[USS Chimera] SD240910.10 ||SB 234: UNITY|| NPC Personal Log, Capt. Trent Rodgers
=Starbase UNITY=
After another late evening at the office, Trent had returned to his quarters and whent straight to bed. It didn't take long for him to fall asleep. As he slept, he felt a slight, familiar tingle. When he opened his eyes, he realized that he was no longer in bed, or his quarters for that matter.
"What the hell," Trent quickly stood, going on the defensive.
"Relax," Trent heard someone say from off to his right. He turned, ready to attack his abductor.
It was then, Trent understood where he was at.
"Damn it, Sam. What in the hell are you doing?"
Tung Cho, formally known as Sam Wang, just smiled at his childhood friend. The pirate/crime boss was alone in the room on board the Reaver with the task force XO.
"Relax, Trent. You're to jumpy. Perhaps you need to cut back on the caffeine.
Trent did relax a little, but he was always on guard when around Cho.
"This has nothing to do with caffeine. Why in the hell am I here? How did I get here for that matter?"
Cho motioned for Trent to follow, which the XO did as they left the room and stepped out into the corridor.
"I'll address the how part first. You see, I recently came across this handy little device that can overcome any security protocols. So, beaming you off the base was a simple matter."
"Sam!"
"Don't worry, I'll transfer over the specs of the device to the starbase as a sign of good faith. Your people should have no trouble figuring it out."
"And this ship. I take it we're cloaked?" Trent asked.
"Of course. But that's not why I beamed you here."
"You beamed me here to show off."
"No, I don't need to show off," Cho said, sounding a bit annoyed.
"Did you get the package?" Trent asked.
"Yes, I did. One of my other ships will bring it here in a day or so. By the way, you owe me big for this. But that's not the reason you're here."
They stepped foot on the small bridge of the Reaver.
"When we were in the Romulus system picking up the package, we came across some interesting information. It seems that the praetor has put out a hit on you."
"I'm aware of that," Trent said. "He does blame me for killing his brother, which I suppose I did."
"Were you aware of how much? One hundred thousand bricks of latinum."
Trent's eyes widened by that realization.
"And there are already at least a dozen bounty hunters heading this way," Cho continued. "And these are no rookies. They're dangerous individuals. The kind that I would hire if I were in the same situation. And you know me, I'm not much on hiring outsiders."
"Do you have any names?"
"I do, but it will not do you any good. If they want to get to you, they will."
Trent took a deep breath, "Then I suppose I'd better be on alert at all times."
Sam/Cho nodded.
"I'll do you another favor that you will owe me big for," Cho said. "I'll intercept as many of these bounty hunters as I can. But I will not be able to stop them all."
"Thanks," Trent said. "One hundred thousand bricks of latinum. That's a lot of money. I'm surprised you haven't tried to collect yourself."
Sam/Cho smiled, "I did consider it. But, if I really want that much latinum, I have other ways of getting it."
Trent looked around at Cho's bridge crew, wondering if any of them would try to collect.
As if reading Trent's mind, "Don't worry. My crew fear my retaliation if they were to kill you."
Trent nodded as they walked into Cho's small office/ready room.
"T, have you ever wondered why I have been able to come and go through Federation space as I please even though I'm considered one of Federation security's most wanted."
"The thought has crossed my mind," Trent admitted.
"Well, someday I'll tell you. Someday, you may need to know. For now, it's probably best that you don't know."
Trent was a bit puzzled, but didn't bother to question Cho. They talked for a few more minutes before Trent was beamed back to the starbase.

[USS Chimera] SD 240910.10 || ALPHA || Duty Log, Capt Ohmsford
Captain Bren Ohmsford was working on the bridge of the USS Quasar for a change after weeks of nearly isolating himself in one of the ship's science labs while he conducted his work and studies of the station. Bren had come to the bridge and was using the auxiliary science station there to coordinate sensor logs with the Magellan and the station as well as a number of the Klingon ships at the station. Captain Nichols was seated in the command chair, and Bren thought to himself that he'd seen her seldom elsewhere since they arrived at the Quorum station.
Out of the corner of his eye, Bren was keeping a watch on the teams exploring the lower sections of the station. They were doing the final detailed sweep, searching for anything out of the ordinary. The station's internal sensors were very ineffective and it was possible the Romulan technology on the station could be interfering with the sensors of the starship docked at the station, so the best course of action was to send teams to explore.
"Captain, we're receiving a transmission from the station," the tactical officer said. "It's a request from Brigadier Stirling that all ships detach from the station and assume yellow alert status."
"Thank you," Nichols responded. "Helm, maintain current position."
The Quasar wasn't attached to the station and had been constantly at yellow alert anyways, so it made no difference to her current status, but Bren found himself wondering why Stirling was issuing the order. Curious, he got up and moved closer to the command chair. "Anything we should be worried about, Captain?" he asked Nichols.
"Standard procedure, I'm sure," Nichols replied. "The order has been given twice before if tachyon grids detect possible cloaked signatures in the local sector."
Bren nodded. "I see." You would've known that if you hadn't been holed up in that science lab all the time, he thought to himself. He returned to his seat and looked at the readouts on the science station when suddenly his eye caught a massive energy spike coming from the lower decks of the station, where the ship had been tracking one of the exploring engineering teams.
"What in the..." he heard Nichols say and quickly looked towards viewer, shocked at what he saw. A large explosion had ripped through several of the lower decks of the station, tilting the station by ten degrees and sending one of the pylons crashing into the starboard wing of a Klingon ship that was in the process of disembarking.
"Report!" Nicholas shouted.
"Reading an unidentified energy explosion from the lower section of the station," Bren read out as the data appeared on his screen.
"Captain, I'm reading three Romulan warbirds decloaking; distance, three millions kilometers," Tactical reported.
"Red alert; ready all phasers," Nichols ordered. "Standby to engage on my order."
"Captain," Bren spoke up quickly. "We need to get those people off the station. With that kind of damage, the station will tear apart and vent all its atmosphere in a matter of hours, nevermind what a firefight would do to it." As he spoke, he knew that was probably the Romulans' plan, to wait until Sharpe and his group had left, cripple the station and then trust the Federation's conscience to make themselves vulnerable for attack.
Nichols nodded quickly. "Standby to drop shields and begin transporting personnel. Ops, coordinate with the other ships. I want everyone off that station."

[USS Chimera] SD 240910.10 || ALPHA || Duty Log, Lt Avex
Lieutenant Avex was combing the bowels of the old trading station with a small of team of Starfleet engineers as Captain Ohmsford's teams continued to explore all the parts the station. Though the station itself wasn't too big, there seemed to be many small rooms and antechambers that were hidden by the Romulans who had occupied the station, places that couldn't be detected by regular scanners and didn't show up on station maps.
The particular section of the station he and his team of three were exploring seemed to be very old, and the Denobulan officer suspected it had been part of the original structure built long before the station was turned into a trading post and much longer still before the Romulans got hold of it. The lighting was low and they used torches strapped to their wrists to guide the way.
"Ugh," a voice said with disgust as they were walking and Avex stopped, turning around to face the person who spoke.
"What is it?" he asked, concerned.
"Oh, nothing major sir, I just seem to have stepped in some kind of... mulch," the ensign said as he lifted up his boot, green goo dripping from it.
"That's interesting," Avex frowned as he took a closer look. "Maybe it's an algae from one of the hydroponic bays that managed to get down here somehow." He dropped down to his haunches and looked at where the algae was growing against the wall.
"It almost seems as if it's seeping through the bottom of the wall, sir," the ensign replied.
"That is not possible, this area was constructed to be air tight in case of a hull breach," one of the other engineers, a Vulcan technician, observed keenly.
Avex placed his hand against the wall to steady himself, but as he leaned against it he fell inward through it, the lower half of his body sticking out through the rest of the wall. "I'm all right!" his disembodied voice said after a minute as he got up and disappeared completely through the wall. "It's just a hologram. Come through."
As the rest of his team followed him through, they found the lieutenant in a small dark room staring at a cylindrical device in front of him. He had his tricorder out and was running it over the device. "I'm not sure what this is," he said, walking slowly around it. "But I'm detecting a low pulse energy reading from it. It's very low; would explain why internal sensors haven't picked it up before."
"It does not appear to be Romulan technology," the Vulcan technician observed. He was about say something more when the cylinder emitted a sudden bright light followed by a powerful burst that oblitered everything around it including the team of engineers.

[USS Chimera] SD 240910.10 || ALPHA || Duty Log, Maj Kinn
Major Kinn sat in the control room of Padassa Station monitoring the fleet of Romulan ships that were making their way towards Ru'Bazean homeworlds. Klingon and Quorum officials had been locked in talks almost constantly since they first detected the movement of the fleet, yet a decision had not yet been made on what to do. It was an impossible situation, one that Giella was not sure she would know how to handle if the choice were up to her.
Quorum ships were too slow in evacuating the population before the Thalaron cruisers would arrive, and they would easily be intercepted by Romulan warbirds and picked off one by one. It would take too long for Federation ships to arrive and assist in evacuation, so that option was not available. As for Klingon assistance, most of the fleet assigned to Quorum was currently busy with other objectives, and Klingon ships were built for battle, not for carrying large crew numbers; they wouldn't even be able to evacuate a tenth of the population. There also weren't enough ships available to be diverted to attack the Romulan fleet. Although the Klingons loved a challenge, their generals also weren't foolish enough to send most of their ships on a suicide mission.
It was now simply a matter of a few short hours before the Romulans would reach their target and the attack would begin. Giella traced back the sensor logs to extrapolate a more accurate ETA, then stopped when she noticed something odd. Out of the original group of ships that was heading towards the planet, three had disappeared. She compared the data three times to make sure her eyes weren't deceiving her, then glided her chair to the station next to hers.
"Out of my way," she ordered the junior Klingon officer seated there. He gave a grunt and a filthy look but did as he was told and moved out of the way; the Klingons had come to respect the Tollauran major by now.
She quickly tapped in a pair of commands that gave her detailed access to the various tachyon grids that had been establish since the Federation's arrival in Quorum space. Though the Romulans still had technology to evade them, not all ships had been outfitted with advanced cloaks. Hoping for just a glimpse of where those ships could have gone, she compared the hundreds of grids, overlaying each of them and adding checks for possible Romulan warp and energy signatures. A moment later a grid set up by Klingon ships revealed three faint sensor echoes in one of Padassa's neighbouring star systems. They were still under cloak, but there was no question now where they were heading: towards Padassa. But why only three? They would be greatly outnumbered.
Standing up from her chair, Giella tapped her commbadge. "Major Kinn to Brigadier Stirling. Sir, there's something you should see in the control room.

[USS Chimera] SD240910.09 Joint Duty Log - Cmdr/MCapt CMO/COps Rangi Summers and Jade Reese - "Follow Up Appointment"
Walking into the infirmary Jade went straight up to the
check-in, "morning here to see Commander Summers." Jade said
noticing that the person at the check-in was someone she
didn't recognize. Waving that off she waited while the
medical personnel opened up the scheduling program tapping a
few buttons he finally looked up.
"Alright if you could have a seat a nurse will bring you
back to her office." The medical personnel said. Jade nodded
and headed over to the small waiting room and took a seat
she didn't pick up one of the PADDs to read the articles she
just decided to sit and watch people walk by the check-in
window or stare at the wall she found both things to be very
relaxing.
Some minutes passed before a young nurse appeared, spoke
briefly to her colleague at the recpetion desk then stepped
forward and called Jades name.
"Please come with me." she said having identified the one
she sought and hardly waiting for Jade to join her, set off
to retrace her steps, leading the way towards the CMOs
office.
Rangi greeted Jade warmly when the nurse showed her in.
" Good morning Captain, please sit down " she said and
waited a moment for Jade to settle herself on the chair.
" So...tell me...how are the headaches and how are you
feeling generally?"
"The headaches are pretty much gone with the help of the
exercises that Cmdr T'Vel showed me." Jade said smiling,
"but it still takes a lot out of me to block everything."
Jade said thinking that was the worst of everything just
being exhausted by the end of the day. "But I think over
time it'll get better and I won't be so tired." Jade added.
Rangi agreed.
"Yes" she said as she laid a her hand on a medpadd near to
it. "I've been reading the report from Dr T'Vel. She's made
reference to the speed in which you've been able to master
the techniques... not a mean feat in itself...and is most
encouraging when looking towards the final result.
As you say though, mastering such techniques is very tiring.
I want you to try something for a few days and see how it
goes."
She paused, finalising her own thoughts." This is rather
uncharted territory for us." she said with a smile "...so we
need to learn by trial and error to a certain degree. I
propose that you return to light duties, just a few hours a
day, very few to begin with. It could be that concentrating
on work might prove difficult for you. You do ofcourse need
to continue with the exercises that Dr.T'Vel has given you."
Jade nodded her head she was kinda feeling stir crazy these
last few days but glad that they knew what was going on and
ways to handle it. "Has there been any head way in why all
of the sudden this ability got stronger I guess is the best
way to put it?" Jade asked hoping that they might find an
answer but if not she was okay with it.
"Well yes and no." Rangi replied. " We found that you have
an increase of synaptic connections but exactly why we dont
know....yet.
That ofcourse will be monitored but for the moment the main
thing is that you're learning to deal with your new
situation."
Again nodding she knew enough about physiology to know what
synaptic connections were and that they developed pretty
much though out your life. "This may sound weird but
could've been radiation?" She asked thinking of her last
mission into the nebula to locate a source of a
communication.
"Indeed it could" Rangi replied. "...and its something that
will be investigated. We're also thinking of sound." She
smiled at Jades surprised expression." There was a report
recently in the medical journal about experiments that had
been done. They indicate that certain frequencies
and certain rhythms can actually cause changes in the alpha
waves. It could be that you might fall under this too."
"Hmmm didn't know sound and certain rhythms were that
powerful." Jade said sounding and looking a little concerned
thinking if that was the case where would that stop, "if
this is the case should I be worried about anything else
that might change?" Jade asking knowing that they'll be
keeping a close eye on her because of this but she also
didn't want this to end her career in SF.
" No,no, " Rangi reassured her. " This came about soley
close to her cage. Odd but true." she smiled. " The owner
happens to be part of a neurological team."
"Okay." Jade said feeling better that it wouldn't happen all
the time, "well is there anything else you would like to
ask?" Jade said remembering that she might have other
patients to see.
back in a weeks time...sooner ofcourse if the headaches
return or if you feel unable to cope.I'll authorise you're
return to restricted duty but again, I trust you to be wise
about that and if it proves too difficult then you must say
so and we'll delay it for a while."

====== Investigation room three, Security area,
SB 234: UNITY ======
Shane walked into the investigation room three with both his
never-seen-the-Admiral-without-them guards. This was the
place where the investigation of the latest poison attempt
in fleet level area took place, currently with a
conversation with the Erassian agent that prevented the
strike from achieving its goal.
Nodding to the two security officers in the room, Shane
walked towards the Erassian agent and said plainly: "I am
Rear Admiral Guzman, CO of UNITY. I don't think we have ever
been introduced …"
Ryunosuke gave a slight shake of his head "I don't think we
have Admiral but then again I am not that long assigned to
'Ambassador' Ayanami's Staff only entering her service just
before the incursion onto the station at Narendara. My name
is Ryunosuke and as you have probably been informed I am the
head of Ambassador Ayanami's escort flight."
Shane replied: "Nice to meet you. I'd like to thank you on
behalf of all you saved with your actions, including my son
and some of my most valuable staff officers. Furthermore I'd
like to say that you have indeed diplomatic immunity on
behalf of the diplomatic relation treaty between Federation
and Erassian Alliance and if you wish, you can leave this
room immediately. But I … kindly … ask you to stay and
to help us going to the root of this and prevent further
such attacks on this station"
"My duty starts and ends with the well being of Ambassador
Ayanami. However I am not adverse to helping out to advance
further improved relations between the Alliance and the
Federation and remove those who would harm my charge. There
is however something you should be aware of Admiral...I am a
hybrid. The reason I mention it is because you don't have
the best of track records at dealing with our species even
with the one who did save your...partner and whose
subordinates in a controversial unit saved you and said son.
Why ask me, a complete stranger now?" Ryunosuke asked
curiously.
Shane sighed slightly. One's action often came back in a
loop, getting in one's way when least expecting it.
Considering his answer for a moment, Shane replied: "Let's
call me an old lunatic and a strange fellow. I tend to deal
with individuals not species or races, but if you hint on my
relation to General Ivanov, who was a mere Sergeant under my
Command, let's leave that on the General and me. I ask you
for help cause it was you who noticed the poison attempt and
beaten all the security measurements within Fleet level
area. I'd like to know what made you aware of the danger and
of there is the possibility to utilize your knowledge in
finding more possible agents BEFORE they attempt to kill
someone ..."
Ryunosuke gave a slight chuckle. "I asked out of curiousity
not as a bargaining tool. As I said to Commander Summers I
noticed the enemy agent as she put new sheets in Ambassador
Ayanami's quarters. Ambassador Ayanami does not have sheets
provided by this service due to security concerns. Granted
those concerns factored more around the possibility of
listening devices being planted rather than an assassination
attempt. So Admiral I'm afraid my suspicions were roused by
my astounding knowledge of Ambassador Ayanami's laundry
habits rather than my limited knowledge of espionage and
assassination. That being said the prisoner you hold is
human but I have my doubts she was hired by the Romulans or
their allies."
Nodding, Shane said: "I understand. But you say that you
doubt Romulan involvement in this event. May I ask why? Many
of the security accidents on UNITY could be tracked down to
Tal'shiar or Romulan allies, though not all"
"I know that there are restrictions of the use of our
telepathic abilities but I felt the situation was indicative
of extenuating circumstances. I gave her a light scan and
when Commander Summers asked her where she was from her
thoughts focused heavily on a human male briefing her that she
was from Aeren III." Ryunosuke said. "The man was a former
Ganymede Genetics Corporation employee. I met him once five
years ago and he was fairly vocal in his hatred of Romulans."
Shane sighed: "We shall speak about violating privacy and
restriction rules later. I am not happy with the means
you've got your information, but the information itself is
interesting. What sense would ex Ganymede Genetics
Corporation employee have in murdering the Ambassador, me,
my son and my staff? Is it just a plain attempt to weaken
our alliance? But I do not see a reason for that?"
Ryunosuke interlaced his fingers in front of his mouth and
answered whilst deep in thought. "If it was merely a case
of sabotaging relations between the Federation and the
Alliance they would have put poisoned sheets in every room
but Ambassador Ayanami's. A lousy frame but it likely
would have been accepted as fact. No I think there are
other factors involved, perhaps the success of recent
missions against the Romulans. Removing some of the
top strategic planners on both the front lines of the war
would result in a quagmire. Who would benefit from both
sides of this war wearing themselves into annihilation?"

[USS Chimera] SD 240910.07 || BRAVO || Takeoff Log || Type 11 - USS Serpent ||
Almost immediately upon entering Lt. Ianto Jones, the AOps assigned to the rescue mission, fell into stride with the young Capatain as he made his way to the designated shuttlecraft: the type 11 - personnel carrier USS Serpent. It was one of the view shuttle craft outfitted with the stealth plating along with the Chimera herself.
Cropa looked to the young Lieutenant to his right, "Report."
"We should be minuets away from launch. Lt Kroitzer is finishing up some final preps." Ianto said taking a look at a PADD that was handed
to him as he entered the shuttlebay. He then turned the PADD off and handed it to one of the deck crew he wouldn't need it once on the
shuttle.
"That's good news, Lieutenant." Rojac replied, stopping before Lieutenant Castillo but not yet turning to face the security officer. "Go aboard and take the Mission Ops seat, you'll be flying shotgun this mission."
"Aye sir." Ianto said sounding somewhat excited this was only the second time that he had took the mission ops position he enjoyed the mission ops position after this was all over he may head back to the academy to take courses in StratOps.
Cropa turned to face Castillo. "Lieutenant," he nodded, "what do you have for me?"
Castillo shifted his own rifle to his back and pulled a hand phaser from his waist, "Standard issue Phaser sir", Charly responded quickly, handing the Captain his weapon.
Rojac looked it over briefly before holstering it on his own belt. "Well I hope I don't need it on the shuttle, but protocol is protocol." The Captain turned went up to the craft and entered the hatch, he quickly found Fisher and Collins double-checking hte medical supplies aboard. "Do you have everything you need, Doctor?"
"Yes Sir." Scott answered quickly glancing around at Rojac. " Just stowing the last things away." Collins asked: " Do we know the current situation with the away team ?"
"Well, I hope they've been able to stay out of sight. Or at least maintain most of their limbs." Rojac said, turning toward the front of the craft. He took a seat in the pilot's chair and quickly acquainted himself with the console's readouts. He was being sarcastic, a usual response; the away teams had been in communications silence.
Scott and Collins exchanged glances, completed the last of their work and filed forward to take their seats.
Rojac turned and saw Kroitzer busied at an auxiliary console. "Are we ready, Mr. Kroitzer?"
"Aye Sir, the last check is complete and all systems read green" the young CEO replied
Rojac smiled. "Jones, contact the bridge and get us clearance for launch. Castillo, seal the hatch." The Captain initiated the start sequence. "Seatbelts everyone."
The Lieutenant nodded, pressed the switch and watched as the door slowly closed. Once it was sealed he activated the locks and once he was completely sure everything was functioning correctly he took a seat and strapped himself in.
"Alright the bridge has given us the clear to launch signal." Ianto said looking over the communication logs while making sure everything was running smoothly and that they wouldn't have any bumps along the way.
"Initiating anti-grav systems." Rojac called. Outside the shuttle, the sirens sounded and all personnel left the vacuum area of the shuttle bay to clear the launch. The Serpent lifted off the ground, slowly and cautiously at first, but then deliberately more toward the center of the room. Cropa used small bursts fromt he RCS thrusters to position the nose of the shuttle toward the open blast doors. "Three, two, one." He counted down, and then pressed the command to lower the shuttle bay's exterior force field. The subsequent vacuum pulled the Serpent out into the nebula - to the safe impulse zone away from the ship.
"Engaging, impulse drive." Rojac said. "Proceeding on course 030 mark 276." He turned toward Jones. "Get long range sensors online. Kroizter, how is the stealth plating holding up?"
Gustav was concentrating on maintaining the harmonization of the plating so took a couple of seconds for the captains question to reach
him " Oh sorry sir, the plating is working well within parameters".
Ianto ran his fingers along the console pulling the long range sensor applications he then activated the sensors and started adjusting power flow to them. He wanted to make sure they had enough power so they wouldn't get surprised by anything.
Rojac nodded. "ETA in five minutes people. Hold on tight." Rojac accessed the communications systems and set-up a link with the Chimera. "Chimera this is the Serpent, we are proceeding on schedule. ETA in five minutes."
Walters opened a comm channel from Chimera's Bridge to the shuttle Serpent "We're about to start our run now. Wait till we have their attention then head on in at low power. Above all else obey the eleventh commandment...Thou shalt not get caught. We'll be signing off now, good luck Captain."
"Good luck, Major. Serpent out."

[USS Chimera] SD 240910.07 SB UNITY Duty Log : RAd Guzman / Cmdr Summers / Lt Mumacik
====== Main infirmary, SB 234: UNITY ======
Shane was informed about the improvement in LT. Mumacik's
health status this morning and after attending to other
important business, he headed now down into the infirmary to
see after his Chief of fleet level security. Having him back
on duty would be great, but knowing the doctors, Shane was
not sure if he could handle that. As CO and Admiral, Shane
could beat almost any orders and regulations on UNITY, but
he could not order a doctor to declare someone fit for duty
- the medical area was full under jurisdiction of UNITY's
CMO and her staff.
Followed by his two always-be-there guards, Shane walked
inside the spacious infirmary and made his way straight to
the biobed of LT. Mumacik. As usual, none dared to bare the
way or to ask about the Admiral's whereabouts. This time he
did not need to ask someone to fetch for the CMO as she was
already tending to Mumacik.
Rangi was reading the latest report on the lieutenant's
condition and was pleased with what it told her. Her
bodyguard, Lt. Holland, was as interested as she to see how
the Security chief was coming along but he sprang to
attention as the small group entered the room, an action
which caused Rangi to look over her shoulder towards the
door.
"Commander, Lieutenant" Shane said softly with a smile on
his lips. When Rangi turned around he added: "I am here to
see after LT. Mumacik. I've been informed that his medical
status improved dramatically over the last 48 hours"
"Admiral.." Rangi replied, returning the smile he gave and
using, as he did, the formal address of rank. She looked
back at her patient.
" He is doing remarkably well." she said and..." she leaned
forward a little just as Lt Mumacik
opened his eyes. "...he's awake." she stated. "Lieutenant
Mumacik. I am commander Summers, the CMO here. Do you know
where you are?"
Mumacik nodded and replied in almost the same tone as before
his injury: "Yes, Commander Summers. I am in the main
infirmary, Star base 234, UNITY"
"That's correct." Rangi said "...and you have a visitor. Can
you sit up?"
"Yes, Commander Summers" Like always, Mumacik was using full
rank and name when addressing someone. There were not many
who always did. It took his some effort to sit up, it was
clear that he could not attend an athletic challenge this
week ... Seeing Shane, he said: "Good day, Admiral Guzman"
It was Shane who spoke: "You've suffered under very short
time repetitive memory lapses just 2 days ago. May I ask if
you remember the events from the last 48 hours?"
"Yes, Admiral Guzman" Mumacik replied, "I've been told about
the memory lapses by the medical staff, but as far I can
remember none happened for more then 36 hours".
Shane turned to Rangi and asked: "It this condition going to
last or can we expect set-backs?"
"Difficult to say." she replied somewhat thoughtfully. "What
exactly caused them is still a bit of a mystery. I'm waiting
for a couple of test results but "....she looked back at
Mumacik, sitting silently on the edge of bed "...judging
from the progress over the last twenty four hours, then I'm
very optimistic that we have seen the last of it.
How are you feeling Lieutenant?" she asked
"I feel adequate to the circumstances, Commander Summers"
Mumacik replied.
"Do you feel up for taking up duty again?" Shane asked in a
somewhat jovial tone.
"No, Admiral Guzman" was the laconic answer.
Rangi glanced at Shane in time to see the expression of
slight amazement cross his face for he was surely expecting
a different answer.
That took Shane by surprise. He's seen many injured officers
and ALL of them were eager to return to duty and show the CO
what tough guys they are, but not so Mumacik. "How so?"
Shane asked.
"I can judge only on empiric experience, Admiral Guzman, but
logic dictates that I would not be able to fulfill the
physical requirements of a security officer"
With a sigh, Shane turned to Rangi and said: "I hoped to
have Mumacik back on duty today. When do you expect him BE
fit?"
"Well, as i said.." she replied "...there are some test
results to come back and it depends too on the lieutenants
overall fitness." She paused looking at her patient who
remained unmoving and silent then turned her attention to
Shane. "Perhaps in a couple of days." she said, not
committing herself.
"Make it tomorrow this time and we have a deal" he replied.
He knew he could not 'deal' with Rangi, but he tried to
haggle none-the-less. He NEEDED Mumacik and his
annoying-but-efficient leadership for security department.
" Deal?" she asked quietly looking almsot as surprised as he
had done only moments before.
Holland, standing near the end of the biobed, played the
usual role of immovable object except for his eyes which
looked from the Admiral to the CMO and back again.
"Hmm ... I am an Admiral" Shane played his best ace, "I
don't like hearing that something won't work as I expect"
Rangi gave a sweet smile. Holland had often seen such a
smile on his girlfriends face and didnt give the Admiral
much of a chance of winning this little showdown.
"Well he certainly wouldnt work as you would expect if I
release him too soon." There was a touch of amusement in her
voice as she spoke. " I'll make the decision all in good
time." she added pleasantly.
Shane waved with his hand defeated: "All right, all right,
was just an idea. You're the CMO and you have the say here."
He looked at Mumacik and back at Rangi: "I have to look
after some more things so I leave you with your patient. See
you in the evening." Looking towards Mumacik he said: "I'll
be here tomorrow again, Lieutenant. Be a good boy and tell
me then that you're fit for duty"
Shane didnt wait for a reply but, escorted by his guards,
left
his security chief to Rangis care.
"No pressure." Rangi said to Mumacik and gave him a smile
but he
merely looked at her blankly and obeyed without question
when she asked him to lie down again.

"How are you feeling?" T'Vel asked as they stepped inside her office. "Have you been performing the exercises I prescribed for you?"
"That is good," T'Vel responded. "Have you had any success in blocking out unwanted thoughts from others?"
"Let us begin," T'Vel said as she sat down with Jade and they began to prepare themselves for the mind-meld.

As for Charlie, Ixus promises more action this week. So keep your eyes peeled.
Good log count - higher than our average - and good quality logs this week. You make me proud. Once we get this plot out of the way we can do promos and awards... count that as incentive.

Alpha - Bren
None submitted.Beta - Rojac
Lt Kroizter inspects the massive damage at the port impulse drive and begins picking up the pieces with his team. Crotez and Elbrums are caught in a fire fight at the detonation site. Cortez is hit, and prepares to press the switch. Meanwhile, the crippled Chimera is saved by Xerxes' squadrond in the nebula and dispatches the two scouts that tailed her. Rojac leaves the Bridge to order a commuication line with the Eagle. In his Ready Room, Rojac discovers the grim fate of the USS Eagle's crew and activates the remote detonation sequence. And emergency senior staff meeting was called, and the Captain split the senior crew into two teams: one to conduct a long-range assault from the ship headed by the XO, the other to take a shuttle to rescue the Away Teams.
Charlie - Ixus
Preparing for a log blowout next week perhaps?
Unity - Rangi
The intruders to Rangi and Shanes quarters turned out to oneof Alectos bodyguards and a woman intent on leaving poison
in the rooms. Security took them both to the Brigg.
Shaken by the incident, Rangi went to Shanes office and told
him about it. He was angry that such a thing could have
happened and immediately ordered a thorough security
clampdown.
At Rangis request, he contacted Martins preschool class to
check that the little boy was alright which he was. Shane
informed the teacher that a security team would be placed
there too. Not long after leaving Shane, Rangi learned that
she too was have a body guard.
She went to visit the school and explained to mrs Woods the
reason why security was needed.
Trent was trying to stay awake during a meeting with the
Unity Prominade Business Association whose members wanted
reassurance that a repeat of the cargo bay bomb wasnt going
to happen.Despite Trents best efforts, they were not happy
and he was pleased to be interrupted by a call from security
which gave him an opportunity to excuse himself. He learned
that he too had been a potential victim.

- Quotes of the Week (by Ixus)
-------------------------
Everything he'd gone through, all the training all
the blood sweat and tears, everything had prepared him for this very
moment. Pulling his hand up in front of him he opened it to reveal
the detonator still locked in his grip. Flipping open the plastic
casing over the button he counted from three.
Major Richard 'Da Bomb' Cortez

Stalkers can be a real pain
The resultant explosion sent a vast shockwave into the aft
sections of the two scoutships, blasting them off their pursuit course
of the Chimera. "They won't be bothering us for a while sir, they're
retreating, for now."
Commander Mike 'Restraining Order' Levison
********************
Apparently their cleaner was visiting Unity...
Rojac turned to the screen along the wall behind him and ordered the
computer to display a stilled image of the Eagle's last transmission
with the Chimera. Ash filled uniforms lay crumbled throughout the
interior of the undamaged room with blinking consoles and warnings.
Captain Cropa 'Grimebusters' Rojac
********************
Just wait till you have to change him!
He knew his duty, and he would do it. If the Colonel said to babysit
the General, by by gods he'd babysit the General.

- Subject Lines
-------------------------
Please remember to use the following format for your subject lines:
SD 24YYMM.DD, Duty/Personal Log, Rank Name
e.g., SD 240502.01, CO's Log, Capt Rojac
e.g., SD 240502.01, Personal Log, Cropa Rojac
The [USS Chimera] part of the subject is placed automatically by the listserv, so you don't need to include it.
Also remember to include your details at the end of your log
e.g.,
Captain Cropa Rojac
Commanding Officer
USS Chimera NX 96899-B
-------------------------
- Logging Guidelines
-------------------------
Logging:
The weekly logging deadline is at Midnight (12:00AM/00:00) GMT/UTC (19:00 EST); all logs received after the deadline will be counted for the following week. If you are pressed for time and would like a log to count for the previous week, but it is sent after the deadline, please send an email to the command team when you send the log so that we can make the corrections.
Please remember that all MAJOR plot changes need to be cleared with the command staff before a log goes through! You can do this by sending the command staff (chimera-command@ucip.org ) a log labeled with "Draft" tagged to the subject line. We'll typically let you know if it's approved within 24 to 48 hours, or tell you what might need to be modified before it's sent to the listserv.
When using other characters in your logs, please keep in mind that person's characteristics. Character information can be found on the UCIP website or the USS Chimera website (under CREW - just click on the Star Trek symbol next to the character's name). If you're still unsure how to interact with a character, then privately mail the person
involved, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help.
Conversely, if you feel that your character is being portrayed incorrectly by someone please contact them to try to work out an agreeable solution. Just keep in mind when logging to treat other characters the way you'd like them to treat you - with the respect due to any member of Starfleet who is a specialist in their field.
If you think your log may be going out of bounds, then please ask! If you are having problems finding things to write about or would just like some help with your log, please contact your department head or the command team. Remember, you don't always have to log about things relating to the main plot - logs that develop your character's
personality are encouraged! We're eager to help if you're having trouble; just email the command team (chimera-command@ucip.org).
