floor.

[USS Chimera] ||SB 234: UNITY|| SD 240905.14 Duty Log, Commo. Shane Guzman
====== CO's office, Main Ops, SB 234: UNITY
======
Shane was still sitting in his chair … but felt slightly
uneasy. He looked around himself and thought that this was
not his office, but a strange place. Well … technically
this WAS his office, as he was UNITY's CO as well … but
his place was definitely the 1TF CO's office tenths decks
above this one.
The only reason he stayed here was Terek's search for
clues about the kidnapper's ship. He had to nod to himself
as being lucky to have Terek on board, since the CSCiO did a
hell of work to trace those who kidnapped his beloved.
Not knowing what magic did Terek employ, Shane's got some
bits of information already. By chance, an satellite that
was malfunctioning and towed aside to wait for repairs
picked up visual contact with an unidentified ship who's
position originated at those coordination where Live's
access codes have been used the last time. Chance was great
that the ship was really the kidnapper's one. Terek was
now running a scan on those data, sure was only that it was
no federation ship … or a ship of fed allies like Klingons
or Erassians. From the ship's trajectory a course was
plotted that lead into the Romulan Empire. Shane feared it
would lead to Romulus or some other major planet, but
instead of that it was leading to a region of Romulan Empire
that was far from the Centrum.
There were some news from the attached shipyard as well. Not
good news only … the expected Lancer batch was quite in a
delay. Resources reasons were announced and Shane had to
wonder about that. Last time he checked (a month ago) the
requirements queve was well stocked and resource transports
from Earth were scheduled in to arrive in time. He wanted to
inquire the case, but busy as he was, he trusted Rodgers to
handle it.
Preliminary reports from Commander Ohmsford and his task
group arrived yesterday. It was obvious that assigning
Chimera and Cropa's crew to deal with the Erassians was a
good idea. Getting in touch with General Ivanov, they seemed
to make some progress in getting into Erassian space.
Shane sighed. Ivanov was a strange individual. He and Shane
had quite a history on the Chimera (while under Shane's
command) and the strange dislike, but mutual respect of
those two man had a major impact of relation of this two
powers in the alpha quadrant – Federation and Erassian
Alliance. In a certain way, the saying: "even the smallest
thing can change the course of the future" become true
once again …
On the other hand, the Thalaron investigation led by Captain
Chisulo went very well. TF Command just got a notice that
Romulan forces in the affected systems have been destroyed
or forced to leave and that the last stage of this operation
was running – ground combat. Since the entire planet has
been voided … and no live survived the Thalaron attack,
there was no worry about civilian causalities during the
operation. Shane looked forward to get a copy of Chisulo's
report regarding the thalaron tech used there. It was
needless to say that Chisulo's tactical experience paid
off in a large scale space battle.
Looking at the console in front of him, Shane realized that
the arrival of Admiral Jefferson and Captain Trent Rodgers
was about to happen. He needed to be there to greet the two
man, since it was never god to let an Admiral waiting …
and even less when the actual Admiral was the 2nd in Command
of all Joint Defense Command. Summoning the Chief of fleet
level security – Lieutenant Mumacik, Shane left the
operations level and headed towards the docking port II.

small bow then exited the room and closed the door behind
him. A second or so later came the sound of a lock being
turned Rangi moved towards the door, listened carefully but
could
hear niothing. She tried the handle but the door was
definately locked. She frowned, wondering if the situation
had changed much for now they were still prisoners and the
only difference was the captor.
"What is this?"
She turned her head and saw Martin waiting for an answer. He
patted a hand onto a statue that he was standing next to.
"I dont know really." she replied, walking towards him.
"They said this is a chapel so I imagine that must represent
a God of some kind."
Martin looked at it doubtfully, gazing up at the figure,
which was a mixture of human and bird like features.
"Why does it look like this?" he asked and puffed out his
cheeks at the same time opening his eyes widely.
Rangi laughed quietly at his near perfect impersonation.
" Best not to do that." she said coming to his side.
"Although we might find this creature amusing, the people
here might not like us making fun of it." She laid her hand
on his shoulder and smiled to him.
Martins cheeks deflated and he smiled back.
The door opened again and another robed figure entered. It
nodded towards Rangi and shuffled across the room to an
alcove. A sinewy hand reached forth and pulled the beak on
the statue in the alcove, which was a replica of the large
statue that Martin had been gazing at earlier. The alcove
swung inwards, and the figure motioned for Rangi to follow.
"Please... come inside," it said.
The room looked gloomy, with shadows in the corners. It
didnt look welcoming at all. Rangi stopped in the doorway
and glanced around, though there was little to see.She
stepped inside with Martin holding her hand and a moment
later and it was he who said " Look!", sounding as surprised
as she was.
Inside the dark room was an old, outdated loose-standing
terminal. The figure indicated for Rangi to sit down.
"Please... for you to use," it insisted. "Please."
She looked from the terminal to the figure and back then,
meeting his hooded gaze asked. "To use?"
He gave a half bow and pointed again to the seat. This time
she needed no second bidding but crossed quickly to the
chair and sat down.
It was an exciting moment for here in front of her was a way
to communicate....but where to begin?
She raised her fingers but clenched them into fists for much
as she wanted to start, the technology was outdated and she
wasnt sure how to initiate it.
Noticing her hesitance, the figure stepped carefully forward
and pressed a few commands on the keyboard in front of the
monitor, touching it almost as if it were poisonous.
Nothing happened immediately except that a logo appeared on
the green screen. Martin stood beside Rangi but looked up at
the robed figure doubtfully but then a series of five notes
sounded and the screen came to life.
"You have to press that" Martin said helpfully but Rangi
grabbed his hand.
" Dont touch anything." she warned and from the depths of
her memory, she began to tap in the basics.
The message would go to Unity and this time there was no
need to try to hide clues.
"We're in Quorum space." she began. " ..although I dont know
the exact location. Harker is the reason behind it. He has a
Chameloid take Major Varis' place....I have no idea for how
long and i dread to think what he might have accessed...but
he's dead..killed in a fight and martin and I are safe. "
She glanced at the robed figure who stood impassively to one
side then continued: " There are some people here who have
helped us and..."
In an instant the screen reverted to its original logo and
Rangi, wondering what had happened, looked at the figure.
Martin said : " Links gone" in a resigned tone.
everyone look towards the door. "Stay... please," the robed
figure urged them and moved towards the exit. He pushed the
doorway open and entered back into the chapel, closing the
secret alcove behind him.
quiet." she whispered.

[USS Chimera] SD 240905.13 || Captain's Log || Captain Cropa Rojac ||
Captain Cropa Rojac -
The Chimera has re-entered the Grand Banks Nebula, this time with Commander Bren Ohmsford aboard and the rest of the Task Group in tow. We are being escorted by the EAS Prometheus, a fifth generation destroyer class vessel of General Ivanov's Second Erassian Fleet. Her commander, Colonel Alfred Hendricks is an experienced and battle-hardened ship commander with extensive knowledge of both the Canna System and the Grand Banks Nebula. Though he has had few encounters with the Breen, I have no doubts that his efforts will contribute positively to this mission.
I have ordered the tactical department to share all approved tactical knowledge on the Breen that we are allowed to with Colonel Hendricks - including data on their organic ships, their energy dampening weapons and type-three disruptor arrays. I have also forwarded tactical analysis of our encounters with the breen in the Antigonis Sector, and our investigations of the cargo freighter they raided there.
Commander Natalia Trzetrzelewska is currently running operations on the bridge. Navigating through the Grand Banks Nebula can be a grueling task, it reminds me of flying blindly thorugh the Briair Patch on the way to the Lost planet on the Chimera-A. Hopefully, we will make it out of this Nebular encounter in one piece.
Lieutenant Dior is keeping pace with the Prometheus, staying 100km off of her aft section and maintaing a sensor lock on her propulsion systems. Marine Captain Reese is giving me hourly updates on the shields and power systems aboard the ship. So far, nothing life threatening has occured. Every now and then, a neural-gel pack in the computer system would overload and shut off a breaker - but she would quickly dispatch a damage control team to remedy the situation.
Lieutenant Kroizter manages to keep the static electricty build-ups under check by directing the pent-up energy through the deflector once the danger threshold has been reached. This manages to keep the shields operational as well - and the hulls polarized.
Medical reports being in a state of readiness, though a few crew members are reporting bouts of dizziness and disorientation - sea-sickness, if you will. Dr. Rice and his staff conclude that the ailment is more prevalent in races that rely on electromagnetic and magnetic-senses for their senses of balance and direction; similar to the way selkie's on Pacifica do or the crystalline Syrath race. They are busy finding recommendations for remedying this malady for the crew, and have suggested that engineering alter the life-support and anti-grav systems to create an artificial magentic field. Engineering has yet to get pack to me on the type of power requirements that would take. In the meantime, Commander Trzetrzelewska has filled the effected crew's positions.
Lieutenant Jardan has his teams running through cold-weather assignements on the training holo-decks. He is hosting Security teams from the USS Magellan, Rapier, and Eagle. The initial scenarios are scheduled to conclude at the top of the hour, and the Lieutenant is scheduled to make a full report after that time.
I feel the crew will be prepared once we enter the Canna System. In 6 hours, we will exit the nebula, and will enter the Canna system under cloak following the EAS Prometheus on a survey route to avoid suspicion. From there, Commander Ohmsford has ordered the faster USS Rapier, and Commander Hank Telson, to break off on a reconnaissance run inside the system to locate the Breen outpost. There we will hopefully find our prey.
Computer, end log.

=/\= MISSION SUMMARY/QUOTES OF THE WEEK =/\=
==============================================
-------------------------
- Summary (by Bren and Rangi)
-------------------------
= Chimera Summary =
(IXUS)
Gustav orders Walker to channel a power surge out through the main deflector dish. Cropa returns from the EAS Hermes and recieves a sitrep before ordering a rendezvous course with the rest of the task force. Cropa, Natalia and Anya have a conversation with Bren, Mayo and the Erassian Hendricks. Jade worries about the damage done to the sensors by the Grand Banks. Viktor and Athena have a bit of a domestic.
= UNITY Summary =
(Rangi)
Admiral Jefferson met Trent who was still not happy at theprospect of joining Unity as XO.
Meanwhile, Commodore Guzman was greeting another newcomer
who didnt want to be there either! << what IS it that gives
Unity such a bad name??>>
Shane had met Mumacik before but the Lieutenants lack of
emotions had not changed in the seven years that had elapsed
and Shanes mention of the vacant Chief of Task Force level
security position was met by a sad lack of enthusiasm ending
with a rejection of it. Shane then informed Mumacik that the
position had already been assigned to him because he was the
ideal man for the job, at which the lieutenant changed his
mind and said he would begin work within the hour.
Rick was surprised to learn that Jefferson was bringing the
long awaited shipment himself and that six cargo vessels
were on their way.
Aboard the USS Detector, Chisulo watched the battle
unfolding. Despite losses, V'Tar 11 was liberated and ODA
teams were beamed to the planets surface which had become
all but a ghostly place due to the RomulansThalaron weapon.
On arrival at Unity, Trent discovered that he was to have a
bodyguard and when he questioned Jefferson as to the need,
learned that the Praetors favourite brother had been killed
aboard a Warbird that Trent had destroyed and as a result,
Trent was on a 'hitlist'.
Rangi and Martin discovered that Harker was behind their
kidnapping but managed to escape with the help of two robed
figures who led them to safety in a chapel.

- Quotes of the Week (by Bren)
-------------------------
Nym sat in the lounge chair rolling her eyes at the ceiling while the patient wasn't looking as she took her notes.
- 2Lt "I'm like so bored right now" Nyx
=
- Now for some positive words...
"Good thinking," Rojac nodded as he scanned through Kroitzer's logs, "if the shields would have gone down we would have had one hell of a medical emergency aboard the ship. Your blood would be boiling right about now." He smirked.
- Captain "sunnyside up" Rojac
=
- The cold fish is back!
The question here is, do you want that position, Mr.
Mumacik?"
"No, Commodore" said Mumacik plainly.
"Well, Lieutenant Mumacik, then it wont please you that
your transfer has already been approved by Starfleet
Command, will it?"
"No, Commodore" said Mumacik plainly again.
- Lieutenant "ice ice, baby" Mumacik

* SUBJECT LINES/LOGGING GUIDELINES/WEBSITE NEWS/IRC INFO *
==============================================
-------------------------
- Subject Lines
-------------------------
Please remember to use the following format for your subject lines:
SD 24YYMM.DD, Duty/Personal Log, Rank Name
e.g., SD 240502.01, CO's Log, Capt Rojac
e.g., SD 240502.01, Personal Log, Cropa Rojac
The [USS Chimera] part of the subject is placed automatically by the listserv, so you don't need to include it.
Also remember to include your details at the end of your log
e.g.,
Captain Cropa Rojac
Commanding Officer
USS Chimera NX 96899-B
-------------------------
- Logging Guidelines
-------------------------
Logging:
The weekly logging deadline is at Midnight (12:00AM/00:00) GMT/UTC (19:00 EST); all logs received after the deadline will be counted for the following week. If you are pressed for time and would like a log to count for the previous week, but it is sent after the deadline, please send an email to the command team when you send the log so that we can make the corrections.
Please remember that all MAJOR plot changes need to be cleared with the command staff before a log goes through! You can do this by sending the command staff (chimera-command@ucip.org ) a log labeled with "Draft" tagged to the subject line. We'll typically let you know if it's approved within 24 to 48 hours, or tell you what might need to be modified before it's sent to the listserv.
When using other characters in your logs, please keep in mind that person's characteristics. Character information can be found on the UCIP website or the USS Chimera website (under CREW - just click on the Star Trek symbol next to the character's name). If you're still unsure how to interact with a character, then privately mail the person
involved, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help.
Conversely, if you feel that your character is being portrayed incorrectly by someone please contact them to try to work out an agreeable solution. Just keep in mind when logging to treat other characters the way you'd like them to treat you - with the respect due to any member of Starfleet who is a specialist in their field.
If you think your log may be going out of bounds, then please ask! If you are having problems finding things to write about or would just like some help with your log, please contact your department head or the command team. Remember, you don't always have to log about things relating to the main plot - logs that develop your character's
personality are encouraged! We're eager to help if you're having trouble; just email the command team (chimera-command@ucip.org).

-------------------------
Any officer who is Absent Without Leave (0) for two or more consecutive

The following crewmen are on report:
none.
-------------------------
- Removals/Resignations
-------------------------
The following crew have either resigned or have been dropped due to lack of activity. If they would like a position on the USS Chimera, they will need to reapply.

=Starbase UNITY=
"Giddy up."
"I am giddying up," Rick responded as he crawled around on the
floor, making the best horse sounds as he could with his daughter
sitting on his back.
"Faster daddy! Bad guys getting away," Rachel shouted out.
"I going as fast as I can," Rick replied as he turned to crawl to the
other end of the main living area.
"Horseys don't talk, silly," Rachel giggled.
"Well, this one does," Rick grinned as he shook her off his back,
grabbed her and tickled her on the deck.
As Rachel laughed and tried to get away, the door chimed.
"Come," Rick said, still tickling his daughter.
"Now that looks like fun," Rick heard as he looked up to see Jo
Weathersby standing at the door.
"Hey Aunt Jo!" Rachel yelled out between breaths as Rick stopped
tickling her.
"Hey Rachel," Jo said.
"We're playing horsey. Wanna play?"
"Uhhh ... maybe later," Jo smiled at the sight of Rick and Rachel
playing around on the floor.
Rick sat up on the deck against the front of the couch, also
breathing a little heavy. Rachel grabbed her teddy bear, Nicky, and
sat on one end of the couch.
"You seem to be in a good mood," Jo said.
"I am. New supply shipment should arrive tomorrow. Lancer
production only have to be shut down for day. Will easily get back on
production schedule in no time."
"That is good news," Jo said as she sat in a lounge chair. "Where's
your wife?"
"Talking a long bath," Rick answered. "So, what on your mind?"
"Just a rumor going around."
"What kind of rumor?"
"A new task force XO. I thought if anybody would know, it would be
you."
"Why would I know?"
"Because word has it that the new XO is your brother," Jo stated.
"Really? Where you hear that?"
"Here and there," Jo said.
"Well, I not know anything about that," Rick said. "You not ... should
not believe every rumor you hear."
"Sounded pretty ligit to me," Jo said. "Well, if you haven't heard
anything, then it's probably just scuttlebutt."
"Probably so," Rick said. "You want to stay for dinner?"
"Whatcha having?"
"Whatever Mai in the mood for," Rick answered.
"Sure. Sounds good."
