= SB Unity, Civilian Section - Transporter Room =
Suddenly there was a loud explosion that tore through part of the civilian decks, causing the section they were in to temporarily lose power. The lights flickered
out and the deck shook and when the emergency lighting came on, the transporter operator was lying dead on the floor and Liev held a pistol pointed straight at Martin, but his eyes fixed Rangi with an evil stare.
"What are you doing?" she asked, her voice unsteady and low "Who 'are' you?.."
"Oh, we've met before," he replied snidely, his voice sounding different. "Quite a few years ago, at Starbase Zetari. I had some... fun... with Lieutenant Versey. Major Walsh of course didn't appreciate it, he kept me in interrogation for hours."
" Mummy.." Martin, stood on the edge of the transporter floor looking shocked and scared. He dropped his net and little bucket which bounced down the steps and came to a stop at Liev's feet.
"Its' alright." Rangi said almost as an automatic responce because it definatley wasn't alright at all. She moved quickly towards the child who clung to her at once.
She looked back at Liev. " What do you want with us?" she asked coldly.
"I have no time for chit-chat," Liev said as he walked brusquely towards them, stripping them of their communicators and putting them on an empty transporter pad. Keeping his pistol aimed at Rangi and Martin, he stepped back to the transporter console and altered their coordinates. Initiating the energizing timer, he hurred over and got onto the transporter pad. "Oh, and thank you for the diophyletine."
She stared at him trying to make sense of everything and saw him glance towards the door where sounds of running feet and voices were growing nearer.
The transporter energized and they were whisked away by the blue light. A moment later they materialized inside a small compartment on a 4 person pad. Liev stepped off first and kept the pistol leveled at Rangi. "Get off," he said.
There was no option other than to obey. She held Martins hand tightly but he had no intention of letting her go and was almost a shadow in that he stayed so close.
Above the door was a sign written, Rangi was sure, in Romulan but her grasp of it was weak to say the least and she thought that it merely said 'Way out'
Liev punched the control that opened the door and they entered a narrow corridor.
He told Rangi to walked ahead and they proceeded towards the end of the corridor where three doors were; two to the left and right and one straight ahead. Liev opened the door that was straight ahead and they entered a cockpit area where a Romulan man and a Human woman sat at the control station.
The viewscreen showed they hadn't gone far for Unity lay dead ahead of them with the planet visible to the left. Martin looked up at Rangi perhaps expecting her to explain but she merely patted her hand against his shoulder where it lay in silent reassurance.
The woman stood up and walked towards them. She had shoulder length dark hair and a familiar look about her. "Commander Rangi Summers," she said as she smirked at Rangi, then turned to Liev. "Thank you a Uahk, you can go ahead and change now."
"Can't wait," Liev said as he handed the pistol over to the woman and left the cockpit.
Rangi realized then why Liev had seemed 'different'. {I should have realized} she chastised herself.
She raised her chin. " Whatever it is you're planning... you wont get far." she said, sounding as definate as she could but her words brought only amusement to the woman's face.
"Harker, we are ready," the Romulan man said to the woman from the helm control station.
Turning her head, she nodded towards him, then looked back at Rangi. "We already have got far," she said. "You see, this shuttle has a cloaking device that is undetectable by Federation sensors. We passed through the Aeran tachyon grid without so much as a blip on the radar. And we will pass through it again undetected. Why? Because my friend Uahk there has been covertly giving us access to all Task Force records. It's very handy to have a Chameloid working on your side, especially one impersonating an SSF JAG officer with high level clearance."
It was worse than she could have expected and Rangi thought that rather than wonder what they might know, it seemed more appropriate to wonder what they didn't....but the name fixated her { Harker?}
She fixed Rangi with a steely gaze and handed her a communications device. "Your communicators have been beamed down to the surface. By the time Unity realises you're not on Aeran, we'll be long gone. But, just to buy us some time, you're going to tell your significant other that you beamed down successfully before the unfortunate reactor malfunction."
Her first instinct was to refuse but she was not alone and she didnt doubt that this 'Harker' and anyone else on board would fail to harm Martin if she didnt co-operate. She stepped forward slowly and Harker looked more smug than before. "You had better sound convincing." she said.
Rangi took the communicator, seeing it preset to sned a message directly to Shanes private line. She swallowed, her mouth felt dry and she bit her lower lip.
This was a chance to warn Shane that something was wrong but what could she say? She saw Harker change the angle of the pistol, pointing it now at Martins head.

This was a chance to warn Shane that something was wrong but what could she say? She saw Harker change the angle of the pistol, pointing it now at Martins head.
"Convincing.." she repeated.
Rangi took a deep breath to calm herself. She must sound convincing, happy, carefree and she must warn him. " Hello darling." she said looking at Harker as she spoke. "The communcation officer told me there's a malfunction and but don't worry, we're fine...no problems. I hope it wont delay you too long.." She paused and Harker, listening attentively dropped her gaze to Martin for a split second. " The place is absolutley lovely." Rangi said, sounding enthusiastic enough to fool anyone. " I'm so glad we decided on the sea instead of the mountains. We'll see you soon.... Love you."
Harker snatched the communication handset away.
"Has the comm been rerouted properly through her communicator?" Harker asked the Romulan man.
"Yes," he nodded. "We're ready for departure."
"Good," Harker said, returning to Rangi just as Uahk re-entered the small bridge. He looked completely different, his true self again; dark skin with a greenish hue, amber eyes and dark matted hair with faint red streaks. "Uahk, please escort Commander Summers and her charge to their quarters." Then she turned to the helm station. "Reitu, get us underway. Make sure to alter the beacon."
Uahk led Rangi and Martin back out into the corridor and to the door on their right. The cabin was small with two single beds, a small en-suite lavatory and a food replicator.
"Get comfortable, you'll be here a while," he said, waving them inside.
"Mummy?" Martin looked up at her and she immediately knelt down, bringing herself level with his face. "I'm scared." he said.
"I know." Rangi moved to hold him close to her, kissing his face before he snuggled into her shoulder. She kept her face against his hair on a breath of sound whispered into his ear. "These people might be able to hear us. Please dont say anything about the mountians. Daddy will understand that its a warning. He will come and find us."
She turned her head slightly and kissed him again then leaned back on her heels.
"Alright?" she asked him in a normal voice.
Martin nodded and she saw he had understood her. "Yes...." he said. " I'm alright."
