Anya was sitting in her office sorting out some last minute arrangements for her department before turning it over to her XO First Lieutenant David Lanner.  She was busy sorting through a pile of paperwork when there was a chime from the door.  "Come"

Gustav stepped through the door and approached the seated marine captain.

Anya looked up at the young engineer.  "Ah what can I do you for Leftenant?  I suppose I should also say congratulations for your acting promotion to Chief Engineering Officer."

"Thank you captain" he replied, adding "I'm here to talk to you about the propulsion system you wanted me me to work on for the new missile your developing".

"That's good news Leftenant, I take it you've narrowed down the number of options to a viable few and have come to ask which one I think most viable.  I won't deny we've been a whole lotta short of good news recently.  So what have you got for me?"  Anya asked looking forward to the answers the promising young engineer was going to give her.

"I have two options for you that would work the first is a very small impulse engine, very maneuverable but a little slow, the second  is my favorite as it is hardest to do, it consists of a mini warp engine, goes so fast it won't need maneuverability" the newly appointed CEO said putting extra enthusiasm on the idea of the warp engine.

Anya considered for a moment "Both options are good Leftenant although I will need to see specs on both.  As with your enthusiasm for flash missiles, that's what we call warp capable missiles over the border in the Alliance, they are extremely useful but they can be highly problematic in that they aren't maneuverable in the least and given that we want to fire from at least five light seconds out..."

Gustav handed a PADD to Anya with the specs to both propulsion systems, he waited a moment for the fighter jock to look over the specs before saying "as you can see about the flash missiles, they are warp five capable so maneuverability shouldn't be a factor".

"Impressive Leftenant I want six dozen of each type completed withing the month and I must warn you I'm not the forgiving type for missed deadlines."  Anya said with an evil smile.

[USS Chimera] SD 240904.16. SB Unity. Personal Log: Cmdr. Summers / Martin Guzman

*** Cabin * Romulan shuttle * Origin / whereabouts

Rangi stood in the centre of the small room looking this way
and that hoping against hope to see something useful.
Only one small ventilation grill set beneath the ceiling in
one corner broke the smooth bare walls. It was too high to
reach, even if she stood on the bed which was itself secured
into the floor.
The replicator was not the standard design she was used to
and was a merely a small niche which activated when someone
stood close to it.
The ensuite toilet had nothing that she could dislodge. There
was no mirror, the water and airdrier were also proximity
sensored.
There were no taps or handles anywhere, the whole place was
a design of perfect streamlined efficiency and held nothing
that she could use as even a very basic weapon.

With an inward sigh, Rangi looked at the sleeping child,
leaning down to pull the cover over him more fully.
His face was slightly flushed by sleep. He lay one his side,
a hand close to his face on the pillow and despite her
worries, Rangis expression showed a second of amusement as
she looked at the curled fingers, the parted lips and the
little chin, all of which were stained pale purple.

*

In an effort to keep things as light and normal as she could
and even though she didnt feel the least bit hungry, she had
suggested to Martin that they have something to eat.
The replicator showed activity when she stood next to it by
a dull green light and a disembodied voice telling her to
'state her preference'

"What would you like?" Rangi asked turning her head to
Martin. He shrugged.
"Spagetti?" she suggested knowing it was a favourite. He
nodded and moved closer to watch and eventually take his
plate.
" Spaghetti with tomato sauces." Rangi said.

The green light became stronger and a portion of the
requested food appeared before them. Martin reached up to
take it but Rangi exclaimed:" Oh!" for the pale spaghetti
lay in a pool of tomato sauce which began gently oozing its
way towards the edge of the replicator.
" Recycle!" Rangi said and glancing at Martin raised her
eyebrows and said " No plate."

Thinking it a malfunction she requested the food again. Once
more the light shone brightly and once again the perfectly
cooked meal appeared as before, minus a plate.
"Recycle!" Rangi repeated, frowning as the food disappeared.

Assuming then that the replicator needed detailed
instruction she made a third attempt and specified "...on a
plate with a fork."
This time no food appeared and the voice said. "Request
denied.Unable to provide cutlery or crockery."

"We didnt ask for them." Martin said, sounding puzzled and
Rangi explained that cutlery and crockery were cups and
saucers, knives and forks but as she said the word 'knives'
, she understood why the replicator would not provide them.
Such things could be used as a weapon, knives, broken glass
or plate.

"We need a food that doesnt need a plate then." she said
"..something we can eat with our fingers."

She only had seconds to recognise the mischievious
expression that appeared on the little boys face before he
jumped up and ordered " Jelly!"

His movement had been sufficiently close for the replicator
to register his choice and a red quivering jelly
materialised. Martin, ready to try it, stretched out an
eager hand but Rangi caught hold of it.
" I ..dont.... think so.." she said and he grinned to her.
It was what she had hoped for, a lessening of his fear, so
she grinned back then said: "Recycle." and the jelly
disappeared too.

In the end they decided on fruit.
Martin asked if he could have Blue Druvors, a particular
favourite that resembled a large plum. Rangi agreed and two
perfect specimens materialised.
They sat on the edge of a bed and began to eat but Druvors
were juicy fruits and in no time the sticky juice was
covering Martins fingers and chin.
Rangi had little success in washing it off so Martin had
remained tinged blue when he went to sleep.

*

Rangi watched him for a moment then moved to the other bed
and lay down on it.
She wondered how far they had travelled and where they were
going.

{He will have received it by now } she told herself,
remembering the message sent to Shane and pictured him
frowning when he heard her mention 'mountains' .
It was the only thing she had been able to think of in the
moments she'd had but she was confident he would realize
that something was wrong.
{...but what if he didnt pick up his messages?..what if he
hurried to join us on Aeran, reassured that we were safe?
How long would it take him to discover we were
missing?..that we'd never been there?.....and how will he
manage to track us?..if they can get through the Aeran
tachyon grid without being detected...and out again... then
where he will he start?...}

She looked worried and bit her lower lip thoughtfully.
{ Liev..no..Uahk.... he had access to whatever he wanted
more or less....that explains the missing Diophyletine. He'd
been helping himself and it worked perfectly. What a
disguise to adopt...Bren Ohmsfords husband...and he never
suspected anything.}

Martin murmured unintellible words and Rangi turned her head
to look at him but he was obviously dreaming. He didnt wake
and soon the dream had passed and he lay deeply asleep.

{They're going to use us as hostages.} she thought. { What
else could they want us for? Do they know the Federation
won't make deals with kidnappers or terrorists? ........They
think Shane will do as they ask simply to get us back.....
They think he will give in to their demands because we are
his family.}

She stared up at the ceiling.
They had discussed it in the past and both understood that
if ever the circumstance arose, they had no choice but to
maintain the Federations stance and that no matter what the
cost to themselves, the lives of others had to come first.

She knew Shane would leave no stone unturned in efforts to
find them but for now it was up to her to do something.

The question was....what.

Rojac stood and glanced at his chronometer. "The Rapier, Magellan, and Eagle are scheduled to meet us here in half an hour for a quick CO briefing. After that, I want all alpha shift personnel on duty at 0500 tomorrow morning for departure to the Grand Banks for rendezvous at 1100." He pulled down at the edge of his jacket for a moment. "You are dismissed."

Athena let the other file out and when only the CO and XO were left; she approached the duo and firmly requested, "I'd like to be part of the delegation that does the negotiating?"

<snip>

Captain Rojac turned toward the advancing commander, and adopted a sullen visage. "I'm afraid I must deny your request, Commander Wellington. Being the General's fiance you are too personally attached to the situation for Starfleet Command to be confident in your ability to remain objective."

"I understand your point and disagree.  I think I could be an asset," Athena replied generally to see what kind of leeway she might be awarded.

Natalia was surprised at the sudden exchange between the Captain and the Counselor. For a moment she'd forgotten about Athena's involvement with Ivanov, something that was a bit of a sore point for SSF, and then scolded herself for not factoring it into her strategic planning.

"I will allow you to beam aboard with us, to allow you visitation with Ivanov. But when the official negotiations take place I will have to ask you not to participate." Roajc said. "I assure you Athena, there are no hard feelings."

"Thank you, Sir, but..." Athena started.

"Yes, counselor?" He asked.

"But," Athena Started again with a little more force, "I believe my presence could be beneficial ... I might have insights that others wouldn't recognize ... and if need be I can be silent ... an observer if you will."

"Sir... she may have a point," Natalia interjected. "While I don't think her being an active part of the negotiations is a good plan, her presence could help. Her presence could 'improve' Ivanov's mood." Natalia smiled slightly as she said it, hoping Rojac would catch her drift. "He's more likely to be complacent with her there."

"Actually... I'll admit to a bit of a personal agenda... I want these negotiations to go....  well," Athena added.

"What kind of personal agenda?" Natalia asked.

"A personal argument for one thing.... but I think these negotiations Need to go well ...maybe better than just well," Athena replied meaningfully.

The Captain crossed his arms as he eyed the Counselor in contemplation. "Very well Counselor, I will allow you to participate in the negotiations - but only as a silent observer. You will be there to council me on their motives and strategy and shall not actively participate in the proceedings. Is that acceptable? Because that is all I'm willing to concede." He said.

"Yes quite acceptable," Athena answered and turned to leave.  She took two steps and turned back saying, "Viktor will probably assume your using me to get to him and will be on guard."  She turned again to continue her retreat thinking {And not very happy about it.}

"That's what I'm afriad of." Rojac muttered out loud before turning to his XO. "I have to prepare for the CO briefing, Natalia. See to the bridge and make sure we will be ready to depart first thing tomorrow."

"Aye, sir," Natalia said with a nod as Rojac left. She smiled wanly at Athena and wanted to offer a word of encouragement, but thought it would seem contrived. "I'll see you later," she said instead and headed to the exit.

Nanee was glad that Dr. Rice had taken control back of the Sickbay once he returned from the senior staff meeting.  While he was gone her job wasn't difficult at all.  Just routine things like making rounds on the doctor's and nurse's patients, asking if the staff was doing well and if there was anything she could do to help, and even doing examinations for patients herself.  It's just when he said that basically he was handing it all to her from anywhere from a half hour to an hour or so, she tensed up and froze.

It wasn't that she couldn't handle it like it was too much for her, it was the fact that it put her in the spotlight, the one that everyone looked to, and Nanee has just never gotten use to having that much attention before.  She was already pretty sure that everyone was looking at her anyway since one of the former CMO's of the Chimera was her cousin MaiKai Rodgers; who is now stationed on Starbase Unity.

She hoped that Mai had a good reputation because this could only get worse for her if so.  Nanee knew her cousin was good person and always tried to model her a little bit when they were growing up, but if she wasn't kind or did questionable things while working on this ship, Nanee just didn't want that already counting against her if she would make a mistake.  Nanee just had to sit back in her office chair a moment and sip her chai tea.  She just needed like ten more minutes to herself were she could just calm her nerves down before she got right back out there.

The crew as a whole is preparing to depart for the Grand Banks an expansive electrically charged region of space to negotiate with the Eurassian Alliance, which one of them members of our crew is from. This will be a very tenuous task to accomplish for all of us, especially for me as I am in the tactical department which of course has a security responsibility to the entire ship. I find that I am completely ready and able to accomplish this task.
When we arrive at our destination I will no doubt have to accompany at captain and a marine captain xerxes down two their planet to commence negotiations on their relations between the united federation of planets and the EA which could help serve both of our worlds in the event of more escalation in the war with the romulans which could erupt into a smack down fight between our two races which could devastate the entire galaxy not just our planet. Anyway, not as if there is any pressure at least I'm saying it in a sarcastic tone.
I do not know much about the marine captain because frankly, I just have not had time to get to know her. But I will make it a priority to get to know her for this mission commences because I believe it is very import to to know all members of the team well in order to be able to accomplish all tasks in a good manner. However, what I have heard about her from the captain tends to tell me that she is a competent and good officer in the military. I think I was enjoy this particular assignment with great enthusiasm and readiness.

[USS Chimera] SD 240904.16 || CO Briefing || SSF 1TF: Task Group Alpha ||

[Conference Room - Deck One - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C - Aeran Sector]

The CO's of Commander Ohmsford's task group were called to assembly by the Commander in the Chimera's Conference room, the night before their departure. Captain Rojac assumed it was a measure to make sure that everyone was on the same page as far as their purpose and the tactics to be used in negotiation. Cropa looked eagerly around the room at the fellow ship COs as Bren entered the room. Cropa's face was the youngest in the group,  but his battle-field experience made up for most of it.

Captain Frederick Mayo was a large man who easily stood out any any room. He was neither tall or overweight, but he still had a large frame, which included broad shoulders that made him seem bigger than he was. It was his white hair, though, with dark gray streaks that made him standout. It contrasted with his dark skin that gave off his Spanish heritage, even though he could also trace his roots back to Germany and Central America.

"Captain," Frederick said with his usual deep voice to Cropa. "It is finally good to meet the captain of the Chimera."

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Captain Mayo." Rojac responded. "Your record here in Special Forces is something to be admired. I only hope to meet half the length of your resume before I retire."

Frederick shook his head, "My accomplishments pale in comparison to what you and the Chimera have achieved. Anyhow, even though I consider myself my favorite subject, my guess is that we're not here to talk about me. What's important is what we can do next to kick the Romulans behinds back to whatever hell spawned them."

Commander Typhon, selkie CO of the katana-B class Eagle-B, chuckled beneath the respirator of his hydration suit. Selkie's were an aquatic people from the world of Pacifica, and once they reached maturity, they no longer held the amophibious qualities of their youth. Typhon would spend the rest of his service in starfleet inside his hydration suit.

"I believe our participation in this mission will be more... indirect than you are hoping for, Captain Mayo." Typhon replied in his casula sing-song cadence. Selkie's had a way of 'singing' more than talking. "Negotiating with Erassians doesn't quite seem as exciting."

Bren was sitting at the head of the table reading through reports, battle tactics and scenarios for their upcoming mission to Erassian space. They were still waiting for the last member to arrive, Commander Telson. Bren was feeling a little strange seated in a room with some officers who outranked him whom he was about to "command", but he figured he wouldn't have any problems and they all expected the authority granted to him by Task Force Command. He was about to look at his chronometer when the doors slid open and Commander Hank Telson entered hurried, taking his seat at the table.

"I'm sorry I'm late," he apologised quickly, seeming almost out of breath. The Rapier had just arrived from their latest patrol and he had beamed onboard as soon as they were in range. "Sorry for keeping you waiting. My ship was a bit delayed."

"That's quite all right, Commander," Bren said with a nod as he stood up from his chair. "Glad you could make it. Let me introduce myself to those of you who don't know me yet. I'm Commander Ohmsford, currently the Science & Engineering Advisor for 1st Task Force. Commodore Guzman has assigned me to oversee this task group. But before we start strategising, Captain Rojac... you mentioned there was a slight change of plans that was brought up during your senior officers' briefing?"

"Yes." Cropa scooted forward in the seat usually reserved for his XO, but since Commander Ohmsford was in charge of this mission he let Bren takehis usual spot. "My Squadron Commander and Chief of Flilght Operations, Marine Captain Xerxes, was an officer in the Erassian Alliance Military. She has informed me that encroachment into the no-fly zone of the Erass system will be seen as an act of war and advises approaching the Second Fleet, stationed in the Grand Banks stellar region." He paused for a beat. "I for one second this opinion. We are seeking peaceful negotiation and not confrontation and as such we should avoid making gestures that can be percieved as hostile. Secondly, the General in command of the Second Fleet is a knwon entity, and a former comrade. I feel that our past relationship to General Ivanov could work more in our favor to gain support for this investigation."

"Ah, Ivanov," Bren nodded with a knowing smile. "Yes, I'm familiar with him. I suppose that he is our best shot at a successful mission. The Grand Banks is a dense nebula consisting of a series of supernova remnants. If at least nothing else, it should give us adequate cover from long range sensors and possible Romulan spy probes. Now, this changes our strategy a little. I think the best course of action would be to send the Chimera and the Eagle in to meet with Ivanov and the Second Fleet. The Eagle packs the biggest punch after the Chimera, so if anything should go wrong she will be there for backup. She's also fast, so if there's any problem she can get in and out of the Grand Banks fast. Mayo, I want the Magellan to take up position outside the nebula and the Rapier just inside. The Rapier's the fastest ship we have, so if communications fail for some reason, she'll be our messenger. Any comments, questions?"

"Commander," Rojac raised he hand and continued after a nod from Bren. "I would like for Captain Xerxes to join the delegation if possible. Her tenure as an Erassian officer could aid in our negotiations."

Bren nodded. "Of course, I think it would only help to put the Erassians more at ease and maybe smooth over negotiations. The make-up of the delegation is up to you, though. I have limited experience with Erassian diplomacy, so I'll leave that in your capable hands. I'll make sure we get in and out in one piece, you just make sure we get what we came for," he smiled.

"Aye sir." Rojac responded. "It's been a while since I've studied diplomacy, but they say it's like riding a bike."

"A bike, Captain?" Commander Typhon 'sang' in a questioning tone.

"It's a primitive form of ground transportation technology on Earth, Commander. An idiomatic expression, I apologize." Rojac responded.

"I'm glad I can just swim wherever I want back home." The selkie CO responded. "Very well, the Eagle will have your back, Captain Rojac."

Frederick listened to the exchange and nodded when the attention was on him. "I have no questions, Commander," Frederick said. "The Magellan is ready whenever everyone else is ready."

"Commander Telson?" Bren asked. "Any questions from you?"

"No sir," Hank replied firmly. "The Rapier is ready and on standby."

"Anything further you'd like to add, Captain Rojac?"

"I think we're unanimous." Rojac replied.

"Good, then this briefing is adjourned. Let's get underway," Bren said as he got up.

[USS Chimera] SD: 240904.16 Joint Duty Log, Capt. Cropa Rojac/MCapt. Anya Xerxes

[Ready Room - Deck One - USS Chimera NCC96899-C]

Anya approached the Captain's ready room with a fair amount of trepidation.  It wasn't dealing with the Captain or any senior officer that she was worried about, she had been in the military for far too long to be phased by that.  What worried her was the reasons she was being called in.  The possibilities were wide ranging from the Captain wanting advice on how to deal with the Erassian Alliance to Anya being removed from duty and detained for so called 'security' measures.

Cropa heard the chime and gave his usual call, allowing the petitioner to enter. He looked up to see Captain Xerxes enter his office, but not in her usual somewhat-cocky and confident demeanor. "Captain Xerxes." He greeted her plainly.

"Good Morning Captain Rojac.  You asked you see me sir?"  Anya said after entering and saluting.

"I did, Captain, but you seem to have a drop in morale. Is something troubling you?" He asked.

Anya gave a wan smile.  "I seem to find myself in the unenviable position of being stuck firmly between two empires butting heads.  If things go badly and I stay with Starfleet the Alliance will have me assassinated because I know too many of their secrets and if I go over to the Alliance Starfleet will likely do the same though off the books, and finally if I choose neither side both will hunt me down either as a liability to themselves or as a key to undermining their opponent.  So I guess the question I should ask is, has either Commander Ohmsford or Commodore Guzman requested you to arrest me?"

"You are in a precarious position, and I know Federation and Erassian relations are not the smoothest. Rest assured though, Captain. You have never done anything to betray my trust, and I will never treat you in a manner not befitting your prestige and service." He told her. "I called you here today not to isolate you from this mission, but to ask for your assistance. Your participation will be completely voluntary, but I feel your advice and particpiation during negotiations would be extremely beneficial for the realization of this mission's objectives. That is if you accept."

"Of course I accept Captain.  I don't see any better options for me to avoid certain death.  I have to warn you though you may not like some of the things I might say but as an Erassian I understand the Alliance better than any diplomatic staff or high ranking officers that may be along on this mission.  Plus some of the things I might say you might find odd so if you don't understand just ask and I can explain."  Anya replied a bit lighter but still not to her usual bouyant level.

"Excellent." Rojac replied. "Then turn the department over to Lieutenant Lanner for a few days. The negotiations will begin as soon as we arrive. I want you on the bridge at 1130 hours tomorrow morning. But one more thing, Captain."

Anya mentally winced at the thought of leaving her department under the control of her XO but there wasn't likely to be any fighter launches whilst in the Grand Banks anyway.  The electrical discharges would fry most fighters and the pilots regardless of shields and that was within the relative safety of the straights.  "Very well sir, what's the other thing?"

"I want you to see a counsellor this evening before we begin." Rojac said. "This is no doubt a stressful situation, and I need you with a clear head tomorrow. Either Ensign Hopeler or Commander Wellington will do; whomever you are more comfortable with."

{Oh Joy} Anya thought.  She couldn't really see how speaking to a Counselor was going to lessen the stress of impending certain death. "I'll look into it Captain."

"Thank you, Captain." Rojac said. "You are dismissed."

[USS Chimera] SD 240904.15 | Harker's Revenge | Joint Log, Cmdr Summers (1TF Med Adv), Martin Guzman (Civ) & Maj Varis (1TF JAG); Part II

= SB Unity, Civilian Section - Transporter Room =

Suddenly there was a loud explosion that tore through part of the civilian decks, causing the section they were in to temporarily lose power. The lights flickered
out and the deck shook and when the emergency lighting came on, the transporter operator was lying dead on the floor and Liev held a pistol pointed straight at Martin, but his eyes fixed Rangi with an evil stare.

"What are you doing?" she asked, her voice unsteady and low "Who 'are' you?.."

"Oh, we've met before," he replied snidely, his voice sounding different. "Quite a few years ago, at Starbase Zetari. I had some... fun... with Lieutenant Versey. Major Walsh of course didn't appreciate it, he kept me in interrogation for hours."

" Mummy.." Martin, stood on the edge of the transporter floor looking shocked and scared. He dropped his net and little bucket which bounced down the steps and came to a stop at Liev's feet.

"Its' alright." Rangi said almost as an automatic responce because it definatley wasn't alright at all. She moved quickly towards the child who clung to her at once.
She looked back at Liev. " What do you want with us?" she asked coldly.

"I have no time for chit-chat," Liev said as he walked brusquely towards them, stripping them of their communicators and putting them on an empty transporter pad. Keeping his pistol aimed at Rangi and Martin, he stepped back to the transporter console and altered their coordinates. Initiating the energizing timer, he hurred over and got onto the transporter pad. "Oh, and thank you for the diophyletine."

She stared at him trying to make sense of everything and saw him glance towards the door where sounds of running feet and voices were growing nearer.

The transporter energized and they were whisked away by the blue light. A moment later they materialized inside a small compartment on a 4 person pad. Liev stepped off first and kept the pistol leveled at Rangi. "Get off," he said.

There was no option other than to obey. She held Martins hand tightly but he had no intention of letting her go and was almost a shadow in that he stayed so close.

Above the door  was a sign written, Rangi was sure, in Romulan but her grasp of it was weak to say the least and she thought that it merely said 'Way out'

Liev punched the control that opened the door and they entered a narrow corridor.

He told Rangi to walked ahead and they proceeded towards the end of the corridor where three doors were; two to the left and right and one straight ahead. Liev opened the door that was straight ahead and they entered a cockpit area where a Romulan man and a Human woman sat at the control station.

The viewscreen showed they hadn't gone far for Unity lay dead ahead of them with the planet visible to the left. Martin looked up at Rangi perhaps expecting her to explain  but she merely patted her hand against his shoulder where it lay in silent reassurance.

The woman stood up and walked towards them. She had shoulder length dark hair and a familiar look about her. "Commander Rangi Summers," she said as she smirked at Rangi, then turned to Liev. "Thank you a Uahk, you can go ahead and change now."

"Can't wait," Liev said as he handed the pistol over to the woman and left the cockpit.

Rangi realized then why Liev had seemed 'different'. {I should have realized} she chastised herself.

She raised her chin. " Whatever it is you're planning... you wont get far." she said, sounding as definate as she could but her words brought only amusement to the woman's face.

"Harker, we are ready," the Romulan man said to the woman from the helm control station.

Turning her head, she nodded towards him, then looked back at Rangi. "We already have got far," she said. "You see, this shuttle has a cloaking device that is undetectable by Federation sensors. We passed through the Aeran tachyon grid without so much as a blip on the radar. And we will pass through it again undetected. Why? Because my friend Uahk there has been covertly giving us access to all Task Force records. It's very handy to have a Chameloid working on your side, especially one impersonating an SSF JAG officer with high level clearance."

It was worse than she could have expected and Rangi thought that rather than wonder what they might know, it seemed more appropriate to wonder what they didn't....but the name fixated her { Harker?}

She fixed Rangi with a steely gaze and handed her a communications device. "Your communicators have been beamed down to the surface. By the time Unity realises you're not on Aeran, we'll be long gone. But, just to buy us some time, you're going to tell your significant other that you beamed down successfully before the unfortunate reactor malfunction."

Her first instinct was to refuse but she was not alone and she didnt doubt that this 'Harker' and anyone else on board would fail to harm Martin if she didnt co-operate. She stepped forward slowly and Harker looked more smug than before. "You had better sound convincing." she said.

Rangi took the communicator, seeing it preset to sned a message directly to Shanes private line. She swallowed, her mouth felt dry and she bit her lower lip.
This was a chance to warn Shane that something was wrong but what could she say? She saw Harker change the angle of the pistol, pointing it now at Martins head.

"Convincing.." she repeated.

Rangi took a deep breath to calm herself. She must sound convincing, happy, carefree and she must warn him. " Hello darling." she said looking at Harker as she spoke. "The communcation officer told me there's a malfunction and but don't worry, we're fine...no problems. I hope it wont delay you too long.." She paused and Harker, listening attentively dropped her gaze to Martin for a split second. " The place is absolutley lovely." Rangi said, sounding enthusiastic enough to fool anyone. " I'm so glad we decided on the sea instead of the mountains. We'll see you soon.... Love you."

Harker snatched the communication handset away.

Rangi looked down at Martin and gave him a small smile, seeing his slightly puzzled expression. She willed him not to say anything, knowing that if he asked what she meant then her ploy would be uncovered. After a second, although with uncertainty, he smiled back.

"Has the comm been rerouted properly through her communicator?" Harker asked the Romulan man.

"Yes," he nodded. "We're ready for departure."

"Good," Harker said, returning to Rangi just as Uahk re-entered the small bridge. He looked completely different, his true self again; dark skin with a greenish hue, amber eyes and dark matted hair with faint red streaks. "Uahk, please escort Commander Summers and her charge to their quarters." Then she turned to the helm station. "Reitu, get us underway. Make sure to alter the beacon."

The ship began to reverse and swing to the left. Unity began to disappear from sight as the viewscreen filled with Aeran. It was possible to see, just below the equator, the blue mass of a sea. How close it seemed yet how far away. The ship continued to turn and Rangi felt a rough  touch on her arm.It was Uahk. He pointed back towards the door and Rangi, with Martin close by, moved towards it.

Uahk led Rangi and Martin back out into the corridor and to the door on their right. The cabin was small with two single beds, a small en-suite lavatory and a food replicator.

"Get comfortable, you'll be here a while," he said, waving them inside.

They went in and the door was sealed behind them. Rangi looked around. There was no viewport and nothing that could give them a chance of escape for the the door could not be opened from this side.

"Mummy?" Martin looked up at her and she immediately knelt down, bringing herself level with his face. "I'm scared." he said.

"I know." Rangi moved to hold him close to her, kissing his face before he snuggled into her shoulder. She kept her face against his hair on a breath of sound whispered into his ear. "These people might be able to hear us. Please dont say anything about the mountians. Daddy will understand that its a warning. He will come and find us."

She turned her head slightly and kissed him again then leaned back on her heels.

"Alright?" she asked him in a normal voice.

Martin nodded and she saw he had understood her. "Yes...." he said. " I'm alright."

=/\= duty log, cadet Jonas Archer, assistant tactical officer, USS Chimera =/\=

I had just left my quarters and was in route to the turbo lift so that I could get to the bridge and performer my duties for the bravo shift as assistant tactical officer.  I arrived at the turbolift and told the computer to go to " main bridge" and it started on its way up.  Upon arriving at my destination, I noticed that at that moment the captain was not present just the executive officer commander Natalia and the rest of the bridge crew.  So, I went up to the tactical console and took my position for that shift.  I was hoping that it would not be as uneventful as the past few shifts that I had undertaken in my position, I would soon find out that it would not be mundane and boring.

Only a few minutes into my shift I noticed something on long range sensors, so I reported to my executive officer and she noted it and told me to keep an eye out for anything more suspicious.  When all of the sudden a roumulan warbird de-cloaked off of the port bow.  So, I said commander "warbird de-cloaking of port bow, what are your orders?" and she responded with "cadet, go to red alert and raise our shields." I replied with yes ma'am and follow the order.  During the situation the captain was called to the bridge and security throughout the entire ship was tripled its sensitive areas.  Everyone on the bridge was very nervous but was able to complete their tasks.

Once the captain arrived, he ordered me to open communications frequencies to the warship and he said, "romulan vessel, this is captain Cropa Rojac of the federation starship chimera, you are in violation of federation treaty states your intentions." The other vessel responded by charging weapons and firing not burst of torpedoes at us.  So, the captain said "cadet, returned fire disabled their ship.  So I fired, and by exploiting a weakness it the other ship managed to punch through the shields on their ship and that was the enough to make them turn around and leave the area.  After the vessel left, the captain ordered me to, "return to green status and move back to the area, the last part was too the helm officer.

[USS Chimera] 240904.15, [UNITY] Personal Log, Cdr Rick Rodgers

=Rick and Mai's Quarters=
=Starbase UNITY=

Rick arrived home late after his conversation with Commander
Mackey. He glanced in his and Mai's bedroom and saw her laying
in bed fast asleep. He then made his way into Rachel's room
and walked up to her bed. He looked down at her sleeping and
leaned over to give her a kiss on the side of her head.

He returned to his and Mai's bedroom, trying to be as quiet as
possible. He slowly slid out his clothes and pulled on a comfortable
T-shirt and pair of shorts. He slid into bed next to Mai, looking up
at the ceiling for a few minutes before falling asleep.

Then something suddenly woke him. It was a noise of some sort.
He shot up in bed and looked around the room. He saw Mai still
sleeping. Maybe it was his imagination, he thought as he laid his
head back on the pillow.

Then he heard the noise again.

He sat up again and realized that it was coming from the main
living area. He was surprised that Mai hadn't awoken yet as he
slid out of bed and made his way to the door. When he crossed
the threshold, there was a bright light before everything went
black.

Moments later, he opened his eyes and noticed that he was now
sitting. He looked around nervously. He was no longer in his
quarters. The room was dark, with the exception of a light focused
on him.

This somehow seemed familiar.

Then his eyes widened and fear struck as he saw a figure approach.

It was Hoack in his human form.

Rick tried to move, but suddenly realized that he was tied to the
chair.

"Commander Rodgers, it is so good to see you again," Hoack
said.

"No," Rick shook his head. "No, no, no ... not again."

"Yes, commander. We have some unfinished business, you and I."

Hoack disappeared into the dark, and returned, rolling in
something behind him. Rick saw what it was and his fear turned
into terror.

It was the device, the device with no name. But Rick knew it well.

His struggles against his bondage intensified. He screamed, but no
sound came out.

"I promise, this time, there will be no recovery," Hoack said as he
placed attachments from the device above each of Rick's temples.

Rick began to panic. He tried to escape. It was no use.

Hoack then took a long needle from the device, another attachment,
and walked around behind Rick.

"This time, commander, there will be no recovery," Hoack said. "And
after I'm finished with you, I'll do the same to your wife and daughter."

"I'll kill you!" Rick was finally able scream out

Hoack laughed in response.

He took the needle and inserted it into the back of Rick's head, just
below his skull. His closed his eyes as the pain was as intense as he
had remembered.

When the pain worsened, his eyes shot open as he and found himself
sitting in his bed. He was breathing heavily and was sweating. It was a
cold sweat. His heart was racing and his whole body was shaking
uncontrollably. He was still in a state of terror and panic.

He looked over and saw Mai was still sleeping.

He didn't want to wake her, so he rolled out of bed and crawled to
the far corner of the room. He sat and wrapped his arms around his
knees and began to rock back and fourth as his body continued to
tremble.

[USS Chimera] 240904.14, [JDC] NPC Log, RAdm Leland Jefferson (Deupty CO)

=Admiral Jefferson's Office=
=San Francisco, Earth=

Leland Jefferson read over the PADD that had just been given to
him by his aide, Lieutenant Rj'sad. His eyes narrowed as he read
before he tossed it to the side and shook his head.

"Who, may I ask, approved sending a convoy loaded with critical
supplies to the Aeran system without a proper escort?" Jefferson
calmly, with his southern accent, asked even though he was clearly
angry.

"That would be ..." his aide looked over his own PADD. "... Captain
Dunsmore. Undra Dunsmore. Operations."

The elder admiral took a deep breath, doing the best to keep his
calm demeanor, before looking up at Rj'sad.

"Please inform Captain Dunsmore that I would like to see him in
my office and I wanted him here ten minutes ago," Jefferson
said.

"Yes, sir," Rj'sad replied as he turned and left the office.

As Jefferson waited for Dunsmore, he contacted Admiral Janeway
and informed her of the situation. He explained, with her approval,
that he would handle Dunsmore.

Several minutes later, Leland's door opened and Rj'sad entered,
followed by another man.

"Captain Dunsmore?" Jefferson asked.

"Yes, sir," the other man replied.

"Lieutenant, would you leave us please," Jefferson said as Rj'sad,
looking grateful, exited the office.

Jefferson stood and walked around to the side of his desk.

"What in the hell were you thinking?" Jefferson asked, remaining as
calm as possible.

"Sir?"

"Sending a defenseless convoy through an area of space near the
Romulan border. So, please explain to me, what in the hell were you
thinking?"

"I was informed by the UNITY's chief engineer that those materials
were needed right away. I didn't have any escort ships available, so
I ..."

Jefferson raised his right hand, interrupting the captain.

"We never ... ever send a convoy of any kind into an area of space
that close to the war zone without an armed escort. I don't care
how bad the UNITY chief engineer said that shipment was needed."

Jefferson walked up to Dunsmore and leaned into his left ear, "You
know better, captain."

Jefferson then walked behind the captain and to Dunsmore's right.

"More than two hundred people were killed. There were no survivors.
Eight cargo ships destroyed. And you, captain, are as much to blame
as the Romulans," Jefferson continued, his calmness becoming more
unsettling.

"Sir, I ..."

"Captain, I understand that mistakes happen. Bad decisions are made.
But this ..." Jefferson shook his head. "This is beyond unaccepable."

Jefferson walked back to his chair behind his desk, but remained
standing.

"I am relieving you of duties until a board on inquiry can hear you
case," Jefferson said. "I assure you, the best you could hope for is
a court marshal and a dishonable discharge. Your dismissed, captain."

Dunsmore cleared the lump out of his throat before he nodded and
turned to leave the office. As soon as the captain was gone, Leland
plopped into his chair and closed his eyes. He knew he would have
felt better if he had screamed and yelled at Dunsmore, but that was
not his way. He was not a screamer, even in the worst of situations.

Then a thought entered his head.

He had never been to Starbase UNITY. Perhaps a visit was in order.
If he could only clear his schedule sometime in the next few weeks.

[USS Chimera] SD: 240904.14 Duty BackLog Cmdr. Wellington

=/\= Conference Room - Deck One - USS Chimera NCC96899-C =/\=
Athena had made it back to the Chimera in the last few minutes that was needed and as a result she was the last to arrive for the Senior Staff Briefing.  Rojac nodded to Commander Trzetrzelewska, giving her the signal to pass around the files he sent her earlier. "Commander Trzetrzelewska is passing around the notes for our upcoming mission, where we will be subordinate to Commander Ohmsford's command. Commodore Guzman has given him command of this mission because of it's vital diplomatic importance." Athena quietly took a seat just before a padd was handed to her.

The captain continued, "As you see in your briefings, SFI sources tracked a clandestine transmission from the sensor outpost in our last mission to three different locations. The first two led to dead-ends and the last into Erassian Space - where Starfleet vessels have been denied access."

{Interesting..} Athena thought and missed the joke that brought forth a few chuckles.  {Co-ordinating with other ships...ohh joy.}  Athena sighed realizing she needed to find a better mood.

"Now, on to business..." Rojac said as he took his seat. "We're fresh back from break. How is our ship holding up? Reports?"

Anya seemed to be up first and Athena gave her attention to the other woman.  "Fighter munitions have been replenished, maintenance on the fighters is completed and only one minor disciplinary action during shore leave left to action.  One of Unity's Heavy Bomber pilots got a little too hands on when chatting up one of my pilots so she knocked him out.  I've already put in place a few preparations for the mission ahead as I already received a call from a certain annoyed Ambassador asking me to use my many years of wisdom to prevent a catastrophe but I can get into that in the briefing proper." Anya said noting who looked unamused at her pilot's shore leave antics.
{Good for her} Athena thought about Anya's pilot.  Athena's gaze followed the Co and XO's and fell upon someone she hadn't seen before.  Evening everyone, I'm Dr Rice, the new Acting Chief Medical Officer," he introduced himself. "Sickbay has seen quite a few new transfers into the department, including myself, but we are ready. We've already started the next round of physical check-ups and things are going smoothly."

{Aahh...new CMO.}  Athena lost herself some where in the rest of the reports and was grateful that she didn't seem to be required to give one;most likely due to her late arrival.  Her attention was drawn back to the conversation as Anya interrupted give some very pointed suggestions.  "Erass System which is a denied territory guarded by the First Fleet who will not hesitate to kill us all if we push into where we don't belong.  Our best chance of success lies in negotiating with General Ivanov and the Second Fleet who are currently stationed within the Grand Banks nebula near the Eaglin Straights.  Problem is we can't call them to come out we have to go in to them.  After we arrive at the new set of coordinates for the entry into the nebula I can get a hold of updated navigation data for the straights through the Grand Banks but it will come at a price."  Anya interrupted before the plans could go too far down the wrong path.
{I think I need to be part of this} Athena thought and kept her attention on the conversation.  She smirked when it was mentioned that there would be no incidents from this crew.  {Good luck with that.}  Captain Reese was given an assignment and Lieutenant Kroitzer was order to give assistance.  Athena gave a small smile as Tommy was given his two directives and she hoped he wouldn't think the assignments too easy.

Athena let the other file out and when only the CO and XO were left; she approached the duo and firmly requested, "I'd like to be part of the delegation that does the negotiating.?."

[USS Chimera] SD 240904.14 | Harker's Revenge | Joint Log, Cmdr Summers (1TF Med Adv), Martin Guzman (Civ) & Maj Varis (1TF JAG); Part I

OOC: This is the start of a subplot named "Harker's Revenge" involving Rangi, Shane and an old enemy of his. The log takes place the morning after Chimera's departure.

= Guzman/ Summers Quarters - SB Unity =

"You know this doesn't fit you properly any more...do you 'really' want to take it?" Rangi lifted up the T shirt and eyed it critically. The faded yellow fish motif on the front seemed to eye her back.

"Yes!..yes yes.." Martin declared grabbing the hem of the garment. " ...it's my 'fishing' T shirt.. and I need it." he said, pulling it from her hands, giving it a hastey fold and stuffing it into the side of the holdall she was packing.

Rangi laughed. " Oh alright." she said and he beamed at her happily. She glanced around at the open wardrobe doors. " Now...what else do we need?" she asked thoughtfully. " Did you find your other flipflop? I'm sure its with your other shoes...why dont you look again?"

"It's not there. I already looked."

"Well please just try once more. If you can't find it then I'll come and search."

"Ok." Martin said and ran off towards his bedroom. Rangi watched him go, smiling to herself. He was so excited and had woken Shane in the early hours of the morning asking if it was time to leave yet.

The family were taking a short break. They weren't planning to go far, just to the planet and a small complex beside the Azure Sea that had been recommended by Lucy as a place to relax and unwind. All three had been keen to go and had talked about it for some weeks. With the current situation as it was, Rangi had
been doubtful that Shane would ever be able to spare the time but he said that it could be possible for forty eight hours or maybe just  thirty six but it would be a break at least.

When the call came she expected it to be Shane, telling her he was on his way back. He had gone to his office  'just for an hour'  two and a half hours ago. They were due to transport at 11.00 but the news was not good.

" Oh Shane." Rangi said, unable to hide the disappointment in her voice. She listened to him and nodded although he couldn't see her. "Yes..yes ofcourse I understand. Its' alright. Martin and I will go and..and get things sorted out. It can't be helped. We'll see you later this afternoon. No..no don't worry about it. I'll see to it. Byebye. I love you."

The call ended and Martin, returning with the missing flipflop, saw Rangis face and knew something was wrong. " I found it inside my Wellington boot.... whats the
matter?" he asked.

She knelt down in front of the little boy, placing her hands on his shoulders. "A slight change of plan." she said. "Daddy can't come with us at the moment. He has to deal with something very important."

"But I want him to come." Martin said, all happiness already evaporating.

" He will do." Rangi assured him "...it will be later though..this afternoon. That's not too bad is it?"

Martins disappointment was plain to see. His eyes began to fill with tears.

"Look..if we go first then that will give you time to look for the best pools..the best places to fish. You can explore a bit and then, when daddy comes, you can show them to him. You might even find some shells or something...wouldn't that be good?"

The idea cheered him a little and he held out the flipflop. " He will come won't he?" he asked and Rangi nodded as she took the rubber shoe.

"Yes...ofcourse." she said. "..he's promised." She smiled to her son and after a moment he smiled back. She hugged him then said. " Ok...lets finish this then. You
know?..we can even go a little earlier if we don't have to wait for daddy."

Martin was torn but the idea of exploring and finding shells to show Shane soon won. He nodded with enthusiasm and Rangi got to her feet.

=

Ten minutes later they were heading along the corridor towards the turbo lift, Rangi carrying the luggage and Martin running ahead carrying a fishing net and a  bucket. He had already pressed the button on the edge of lift doors when Rangi caught up with him.

"We're going on holiday" he announced proudly as soon as the doors slid open and the passengers inside looked suitably impressed and envious enough to please him. "Where to Ma'am?" asked one of the passengers.

"Transporter rooms...civilian section please." Rangi replied, dumping the holdall at her feet.

The passenger pressed the button and the lift moved smoothly on its way. Martin jigged up and down. "~Holiday~ holiday~ " he sang to himself.

The lift came to a halt on the way to the civilian section and opened to allow two more passengers. One was a junior officer and the other was Major Varis Liev.

"Commander, what a surprise to see you," Liev greeted Rangi as he stepped inside. "Hello Martin, long time no see." He reached out and rubbed Martin's hair with his free hand, clutching the strap of his shoulder bag with the other.

 " Major..hello." Rangi replied.

"I've brought my fishing net." Martin said, lifting it up and waving it towards Lievs face.

" Martin.." Rangi said in warning tone and the net was lowered though the jigging continued.

"Are you going on a holiday?" Liev asked, looking at the luggage.

"Yes, we're going to the seaside." Martin said, his eyes bright with happiness.

" Yes, for a while..." Rangi said ."..to Aerans Azure Sea....and you?"

"I need to go down to Aeran as well for a meeting with the governing committee," Liev answered Rangi's question. She nodded.

The lift stopped and they got off on the correct deck. As the three headed down the corridor towards the transporter room, Liev said, "I believe the Azure Sea is lovely this time of year."

"Yes, so I understand." Rangi replied. " A friend has spent a few days there and recommended it. I hope it's as good as she says."

They entered the transporter room which was empty save for the transporter operator standing beside the console. "We're all going down to Aeran," Liev said to the operator, then turned towards Rangi and Martin. "Are you two ready?"

"Yes!" Martin replied loudly  and Rangi laid a hand on his shoulder to calm him down. " Step on the circle then and stand still" she said. He needed no second telling and as he began to climb the steps, Rangi turned to Liev. She had half expected him to be watching the child too and was surprised to see that he was staring at her but looked away as soon as she turned her head.

It struck her as odd, though why she couldnt quite define until it suddenly dawned on her that Lievs eyes were a golden colour, amber almost and she had never noticed it before.

[USS Chimera] 240904.14, [SHIPYARD] Duty Log, Cdr Rick Rodgers

=Tarangor/Aeran Shipyard=
=Aeran System=

Rick sat at his desk, tapping his fingers on its smooth surface
impatiently. He had been trying to contact someone at starfleet
about the recent supply problem for the past several hours. It
was late, and he would rather be home with Mai and Rachel
having a nice dinner instead of being given the runaround by a
bunch of desk jockeys.

It was getting late. Or perhaps it was already late. He had lost
track.

As he rubbed his eyes, an image appeared on the computer
screen in front of him. Rick didn't even notice.

"Commander Rodgers?"

Rick's eyes shot to the screen in a bit of a surprise.

"Yeah ... yes."

"Commander, I'm Commander Lance Mackey. I'm in charge
of distribution of materials to shipyards in the quadrant. I've
been told you've been trying to get in touch with me."

'FINALLY!' Rick thought.

"Yes, commander, I have," Rick said.

"How can I help?"

"I need new shipment sent here, that how you help," Rick said.

"Tarangor/Aeran Shipyard. Is that correct?"

"Yes, that correct."

"We've already sent out a shipment a couple of days ago,"
Mackey replied.

"I know, but shipment was destroyed by Romulan raiding
party."

"I know, but there is nothing I can do about that. And as I
told Commander Utley, the next shipment will not be ready
for at least four weeks."

"At least four weeks? She said three to four weeks."

"At the time, that was the plan. But things change, so does
demand," Mackey said.

"Demand?"

"We have to distribute materials to shipyards throughout
Federation space. Other shipyards build bigger ships and
have the need for more materials. They also have the
priority."

"Wait? You saying since we not make big ships, then we
have to wait even longer?" Rick was getting angry at this
point.

"The ships those facilities create are more critical to the
war effort than a few fighters," Mackey responded.

"Commander, if I not get a new shipment soon, then I have
to shut down production within week. Since we just started
production, I not to happy about idea of shutting down so
soon."

"I'm sorry, commander. But we did what we could for the
time being. And we have our priorities."

"How about half of that shipment in the next couple of
weeks," Rick suggested. "Anything to help keep this
shipyard operational."

"I ... I don't know. We try not to send out any cargo until
we have enough to justify the effort."

"What the HELL that suppose to mean?" Rick shouted.

"Commander ..."

Rick interrupted.

"Commander, I could have Admiral Jefferson on line in
the next couple of minutes. And he could have Janeway on
line shortly after that. Is that necessary?"

Rick was bluffing. Sure, he knew Jefferson, but he doubted
the JDC Deputy CO would do anything about Rick's current
situation.

There was a long pause as Rick became a little nervous.

"I'll see what I can do, but I can make no promises," Mackey
finally said.

"Anything you give us would be big help."

"I'll let you know in a day or so. Mackey out."

The image disappeared, replaced by a logo. Rick shut off the
computer, knowing that he did all he could today. So, he
decided to call it a night.

Tougher sentencing comes into effect...
"Ray, we know you understand what you did was wrong," Rick said.
"That's why we have decided not to ground you. Instead, you will
not get any dessert tonight and tomorrow night. OK?"
Cmdr. Rick 'Crime & Punishment' Rodgers

Remind me of the definition of accident?
"Please remember that the Narendra accident happened at the most
unfitting time. I had a heated conversation with Ambassador Aynami and
since she's the perfect sample of her people, they won't be happy
about Federation's stand to this fact. Just under us, Federation
council blames the Erassians for the accident and demands punishment
for Aynami and the Commanding officer of the Erassian strike force as
well as a official apology to the Klingon high council. Both of you
know Aynami or Viktor and can very well imagine their reaction."
Commo. Shane 'Diplomat' Guzman
***************************************************
I sense an 'accident' in the making...
The stand-offish response had been expected from the
Commodore.  His dislike for the Alliance was widespread
knowledge but the fact that he would be willing to
break the Mutual Defense Treaty so flagrantly would be
pushing the Alliance too far.  If this task force were to
force its way into the Erass System the Alliance wouldn't
take it as grounds for a complaint it would see it as an
act of war.  As for the whole situation around the strike
on the Narendra Station the Alliance had a right to
protect itself and if anyone had a legal right to complain
it was the Klingon Empire certainly not the Federation who
held no jurisdiction within the borders of the Empire.  Still
though it was surprising that Guzman revered the Klingons
as allies above the Alliance when the Klingons hadn't lifted a
finger (and in the case of Narendra cooperated with the
Romulans) whereas the Alliance had helped stop the capture
of this very starbase.  Some people had short memories indeed.
Amb. Alecto 'Trips, Slips & Falls' Ayanami

Unity offers a high standard of education...
" They teach him to 'gamble' in playgroup?" Rangi whisperedto Shane, looking at him with an expression of amazement. Shane grinned and whispered back: "It looks so, but Iwonder who taught him poker ... "Cmdr. Rangi 'Texas Hold'em' Summers

Erassian Optimism"Good enough Commander although having already been given someinformation on today's mission from another source I'd have to saythere are easier ways of committing suicide but I'll point out my ideaswhen everybody is here."  Anya replied evenly.
MCapt. Anya 'Cheery' Xerxes

Workaholics...are they dangerous?
During the night, during her reports, she kept on looking at the timewhat seemed like every few minutes to her. Those reports were gettingto her. Until then, she had already done 20 reports out of all thephysicals that she had completed. She was making progress, but it wasso slow.

Don't judge a book by it's cover!
"Speak of the devil," Alexander said as he looked up and spotted Nanee. Herecognized her from her database file. He quickly got up and walked outof his office. "Dr Quoicho," he called out as he approached her.

- Subject Lines
-------------------------
Please remember to use the following format for your subject lines:

e.g., SD 240502.01, CO's Log, Capt Rojac
e.g., SD 240502.01, Personal Log, Cropa Rojac
The [USS Chimera] part of the subject is placed automatically by the listserv, so you don't need to include it.
Also remember to include your details at the end of your log
e.g.,
Captain Cropa Rojac
Commanding Officer
USS Chimera NX 96899-B
-------------------------
- Logging Guidelines
-------------------------
Logging:
The weekly logging deadline is at Midnight (12:00AM/00:00) GMT/UTC (19:00 EST); all logs received after the deadline will be counted for the following week. If you are pressed for time and would like a log to count for the previous week, but it is sent after the deadline, please send an email to the command team when you send the log so that we can make the corrections.
Please remember that all MAJOR plot changes need to be cleared with the command staff before a log goes through! You can do this by sending the command staff (chimera-command@ucip.org ) a log labeled with "Draft" tagged to the subject line. We'll typically let you know if it's approved within 24 to 48 hours, or tell you what might need to be modified before it's sent to the listserv.
When using other characters in your logs, please keep in mind that person's characteristics. Character information can be found on the UCIP website or the USS Chimera website (under CREW - just click on the Star Trek symbol next to the character's name). If you're still unsure how to interact with a character, then privately mail the person
involved, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help.
Conversely, if you feel that your character is being portrayed incorrectly by someone please contact them to try to work out an agreeable solution. Just keep in mind when logging to treat other characters the way you'd like them to treat you - with the respect due to any member of Starfleet who is a specialist in their field.
If you think your log may be going out of bounds, then please ask! If you are having problems finding things to write about or would just like some help with your log, please contact your department head or the command team. Remember, you don't always have to log about things relating to the main plot - logs that develop your character's
personality are encouraged! We're eager to help if you're having trouble; just email the command team (chimera-command@ucip.org).

-------------------------
Any officer who is Absent Without Leave (0) for two or more consecutive

The following crewmen are on report:
Cadet Jonas Archer
-------------------------
- Removals/Resignations
-------------------------
The following crew have either resigned or have been dropped due to lack of activity. If they would like a position on the USS Chimera, they will need to reapply.
