[USS Chimera] SD 340912.31 Joint Personal Log, Cpt Trent Rodgers and Cdr Rangi Summers
=Starbase UNITY=
As his eyes slowly opened, Trent attempted to adjust to the
light. He heard people speaking in the background, but he
didn't understand what they were saying. As he
finally gained focus, a blonde woman appeared above him.
"Sarah?" he managed to say, looking a bit puzzled.
"Yes, sweetheart, it's me," his wife replied.
Memories of recent events were coming back to him.
"Hoack!" he muttered angrily as he tried to sit up, but
found that it sapped every bit of energy he had in him.
"Just relax," she said. "It's going to be a couple of more
days before you regain your strength."
He tried again, but finally gave up on the effort. He took a
couple of deep breaths before looking back at Sarah.
"How long?" he still sounded a little hoarse.
"Almost a week," she replied. "You were poisoned.
Thankfully, Doctor Summers was familiar with the poison
and able to come up with an antidote. If it wasn't
for her, you'd likely be dead by now."
Sarah looked off to the side, "Speaking of Doctor
Summers..."
Trent saw someone else approach as he tried to clear his
head.
"Good morning." Rangi smiled to Sarah as she spoke seeing
clearly the strain on the young womans face that told of her
worries and concerns.
Rangi transferred her gaze to Trent. " Its good to see you
awake again." she said to him.
"It's good to be awake," Trent said. "My wife tells me that
you are the reason for that."
"Not entirely" Rangi replied. "Fortunately we knew the
poison so were able to deal with it.Luckily we got you here
very quickly."
"Well, anyhow. Thanks all the same," Trent said as he again
tried to sit up.
" Hey...steady." Rangi warned, holding out her hand palm
outward at the same moment that sarah tried to prevent trent
moving.He sank back.
"Anyhow, when will I be able to get out of here?" Trent
said. "Not that I enjoy my time in sickbay, which I usually
don't, but I'd perfer to be ... well, you know ... somewhere
else."
" Another day or two." Rangi answered with the noncommital
responce that such questions usually gained.
"Well, being married to a doctor, I've learned long ago not
to argue with them. All the same though, the sooner you can
get me out of here, the better," Trent said.
" A wise man." Rangi said and she and Sarah exchanged a
knowing glance.
Trent again tried to pull himself up. He found that during
this attempt, he had a bit more energy and managed to sit up
a bit.
"By the way, how is MaiKai and the baby?" Trent asked.
"They're both doing very well. They're at home now...with
Rick."
"Well, thanks again Doc," Trent said.
"My pleasure...just take note of medical advice and you'll
be out all the faster." she replied and with a nother smile
at them both, Rangi turned and left them alone.
Trent and Sarah watched as Doctor Summers walked away.
"How long have you been here?" Trent asked.
"I came in a couple of days after Mai gave birth. I came in
to help her, but then this happened. My God, Trent, why
didn't you tell me?"
"Tell you what?"
"Don't act ignorant with me," she said. "You know
what I'm talking about."
Trent shook his head, "I didn't want to worry
you."
"So, I have to find out that the praetor has a death warrant
on your head from some stranger in security. Damn it, Trent.
You should ha ve told me."
"I know."
"Really. Could have fooled me. And don't give me this 'I was
only trying to protect you crap," Sarah said.
"I know. Your right."
Sarah gave Trent a strange look.
"Look, I just don't feel like arguing with you now," Trent
explained then grinned. "Maybe later."
She just shook her head.
"Well, since your not in the arguing mood, then maybe
you won't want to argue about this. Me and the children
are moving out here. I've already informed Starfleet
Medical of my decision."
"No way. You know how I feel about you and the kids being
out here so close to Romulan space."
"I don't care. If this starbase is good enough for Ricky,
Mai and their children, then it's good enough for us. Besides,
Annie misses her daddy."
"Well, I miss her to. And Gregory. Did you bring them?"
Sarah shook her head, "I left them with my parents in
Australi a."
"When did Ricky make it back?"
"He returned a cou ple of days ago. The only reason
he isn't here now is because he's working. But he'll stop by
once he's off. He's been worried sick. Just as I have."
"I'm fine now. At least I will be."
"Good, because Admiral Guzman has issued you a small
security detail."
Trent just nodded and something caught his eye on the
small monitor off to his left. It was a news broadcast.
"Turn the volume up," Trent said to Sarah as he pulled
himself into a full sitting position.
On the screen was devastation and destruction in San
Francisco. People were running about in a chaotic scene.
"My God," Trent muttered as his investigative instincts
kicked in. "I need to get in contact with Major Han. She'll
know what's going on."
"I need to call my parents," Sarah was worried. "I know
the children are a half a world away, but still ..."
"Go."
She leaned down and kissed Trent before walking away.

[USS Chimera] SD240912.30 | 4-Way Log COps, CEO, CHelm, ASec | MCapt Reese, Lt Dior, Lt Kroitzer, 1lt Castillo | "Battle Simulations"
Jade walked into the holosuite that was designated for her and her
team later that she had recieved detailed information on what the
simulation was going to be like. She was going to be commanding a
Steamrunner class a heavy frigate the class that Jade preferred fast
and maneuverable. With it's 3 Type X Phaser Emitters able to fire in a
720 degree firing arc and then it's 2 Type II Photon Torpedoes
launchers with a 250 torpedo inventory and they've added depth charges
to the arsenal as will.
According to the layout of the simulation SF wants to see how
effective a Frigate class is against a larger class ship and seeing if
adding a older style of weapon helps it or hinders it. "Morning." Jade
said walking to the Captains chair, "Jones I want you at tactical."
Jade said needing someone she knew that could handle that station.
"Aye ma'am." Ianto (NPC) said walking over to the tactical station and
familiarizing himself with it as Jade waited for the rest of her crew
to arrive she looked over the ship they were going up against a Norway
Class a Medium Cruiser, "this is going to be interesting." Jade said
to herself as two more familiar faces showed up it was Lt Kroitzer and
Lt Dior (NPC). "Morning you two." Jade said smiling as she looked at
her list and seeing that they were also on her team.
"Captain." Dior nodded and snapped a quick salute as she briskly
walked over toward the helm station at the front of the bridge. She
cracked her knuckles above the console like a concert pianist a she
settled back into her seat and read through the schematics and
diagnostics. "Well, she's not as advanced as what I'm used to, but at
least with this digital model the scratches won't come out of my
paycheck."
"Morning Captain " Kroitzer said while making his way to the
engineering console pulling up the relevant info on the displays in
front of him thinking that everything was just to perfect in
simulations, he understood the need for them but just didn't much like them.
"Alright everyone ready." Jade said continuing of thinking of how they
could be this Norway class ship with these new weapons.
LtCmdr S'Hran (NPC) an Andorian male entered the holosuite and as Jade
did he went and took a seat in the Captains chair the simulation was
already stacked seeing how S'Hran is in command of a Norway class
already and has his bridge crew plus two new comers. The Norway class
has 3 more Type X Phaser emitters then the Steamrunner but the the
extra weapons made the Norway class heavier then the Steamrunner.
Castillo, feeling exhausted from the night before, grudgingly stepped
inside. He purposely looked away from everyone trying to hide the
large red mark on his forehead from where his own boot had hit him the
night before. Sitting down at the tactical seat he strapped himself
in, glanced at the controls and wondered who the man sitting in the
captain's chair was. "So who's stupid idea was this anyways", he said
aloud, to nobody in-particular.
The Andorian Captain turned around in his chair to face the 1Lt, "do
you not think it's a good idea for SF to not train their officers in
simulations to get them prepared for battle?" The Andorian said
looking like he would hit the 1Lt if he said something similar to
"whose stupid idea was this?"
Charly rolled his eyes, "Calm down cupcake, don't get your antlers in
a knot", he said punching a few commands into the screen in front of
him and smirking to himself.
"It would do you well to mind your manners." The tellarite a science
snorted at Castillo. "It may be a simulation, but you can still be
cited for insubordination. Twit."
The tellarite pulled at his teal collar and snorted as his read-out
screens came to life as the simulation began. He tapped a few commands
on his screen before reporting in. "Primary sensors pick-up a contact
at bearing 720 mark 051. Distance at 804 megameters." He focused the
sensor resolution on the contact for a more detailed reading. "I'm
picking up a duranium hull, deflector shields and impulse exhaust.
Readings consistent with a steamrunner class ship."
"Transferring primary sensors to tactical." The tellarite said with a
glare to the smug First Lieutenant manning the guns.
"Tactical has the sensors", Castillo confirmed, "Tell me, how long you
been growing that beard?", he said glancing back at the Tellarite. "I
know a great barber that could trim that thing, maybe add some
conditioner to bring out the body a bit..."
The Tellarite snarled.
"They're taking an intercept course, Captain." Dior reported. She
reached over and slapped a command on the navigation console bringing
up a tactical display of the two ships projected courses. "They will
be at weapons range in t-minus thirty-four seconds."
"Aye aye." Dior replied, and swung the steamrunner hard to port,
cutting the parallel course to the other ship. She glanced back to her
console. "They took the bait." She called back.
in speed, he was just about to tell the Captain when he noticed a build up of power
"Ma'am enemy ship is increasing speed and charging weapons!"
"Fire." S'Hran said as he kept an eye on the view screen and the fleeing Streamrunner.
"I'm detecting shrapnel." The tellarite snorted. "No wait. Residual
traces of--- It's an explosive de--"
The artificial bridge shuttered against the blast of the artificial
depth charge, but what should have been a minor tremor turned to be
much more so. First, the power to the holosuite was cut, reducing the
room to pitch black darkness. The holographic photons dissipated and
They groaned in darkness until another explosion rocked the small room
and the wall split open, belching hot fire and flame.
holding him in he would have surely been blown off. Dazed he quickly
unstrapped himself and turned around. Rubbing his eyes from the
burning smoke he stepped towards the Tellarite officer who was now
laying on the floor. Kneeling beside him he turned him onto his back
to check to see if he was still alive.
Rayna felt the hard surface of floor against her face as she laid face
down on the holosuite floor. The working empathic part of her empathic
brain picked up constant movement - a common side effect of panic,
which she could readily agree with considering the conditions.
She carefully stood up and surveyed the scene. There was a large gash
in the wall from which a ale orange light came in from the burning
halls beyond. She could here screams outside the room. She wanted to
help, but her initial attention was drawn to the figure lying
face-down behind her. Rayna rushed over to Marine Captain Reese and
checked her vitals.
"Captain Reese?" She asked hurriedly. "Are you okay?"

[USS Chimera] SD: 240912.31 || Duty Log || Maj. Anya Xerxes || The Reapers Are Born - Part 2 ||
---------------
Start Log
---------------
"Seven Years. Has it really been that long?" Anya said out loud
looking at the padd in her hands as she started the briefing.
"Seven years since what?" Lancer Squadron's XO, 1Lt. David Lanner asked.
"Seven Years since events were put into motion a war which nearly
destroyed the Erassian Alliance and created a death toll of over
Thirty Million people on the Alliance's side alone. It was years of
slaughter and genocide rained upon us." Anya replied.
Erassian Captain Joe Reynalds, Windhover Squadron's CO and the now
Deputy Wing CO chimed in, saying in a dark tone. "The Solrin
War...Are we to presume by this dredging up of the past for us
Erassians and history lesson for the Feds that this has some relevance
to bear on current events in which we are participating?"
"You are." Anya confirmed in an equally serious tone. "As no doubt
probably all of you are aware, we're not just out here to destroy
pirate bases. We have been tasked with the elimination of a dangerous
war criminal. We have been tasked with eliminating a target who for
security reasons has not been disclosed to either you or the crew of
the USS Jackal until today. Our target is responsible for many high
profile events which took place both during and in the run up to the
Solrin War. Our target is the greatest traitor in Alliance history,
Colonel Vernier."
There was an outbreak of noise amongst the pilots mainly the Erassian
ones whist the Federation pilots seemed a bit bemused by the tone of
the whole thing. Captain Reynalds was in no doubt one of the
astounded Erassian pilots. "That bastard is still alive? The Omega
Bomb didn't kill him? Do you have proof that we're not being sent on
a ghost chase?"
"At the Battle of Charos VI he was recorded organising the suicide
bombers on the USS McCoy and in the act of executing the McCoy's XO,
Commander Harbijan Singh. It's taken almost a year since that event
to put together an decent lead to track this prick down and as they
cant afford to squander this lead, they decided to send the people
least likely to screw up catching and killing him...us. Make no
mistake people we are going to live up to our new name. The last face
Colonel Vernier will see will be that of the Reaper." Anya said
defiantly.
"What are our Rules of Engagement ?" David Lanner asked.
"Shoot on sight. If you get fired upon destroy the enemy without
hesitation and by any means necessary. Long story short anything goes.
I don't need to tell you how big this is for us to receive that
leeway. Alright people suit up the tactical details for the next
target are being forwarded to your fighters. Get ready because this
one ain't going to be easy." Anya finished.

[San Francisco Transit Station - Starfleet Headquarters]
Rojac saw the shuttle lower in on a landing trajectory. He tapped his combadge to hail them, but was met only with static. He tried to wave them down, but the craft seemed unaware of his presence and settled down three-quarters of a kilometer north of his position. He started heading in that direction, weaving his way through the littany of smoldering debris and bodies. Then he saw the bolts of phaser fire erupting from the tail-end of the shuttle.
Instinct kicked in from his days of security training at the academy.
He ducked behind the nearest obstacle, a hover-car tossed on its side, and searched for his sidearm on his hip. Of course it wasn't there. It had been removed for the conference proceedings and the meeting with Vice Admiral Jefferson as a security precatution. H eunderstood why he was unarmed for those meetings, but still he cursed them all the same.
He peeked over the edge and saw men in Starfleet uniforms jump out of the shuttle and scan the debris-field with the tips of their rifles.
He counted six, and they advance in pairs into the debris as the shuttle took off into the sky once more. He didn't know who they were, but they needed to be stopped. He carefully watched the pair closest to them and drew up a trajectory in his mind of where they were headed. Then he plotted an intercept course that would minimize his visibilty to them. If his plan were to succeed he would need the element of surprise.
=/\=
Richard had been inside the remains of the transit station when the Starfleet people had arrived in the shuttles. He'd been glad to see them, that was, until they started executing survivors. He managed to sneak into what had been a security outpost point for the transit station, and found a weapons locker. He'd lost his helpers when the shooting had started, and wasn't pleased about that. Pulling out the hand phaser, and slipping it into his waistband, he grabbed the rifle.
=/\=
"Time check." The man in front said. He wore his blonde hair close-cropped in an old military style and an orange accent to his uniform.
"Three minutes and fifteen seconds." The human of african descent responded. "We should head to the rendezvous point."
"Just a second." The blonde man said. "I see a group of targets up ahead. We have time."
The second man grinned. "Lets go."
Blondie returned the grin and turned to head off. The second man started to follow, but his vision had suddenly gone blurry and his knees started to give out.
The dark-skinned human in the red collared uniform fell face first into the asphalt with a sickening crunch. Rojac dropped the car fender to the ground and jump rolled after the dropped phaser rifle, pulling it up to a bead on blondie and firing a quick three-shot burst into his back. He fell to the ground with a thud. Rojac quickly patted down both men and found no further means of identification. He pulled some wires from the control unit of one of the crashed automobiles and bound the hands and feet of the first man. The brutal swing from the car fender had only knocked the man unconscious; Rojac would come back for questioning.
After he was done with his work he tried to find his next targets, but instead he found a familiar figure approaching his position.
Richard was in a crouch as he made his way over to Rojac. "Good to see you alive, Captain." He said.
"Likewise General." Rojac replied, lowering his rifle. "Any idea what the hell just happened?" He asked. "I've been trying to get someone on the communicator, but something is blocking the transmissions."
"Educated guess here." Richard replied carefully. "But an explosive device was set off on the tarmac, which ignited the parked shuttles, causing a cascade effect of the warp cores exploding or the dilithium tanks. Either way, it took out the entire transit station. Then, presumably, the people behind this, decided to massacre the survivors and/or any rescuers."
"Close but not entirely right." Came the gravelly voice of Major Scott Walters from behind them probably startling both of them. Scott was a big guy but he could move extremely quietly when needed. "Since the late 2370's all major transit stations on Earth have been outfitted with additional sensors to detect explosives although it's not widely known. It's more likely they remote hacked or pre programmed the warp core to explode."
Rojac brought a hand to his beard and scratched. "Then whoever did this has an extensive knowledge of Starfleet systems." He glanced back to the unconscious form of the african Lieutenant in the red-collared uniform. "Which makes me think these saboteurs aren't impostors."
"We need to get in contact with Command." Rojac continued. "And we need to take down these terrorists." He looked across the rubble laden landscape and the pillars of acrid smoke that lowly snaked toward the bright blue sky. "General, you should stay out of danger as much as possible, as ranking officer. I think you should try to establish contact. Walters and I will take down the terrorists."
Richard narrowed his eyes at Rojac. "You're probably right, but I'll never admit to needing to hide behind your skirts." He said. "In any case, we need a plan of action. I'll try to regain communication with Starfleet, and co-ordinate the recovery and protection of the survivors." He said. "You two, I want you to hijack that shuttle that Blondie and muppet here were using, and go after our 'friends'. You're to maintain radio silence at all costs, unless the very survival of the Federation is at stake."
Rojac nodded. "Aye sir." He bent over and picked up blondie's rifle and tossed it to Walters. "Then we better get going." The Captain pointed to a small silvery glimmer in the sky, "Looks like the shuttle's back in-bound." He smirked. "Let's move."

[USS Chimera] SD 240912.23 || SB Unity. Personal Log || (Part 3) Major Cortez / Commander Summers
(OOC, this was supposed to go out last week, but in my haste to send
it out I accidentally only sent it to one person instead of the entire
chimera list. Sorry for the holdup for all those who were waiting
with baited breath for the final installment of this 3 part
miniseries.)

Rangi stood up too. "You wont be back on the front line until I say
so." she said to Cortez' retreating back. " And you can get second
information to stew over in your little cubby hole of an office or you
can talk to me....your decision."
"Peaked your interest have I?", Richard said turning back around with
a smirk. "I see little reason to continue this when you already have
my opinion. Of course we both know you wont do what you have to do".
" You don't know all the facts." Rangi replied quietly standing where
she was. "..... but we both know that Georgia Pegg Inst going to die
at our hands." She waited for a reply but when he didn't answer asked
:
" Are you staying or not because I want some lunch and then I have
work to do...its up to you." She gave a short shrug and turned away in
essence ignoring him as she moved towards the replicator.
"I'll take a whiskey", he said as she pressed the replicator controls.
"So what are these facts that I'm not aware of", he said stepping
back towards the couch.
Rangi ordered another sandwich for herself and the drink for Cortez
and didn't answer until she had handed him the small glass and seated
herself opposite to him.
" The outbreak of this...whatever it is....isn't the only one that I'm
aware of." she stated and began to tell him of the first instance and
the rescued hostages from the Breen freighter. She explained how all
of them had died including the child and how later three crew men on
two ships had also developed the same symptoms.
" They had worked in the research center." she said "....under
strictest quarantine regulations of course but somehow...unless you
believe in coincidences....somehow they were infected by the illness.
The good thing is that none of them died. They were mildly unwell for
a few days but then recovered fully."
Richard sat back down on the sofa and sipped at his drink as he
listened intently to what Rangi was saying. "Hmm", he said taking
another sip. "Maybe its nothing then", he said leaning back. "Do you
still have the names and locations of all the people that were
infected and then recovered?", he asked. "Are you performing follow
ups?"
" Oh yes." she said. " I've kept an eye on them. That's not all
though..." she added. " That was just the beginning....."
She told him of the separate incidents on Alpha Leonis and Aurelia
Prime where a few farmers had also been unwell. Again there were no
deaths and all seemed to regain perfect health. The ships had not
visited there and so it could have been just a coincidence.
" I don't like coincidences." she said watching him watching her." An
interesting point was that the harvest on both those planets suffered
badly from a form of stem rust. That's airborne and long ago it was
developed as a bio weapon...20th century toy." She sipped from her
glass the said: " Incidentally to that was the Ferengi upset....you
might recall they accused a supplier of selling them substandard
mead?...it was on the news. That came from one of the planets."
Cortez swallowed the last bit of his drink and placed the glass on the
table in front of him. "Strange", he said contemplating the idea of a
biological weapon. "And you've reported all this to Guzman?", he
asked, seeing her nod he continued, "And of course he hasn't acted",
he shook his head, "Typical", he shook his head, "The brass never act
till the danger is staring at em with a knife". He paused for a
second, "Would you be so kind as to forward a copy of all the
infected to my little cubby hole?".
" Yes, I can do that." she agreed. " As for action or lack of it....I
wanted to quarantine Aeran when the first outbreak was reported. You
know they didn't tell us? It was in a mining colony in the
north...inhospitable place. Apparently the miners there suffered a
mild illness but nothing that warranted a medical visit....we only
found out about when there was an accident and doctor attended the
victim and noticed by chance that some of them had what he thought
were tattoos." She sighed and shook her head slightly. " The chief
administrator was not at all keen to have quarantine in place...it
comes down to financial reasoning...which is understandable in the
present climate I suppose." she said. "Shane had to agree
but...well...because there's no concrete evidence at all that these
events have any connection his hands were tied."
"But how did the waitress get sick", Richard responded after taking a
few seconds to digest the information. "She shouldn't be in the
equation at all", he added. "Have you been able to make any headway
into figuring out whats wrong with her?", he asked.
" She's like the others...she felt mildly unwell on returning from a
long trip. That's not unusual and she got over it...she didn't need a
doctor, just self medicated. She went to the hospital to ask what was
causing the skin discoloration. I slapped her in an isolation room and
I'm going to keep her there for as long as i am legally allowed
to.We're doing tests...so far inconclusive"
She gave a faint smile. " Do you believe in coincidences? is that what
this is? That's why I wanted your opinion. Are they linked? if so,
how? what am I missing?"
"This isn't a coincidence", Richard responded, "I would suggest an
immediate retracing of her steps, everyone she came in contact with
before and after she fell ill, background checks ran on them all...it
will be hard considering her occupation but it should be possible with
the amount of cameras and security measures we have here", he leaned
forward, "if someone purposely poisoned her we'll figure out who", he
paused briefly, "Of course if you want my help you'll have to clear
me for active duty and convince Guzman to give me the authority to
conduct the investigation", he smiled.
Rangi laughed. " You don't give up do you?" she asked through a smile
but it wasn't long lasting. " Ive begun a tracking on her.Luckily she
hadn't had time to resume work so it was just the shuttle she came in
on...her previous destinations....her room mates and ohhh...about a
hundred and fifty people she might have passed on the promenade, not
to mention the transit areas at both ends." She looked at him. " I'll
speak to the Admiral...simply because ..." She stopped, holding back
her words. " Ill speak to him." she repeated.
"I never give up", Richard said standing up once again. "Well then
I'll let you get back to your work, in the meantime I'll try and dig
up anything else I can about what happened on Aeran 3". He nodded and
began stepping towards the exit. "If we're right about this", he said
stopping halfway and turning back around, "We won't have much time
before...well.....we better hurry", he added.
She had left her seat too and followed him as far as her desk. " I'll
forward you all the details...it will take you a while to get through
it all but you might find something I've missed. I hope so." she
added.
Cortez nodded then stepped through the door and out of Rangi's office.

- Summaries (by Rangi)
-------------------------
Trent returned to his quarters and found Hoack there along with two Nausicaans. It was Denaria who came to his rescue and realised that she had been assigned as his body guard. He was taken to hospital with a stab wound.
Captain Rojac , General Sharpe and Major Walters were caught in the explosion that ripped through the transit Station in San Francisco but it was Walters who witnessed an armed team open fire on the survivors.
Scott Fisher was waiting for Mercedes outside the Conference Centre on Vulcan when a massive explosion reduced it to rubble.
Both these events were reported on the GNN xchannel and Richard Cortez hot footed it to Rangis office and demanded to be returned to active duty. She refused on the grounds he was not fit enough but sort his opinion on the series of coincidences, explaining the 'wire demon' effect on the victims and ending with the woman held in quarantine.

e.g., SD 240502.01, CO's Log, Capt Rojac
e.g., SD 240502.01, Personal Log, Cropa Rojac
The [USS Chimera] part of the subject is placed automatically by the listserv, so you don't need to include it.
Also remember to include your details at the end of your log
e.g.,

USS Chimera NX 96899-C
-------------------------
- Logging Guidelines
-------------------------
Logging:
The weekly logging deadline is at Midnight (12:00AM/00:00) GMT/UTC (19:00 EST); all logs received after the deadline will be counted for the following week. If you are pressed for time and would like a log to count for the previous week, but it is sent after the deadline, please send an email to the command team when you send the log so that we can make the corrections.
Please remember that all MAJOR plot changes need to be cleared with the command staff before a log goes through! You can do this by sending the command staff (chimera-command@ucip.org ) a log labeled with "Draft" tagged to the subject line. We'll typically let you know if it's approved within 24 to 48 hours, or tell you what might need to be modified before it's sent to the listserv.
When using other characters in your logs, please keep in mind that person's characteristics. Character information can be found on the UCIP website or the USS Chimera website (under CREW - just click on the Star Trek symbol next to the character's name). If you're still unsure how to interact with a character, then privately mail the person
involved, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help.
Conversely, if you feel that your character is being portrayed incorrectly by someone please contact them to try to work out an agreeable solution. Just keep in mind when logging to treat other characters the way you'd like them to treat you - with the respect due to any member of Starfleet who is a specialist in their field.
If you think your log may be going out of bounds, then please ask! If you are having problems finding things to write about or would just like some help with your log, please contact your department head or the command team. Remember, you don't always have to log about things relating to the main plot - logs that develop your character's
personality are encouraged! We're eager to help if you're having trouble; just email the command team (chimera-command@ucip.org).

- Removals/Resignations
-------------------------
The following crew have either resigned or have been dropped due to lack of activity. If they would like a position on the USS Chimera, they will need to reapply.

[USS Chimera] SD: 340912.27 Joint Personal Log Cdr.Rick Rodgers & LtCdr.MaiKai Rodgers
=Rick and MaiKai's Quarters=
=Starbase UNITY=
Rick arrived at UNITY around midnight. It had been four days since he had received word from his brother concerning Mai going into labor. He didn't know anything other than that. On his way to UNITY, the vulcan ship he was on was under a communications blackout. Perhaps because of its connection to Project Los Alamos. He didn't inquire any further. Then the freighter he had transferred to inbound to UNITY was also under a general communications blackout. They explained it had become necessary to prevent raids. Only official communiques were permitted.
So, when Rick arrived on UNITY, he knew nothing more than he had when he known when he departed the Columbia system. When he arrived at UNITY. he decided first to drop off his small carry-on bag in his quarters before paying sickbay a late night visit. When he arrived home, he saw a figure he couldn't make out sleeping on the couch. He guessed that it was Rachel's babysitter, though he wasn't for certain.
He then went on quietly to Rachel's room and saw the child sound asleep. He watched for a moment while she slept, not realizing now just how much he missed her. He leaned over her bed and gave her a gentle kiss on the side of her forehead before leaving.
Rick then made his way to his and Mai's bedroom intending just to drop off his bag before going to sickbay. Instead, a bit to his surprise, he saw Mai asleep in the bed and the crib already set up next to the bed. He walked over to the crib and saw, for the very first time, his newborn child – fast asleep. He allowed himself to smile. He was just so damn adorable.
The baby was wearing a little blue outfit, so that meant it was a boy ... right? Rick wasn't certain. He and Mai had decided to keep the baby's gender a secret until after it was born. As Rick looked at the baby, he was amazed that this was his child. He reached down and gently touched the baby's hand. The hand was so little, almost as small as Rick's thumb. As he did this, he looked back over to the bed and noticed that Mai was looking at him.
Mai smiled at the image of her loving husband seeing their baby for their first time. It was even the first baby they had together since they had adopted Rachel. She shook her head and chuckled to herself before saying, "You owe me big time, mister".
